That sounds like a good book SarahL2. My DS is 2.2 and I've been thinking he's a bit young to understand yet, but a book would be a good intro.

charleymouse · 24/06/2009 09:29

MaLopez linked to this on a previous site, My DD (4) and DS (2) both like to watch it together.

cbeebies mummys pregnant

Had sixteen week apt yesterday for bloods but as I have had a nuchal scan and bloods privately they said they would not bother so a bit of a waste of time really. Did hear the heartbeat though which is really lovely. I think I have been feeling movements from about 12 weeks but had put it down to wind as thought it must be too early.

Congrats on your scans PJ, MM and BMBDIT.

SCM go to your apt the head has no right to demand you cancel. Hope you get it resolved.

Will go and do TPT later as at work at the monment and I think they are bigger sheets. Sorrry for doing it on the wrong day but will check in later. Baisey must be smaller sheets this week.

SarahL2 · 24/06/2009 10:01

Here's the book Harimad. It's written by the guy that does Purple Ronnie. It's really nice to read and has become one of DS's favourites. Never thought anything would top 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'

We got the Topsy and Tim one too but neither DS or I like it as much.

LaDiDaDi · 24/06/2009 10:12

I've got that book too SarahL2 but haven't started to read it with dd yet.
I think I'm going to try to wait until 20 weeks to tell dd so that I can let her know if she's going to have a brother or a sister.

Catz · 24/06/2009 13:45

Sorry your feeling faint Sarah. Another thing it might be is dehydration - my mw said this is the time that your blood volume is increasing a lot so keep drinking regularly even if you don't feel thirsty.

DD is 23 mnths. We told her after the 12 wk scan and she keeps talking about it, though it's such a long time she'll probably be bored by the time baby actually puts an appearance in. She keeps saying she's got to be careful not to bang mummy's tummy in case it hurts the baby. I'm also doing a good line in - mummy's got to eat this because the baby is hungry ('the baby' is very keen on chocolate...) to try and stop her nicking all my food. It did backfire today when she decided the baby was thirsty and tried to pour a glass of water into my tummy button!

That looks a good book Sarah. Unfortunately DD loves the Topsy and Tim book so I'm reading it about 10 times a day at hte moment.

Scorps · 24/06/2009 14:45

Sarah i too am feeling faint quite alot. I am a bit underweight (I'm 5'9 and 8.8stone) and think this is my body's way of making me eat alot . But even eating doesnt make it stop. I have just been drinking more water, eating often and sitting down more then normal.

Mimi is only 14 months, so won't understand new baby yet, so im just careful when she is near me.

Scorps · 24/06/2009 14:46

Oh and my nuchal/bloods came back low risk. 20 week scan on 7 august, oddly at exactly 20 weeks! We will be finding out gender - i think boy. DH wants a girl.

Harimad · 24/06/2009 15:11

Thanks Sarah. I'll check out the cbeebies link too (when I'm not at work - it's not public knowledge yet due to redundancy / extending my contract issues!) so thanks for that charleymouse.

Congrats on your nuchal/bloods Scorps. I'm assuming I'm low risk too as I was supposed to hear end of last week if it was high risk, but by letter at some point if low risk. I'm not a patient person!

I think we'll be finding out the gender. I'd like a girl as I'd love to do all the fluffy, sparkly stuff, but for my DS' sake, I think a brother might be better...

Milliemuffin · 24/06/2009 21:03

Harimad - you said almost word for word what I said earlier about it being a boy or girl. Grandparents would like a grandaughter (and me too, means I get to do girlie stuff) but for DS's sake a brother would be cool. Plus financially a boy would be easier, only one bedroom to decorate etc etc. I'd like to find out but DP doesn't :-(

Milliemuffin · 24/06/2009 22:09

Anyone else feeling totally shattered? Must be the heat, I'm in bed already. DS will be in nursery Friday morning so do I a: tidy house, b: do nothing or c: go maternity clothes shopping? All 3 need doing but can't decide which is most important, house is a mess, clothes don't fit, do need to rest! Nite all xx

whistlejacket · 24/06/2009 22:25

Milliemuffin - go for b. Def do nothing and make the most of it! I know how you feel, I'm feeling exhausted most of the time and have had a cold / fluey thing for the past 4 days which the children had last week. Whenever I get chance I lie down on the sofa. The house is a complete tip and I'm way behind with everything it's driving me mad. Need to get a nanny and a cleaner and a PA! But as that's not going to happen everything else will have to wait. Look after yourself!

cairnterrier · 24/06/2009 22:26

I know that there have been a few threads about feeling movements early but I've been away from MN for a few days so mine seems a bit out of sync.

I'm just over 14 weeks in first pregnancy. The other night at 0400 I was lying kind of face down and felt a definite fluttering type of feeling approx where bump is. Now everything that I've read says that you cn only feel movements from 16 weeks onwards and likely later on if it's your first time. But equally this felt like what they describe as movements. Have felt nothing during the day but am so busy at work etc that I'm not surprised. I know that my placenta is posterior so it's really nothing between baby and me at the front so I was wondering if I was feeling things because I was still and lying with baby tipped downwards.

So has anyone else felt movements this early on, or do I just have wind??

cairnterrier · 24/06/2009 22:31

Oh and I was wondering, now that this thread has got to 988 messages about starting a new one. As a MN newbie though, I was worried that people would think that I was a bit rude if I just did it off my own back.

So what do people think? And does anyone have a witty title now that we're getting into the second trimester?

Baisey · 25/06/2009 08:15

cairnterrier that does sound an awful lot like the baby moving, I was lying face down in bed when I first felt DS move its definately a good way of feeling the bab for the first time!

As for a witty title... I misplaced my witticisms at the moment of conception I think and im also feeling far to self-depreciating to think of anything appropiate, Id most likely have something like "Dear God why did I get myself into this for a second time, come join me in my moaning etc etc"

BTW people I won the battle with my boss, he now looks at me like im a scary beast that is going to bite his head off AND I get to sit down whilst he racks his brains thinking of nice things to say to me!!

Beffnal · 25/06/2009 09:18

Milliemuffin - go for option B but do a little internet shopping while you're lying on the sofa. Then you'll be multi tasking!

Cairnterrier - this is my 1st baby and I'm 15 + 6 and think I've been feeling little movements for about a week. It feels like little bubbles or someone tickling inside me! Such a nice feeling and don't think it's wind

I've got my 16 week appointment at the midwife tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what they do at this appointment? Is it just blood pressure etc?

SarahL2 · 25/06/2009 09:27

Beffnal - According to the notes my midwife gave me (might be different at your doctors) it should be bloods taken if you're having the double test, a urine test, a general talk about how you're feeling and a feel of your tummy. They may even get the doppler out and let you listen to baby's heartbeat too

I'm struggling to think of a whitty new thread title too. Was thinking about how many weeks it is till christmas but that's probably more suited to the last trimester and the final countdown...

SarahL2 · 25/06/2009 09:31

Ooh, how about - "Fluttery tums and excited Mums" seeing as we all seem to be starting to feel out little ones wriggling

charleymouse · 25/06/2009 09:45

Nice idea Sarah, go for it.

SarahL2 · 25/06/2009 09:54

OK - I created it. Now how to I link to it from this thread?

Named it - "Due December 09 - Fluttering Tums and Excited Mums..."

SarahL2 · 25/06/2009 09:57

I'll try it this way...

New Thread

SarahL2 · 25/06/2009 10:11
