Choccie So sorry you're not feeling well, it's a lot to be going wrong all at the same time, rotten isn't it, it makes everything a lot harder, don't worry about keeping up, I think we all have our moments where we just can't! I really hope everything gets easier for you soon.

Louise It's good to hear from you.
I always find funerals a bit surreal, it takes a while for grief to work its way, it doesn't really have a set pattern, emotions all over the place for a while, anger, sadness, back to anger...hang in there!
I've been on a couple of "grief" newsgroups but didn't post much, it was good to read other people going through the same thing when I was kept awake at night. Some people do not move on from there though which is a shame.

Glad your shower went well and where can we get this nutritionist deal? I'm going to have to look into it, sounds fabulous! It's good to know that you have good friends around you.

mrsmc My hippiest friend said she was using pampers too.

Thanks for the tips about nappies, I did wonder about the size that I would need after being told that lo is "tall" at the 20w scan. I'll refrain from buying anymore for now! (ok maybe just one more.)

I got a "V" pillow today after being told twice now that they're very useful for breastfeeding at different bf workshops.

We also had our last nhs an class this monday and the last NCT one is tomorrow too, boohoo. I really enjoyed both sets of classes and I hope we get to see the other couples again (though the nhs ones did not leave their details to give away so I'm hoping to see a couple at the next breastfeeding workshop next week.

naat Ineed Thanks for your kind words about work, I feel better now that we've had a meeting with the book keeper and got that much more done, really not much left to do now and I can breathe!

Tee Did you find someone for your replacement? I'm really fussy when we do interviews. (probably a reason why we don't have any staff at the moment!!

Time to chill out tonight...take care everyone

chocciedooby · 30/04/2009 02:38

LOOK AWAY IF EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Guess what girls?! I have discovered why I cannot sleep! I have now contracted thread worms. I am so irritated by them and cannot believe this is happening to me.
I am such a hygienic person and yet I seem to have got infected everywhere down below.
I am online googling the whole thing to see what I can take and it looks like I can only eat a clove of garlic (raw). So I'm off to make a bread and butter garlic sandwich!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 30/04/2009 07:50

Hello all..

Was on my way to 'dunk your bumps' last night when I had a call from my brother that he and his girlfriend had been in a car accident. They're okay, but the car isn't, and came to us as soon as they could. They were in A&E 'til gone 1am and are still asleep now. My bro was supposed to start his brand new job today and has to ring in sick as he bumped his head and hurt his neck. I feel awful for them as things had just started getting on track for them. It's a real set back.

My mum also has a job interview today, so I'm willing her to get it. She's so miserable in the job she's in and this one is much better for her. She's worried as she's in her mid-fifties and doesn't know if this'll stand against her. Cross your fingers girls...

My SPD seems to have calmed down again, for which I am very relieved! The thought of being as immobile as I was when pregnant with DS made me sick with worry... how the hell would I cope with a toddler as well? Let's hope it stays that way.....

Poor you choccie - That's such a nightmare. Good luck on the garlic. I bet you are so fed up of having to go to the docs with embarrassing ailments. You have my sympathies!

June - Glad works calmed down a bit.

LittleSarah - Your yoga teacher sounds a bit . I would have thought a yoga teacher would have been a bit more positive about the baby turning....

Looouise - That present sounds fab! I didn't even know you could do something like that!

Tee - Hope the next few days at work go okay.

Naat - Hope the rest of that translation goes okay. It must make your brain ache! I don't think my brain ever recovered after my DS, God only knows what it'll be like after this LO is born!

ermintrude - Hope the leaning down the stairs has done the trick....

Oh well, have a great day girls. I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and in two weeks time I was holding DS...... AAAAGH! Not long now!

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 30/04/2009 09:23

Ineed how awful about your bro's accident! It's bad timing but I'm sure it won't affect his job long-term so hope he can keep a spring in his step - albeit a very cautious spring - and stay positive. Good luck to your ma as well.

choccie you poor thing, it's all happening where the sun don't shine for you, isn't it. I think that as soon as you have one (itchy) problem down there, the possibility of other infections becomes much greater. Hope your family isn't affected too (but it's most likely they've come from a child) and that all of your unwelcome guests clear out sharpish.

LittleSarah I agree with Ineed that your yoga teacher's attitude was a bit No Can Do. Babies in a complete breech can turn right over any time up to birth - actually they are more likely to turn than transverse babies, hence my frantic stair-leaning, which seems - touch wood - to have done the trick for now. I'm sure I can feel little hands scrabbling about low down ). Do speak to your MW about it, and check out the spinning babies website for some tips about postures which encourage babies to turn.

Looouise what a fab present from your friend! Can you activate it whenever you want to? It sounds very Hollywood - isn't that how slebs diet these days, by having it all delivered to them? God, I'd love it!

June I liked my V pillow for feeding, esp in chairs with arms - the pillow and arms combine to support LO leaving at least one of your arms completely free, even when they get bigger.

Tee hope you have a less tiring day at work.

Sunshine trying to get through now, here's hoping...

LittleSarah · 30/04/2009 09:32

Ineed - Sorry to hear about your brother and his girlfriend, that is terrible! Hopefully as they are both okay it will end up being more of a blip than anything too dramatic and they will move on quickly.

Definitely hoping for your mum on the job front. I know someone my dh works with has struggled in her mid fifties and it really isn't fair the way some discriminate!

Choccie - Poor poor poor you! I've no idea what to do about thread worms but good luck!

June - I so want one of those pillows, should get a wee bit of money soon from reviewing job and is definitely on the list.

Naat - Thanks again for the tracks and affirmations, both are great! I hope your translations go well, although I'm not surprised you're finding three at once a bit daunting.

Right, back to dissertation. My meeting actually went quite well yesterday so not too much editing required, but enough to keep me busy!

Also, midwife may phone today with blood results but I thought that that sounded a little optimistic on her side for the NHS!

LittleSarah · 30/04/2009 10:22

Well my midwife did phone today! Must be less pessimistic. However in uni so phone on silent. Message said she had results and asked when I had last eaten before the test (although I told her that and watched her write it on the test packet thing on Tuesday). I have phoned back and left a message but no idea when she will be back in the office. What does that mean? I ate not long before test (about an hour), does that mean sugar in blood okay or not? Ie surely if no sugar found she would not have asked for clarification on eating...?

Argh, why did she just not say whether sugar was there or not!?

insywinsyspider · 30/04/2009 10:27

littlesarah thank you so much for the book, it arrived yesterday, I really appreciate it, read the back cover tho and think I can see your point, it looks like a lot of teenage ansgt in it which will either be fine or just annoy me

ineed sorry to hear about your bro too but glad they seem to be ok, hope they recover quickly

chocie what a nightmare you are having, can you get anything over the counter or from docs to help? I have no experience I'm afraid but hope you get better soon x

thanks everyone for your kind words, I'm now completely ok and started trying to get ds2 sleeping back through the night, mrsmj the baby whisperer has been a life saver for me too, I don't agree with everything in there as both of mine seem to get more wound up if I stay with them when they are trying the settle so I do do the controlled crying thing, usually it takes a ouple of nights and they are sleeping back tho, I've struggled to do it recently tho as I get upset, I think its the hormones!

bunny MIL can really annoy me but she is always so willing to help its lovely, she just has habit of saying things before thinking which come across all wrong and can upset me, I just have to remind myself that she does mean well really

effie LOVE the name Rupert Edward, Rupert is on my list but dh has decided that it, with the names of our 2 ds's, sounds like a rowing team and too posh so we are going for Edward if we have another ds, wish I could find a girls name I love tho, guess I just don't believe I'll have a girl!

looouise also at your present, what a fab gift!

Hello everyone else, hope you are having lovely days

Effielou · 30/04/2009 10:34

Poobags-poobags-poobags I was beginning to feel smug at the lack of stretch marks only gained a few around the tops of my legs in my last 2 pregnancies!! But last night in bed I noticed lots of little one appearing on my bump!!!! arrghhhh!!! I know they are part and parcel of pregnancy but was hoping they would keep to a minimum not that I'm a bikini wearer- and only DH will see them!! But still a massive poobags!! Bring on the cocoa butter, bio-oil and lard if needs be ( don't know about the last one ).

My sons preschool has put up a warning of slapped cheek syndrome outbreaks so rang mw this morning- spoke to a different one to my mw and she was totally unhelpful- she said not to worry til he shows signs fair enough but doesn't usually present itself until the contagious stage is over!! Shes peobably right- but her tone was if to say-why are you bothering me!! double poobags!!!

Roll on 12-when Flynn is at pre-school and I can eat chocolate or cake or both!! without sharing!! lol
have a good day xxx

Effielou · 30/04/2009 10:41

insywinsy Thanks for the comment on the name We are also having a bit of fun with Rupert Edward ( edwards DH middle name ) But here goes if you hadn't already thought it.

Rupert Edward- short- Ted-or Teddy- TeddyBear-- Rupert the bear!!!! Hope that makes sense- it tickles us!!! Hope potential DS finds it funny too!!

Flynn was going to be Flynn Arthur Richard Timms but the initials spelt FART and thought that would be a bit unfair!!

Yes I am warped xxxx

chocciedooby · 30/04/2009 10:46

Morning everyone

Had a better nights sleep.
My "Friends" have about gone now so just the other problems to clear up. I am on antibiotics for water infection and still on laxatives for a few days along with liquid parrafin.

Called the DR again this morning about my new "arrivals" and would you believe there is not a drug licensed in this country for pregnant woman suffering from this! I was literally begging the pharmacist and GP to get me something. Anyway, the good news is they have arranged to have something sent from outside of the country (wholesalers) and they should arrive tomorrow afternoon. I pray that they do.
Insy thanks for your kind words.
Littlesarah thank you as well.
Hope you get to the bottom of your blood test results today. What are they like?!
Ermintrude hope the sun has come through for you. Doesn't look there is any chance of that happening here today. Dull Dull Dull...
ineed so sorry to hear about your Bro but glad he is ok.
Just ate garlic clove on toast. Quite nice actually!!!

chocciedooby · 30/04/2009 10:47

HI June and Mrsmc. Thanks also for your kind words. I do feel I am on the road to getting better now. Just fighting one demon at a time!!

insywinsyspider · 30/04/2009 10:48

effie we had thought of it dc will be called Bear but registered Edward I'd love to just register him Bear but decided a traditional name would be best as a 'formal' name (hence why we also like Rupert as would be Bear too!)

Have you had slapped cheek? ds1 had it when I was pg with ds2 and was told I was ok as I'd had it before and got antibodies

Effielou · 30/04/2009 10:52

Hi Insy I asked my Mum and she couldn't remember had tons of other stuff like chix pox and scarletina ( like the fever but wth a rash ) but she couldn't remember anything else!

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery quick catch up

Ineed Sorry to hear about your bro and his GF but glad everything is fine. Also glad your SPD is not bothering much.

Choccie poor poor you! But glad the "friends" are leaving so you only have to deal with one problem I have no idea about these but glad you managed to contact the doc and that drugs will arrive, hopefully soon. Mmmm enjoy the garlic toast!!

Effie at that MW, how unhelpful! I don't know anything about this either but some other Juners will surely come with tips/advice.

Insy glad to hear things are better

LittleS at your MW... hope she calls you back soon and that you can have all the information at once, hon. Glad yesterday went well and that not much editing is needed

Hi MrsMC and Tee!

Well, I hope I'm not forgetting anyone But if I am, hi to all!

I've just delivered the first part of the long translation (vvvvv technical unfortunately, but now I'm an expert in slitting and rewinding machines ). Back to work as I still have 60 pages of the second part to go...

I finished washing all the LO's clothes and now I can finish preparing the bags Suddenly I feel I need more time!

Waves to all lovely Juners!!!

Naat · 30/04/2009 11:12

Xpost lauraloo! at "wolf whistling"!!!! Glad your hips are better

chocciedooby · 30/04/2009 11:26

Effie My ds's pre-school had a note a few months ago about slap face. I think it is only something to be concerned about if you are under 20 weeks pgt. Best to check it out though in case I am wrong.

lauraloo lol at you wolf whistling.

Insy Good Job that I lurve Garlic eh! . Dh wont mind although he did look slightrly shocked last night as I started muching into a huge raw clove. A bit of garlic breath won't bother him. He has to put up with all the other horrid things I have going on ...what can beat that?! Very embarressing.

Hi naat
louise wow, what a thoughtful and amazing gift.

LittleSarah · 30/04/2009 15:00

Urgh, feel like crying moment, not even baby related (still not heard back from midwife!)

Been trying to clear up whether interview transcripts were needed at the end of my dissertation. Supervisor yesterday leaned towards no but said to email course leader. This I did and course leader said only 'relevant' bits required. I emailed back to ask if that meant all the bits directly and indirectly referenced, I also emailed my supervisor to ask what he thought. So I get on email this afternoon; course leader says 'mostly but your call' and supervisor says I must get more information and that I should have asked this in class!

Argh. ARGH. He drives me mad. No one bloody knows the rules here, everyone's supervisor is saying different things and because I try to get things cleared up I am scolded? I should have asked? I didn't know to ask. Shouldn't he know? Shouldn't there be set rules supervisors should know? I've never done a dissertation before, yet he has supervised many!

Really felt so upset that after what seemed like quite a good meeting yesterday he was so harsh and abrupt.

Then checked other email to get another article rejection and now feel pathetic and teary. I just want to go home to bed and feel sorry for myself but need to do at least an hour's more work on dissertation and then pick up dd.

What's that film again? Oh yeah, 'When will there be good news?'

Effielou · 30/04/2009 15:26

LittleSarah--- I hated doing my dissertation- it drove me mad- and there are some very unhelpful people outthere!!!

Big hugs and I'm sure you will pass with flying colours.

The good news is- that you will be a mummy soon and a cuddle from your LO will make everything better.

Hope that helps a little xx

Lots of Love xxxx

Tee2072 · 30/04/2009 16:02

That totally sucks littlesarah. I've never done a dissertation, but sounds horrid.

As for me? DH is apparently about to be made redundant.

I.Will.Not.Panic.

LittleSarah · 30/04/2009 16:20

Tee - Oh no!! That is actual bad news. Is it certain? Fingers crossed it's not.

Effie - Plenty of unhelpful people and my uni, and each seemed to say different things!

Right off to get dd and buy some cheer up food from Marks.

Left a second message for midwife...

lauraloo09 · 30/04/2009 17:39

tee how awful that must be for you and DH is the redundancy certain or just company thinking about potential redundancy...not that really matters as you and DH don't need the stress at this time fingers crossed your DH gets thro this x

littlesarah like Tee i've never done a dissertation, left uni before i had to but sounds like you have very unhelpful people at your uni, here's hoping you get the answers your looking for and that your midwife gets back to you soon x

LittleSarah · 30/04/2009 17:47

Well no midwife call yet so looks like tomorrow.

However the message on the machine at home was a wee bit different to mobile. Said the levels were a bit high and it depended on when I had last eaten whether to take further. Having looked online it seems your glucose is likely to be higher 1-2 hours after eating, think I might be on the cusp of it being problematic as I ate at 1pm and the blood was taken at 2.45... who knows, guess I'll have to wait and see what midwife says!
