weather's been fantastic again today - I'll be gutted when it stops.

Congrats daffodilli! A blue one!

I'm rubbish at parking at all times too. I often don't drive places for fear of having to parallel park at the other end.

I'd quite like to feel some movement now, though I know as a first timer it might be a little while. 19 weeks today, and the scan still 3 and a half weeks away, which seems so long. I've been wondering if I could call the hospital and ask them to bring it forward, but can't think of a reason beyond 'it seems like ages to wait'.

LizLemon · 24/04/2009 17:26

lol at driving into things, especially forwards!

audreyraines · 24/04/2009 17:27

daffodilli - congrats great news! i had to go for a walk in the middle too. our bub was very uncooperative and we now have a weird photo that shows her spine at the top and her all curled up!

i got the free cover with my dream genii for £39.99 - that was the best deal i could find. there were a couple of sites slightly cheaper, but i thought it would be good to get another cover anyway.

ladylush · 24/04/2009 17:33

Lizlemon - I know. Any excuse (even pregnancy) seems lame

Audreyraines - thanks for info Think I'll go for that one then.

mummyhill · 24/04/2009 18:02

My spacial awareness goes funny so then my driving is a bit erratic (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it)!

ladylush · 24/04/2009 18:07

mummyhill - how much has your thyroxine been increased so far? I've had two increases but I have a feeling it might go up again when I see the endo in 2 weeks time.

TigerFeet · 24/04/2009 18:24

Don't worry ladylush, dh once drove into some low railings in a car park, leaving blue paint from the rails all over the bumper of our silver car, and he didn't have pregnancy as an excuse

Congrats on your baby boy daffodilli

LittleCheese · 24/04/2009 19:49

Driving this pregnancy not been a problem so far. Last pregnancy 1 week before dd was born in broad day light I managed to reverse right into a bright red car in a car park with a very nice old man sat in it. I got out in tears and obviously very worried i might go into labour or something the man was lovely.

Then when dd was about 2 weeks old i again reversed into a parked car, this time i wasnt so lucky and the women got out and was shouting and screaming at me in tear dd crying and dh getting rather angry at the women. No accidents since though.

I think i am going slightly crazy tody, we booked our holiday a couple of weeks ago and i have been looking for some nice comfy shoes to take with me, ill be 30 weeks so today went to dorethy perkins and bought these

LittleCheese · 24/04/2009 19:49

what was i thinking

Minshu · 24/04/2009 20:14

Logic doesn't need to enter into it when it comes to buying shoes, wonderful shoes You will be able to return or exchange them if you're sure you want to go for something more practical. Where are you going on your hols, littlecheese?

My driving can be fine or totally awful, irrespective of pregnancy or time of month, or anything... I parallel parked beautifully the other day, but had had 3 false starts the day before in an almost identical space Generally, I feel less bright than normal, but that's because all I can think about is babies!!

Scan on Tuesday and hope to find out the sex, just because I'm so sure it's gonna be blue.

peachygirl · 24/04/2009 20:14

I hope you find the book useful muffinmum, the first section I think is particularly good.

minshu I had the same experience as Tiger feet it was well after my 20 week scan that I felt movements.

I never felt what supposedly feels like flutters. Just little bumps and bubble pops.

daffodilli · 24/04/2009 20:26

Thanks everyone! have been all day!

Oooh red shoes - I can see why Littlecheese! One must look glam at all times!

Have ordered my Dream Genii now, thanks for the info.

Audrey our pic is of the back of bubs head (he seemed very interested in my spine!) his tummy, and maybe a foot! He was really low down and she practically scanned the bed trying to get pics she pressed SO hard, am a bit bruised now lol!

New series of Have I Got News For You tonight, Ian Hyslop is the funniest little man, reminds me a bit of a guinea pig! (not sure why!)

Minshu · 24/04/2009 20:31

A guy at work congratulated me on my news. He admitted he had checked with someone else, just in case he'd got it wrong. I told him it was too many pies , but it must be getting a bit noticeable now.

One really interesting thing from being at yoga the other night was the range in sizes for women of the same stage. At 18 weeks, I have a bump, while another lady at 17 1/2 weeks was almost totally flat. Another at 28 weeks looked like me, while another at 29 weeks looked like one at 35 weeks. And this is a load of people of fairly average build, and mostly first timers. Made me feel better - that I should stop judging myself on my weight gain. Perhaps I should stop staring at other women's tummies, though

Not sure if it's wishful thinking again, but there may be movement. But, everytime I think I feel something and "concentrate" on it, all goes very quiet.

FairySparkles · 24/04/2009 21:17

Hellooooo girls - woah, just had to do a massive catch up on all the posts as haven't been on the computer since the wknd!!

Glad to see everyone's doing mostly ok, congratulations on all the pink and blue bumps - my scan's 2 weeks today - can't wait now!!

Minshu - I've only just gone back to work recently from maternity leave so most work colleugues seemed really confused and just assumed I still had a 'too many pie's' belly! - have spent the last couple months saying "no - I'm not fat; just pregnant..... AGAIN!"

Finally starting to bloom a wee bit - hair is shiny, nails are growing really fast and strong, and skin's better on my face, although I've got really itchy eczema on my neck and chest and loads of skin tags (which I keep picking off sorry tmi!!)

So, where do I get this Spatone stuff from then??? Sounds like me and dd could do with a bit of that!

Feeling a bit jealous of the whole dream genie craze!! I got a body pillow from Lidls when pregnant with dd for about £8 which I will be digging out agian soon so can't really justify 40quid on a new one!
Bought a crib for bean last week - really wish I was finding out the sex so I could start buying sleepsuits and stuff but dp wants a surprise!!

Anyone still puking?? 18+3 today and was in the bathroom first thing this morning with my head over the loo!! Getting a little bit tedious now - thought it was easing off a bit but I guess that would just make life too easy eh!?

Anyone had a night out with the girls yet?? I'm supposed to be out on the town with my girlies 2morrow night for the first time since pregnant (well; FINDING OUT I was pregnant anyway) and not sure if I should even bother - suspect I'll be in a taxi home by 9pm..........giddy from all the lemonade!!! lol

FairySparkles · 24/04/2009 21:21

.............also feeling a wee bit pessamistic about lack of movement, feel little ripple's now and again but could easily be wind! Also - you lot all talking about not being able to sleep on your back and needing the pillows - I'm still sleeping on my belly without too much discomfort, definatley no need to bring in pillow backup!! - hope my beans still in there!!

SabsBigPants · 24/04/2009 21:29

minshu im 18 weeks 2mrw and my stomach looks really huge! my mum keeps telling me its not the baby yet, just fat I went back to work today after after 2 weeks sick leave and everyone commented on how big my stomach looked! I was wearing summer clothes, so a rather thin top as opposed to jumpers etc 2 weeks ago.. Its my first pregnancy...

marymungoandmidge · 24/04/2009 21:37

I'm 18 weeks plus 2 and my belly is already huge...! Luckily no massive gain elsewhere though (yet) but people keep asking me when I'm due and I'm cringing at saying Sept. as I suspect they think its June or something....

Also having nightmare choosing flattering tops...have bought loads but my pregnancy indecision is excrutiating so I end up buying something completely ridiculous and then feeling hideous. I am accessorising big time to draw eye away from belly region!!!!

SabsBigPants · 24/04/2009 21:42

where have you been buying maternity clothes from mary?

Minshu · 24/04/2009 21:44

FairySparkles - I could quite comfortably sleep on my back, but it makes me paranoid because of what I've read. I'm just trying to get into the habit of sleeping on my side instead. To be honest, the first couple of months were far worse, with sore boobs and full bladder all night.

I know exactly what you mean - I was feeling very pessimistic earlier this week, but better now. Thanks to reassuring comments on here!! Won't really relax until my scan next week, though.

marymungoandmidge · 24/04/2009 21:49

Sabs - Everywhere... Gap, H & M, JoJoMaman etc...any recommendations...particularly for tops and good jeans? All the jeans I've tried just feel baggy and shapeless...

SabsBigPants · 24/04/2009 21:50

minshu good luck for your scan next week. Mines on 12th may but seeing midwife next week so i can hear the heartbeat. Has anyone on here bought a doppler of their own? Would they recommend it?

I'm also very paranoid about ending up on my back in my sleep, though i do tend to mainly sleep on my side anyway...

ladylush · 24/04/2009 22:08

I've got an angelsounds doppler. I would recommend it. It only cost about £25 and I've been able to pick up the hb since 12+4.
Btw, you don't need to buy special gel - you can use ky jelly.

Fairy - I didn't buy a special pillow when pg with ds but wish I had - particularly as I had SPD. I'm saving in other ways as we still have all of ds's stuff.

ladylush · 24/04/2009 22:09

Oh and Tiger - lol at your dh. Yep - makes me feel better

mummyhill · 25/04/2009 09:26

Morning ladies.

Ladylush - my thyroxine was upped 3 time in the first 12 weeks and is now at 175 mcg which is a grand total of 75 mcg. GP not interested in testing again now unless I feel rough. Not seen an endo yet! Will be seeing consultant or one of his underlings I hope on Wednesday but I won't hold my breath!

ladylush · 25/04/2009 10:00

Morning all
Mummyhill - I forgot, it's three times it's been increased. I was on 100mcg, then as soon as I got pg it went up to 125mcg, then was increased about two weeks after to 150mcg, then endo put it up to 175mcg. So we are the same. It's bad that you haven't been seen by an endo. I'm seeing one again next thursday. I've been getting a heavy feeling behind my eyes which I get when my TSH is raised. I suppose it could be a coincidence though. Did you have any problems bfeeding your dc? I bf ds for 7 months but it was so hard because he wanted feeding all the time and I now suspect that I wasn't producing much milk (which I know can happen with underactive thyroid). So am hoping if that was the problem, that being on thryoxine will help. How are you feeling by the way?
