Good Luck for your scan tomorrow Sarah
.

I am now 13 weeks and am still soooooo incredibly tired all the time. My dd is in the depths of the terrible twos as well which isn't helping. The nausea is getting better though and I don't get it every day. I still look shocking though - spots, nasty hormonal rash on my face, greasy hair and big bags under my eyes. It is NOT a good look. On the plus side, I do have a proper bump so at least I don't just look a bit pudgy round the middle any more

lollie77 · 11/06/2009 19:22

Good luck for tomorrow Sarah.

Does anyone know if it's ok to eat cottage cheese?? My mum thinks I shouldn't be eating it but I think it's fine as it will be pasteurised, but not sure if I'm right.

When does the tiredness and nausea stop?? Thought I'd feel better by now.Tillyscoutsmum - my skin looks crap too, thought we were meant to 'bloom'. I just look blooming shit. And fat.

Scorps · 11/06/2009 19:48

Cottage cheese is fine, as is philadelphia etc.

Scorps · 11/06/2009 19:49

Good luck for scan Sarah

Catz that sounds like blood pressure issues to me, get yours checked.

Ravgirl · 11/06/2009 21:20

Well thank god I'm not the only one who has the skin of an adolescent!

I couldn't wait for my NHS scan which isn't until the 22nd June so I paid for a private scan yesterday at 13 weeks. I thought it was amazing - the little bugger was jigging about all over the place (and waving!) - I found it a bit freaky that there was all this movement inside me and yet i couldn't feel it. Awesome to see little fingers & toes and a little nose. I have to say I cried though when she let me listen to the heartbeat, an amazing experience. Wish I had a scanner & I'd be having a look every day! Good luck to everyone else having scans and sorry if I sound a bit crazy but I found the whole thing really emotional (or maybe it's just my hormones!)

anniebigpants · 11/06/2009 21:39

Congrats on good scan Ravgirl. It really is unbelievable to see all that movement on screen and yet not feel anything. Saying that though im starting to feel little movements now and again, im 15 n half weeks now with my 2nd DC.

Catz · 11/06/2009 22:32

Congratulations on the scan Ravgirl and good luck for yours Sarah.

Thanks Devongirl and Scorps for your comments. Devongirl, do you mind me asking how long your weird vision lasted? It's been three times now (twice yesterday, once a few weeks ago) and lasts about 30 mins each time. I've managed to get a quick slot with the mw at the end of surgery tomorrow so she can do a quick check and take my blood pressure. Wasn't supposed to be seeing her till August. I feel a bit guilty about taking up appointment time when it's probably nothing but DH was ready to cart me off to A&E if I didn't book something (he is a bit overprotective in pregnancy).

I'm also really starting to show now (nearly 15 wks). I pulled out one of my pregnancy books earlier and noticed that it says that you will start accumulating fat stores and it is likely that your pre-pregnancy clothes won't fit anymore at 23-27 weeks! I am already finding that virtually all of my trousers don't fit. Please tell me I'm not alone!

Claire236 · 12/06/2009 08:22

Catz - ignore what the books tell you about size & weight gain they'll only depress you. I bought some clothes a size bigger than usual which I've grown out of & am starting to wear some maternity stuff although most of that is still too big. I'll be 15 weeks on Monday. I'm also starting to grow out of tops due to the appearance of the cleavage fairy - hapy about that as I'm usually an A cup.

SarahL2 · 12/06/2009 09:03

The cleavage fairy can stay away from me! She took me from a DD cup to a permanent G last time!!! God knows what size they were while I was breastfeeding - I was too scared to check!

Scan in 2.5 hours!! Eeeeek!

Baisey · 12/06/2009 09:13

My chin has become the hottest place in town for all the up and coming "it" spots to hang around.
I was one of those annoying cows that had the clearest skin during teenage years, im paying for that now, every couple of days a new one will sprout up, ALWAYS on my chin.
Its horrible.

Im feeling a bit better lately not so fat and not so sick, if only I could legally murder my boss and everything would be great!

Sarah good luck at your scan.
People wish me luck at work... Im going to talk/shout/rant to my boss about his behaviour and him wanting to cut my hours!

Devongirl · 12/06/2009 15:27

Hi Catz

Definitely don't feel guilty about taking up appointment time - if that scary vision thing happens again to me I'll go straight down to the GPs because it was horrible. Mine lasted about an hour - I went to bed with curtains closed and it helped a bit but it was horrible and scary for a bit. It might well be blood pressure although I've never had a problem, but pregnancy definitely does weird things to our bodies.

On a happy note I'm feeling much better this week, with a lot of energy and no nausea, and now that I've seen the scan I'm not worried that means something's wrong, I'm just going to enjoy it. Pregnancy 1 made me sick until at least 5 months but this is how I always thought I'd feel when I was pregnant, before my first pregnancy came along and burst my bubble - I feel happy, blooming, shiny hair etc (not at all normal for me!) I even managed a 3 mile walk yesterday which I haven't done for the last month.

Sorry to those who still have their heads down toilets but at least it'll give you hope that the end of that is in sight?

I'm 14 weeks, and so obviously pregnant now that even the young lads in Somerfields just asked me. I've been in my pregnancy clothes for the last 3 weeks at least as nothing else fits and I'm not buying anything new!

Good luck with your boss Balsey

x

Kingsroadie · 12/06/2009 15:31

Catz - this is my first preg - I grew out of my jeans by about 12/13 weeks - I am a size 8 usually and they don't have any stretch in the waist band, it would seem, so have been in mat jeans since then. I didn't even have a bump then and am only starting to get a little one now.

I can't imagine how anyone would last until 23-27 weeks in normal jeans/trousers! (I wear dresses and leggings most of the time so only have jeans other than that) so I am in the same boat - don't worry

Beffnal · 12/06/2009 15:48

Devongirl, it was really nice to read your post cos at 14 weeks I am feeling exactly the same. Really starting to enjoy being pregnant now and much more relaxed now I've seen the scan and am growing a little baby bump! I'm going shopping tomorrow as I'm really struggling to fit into my normal clothes.
Sarah - hope the scan went well.

Devongirl · 12/06/2009 16:23

Thanks Beffnal! Lets enjoy it while it lasts before we get to that last stage where we're enormous lumps, angry with everyone and fed up!

So Sarah, everything ok with the scan?

LaDiDaDi · 12/06/2009 18:13

I've got a definite bump now at only 11 weeks. I'm usually a slim size 8 and whilst my clothes still fit and size 10s are still too big there is no doubt that my shape has changed, my boobs are about a cupsize bigger too.

SarahL2 · 12/06/2009 20:15

Scan went really well. We saw baby with a head and arms and legs and - most importantly - a heartbeat. S/He was very still until the sonographer wanted to start doing measurements then decided to wriggle wround and turn his/her back to us. Luckily, turned round again quickly so we could have a good look and get a good picture.

Going to miss the Nuchal fold scan as they don't start doing them here for another month but she asked if she could take her pictures for her training and we agreed - mostly cause it meant we got longer to stare at our baby She said although she couldn't say officially, the nuchal fold looked nice and thin which was reassuring.

Treated myself to some maternity jeans and a new baby record book to celebrate

SarahL2 · 13/06/2009 07:54

LaDiDaDi · 14/06/2009 20:47

I need to hear from someone else onthis thread that they arestarting to llok enormous too! I'm now just 12 weeks and I look like I did at around 16 weeks with dd.

Do you just get bigger faster second time round? I can't believe the scales that say I'm no bigger when my eyes tell me otherwise.

SarahL2 · 15/06/2009 08:11

I'm the same LaDiDaDi. The scales say I still weight the same as I did before I fell pregnant but my jeans no longer fit and I'm starting to look really fat! Am actually looking forward to getting a bit bigger so at least I'll look pregnant instead!!

I think you get bigger, faster the second time cause everythings already a bit stretched from last time.

Baisey · 15/06/2009 08:54

well today I look huge, some days I dont. The scales say I have lost about 5lb.
My work shirts wont do up anymore and I dont have to wear them anymore so thats a relief, trouble is people give me random looks because they think im just another customer!

Devongirl · 15/06/2009 09:20

I'm definitely much much bigger than I was at this stage last time although a lot of it seems to depend on going to the loo - which I haven't been very good at lately - 2 nights ago I looked about 9 months pregnant and it was all wind etc etc etc - back on the prunes and strawberries now! TMI? Anyone else having this problem???

Scorps · 15/06/2009 10:10

I am quite big too, in maternity clothes already, and bump bands. This is my fourth though, but each pregnancy i have shown slightly quicker each time, its normal.

Scan on wednesday, will be 13+1 then so just in time for nuchal fold measurement too.

Spa was gorgeous, but back to reality, school runs and cooking today. Sigh.

cazzybabs · 15/06/2009 12:39

Well ironically I have had some bleeding last night and today...just as I have started to tell a few people. I am 14 weeks - I thought I was safe...sigh
Am seeing the midwife tomorrow as well

SarahL2 · 15/06/2009 13:08

Oh cazzybabs

I hope everythings OK for you. A friend of mine bled for what seemed like forever during her second trimester and now her DD is a happy, smiling little girl who turns 2 tomorrow - it may not be the end just yet.

Fingers crossed for you that it's just a scare xx

Scorps · 15/06/2009 13:15

Cazzy - hopefully its nothing. Have you had sex just before the bleeding?
