Milliemuffin · 18/06/2009 11:31

I had a private scan at 9+3 so edd is boxing day for me!

Baisey · 18/06/2009 16:34

Hmm ive had my scan appt through, my 28 week scan is at 1:45, my bloods appt is at 2:00, different parts of the hospital, on the same day... how am I gonna manage that one... the twonks!

LaDiDaDi · 18/06/2009 18:42

I had my 12 week scan yestrday. Already had 2 scans due to bleeding. Will also have a 20 week scan, 23 week uterine dopplers and growth scans at 24 weeks and every 4 weeks thereafter.

This is because of my past history with dd (pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome at 32 weeks) but this baby is certainly going to look familiar to us before it arrives! Good job we want to know the sex as I doubt thatwe wouldn't know after all of those scans iyswim.

Baisey · 18/06/2009 19:47

LaDiDaDi (your name is inexplicably hard to type) I had quite a few scans when I was pregnant with DS, you tend to get quite blase about it, well I did anyway, and its like, "oh look theres the little blighter thats constantly kicking my ribs/bladder/stomach" It is good that they keep a close eye on things though.

lolianja · 18/06/2009 19:59

Had my 12 week / NT scan yesterday. Both twins low risk from nuchal measurements, I was messed around a bit re: the bloods though and was told they results may appear higher risk, but to discount them as they're supposedly inaccurate with multiple pregnancies. Eh? So a completely futile exercise then!

Hope everybody's well.

SarahL2 · 18/06/2009 20:08

LaDiDaDi - I had pre-eclampsia but no-one's mentioned anything about extra scans to me! Should I enquire with the midwife do you think?

Not seeing the consultant till August!

LaDiDaDi · 18/06/2009 20:48

Sarah, how far on were you when you had it and how bad were you? I became very, very ill very suddenly at 32 weeks and had an emergency section. In retospect I had probably been unwell for a couple of weeks beforehand but my BP had not been consistently raised. On the day that I had dd I got much, much worse. A few days later one of the SpRs who I had worked with in ad ifferent specialty years before came to see me and said "Oh, LaDi, I've heard how ill you were, you just went off in front of everyone".

We requested a pre-natal appt in September when I was advised of the risk or recurrence being around 20% and I was told to take 75 mg of aspirin every day from getting a positive pregnancy test to try to reduce my risks in this pregnancy. They also told me then that I would be more carefully monitored but not quite to this degree!

I hope that you haven't been offered such follow-up because you don't need it .

SarahL2 · 18/06/2009 21:07

I was ill for about a fortnight before my due date - sickness returned, headaches etc felt like the flu. I went into hospital every day for a week after EDD to have DS's heart rate monitored and to have urine/blood tested. I ended up having to do a 24 hour unrine test (24 hours worth of pee in a big bottle - yuk) and DS was induced at T+6 when it showed that my protiens hed got to +3. DS's heart rate was very slow at that point too.

I had a section after 28 hours casue DS's heart rate had not improved and the consultant was worried.

Midwife and Doctor both know about my Pre eclampsia and inducement and DS's heart rate so hopefully, they're just not worried cause I got to full term before things started going wrong.

Good luck with this pregnancy LaDiDaDi - I hope it all goes perfectly for you this time

LaDiDaDi · 18/06/2009 21:17

I'm sure that they only suggested the aspirin because dd was prem, when I queried it after my bleeding they said that if I had not toold them that dd was early they would have said to stop it but in my circs the risks of taking it outweighed the benefits.

Hope we both have bouncing term babies !

jumblies · 18/06/2009 21:44

Hi guys,

Feel safe to come back to this thread now that I've had my scan. Have had a bit of bleeding on and off so didn't want to jinx myself

Will go and have a quick read of the thread to catch up

charleymouse · 19/06/2009 11:41

So sorry Cazzybabs.

Good luck to those of you who have yet to have scans. Is it just Pinkjenny and Milliemuffin left? Don't you dare move PJ.

Lolianja I was advised to have a nuchal scan with my DTs as was told the 16 week blood tests were unreliable in a multiple pregnancy. Basically they reckoned you have twice as much of the hormones floating around as you have twice as many babies and the standard tests only compare to singleton pregnancies. It is really great news that the nuchal measurement is good though. Take comfort from that.

Welcome back Jumblies.

Jumpingjellyfish are you rejoining us, glad to hear all is well?

Right I am off to sulk I know I am one of the furthest on but good heavens 8.5 sheets of toilet paper . You must all have extra long sheets. Thats all I can say.

Harimad · 19/06/2009 13:28

Finally outing myself post scan - am too superstitious to do anything before...

EDD is a bit confused - Dr said 25/12, Midwife 26/12, Scanographer said 24/12. Added to that, my DS1 was a week late... Should be end Dec tho'!

Hope all are well today...

I bought my pram today. Had to. Too much of a bargain.
Im collecting it tomorrow, im going to keep it and my parents house, hopefully it wont be a jinx there!!
It is a mothercare mychoice, should of been £350 I got it for £230.

SarahL2 · 19/06/2009 18:21

I've been considering a twin pushchair. How old is your DS Baisey?

Baisey · 19/06/2009 18:54

DS is 2 and a half, but he already walks everywhere, even if we do take the buggy "just incase" we never need it.
If I was going for a twin I would of gone for the phil and teds, most people ive asked about those have raved about them.

Baisey · 19/06/2009 18:55

And I always want to call it a "bill and ted" and start spouting off quotes from the movie!

jumblies · 19/06/2009 19:04

Sarahl2, I am going to get a phil and teds sport. My DD will be 2 and few months old when the baby arrives and I think she will probably still need to sit in the buggy for days out to zoos etc.
Am not looking forward to it though as I like my lightweight umbrella fold pushchair. Am hoping the phil and teds will be better for offroad though as my current pushchair is rubbish for that.

Baisey · 19/06/2009 19:10

Oh on a completely different subject, ELC sale starts on 1st July, if anyone has anything in particular that they had their eye on I can find out if it is on the sale list or not.

SarahL2 · 19/06/2009 21:19

I really like the Phil and Ted - to the extent that I actually asked a Mum about it when we got into the same lift together in John Lewis today

Was worried that it didn't do lay flat or parent facing but it seems it does both

DS will be 2.9 when baby is born. At the moment, we only use the buggy for trips to the city center (we live in MK - it's huge!) If we're going walking in the woods or to the local shop them we take his trike and if it's a short trip, he walks.

I'm thinking though that when baby arrives it will need to be in a buggy for quite a while and pushing it will leave me with less opportunity to hold DS's hand so I might need him to be sitting in one too. I certainly won't be able to push a buggy and the trike at once and he wouldn't manage the wood walks on foot by himself even at nearly 3 I don't think.

If I have another section I might need him to be a little less mobile for a little while too

Even if he is walking much more, I'm going to need to swap my Silver Cross for something I can push with one hand so I have one free for hand holding..

The P&T is quite expensive though... And may not fit in my little Polo boot (although the woman I accosted in JL says she used to get it in her mini!)

I can't decide!!!

BexieID · 20/06/2009 06:12

Tom will be 3.8 when baby comes and I have thought about getting a double for the nursery run (it being up a steep hill). Tom also doesn't like the wet and windy weather and won't walk. He just lays on the pavement whinging. I have thought about a buggy board but have no idea if he'll stand on one, and then he'd still get wet and windyified, lol. If i'm out on my own, I always take the buggy!

docket · 20/06/2009 08:34

I would really recommend the Phil and Teds. I experimented with other, inferior doubles before getting one and wished I'd just shelled out for one sooner. They are really easy to handle, even with the weight of two children in them.

Baisey · 20/06/2009 08:51

I find it hard to push my DS in his buggy on his own let alone having 2 of the lil buggers in one! (thats why ive drilled it into him at an early age to walk lol)

Scorps · 20/06/2009 14:11

I'm not a phil & teds girl...i have an Icandy pear. Mimi will only be 19/20 months so i will need to use it every day.

Have come out in RL now and only a few 'You're mad' comments.

maggiebenton · 20/06/2009 14:40

Hello everyone,

Just found this site so would like o join with you in the dec 09 baby group. Pregnant with my first baby EDD 17th Dec very excited. I can see from the grid I am due the same date as a couple of ladies Stigaloid and Cazzybabs so congratulations to you both.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 20/06/2009 17:33

Hello Ladies.

Am joining Pinkjenny & Milliemuffin by finally having my scan on Monday. Have been away on hols in Florida for the past 2 weeks, hence late scan date. I'll be 14 weeks exactly then.

Started the Christmas shopping while we were away. For once DH let me as he can see the point in doing it now. Still can't even begin to imagine planning Christmas this year, it's going on hold. For DD it'll be the first Christmas she gets excited about in advance as she'll be 3 by then and at pre-school. So fingers crossed I won't miss it by giving birth (although planning home birth so we'll be around).

Am too scared to do TPT as am a "large" lady normally . Did purchase some maternity wear whilst in USA. Found 2 shops that just sold maternity gear! Was in heaven, and they still had winter wear in their sales so picked up a cardi or 2.

Sickness seems to have stopped although 8hr flight got the better of me. Thought I was discreet till DH asked steward what we should do with the full sick bag. She came down the aisle waving a yellow hazard bag at me
