wear those wrist bands, and take something ginger with you to eat/drink, or peppermint tea. also check out ebay for preggy pops.

Hi all, since starting the thread I've hardly had the energy to get on here and actually type! Went to the doctor today as the nausea/tiredness is getting out of hand. I asked her about taking Vit B6 as I've heard good things about it and she'd never heard of it! I told her to Google it, she did, and recommended I try it So now I'm taking 10mg three times a day and I'll let you know if it helps.

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to ask if anyone else is suffering from incredible itching. For the last three days I have had constantly itchy neck, chest and arms. Calamine lotion works for about 10 minutes then the itching comes back with a vengeance. There is a slightly raised rash and red hot skin.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

retrodolly · 28/04/2009 16:51

Ravgirl and ScorpiowithabigS thanks for asking - feel a bit less alone here now xxxx

Their disapproval is due to the not-long-enough gap between babies. DH and his lot are very precise and propah folks - and anything under 2 yrs gap seems primitive to them . Both MIL and SIL had 6 yrs or so bw kids. Guess DH's folks worried about his business/work in this economic climate. But surely, DC2 wont be that much of a financial strain?

Can't believe DH was implying I don't need to give up sweeteners/soft cheese/uncooked meat etc this time round!! Why would I treat little bean any differently just cos am 2nd time mum??

Anyway, every morning I lie in bed having a silent chat with little bean telling him/her how much I want him/her...

retrodolly · 28/04/2009 16:55

How about this for a funny symptom.....

The first time I felt sure I must be pregnant was when I couldn't finish my coffee, it almost made me gag! And I'm a confirmed coffee addict, 6 cups or so not being an uncommon daily dose!!

I don't get nauseous at all or much any symptoms really (inherited that from my mom) other than frequent weeing.

But the Coffee thing really annoys me

Ravgirl · 28/04/2009 17:04

retrodolly don't worry about jobs & babies, my DP has just been made redundant (again) for the 2nd time in 3 years but he's luckily managed to find something else. We worried for ages about when was the 'right' time to start a family & in the end decided to just go for it. I'd have thought having babies closer together would make it easier in the long run - but then I'm only on my first so what do I know

Also my GP told me to cut down on coffee so maybe your body is just telling you in it's own way.

biscuits I've got a bag full of stuff in case I feel ill travelling to NZ, I have travel bands, ginger & lemon tea, glucose tablets, breadsticks, ginger biscuits and mints - here's hoping I make it through security!!

boogeek · 28/04/2009 17:04

Hello ladies
I'm due on the 8th (but DD1 was 2 1/2 weeks late, DD2 1 week late so I'm not expecting anything that early). Nice to join you...am going to have a wee read through the thread now and find out who else is here

boogeek · 28/04/2009 17:05

Arg! I see I am already on the list. I had no idea I had already joined. Can baby brain really strike so very early?

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/04/2009 17:09

I am normally a coffee addict, but go decaff with each pg coffee aversion is very common in early pg.

Your age gap is fine - my youngest was only 1 last week, the others are 6 & 4. You should tell your MIL that

BestLaidPlans · 28/04/2009 17:28

Boogeek - I'm hoping it can, otherwise the fact I completely forgot how to spell in front of a class yesterday (not even a difficult word) is just down to idiocy.

PinkJenny - completely agree on the no symptoms thing, starting to get a bit worried as I had a raging thirst at the very beginning and I was really hungry with a sore chest and now back to normal.

Following the german measles case, slap cheek is now doing the rounds at school, so was sent home by the head today and told not to come back until I've been told I'm immune or until it's safe. Felt awful for the poor, just out of uni, cover supervisor as I handed over the lesson plans for teaching reproduction to my unbelievably immature year 7s.

boogeek · 28/04/2009 17:33

Re giving up cheese and meat, there's an interesting article from midwifery matters here. Can't say I have ever taken too much notice, beyond "try not to get food poisoning", because I lived abroad when I had my first and the guidelines were just completely different - making me distrust them all.

EffieGadsby · 28/04/2009 17:52

I've been putting off joining this thread, as I've been concerned about my lack of symptoms, but now I can see that so many others are in the same boat, I'm going to declare myself expecting, and properly join in. The only signs I seem to have are a permanent queasiness, and an aversion to certain foods (mostly anything I've just spent 40 minutes preparing for supper). It's DP who is eating for two, as he's clearing up all my rejected dinners. Also, I had some twinging abdominal feelings, which I read were the womby bits moving into place, and lots of tiredness (currently sleeping 9 hours a night - lovely!).

I had an early scan last week, so if the dating was correct, then I'm 6+2 today. Baby Gadsby the first is due on 18th December.

Schlumpf and Pinkjenny - I recognise your names from the Jan '10 bus thread. Hello! [waves].

retrodolly · 28/04/2009 17:58

Scorpio Thanks for the age gap hint - can see I'm not alone (thank heavens!!)

boogeek interesting link - must say a lot of radical new thinking about pregnancy and birth is coming from MWs i.e. non-medical areas.

DH just made me coffee ...sigh...

Hello everyone.

Wow - there are quite a lot of us already! Congrats to all.

I have been having curiously vivid dreams as well Marla, really bizarre. Am also feeling sick as a dog, have a complete aversion to any remotely healthy food and a desire to stuff myself with endless crisps, chocolate and sweets. Oh well...

retrodolly · 28/04/2009 20:32

Thanks Marla good luck on keeping er...mum... I have the secret-keeping capacity of a 2 year old so I could never hold out!

As for vivid dreams - great entertainment and all for free! I have got to stop looking for meaning in those dreams or will get seriously loopy!

Pinkjenny · 28/04/2009 21:18

Marla!! We were both pregnant!!

Hi! Please can I jump on this bus?! Am 6 weeks with number 1. Due Christmas Day eek!! Very excited but trying not to be until 12 week scan. Hello ladies (wave!)

dillydallydaisy · 28/04/2009 21:39

Check out daisybump.blogspot.com/ for a daft cartoon pregnancy diary. Might make you giggle

PennyBenjamin · 29/04/2009 08:25

Marla - great name!

Retro - why do people feel the need to air those sorts of opinions. I mean, they can't possibly have thought they'd be welcome, so why bother! We haven't told anyone yet, but as DS is only 7 1/2 months, I am dreading all the comments. But there seem to be a few of us here in the same situation, so hopefully we can come on here and share the best/worst stories!

I am discovering morning sickness is no fun when you've got a baby to run after. Although at least I don't have to do the tube rush hour this time. Typical, last time I had MS it was around the time of the big norovirus outbreak - as I was sitting on the floor of the carrriage retching, people would just slowly edge away. This time people would probably think I had Swine Flu!

LittleMonkeysMummy · 29/04/2009 08:37

Oh Penny - I an sympathise totally. I've spent most of the last week throwng up (thought it was a bug I picked up at work ) Unfortunately DD (14m) doesn't have any sympathy for me - so far today she's spent most of the morning dragging me around the living room playing when all I want to do is curl up with a basin!!

Can't even call on Mum as she'll uess within seconds what's up with me and I soooo want DH to be the first to find out (only 3 more weeks til he's home)

Had MS from hell last time but from 4 weeks? Someone's got it in for me!!

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 08:39

poor you lmm

I am really scared; the boys have got D&V and im so worried if i get it it will make me lose the baby. I only mc in Feb, you see, so memory still very clear.

Anyone want to talk sense??

LittleMonkeysMummy · 29/04/2009 08:45

Oh Scorpio - I don't know about these things but am sending you a huge hug (along with the disinfectant wipes and face mask )

Pinkjenny · 29/04/2009 09:51

I am sure you'll be fine Scorpio, just make sure you keep washing your hands.

I am still bemoaning the lack of symptoms, and also the fact that people seem to assume at this early stage that you will mc. When I tell someone, they almost seem horrified that I have told them so early!!
