alexispolismum no real bf advice first time in Crete. Second time in Athens they were really good with classes and everything. Good luck with the relatives. Told my Mum on the phone and she asked hopefully 'was this going to be my last?'.And she has 7! Are you from Greece or elsewhere?

SarahL2 · 04/05/2009 13:55

Was determined to lurk till 12 weeks as I had a MC a few months ago and don't want to jinx myself but I'm bursting to tell...

Looks like I'm due around 28th December.

We were planning trying for number 2 later on in the year so while this pregnancy has been a bit of an accident, it's a happy one

The tiredness has really shocked me, I don't remember being this tired last time but then I wasn't looking after a 2 year old all day then either!

I'm also hoping it's a good sign that this pregnancy will go the distance.

DiDov · 04/05/2009 14:07

Congratulations sarahL2. Know what you mean about cautiousness as I had a mc before my second pregnancy. However, immediately after the mc I got pregnant again, much to the disapproval of my doctor. Thought my periods were just mucked up but the crushing tiredness prompted me to test and 8 mths later had a beautiful DD. Tiredness very good sign I think. Good luck and enjoy

SarahL2 · 04/05/2009 14:17

Thanks DiDov that's really encouraging and just what I needed to hear

See, that's why I knew posting would be a good idea - Mumsnetters are fantastic for support

Baisey · 04/05/2009 14:19

Hello all, hope everyone is feeling ok.
Are any of you having any cravings yet? Im becoming rather partial to the cheapo pickled onion flavour Transform-a-snacks, they are so strong it actually hurts to eat them but I cant get enough!!
Help!

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 15:01

Didov - I am from Wales, but have lived in Greece for ten years. What about you?

Sarah - may I also send some support. I also had a m/c just before my first pregnancy, so I know how you feel. And guess what, I was also constantly exhausted for the first trimester. Perhaps it's a good sign!

I don't know if it counts as a craving, but I've been eating tons of granny smith apples although I usually prefer the less sharp varieties

retrodolly · 04/05/2009 16:09

Didov I know! I'm hankering for those relaxed days of expecting DD. When I could nap when I wanted to, laze around or take up a freelance contract. The NHS should prescribe a special Pregnant-Toddler-Mum energy booster that we can take

I'm trying to work from home - I must be mad - but the schedule is dictated by our little princess (bless).

Anyone else feel guilty they will have less time for their first child with a new baby? I'm spoiling DD to bits in anticipation

Beffnal · 04/05/2009 16:30

Baisey I totally get that craving! I had to buy a six pack of Monster Munch pickled onion crisps the other day. Mmmm, I could eat some right now!

SarahL2 · 04/05/2009 17:25

Thanks alexpolismum I'm absolutely exhausted all the time at the moment. Went to bed at 9pm last night and slept right through!! Just couldn't stay awake any longer.

I remember being tired with DS but not until later in my pregnancy.

Will hope to be following in alexpolismum and DiDov's shoes and my tiredness is a sign that everything will be OK this time.

cazzybabs · 04/05/2009 18:15

retrodolly - we can have high bp together. I ended up in hospital for a week before hand and set of the bp monitors till I was on medication. I think my highest was something over 102 (and yes that was the bottom number)...still fingers crossed it will different

cazzybabs · 04/05/2009 18:18

sorry my last post made no sense...when I had dd3 and hopefully this time will be different.

Am trying to feed dd3 who only eats (well mostly) jar food and even spits out the big lumps

MumOfBaby · 04/05/2009 18:54

Is it ok if I pop in now and again to see how you're all doing? I'm not part of the gang anymore but I had my DS less than a year ago so I remember ever little stage

whistlejacket · 04/05/2009 19:13

Hi Mumofbaby so sorry to hear about your loss, fingers crossed for a better outcome for you next time.

Yes come back and say hello whenever you want and laugh at us when we're moaning about piles and trying to pick up tantruming toddlers off supermarket floors with bumps getting in the way

I've got to 8 weeks now but feeling nervy as I've had 2 mcs at this stage before. Probably like everyone else here just really want to get to that 3 month milestone okay.

Hope you're recovering okay and at times like this I think it really helps to make the most of the DCs you have.

DiDov · 04/05/2009 19:35

Ah cravings. Baisey and Beffnal totally bring me back with pickled onion transformers and monster munch. Can almost taste the acid on my tongue now. Unhappily and maybe luckily can't get them over here. Weirdly enough, I seem to be hankering after cucumbers just now; with the other two it was twixes. Hmmmm a cucumber and salad cream sandwich would be very good just now if not for the mild nausea that is hovering.
Alexispolismum I'm from Scotland and have been in Greece now for nearly 4 years. Holy Moly, can't believe it's been so long

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 19:57

DiDov - wait till you get to 10 years! It really hits me when I think about it! Especially as I onky intended to stay 3 months originally! Do you speak Greek?

Good luck Sarah! I hope everything goes well for you this time!

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/05/2009 19:59

Hey MumOfBaby - feel free to pop by whenever you want. How are you doing ?? I had 2 mc's before dd so know how tough it can be. Look after yourself and ds and fingers crossed everything works out for you soon xx

Cravings - yes. Nothing specific just anything bad . Today I decided I had to have a fry up for lunch. It was fab. I've also got a really sweet tooth (which is not like me at all). Ben & Jerry's chocolate macadamia nut ice cream and fresh cream strawberry tarts seem to be going down particularly well

So - is anyone else going to have a private early scan ? Think I'm going to ring tomorrow and get one for next week

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 20:00

Why am I eating green olives? I normally don't like them! Dh was eating them, and I've joined in almost without realising! This can't be a craving!

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 20:02

Tillyscout - I've already had a scan! It's the way it works here, you get one every month if you want!

LittleMonkeysMummy · 04/05/2009 20:07

With DD I was craving granny smiths and was completely off red meat! This time I'm off of fish and desperate to eat a really rare steak. Oh and rhubarb...can't get enough of it

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/05/2009 20:07

Gosh Alex - if the sun wasn't enough reason to move to Greece, then monthly scans might be . I do get regular scans after 20 weeks but just the usual 12 week NHS one before that - not sure I can wait that long !

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 20:15

LittleMonkeys - I see I'm not alone in the granny smiths, then!

Tillyscout - I hate to burst your bubble, but the weather is really miserable at the moment! And nice though the sun is, you can have a bit too much of 40 degree heatwaves in the height of summer. (it's nice most of the time, though!! don't let me put you off!)

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 20:18

Who mentioned rhubarb???

I can't get it here! I've looked everywhere, to know avail! Send me some roots to plant!

alexpolismum · 04/05/2009 20:18

to no avail

DiDov · 05/05/2009 07:24

Yup, rhuburb is one of the great missing fruits and vegetables over here, along with turnips. They are on my definite planting list, one day in the future when I'm not half dead and running after children.
Alexispolismum am still muddling through with the Greek. Blame this on three things 1] my husband constantly weighing up pros and cons of Greece versus Britain so until we started building house just last year, I kind of thought we'd be going back 2] desperate belief that some sort of linguistic osmosis would take place 3} terminal procastination. Finally started learning formally now as DS will be going to nursery soon

SarahL2 · 05/05/2009 08:54

We'll, I've made it to 6 weeks which is where I miscarried last time...these next few days are going to be hard I think.

At least I have potty training to keep me occupied - although the smell is doing nothing for my nausea! and it's DH's birthday today too.
