Poor Scorpio try not to worry, stress isn't good either. Much washing of hands, disinfectant gels etc might keep you safe.

JumpingJellyfish · 29/04/2009 10:00

Scorpio- I got a D&V bug at 5 weeks pregnant (this time, I'm 8 weeks now)- it was pretty bad (at first thought it was severe ms, but soon became apparent when both ends started that it was D&V) and lasted 24hrs- but had an early scan last week (for other reasons) and lil bean is doing fine. Weirdly I also caught D&V bugs in the first trimester with my other 2 DCs- seem to be very susceptible at that stage for some reason- and they were not affected at all- the doctors all reassured me those sorts of bugs might make you feel like sh*it but shouldn't hurt LO, and they will keep taking what nutrients they need even when you aren't eating. It sure is miserable but hopefully if you do catch it (hope not!) your LO should be fine. Just try to keep quaffing back dioralyte (sp?) to keep you hydrated it you can. Hope your DCs are much better soon xx

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 10:05

thankyou all especially jumping - its 'nice' to know someone else who has gone through it ok

Hope i get my scan appointment today!

Schlumpf · 29/04/2009 10:59

Retro - I sympathise, I had a similar reaction, when I told DH & we did the pg test - he went into a 3 day mad panick of saying 'but I don't want another child, I like it with 2!'. This was after having discussed going for #3 for about 2 years and him always saying that he'd like to have another one and after agreeing that we're now going to 'go for it'... Wasn't very nice cause he made me feel as if I'd 'tricked' him into it somehow.

I now think he just panicked about everything - money, car size, holidays, number of rooms in the house, university fees, number of grandchildren, you name it! Not sure why it happened but I'm glad to say he's calmed down now and seems to have come round again to wanting & looking forward to #3... MEN!!!

Anyway, big sympathies from me, I know it's not great when you're really happy and partner isn't - I hope yours is going to come round to the idea soon...

Hi ladies, i'm also due in December. Got 'official' positive result from blood test yesterday from the docs. Receptionist said midwife will contact me when i'm 10ish weeks, which is a bit scary as i havent seen anyone apart from the nurse at the path lab to take the blood......

Had my booking in appt with mw today which has helped settle my mind about a few things I was concerned about due to probs when I had ds. Looking forward to my scan on 20 May now.

cazzybabs · 29/04/2009 19:48

PippyHope · 29/04/2009 22:16

Hello,

First baby, had a miscarraige in Jan at 6 weeks exactly

docket · 30/04/2009 10:35

cazzybabs, I think you were on the Oct 04 ante natal thread weren't you? Or am I going mad?!

Pinkjenny · 30/04/2009 11:12

Is anyone irrationally petrified and paranoid about miscarriage?

Or is it just me.

cazzybabs · 30/04/2009 12:32

docket...yes I had a girl Grace!

Hi,
I'm due Dec. 25th with 3rd but sure I'll be delivering early as will probably have to have caesearean again. Live in Greece , where the doctors believe that if you haven't given birth by lunchtime, the scalpels have to come out.

ahh, cazzy, i thought so! i had a boy, alex. i've since had a daughter and, like you, i think this will be my last.

Pinkjenny, I am gripped with worry too. Perhaps, as Marla suggests, an early scan might reassure?

alexpolismum · 30/04/2009 14:27

Hello! Can I join you all? I'm amazed by how early some of you found out about your pregnancies! I must be really disorganised, as I've only just found out! I'm having my 3rd baby, due Dec 16th.

Didov - I also live in Greece - whereabouts are you? Don't let them bully you if you don't want a caesarian when it comes to it. You have to put your foot down. I did and have had 2 natural births.

Pinkjenny · 30/04/2009 15:08

Welcome alexpolismum!

Marla - I can't believe we are due on the same day!

I know what you are saying about an early scan. I bled from weeks 5 to 8 with dd, and had scans at 5 and 7 weeks. I do remember these stretchy pains, and I also remember that my MS didn't start until 6 weeks. I think part of the anxiety is coming from my inability (much to dh's frustration) to stop telling people! And some people seem to be completely horrified that I have told them, almost assuming that something will go wrong, which in turn freaks me out!

I am a terrible worrier though! I am renowned for it on the May 07 thread, as Tilly and Charley will verify!

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 15:11

I have na early scan appointment, 12 th May, i will be 8 weeks exactly that day, so hoping to see healthy bean.

Pinkjenny - I mc only 2 months ago so am terrified. I am pushing all thoughts of pg, mc and babies to the back of my mind, until a week tuesday.

theboob · 30/04/2009 15:20

scorpio just saw this on active
congratulations

alexpolismum · 30/04/2009 15:21

Thankyou, Pinkjenny.

Scorpio - I had a horrendous mc before my first son was conceived. The foetus became lodged in the womb and caused an infection and had to be surgically removed. I was very ill. Despite this, my subsequent pregnancy proceeded normally and ds was (is!) very healthy. Try not to worry. I know it's difficult, but mc is actually quite common and many women go on to have completely healthy pregnancies.

On a completely different note - someone please enlighten me! What is BFP? Everyone seems to be using it and I haven't a clue what it means!

Pinkjenny · 30/04/2009 15:33

Big Fat Positive!

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 15:46

Thanks theboob

lolianja · 30/04/2009 19:03

Oh Gordon... I am knackered. The sickness / exhaustion is BAD this time around. My life currently consists of a never-ending cycle of breastfeeding, vomiting and sleeping.

I hardly had any sickness at all with Jimmy, had a lightning birth with no, ahem, "damage" despite him being 9lb 8.5oz and was back in my size 8s a few hours later. This is clearly karmic recompensation for having such an easy ride of it... this morning I felt as though I had food poisoning and could barely lift my head off the pillow. When I did I was violently sick all over the sheets, and then all over poor little James whilst he guzzled at the ol' boobs.

Sorry for moaning.

ViktoriaMac · 30/04/2009 19:04

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to ask any of you who aren't first timers, what can I expect to happen at my first antenatal appointment? I get freaked out by the mere smell of my doctor's surgery and can't ask my RL friends as I am not telling them until 12 weeks (now 7.5 weeks).

Thank you

becksworth · 30/04/2009 19:04

Hello ladies - it's probably a bit early to be thinking about maternity clothes, but see if you're tempted. Mamas & Papas have got a sale on and there's some lovely stuff www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/

I've just gone a little bit crazy with the credit card , but I'm resisting buying all the nice non-maternity stuff in the shops now and I was going to cave in at some point!

Claire236 · 30/04/2009 20:14

I can't believe how many of us there are now. There was only about 5 when I joined.

ViktoriaMac - I had my booking in appt with the mw yesterday. She took blood, urine sample, asked lots of questions about both mine & dhs medical history & gave us lots of stuff to read, quite a lot of which gets you free samples of stuff. We also spent some time talking about things we were concerned about from when I had ds. She also told us when the 12 week scan would be & went through all the other tests, scans etc you'll be offered.
