Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

BabyBolat · 17/03/2009 19:46

Ah LuLu (I realise this makes me very sad) but I would love that at the weekend - i would in fact rather that than going away

Just imagine being back in YOUR home tho and not your parents!!

Schulte · 17/03/2009 19:48

I have requested chocolates, flowers, a lie in and breakfast in bed. Do you think that's asking too much? DH actually needs to be reminded otherwise Mothers Day wouldn't happen at all...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 19:50

BB - atack of the fanjo warriors it will be then!!! pack your bags (if you havent done so already) we're off!

Shulte - perfectly acceptable requests IMO

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 19:52

I thought that Schulte, but they just keep doing it! Plus, you'd need multiple windows open, and once you'd posted one would update, and the others would log you out after a while......must stop caring about it!

Mumble - glad you're getting some success with the medicine.

I have no plan for Mothers' Day, other than phoning my own. Perhaps DH will take me out somewhere nice. Would it be really sad to make myself a card, with daffodils made from egg boxes?

No chocolate trifles here , but I think there are the remnants of a tub of ice cream in the freezer...will investigate....

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 19:53

Yessir Fanjo General Sir!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 19:55

Juw - make away not our faults that the babies arent here yet get your dh to make you a daffodil posy and card

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 19:59

just one contraction......
Give it toooooooo meeeeeee.....
delicious braxton.....
in my crevix-eeeeeeee...

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 20:00

Yay - mathsmummy - how exciting!

Schulte - your mother's day sounds ideal.

Ju - I may have to join you in making a daffodil card out of egg boxes for myself - seems increasingly unlikely that anyone else will. But I guess I am getting a house for mother's day, which is pretty good.

OddEyes · 17/03/2009 20:01

Yay! Babypringle congratulations! Glad you got to 37+1 and they didn't interfere too much. Take care

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 20:02

PMSL Nutty that's brilliant.

I'm the exact opposite. Every time I feel the baby lowering down further into my cervix I get all anxious thinking of all the stuff I've got to do before baby comes.

And then I keep remembering (and quickly forgetting again) that DDs b'day is 2 April and I haven't got anything sorted or planned for her. Poor girl.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 20:02

That's fair Lulu. I'll swap you my daffodil card for a house!

Beeeyooootiful music you make, Nutty! I'll second those sentiments

mumblemumhome4lunch · 17/03/2009 20:05

Slow cookers...........

I've killed mine just a few weeks ago and I've not got round to getting a new one yet. It's been like loosing an old friend.

Definately get one all of you that haven't already got one as they are fab. Got my first one years and years ago. Even used to use it when I was sad singleton 'cause my work hours were crap and it was lovely to get home and have tea waiting for you - stews and stuff can pretty much be left in there well over the time necessary to get cooked without too much going wrong.

Very cost effective too

I've done whole chickens, leg/shoulder of lamb and pork joints - no liquid just bung them in and leave for about 6 hours. Don't get the nice brown/crispiness you get with roasting but do get lots of juice that makes fab gravy.

For any budding master chefs you can make great stock in them too.

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 20:05

I'm forcibly bowing out of the thread-finishing competition as my computer crashed (I wonder how long it'll be until someone else figures out how to do it now!)

Puzzle, I didn't say that, but if the cap fits... You should probably wear it, because you don't want any half-thready babies & no idea which thread they're from

Nutty What kind of incubator present do you reckon you'll be receiving? I think I might start dropping some hints that I deserve something Bless your DD & her cards - how cute!

LuLu, I didn't get a card for Valentine's day either. Everyone else seems to get whisked off to lovely places, or spontaneous gifts bought for them... Nothing for me

Schulte, the hard round bit at the top of your bump is probably the bottom

PuzzleRocks · 17/03/2009 20:06

Babypringle - A thousand congratulations. Oscar is a fantastic name, it's what we had chosen had this one been a boy. Sounds like you had a marvellous midwife. And how wonderful to have delivered him yourself. You must be elated.
He is a good size too. Bet you're glad you didn't have to contend with an 11 pounder. Ow.
Good to hear you didn't tear either, it gives me hope of avoiding an episiotomy this time round.
Good luck with the feeding and sleeping.

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 20:07

Oh Schulte and Ju I am pretty sure you are on the right track with the thread finishing knack. Bit like plate spinning though - keeping multiple threads live but not letting them refresh.

There may be another way of doing it, but I certainly haven't thought of it (my brain is very much like Pooh's at the moment too)

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 20:10

Nutty, you can borrow my contractions for a week or so, if you like?

mathsmummy, yay for more show!

mumblemum, glad you're getting medicine into DD - try not to feel too guilty. You know you're doing the right thing. xx

I need to stop wanting to buy a slow cooker - I won't use one yet! I'm obsessed with kitchenware

mumblemumhome4lunch · 17/03/2009 20:12

Yipee for Mathsmummy's show !

DH just home......wants to talk baby names "properly" tonight. We have a bit of a list but nothing standing out for either girl or boy. Quite difficult as both DS and DD have , erm, less than ordinary names and would feel strange for this one to end up a jane/john (no offence to anyone).

It's pretty hard finding a good unusual name ie one that isn't too poncy/celeb-style.

Could be a long night ahead.

Best go get some dinner sorted to fuel us along !

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 20:12

Oooooooh, I love kitchenware. I love my KitchenAid mixer. And my toaster. I don't love my slow-cooker, but it is borrowed, so I don't want to get too attached.

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 20:14

I adore my toaster. It's the best toaster ever - I always feel smug when I see other people's

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 20:14

Springy - if you are having kitchenware fantasies just don't look at the Lakeland catalogue. I made the mistake of going into their shop the other day. Duh! I found myself leaving with 4 green rubber things which are a bit like the LilyPadz breastpads and will apparently help me achieve perfection in poached eggs. But then I remembered I can't eat poached eggs for another few weeks anyway....

Oh well - they didn't cost much.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 20:14

I sense a toaster competition coming on!
