small world Juw! All my friends were at Kings Ed's/Stourbridge College, was a great place to be when of student age!

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:09

M5 J1 - West Bromwich, I believe? It truly is deeelightful Lulu, you really have to be there to believe it!

Boing Boing!

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:09

springy, my sis went to KE's. I live about 10 mins walk from there! I go to aquanatal at Crystal Leisure Centre )

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:10

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:10

LuLu, my family live less than 2 miles from junction 2 of the M5 - you should send him round to visit. It wouldn't be at all awkward

Your day sounds lovely. I'm so - it's things like that that make me really want to be a mum. Apart from the having to perform ring-a-ring-of-roses indefinitely

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:10

Yeah J1 would be West Brom! I live off J4.

Where did you used to live Juw?

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:11

springy - my family also live less than 2 miles from J2 of the M5, handy for Toys R Us!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:11

LuLu - i want to eat cookies in the park

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:11

Boooooo to King Ed's - that's the posh one!! Rumour had it the students couldn't wear jeans and boys had to wear ties!!

I went to Stourbridge College (the not posh one), but I feel I have to say I did an International Baccalaureate as opposed to an NVQ in plumbing, otherwise I may get thrown off MN!

What a small world! I miss being a care-free student!

LuLuBai · 16/03/2009 14:12

ROFL - springy I think I am sporting a hideously threadbare shagpile myself. Hahaha.

Had a basic wax a couple of weeks ago (couldn't face anything exotic like a Brazilian) and then decided to trim remainder (wanting to avoid a scary mohican effect) with a variety of attachments on a beard trimmer. The effect is disastrous. So much so that I don't want DH anywhere near it! Got to make sure I get it sorted out before actual labour.

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:13

They definitely wear jeans there now! They take over the high street at lunchtime, and Mary Stevens Park!

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:14

lol LuLu that's so funny!

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:14

Nutty, I wish I could say 'no pile' but I'm taking up my shagging again soon - I'm full term on Saturday, so I refuse to punish myself much longer!

My favourite memory of Crystal Leisure's from when I was about 8. I went with my school friend & a few of her other friends for her birthday. Me & one of the girls I didn't know both got stuck in the rapids & couldn't swim out, so were left being swept around in circles fearing for our lives until they eventually turned off. We were best friends for years after that

Small world, isn't it? If only people lived in Sheffield where it'd actually be useful to me now!

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:14

I lived in Brierley Hill, Surprise. The Crystal was the best thing ever! That slide! The rapids!!

And I used to work at Boots in Dudley, not far up the road from the aforementioned Toy r Us!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:16

Springy - Furry Muff you can shagpile all you like on saturday

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:16

they have us doing star jumps round the rapids (turned off!) at aquanatal.

My best friend moved to Sheffield a few years ago, she still works there but lives in Chesterfield now.

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:17

I have been to Sheffield, Springy, but only the once, so not enough to be able to reminisce. I was at Uni in Bradford and we got the train down once to visit friend of a friend at Sheffield Uni. All I remember is some hideous monstrosity of a block of flats near the bus station. And presumably we went shopping at Meadowhall, but I don't remember.

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:17

Ju, you should've seen my SF - we got sent home if the fabric of our jackets didn't match our skirts / trousers. Not just the colour, even - the fabric. Skirts had to be at least knee length & neither swishy nor pencil-style. We weren't allowed to take our jackets off around school unless 'shirt sleeve order' was declared, which happened on about 3 of the very hottest days of the year. Boys had to wear ties & were allowed to wear V-neck jumpers, but not round neck. & only in grey, navy or black.

These are only some of the rules. & they were far more relaxed than the uniform rules for the main school.

LuLuBai · 16/03/2009 14:18

There is a Toys R Us there? And DH told me there was nothing at all.

Will have to pack him off shopping for a pressie for DDs upcoming birthday!

Smutty - as soon as you've had the baby you will be back to eating cookies in the park. I went to Victoria Park in Bath. Have you ever been? Took me forever to find a parking space but it was worth it. I don't think I have ever seen such a big playground. DD and I both have sand between our toes now. It felt like we were on holiday.

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:18

the slide is still there too Juwe. The big yellow one that goes outside! My DS's love going on there!

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:18

Ah Nutty, I love you! You must be one of the only other people in the world who says Furry Muff, for fair enough!!!

surprisenumber3 · 16/03/2009 14:20

Lulu, Toys r Us is off J2 but it is only about 5 mins from J1 and you can't miss it so he has no excuse

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:20

Oh, the big yellow slide! Yes! With the little green & red lights to tell you when to go & I'd be so impatient for it to turn green & would sometimes decide that it must be safe by now & just threw myself down the slide, despite the red light, before anyone could stop me Ah, the illicit thrills of childhood

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:20

Crikey Springy, where did you go? King Ed's in Brum? I don't think we had any rules at all. There were only 3 of us on the course, and we got away with murder.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:21

LuLu - ooooohhh Vicky Park in bath is the best!! tis a nightmare to park though, i sympathise, what a lovely day to go there as well i bet your dd loved it
