Gaviscon doesn't work for me either. my sis sent 2 big containers of Tums 'smoothies' from the US and they're working well. i've also found pepp chewing gum helps.

MsG, my moods are so up/down. today felt extrememly irritable and snapped at everyone including Dd1 for not wanting to ride her bike, all the whinging/crying, sibling rivalry, dog continuously barking at toys he 'lost' under the furniture, etc. feeling very low and couldn't give you a reason so am now sitting here with a chamomile tea trying to relax. [slowly exhales]

am writing my birthplan tonight since our nct one to one is on tue. i just want to write one sentence about administering an epidural straight away, no question .

friend of mine just had her 2nd baby this morn, a 7lb 7 boy. woke up at 2.30, went to hosp and had baby 35 min after arriving in hosp! wish that were me. neither of my 2 labours were that quick so there is no reason to expect no. 3 will be any quicker.

chocolatebunnies · 15/03/2009 20:41

Evening Girlies,

I have put up two more pics of my bump for you all, I am certainly getting big now! Argh am scared

I have developed a hge craving for toffee popcorn, not the most healthy thing, but I cant get enough!

Re: Heartburn/Cramp - I had it so unbelivably bad in my first pregnancy, heartburn was so bad at one point I thought I was having a heart attck! but this time I haven't had either! Maybe this is a sign of it not being a girl! Who knows!

I was taken into hospital on Friday, Re. the tingly numbness in my hands and my headaches, saw the Dr at 3.20, was rushed up to hospital has he wanted me to go for an emergency scan, so we rush up there, me panicing that they were going to whip the baby out! Get to a&e and spend the whole evening sat in casualty, I had to discharge myself at 11.30pm as I had had enough, I had been there since I left the Drs, I felt fine, but then I felt fine when I saw the Dr, I just wanted to make sure it was pregnancy related, all they did the whole time I was there was take blood, they didnt offer me any food or drink, I kept asking how long I had to wait as I was heavily pregnant and had a 2 year old to get home to and no one could give me an answer, the registrar saw me at 6.30 and said it was pregnancy related and he was 90-95 % sure it was nothing to worry about but I had to wait to see an Orthopeadic (sp?) dr to check and to be let home, something to do with my neck?? and by 11, I had not heard or seen anyone else so I left! Got my notes and have to see Dr tomorrow and be referred through outpatients, why they didnt do that in the first place I do not know!

All us poorly ladies, in and out of hospital, we need to start taking it easy, not long to go!!!!!!!!!!

pulapula · 15/03/2009 20:55

chocbunnies- poor you - terrible to have to wait in hospital so long with no information about what they were keeping you in for. Hope everything feels more normal now and yes, your bump has definitely grown a lot since your last photos. I might post some more of my bump soon, and maybe dig out some of me when I was ready to pop DD and DS out to compare against!

chocolatebunnies · 15/03/2009 21:01

pulapula it was a ruddy nightmare, I was on my own as well as DP had to go and I had tried explaining to them I hadnt eaten since lunch time and being pregnant, I needed some food or atleast a drink, but as I was on my own I couldnt go to the shop to get anything, I was offered a sandwich (Im a coeliac so allergic to wheat/gluten) told nurse I couldnt have it for that reason and she said oh how about a biscuit! she then went and that was that, no food for me, someone went to get me a cup of tea at 9pm and god knows where that went as I never saw it!

Am I looking too big now?? Im a bit concerned, but then I did just do those pics so its in the evening, I always feel biggr in the evenings!

We had a picnic in our garden today, was lovely! Was so warm and sunny! Had to put the old suncream and hat on Madi! Ooooeeerr!

flippineck · 15/03/2009 21:50

Grrr...I'd typed quite a long reply and my internet connection died when I posted it! Having real problems at the moment with it.

Anyway, basically I think I'd said something about it taking ages to catch up with you all as usual.

chocalatebunnies - rubbish treatment at the hospiatl, hope you get some proper answers soon. No idea about sizing etc, but I htink your bump looks lovely! I'm certainly bigger than you, but am 32+2 now.

daizydoo - what sad news for your friend.

travel systems etc - we didn't bother getting the car seat that goes with our pushchair for DD because it's not isofix, and we decided that isofix was more important to us than being able to put the seat on the buggy. I don't drive and DH has the car for work anyway, so would very rarely be in the position of needing to transfer baby from car to pushchair.

DH got back from his work trip yesterday, we all survived the week! He was very jetlagged, and I was shattered (DD back to awking before 6 every day) but we're all in one piece. Although apparently while he was away he was worried about me going into labour - I'd told him about sorting the frezer out and cooking stuff and he thought that I was nesting (I really don't do nesting of any description ever!) and about to give birth!

Beautiful day here too. DH took DD to the park this afternoon, they were out for hours and she walked miles, hopefully she'll sleep a bit later tomorrow morning.

flippineck · 15/03/2009 21:54

Oh, sorry about all the typos, was so cross about losing everything that I was rushing!

Plenty of sicky burps here too, and I seem to have very little space left in my stomach, permanently have a something (head or botom, who knows?!) wedged under my ribs and squashing everything.

Belgianchocolates · 15/03/2009 22:05

chocbunnies your bump is definitely not too big and has done quite a bit of growing in the last 4 weeks, which is good. You must have a really really flat stomach when not pg for your bump to be so nice and neat, I bet you're just all baby. I'd say my bump was bigger than yours 2 weeks ago (am 32 now). I'll have to get my dcs to take another bump picture. For some reason DH is not a good one for taking pictures.

Off to bed now. Goodnight everyone.

detsy · 15/03/2009 22:06

Hallo all x
Gorgeous day here too - so lovely to see some sunshine. We made cakes this morning and went to a shire horse farm (with other animals) this afternoon. Encouraged Lotti to walk and run everywhere so she is hopefully well and truly zonked for the evening!! However her big teeth are cutting and little gums look awfully sore

I'd post up tp date bump pics but not got a wide angle lens so can't... am large to say the least but really off food. Certainly less "fat" then I had with Lots but more bump which I suppose is a good thing for me. Pip is doing acrobatics all the time - guess he's making the most of it before he runs out of room. Only 8 weeks to go - oh my goodness!

I used my maxi cosi car seat on my buggy frame a lot for short trips. Only used a carrycot for days out etc and they grow out of those so fast but have ordered a new one for the new pram.

Got a couple more days off so am planning to buy remaining bits, pack bag and order fitted wardrobe for the nursery.

Off to bed now - walking and fresh air has tired me out as well, night all x

detsy · 15/03/2009 22:14

Oh sorry pula thanks for the tips about the night feed - yes she does wake for it and demand it, if I just try to settle her off without. Will have to get tough and try and wean her off it slowly - can't bear the yelling if I just say no or offer water As you say I def want to be assured that its no longer a requirement within the next few weeks!!

momi your succinct birth plan made me laugh! I'm hoping for a speedy, natural, calm, beautific birth with no grazes let alone stitches in unmentionables. Last time I had to listen to a running commentary about Aberdeen knots as MW was with a jnr doc who had never witnessed a natural birth (or the aftermath!! )

Apparently our delivery suites have all been refurbed and have swish facilities now - like those fancy beds that do fun things with grip bars at the foot end etc. Last time is was all very antiquated and tired (rather like myself...)

detsy · 15/03/2009 22:18

But.....shock news, I have started to put make up on again in the day.... Have been feeling much better the last week or so - DP's cpap machine is finally sorted so he is no longer snoring like a train and LOtti is sleeping better generally - gosh it makes SUCH a difference and means I don't walk about in the day looking like the living dead!!

detsy · 15/03/2009 22:19

Oh sorry one more thing...belgian when you say there is a play area at Trentham - do you mean at monkey place or Gardens. I'm unsure where the play area is that is near or in a coffee place?

Momino · 15/03/2009 22:22

chocbunnies, what I would give for your nice, neat bump that is certainly not too big! i'm sure my bump is twice yours.

i've put a pic of my 33 week bump and strangely I think i looked bigger in my 28 week pic that's beneath it.

i'm off to bed as well. good night.

sausagenmash · 15/03/2009 22:29

OMG. Dp took some pictures of my bump today (am 29 +4) and there is NO WAY I am putting them up - I look like I'm carrying triplets!! Choc your bump is amazing! Clearly I'm eating far too many pies as well I'm a bit worried now. I'm eNORmous!

Thanks for the concerns re my migraine btw, MsG and others - fortunately I usually only get a couple a year - and even then its usually stress related or because my period is due... obv not the latter!

Choc (again) - poor you re the hospital episode. That sounds awful. Grr, some people. I remember when my Nan was in A&E for about 5 hours a few years ago for 'dehydration' - they didn't give her anything to drink either - duh!

Belgian - I've been popping the gaviscon tablets like sweets! (well, sort of!) We're also going through tons of milk cos I've taken to having a big glass of that before bed time too.

Daizydoo - so sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully with the kindness from friends like you she should be able to feel loved and supported through such a terrible time.

Right - night all!

SpangleMaker · 15/03/2009 22:34

chocbunnies sorry you had such an awful time at the hospital. Your bump looks lovely and neat... in comparison I look like a space hopper!! I'm small though, so I guess a baby bump is going to look big on me.

Had a nice shopping trip today to one of those designer outlet places. Bought DH a shirt & some trousers for his birthday and a few things for LO from Monsoon. I'm a bit disappointed at how few nice things there are for boys in comparison to girls... oh well, means I'll spend less I suppose

detsy we were over your way this evening (in Wheelock). DH's friend has the same b'day as him & we ended up kind of gatecrashing his do at a local restaurant as we just rang as we were passing to see if they were around.

Re meet up how about first week in April? Can we all do weekdays or would a weekend be better?

llareggub · 16/03/2009 06:07

Morning all!

I had a rude awakening this morning. Poor old DS was soaking wet by 5am so I had to strip him and his bed, and then bring him in with me in the hope he'd sleep a bit longer. He then wet our bed, so by 6am I've done 2 loads of washing through bleary eyes. I didn't sleep well anyway, between cramp and braxton hicks!

chocolatebunnies I hope you are feeling better this morning.

Blottedcopybook · 16/03/2009 08:14

I woke up in a good mood then managed to upset DH and I'm fuming now. On Saturday, DS2 was jumping on the bed and landed on my ankle which was flexed so I don't know how he didn't break my ankle, but it really hurts. DH came upstairs and being the clumsy oaf that he is stood on something at the side of the bed and fell on my ankle with his elbow. I'm seeing stars it was that sore, and I told him I was sock of him hurting me through his clumsiness.

So now he's in a huff. And actually I'm not fuming, I'm quite upset because it's my birthday and he managed to get cards from him and the kids but no present. And my stupid family haven't texted despite them all having jobs and needing to be on the way to work by now.

And now I'm crying. God I really hate these hormones

bantam73 · 16/03/2009 09:02

Morning everyone

We had our 2nd growth scan on friday and our baby is a good size but not too big at approx. 5 LB and my waters have increased to a normal level after our loss the other wk.
But the only problem is that it's transverse again, the hospital have penciled me in for a appointment at 37 wks to try and turn it!!!!

sausagenmash · 16/03/2009 09:43

Happy birthday blottedcopybook - hope you get the lovely present you deserve, and your family text soon! I 'wasn't speaking' to my Mum a couple of years ago around my birthday - I didn't get a thing! No text, email, call, card, nothing! Honestly!

And I know what you mean about the hormones - I was watching 'The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency' repeat on telly yesterday afternoon before the new series started last night. I was in absolute floods at mma ramotswe's dad's funeral. Dp thought it was really funny

llare - maybe you could nab a snooze later?!

bantam - hope your little one manages to turn round by themselves!

Can't believe I'm 30 weeks this week - bloomin' eck, where is the time going??!!

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 09:44

Morning everyone. It's gorgeous here today and if it stays like that it'll be warm too.

blotted Your DH sounds like me. It's not nice when you get hurt, but at the same time it's difficult for clumsy people to stop themselves from being clumsy. I've elbowed my dh in bed more than once, not on purpose, but still not nice for him. I do apologise profusely every time. As for your b'day. Last year I only had a card from my dh on my b'day and nothing from my family or his. It was my 30th as well, so I thought people would make a bit more of an effort too. Anyway, lots of tears and anger from my side and this year everyone did their utmost to make it an enjoyable experience, my parents even took me out to a posh restaurant and we had real champagne. Do make a fuss and make everyone feel really guilty. You're pregnant and you deserve a nice b'day surprise!

detsy as far as I could see on the website there was also an adventure play area in the garden part. I'm not sure how close to it is to a cafe, but I'd rather go somewhere like that than a city centre with dcs in tow. They can run around and be safe, away from cars and traffic and the like.

spangle the 1st week of april sounds fine to me and I can do any day because of the school holidays.

Right better do some ironing now. I discovered this morning I only had long sleeved and wooly mat tops left and the weather looks so nice that I really wanted something lighter. I'm now wearing a normal T-shirt, it's a bit stretched, but long enough. Trying on all my T-shirts did make me late for school this morning, but I couldn't go in just my bra now, could I?

Febes · 16/03/2009 10:03

Happy birthday Blotted !!!!!
Gorgeous day here too. I have my legs bared well ankles really. But I haven't shaved my legs in recent history so hopefully noone gets too close.

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 10:43

bantam Plenty of time for lo to still turn around. Try the having your bum up in the air technique. Your hips need to be higher than your chest and that's supposed to give baby more space to help it turn. I know it worked for me. I had become paranoid about having a breech baby and so I spend several times a day on my bed reading a book in that position (not v comfortable with SPD). After about 2 days I suddenly felt baby move around and ever since baby's movements have been mainly aimed at my ribs and top half of my bump! The midwife also thought it was head down after that. Worth a try!

Blottedcopybook · 16/03/2009 11:01

Thanks everyone

Belgian That makes sense. I know he doesn't mean it but it still puts me in a right mardy strop! He's usually brilliant at the presents thing and to be fair, it's been a catalogue of disasters for him over the last few days when he's gone to try and get my present but still. It's not like he didn't know it was coming!

Bantam Is it for ECV? Can I advise you to do as much research as you can before you go, and also have a look at this website for tips to get baby into optimum position? I was booked in for ECV with DS2 and really really didn't want it so I sat on my birthing ball, spent as much time as possible on all fours with my bum in the air and generally modifying my posture - he had turned by the appointment the day before the ECV was scheduled. Baby still has tons of time! I'm also sitting breech at 29w so I'll be doing the same

I need to make my birthday cake today, can't decide whether to actually bake one or whether to cheat and get one from Sainsburys. Or use the rest of DS2's from last week! He got four cakes and was so sick of sweet stuff by the end of his party that the cake has just sat there!

MsG · 16/03/2009 11:37

chocolatebunnies, that sounds awful - hope you are OK - have you seen your GP yet? Your bump looks great!

Happy Birthday Blottedcopybook!! Hope you get some lovely presents later. I hate it when people don't text/call/send cards straightaway on my birthday! I take it really personally! I'd use one of the cakes left over if I were you - saves you the effort of either making one or buying one!

Has everyone been having their fundus measured? My midwife hasn't once used a tape measure. She just feels around and says it all seems fine. I trust her as she seems really good, but I thought by now they were meant to be measuring it? I meant to ask her last week but got distracted because a student midwife was in with her. I will definitely ask next time though.
x

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 12:28

Mrs G Measuring should start from 28 weeks onwards. So if you weren't quite 28 weeks at your last appt you should get measured next time.

Blotted Use a ready made cake or a left over one from your ds. Unless you really love baking off course. It's your b'day, you should be putting your feet up!

MsG · 16/03/2009 12:49

I was 28 weeks, just - wonder why she didn't?? I'm going back at 31 weeks and will definitely ask her then if she doesn't measure.

Yeah, Blotted, you should be putting your feet up really!! So do what you want to re the cake. xx
