Ladies, I just wanted to wish you all the best on your forthcoming babies.
I was going to join this thread but unfortunately my pg ended. I have only just been able to skim the thread and take some delight in your news.
All the best to you all.
xx

pulapula · 13/03/2009 14:58

Deckchair - thanks for your warm wishes and sorry to hear that your pg ended. It must be very difficult for you to read our thread given your circumstances.

I know when i had an early mc i used to look at the thread where i "should have been" but this did get easier once i got pg with DS. I wish you all the best in the future if you decide to TTC again.

divedaisy · 13/03/2009 15:29

Thanks for all your Happy Birthday wishes! I did a few hours work, then wallowed in the bath for a while reading my James Patterson book. Mum picked ds up from school and brought me lovely yellow roses and a birthday cake! Along with a pressie (Bio-oil) from my sister and a surprise pressie from one of my Aunts! My mum is wanting to take me and my sister to a spa, so I'm really looking forward to that - though it would need to be fairly soon! And last night ds & dh took me out to a tapas restraunt, so I had a lovely day!

Frazzle - thanks for the cocktail! I didn't get a mojito - somply because I forgot to ask for one!!

Belgian - the sugar pressies are really lovely idea - though I'd never be organised enough to do them (& I'd eat all the almonds!!!)

Chocolatebunnies - what a horrid thing to post on facebook. Why do people say 'don't do it', 'oh you'll be under the thumb' etc about getting married?? It really makes me angry. Making arrangements never is easy because it is hard to please everyone - but it is YOUR day and people have to see that clearly. This is tiring you out too on top of being heavily pregnant - I think I'd end up having an emotional, hormonal outburst about it all!!

Fi - any news on the house??

I too have the pointy belly thing and although I knew it was because the abdominal muscles seperate, and am aware of the advice to roll up etc - does it really cause long term/permanent damage to the abdominal walls later on??

I also have a bladder the size of a pea and am waking every 45-60 minutes at night to go to the loo which is so annoying esp when I only do a drop!! So i am getting quite tired. I think myself lucky if I manage to get 3-4 hours sleep after 4am...

divedaisy · 13/03/2009 15:30

Away to get a bit more housework done then GP appointment at 4pm...

Belgianchocolates · 13/03/2009 16:05

I just got back from Brum and I spotted a celebrity today: Gok Wan. Sooo exciting: they were filming Gok Wan's new TV show for Channel 4 in Selfridges, so I watched that for a bit until I really really had to go to pick up the dcs from school.

Deckchair I don't know you, but you have my sympathies for your miscarriage, I had one in June last year. And wish you all the best for the future if you're ttc again.

I went to the osteopath today. He said that because I've left it so long I'll need several treatments. I must say that I can't really feel much difference at the moment. I did have the bad idea to sweep the decking today, causing me to need my crutches for the rest of the day. I was just a bit fed up looking at chicken poo and saw dust every time I looked out of the window.

I've found a good present for my ap (I think) and as it's her last day tomorrow I'll take her to Cadbury world too. I have been pregnant the whole time she's been here and have not taken her anywhere. Normally I take ap's sightseeing a bit more often so I thought it would be nice to have done at least something during her time with us.

I'll mention the Citroen C8 to my dh, but tbh he's got some sort of predjudice against French cars . I've tried to talk him out of it ever since I've met him, but he's being a bit stubborn.

sausagenmash · 13/03/2009 17:03

Deckchair - it must be so hard for you to read this thread - my heart goes out to you, and I wish you lots of luck, like the others, if you ttc again xx

llare - - it was only in the Holiday Inn!

Choc - pfffft they're all probably dead jealous deep down! You just do what you want - I annoyed my parents initially for deciding NOT to get married before LO comes along - they're fine with it now, but there were a few tense moments for a while!

  • wish I was doing a spa thing too. Am off to my parents in a few weeks, and Mum's booked me in for a waxing (hurrah) - dp said my legs look like a man's and I daren't even attempt to look at the ladygarden area (not that I CAN, but you know what I mean!)

Anyone else's boobs ever go really hot?!!

We're buying our moses basket tomorrow (not getting anything cot like until we move in July, so have to, otherwise LO will sleep in a crate) - am SOOO excited! Dp also wants to brave Hamleys on Regent Street... eek...

Jael · 13/03/2009 17:10

Hello Ladies, I've been off for a couple of days, got rushed into hospital wednesday night, as they thought baby was coming. Was v.scary. Got put straight into a delivery suite, got prodded tons, bloods took etc the works, turns out it was a flase alarm. I had a continuous contraction that lasted over an hour and a half, the pain was hurrendous, my bely was rock solid for all this time, I had the backache and everything. They were trying to shove all sorts of pain relief down my neck lol was not very nice at all,i had to stay in, but I'm home now. And they still can't tell why it happened.

On the meet up. I live in Stafford, erm but I don't drive, and cannot push DD in her pushchair atm she is 3 so I'm thinking about getting rid very soon, but if your thinking bout meeting somewhere far I kinda have to rely on public transport. We could get to Trentham, I think I can get a bus there from my town. XX

Momino · 13/03/2009 17:13

Deckchair, all best wishes to you. xx

divedaisy, sounds like you haed a lovely day!

all, hope you all having a good day. what's on the plan for tonight? I might catch up on work email in front of the telly (so really, won't be doing any work).

Belgianchocolates · 13/03/2009 17:29

Jael Oh, that sounds scary. I'm happy to hear you're all right now though.

I'm equally at spa days. I've been hinting for one for ages, but I think my hints are going to have to be a bit more obvious like a spa brochure lying around! I really think I deserve one with my SPD and stuff.

sausagen my boobs only go as hot as the rest of me (I wake up soaked half the time), but they do still get tender every so often, just like at the beginning of my pregnancy. Have fun buying your moses basket tomorrow. I keep looking at them, having to restrain myself to buy one!

I've bought a good book today too: Stand and deliver. It's sort of funny and light hearted but full of facts about how giving birth can be a good and enjoyable experience. The message is the same as Ina May Gaskin or Sheila Kitzinger, but much more light hearted. It's even made me laugh.

SweetBROODY · 13/03/2009 17:36

Golly gosh you guys are quick page 20 already! I?m only on page 9 trying to catch up again?..! I am exhausted today had a tough day yesterday at the hospital? ALL DAY! First I had a blood test then physio then Diabetes check and then pharmacy! It?s not easy all this pregnancy lark is it!

Happy Anniversary to the ladies having them... mines around the corner... 19th and 22nd April! (We had two ceremonies) interesting so many May babies with April weddings? Wonder why that is?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa Dime bar cake?!?! Yes please where can i get those from?

llareggub I kept feeling burst of energy and doc warned me against napping to much ? it was messing with my sugars its so frustrating sometimes trying to juggle so many diff conditions! Is it really 40 weeks they wont let you go over?? They are trying to force induction at 38 weeks and I would much rather wait a bit longer? 38 weeks doesn?t seem that far.. and is actually quite scary!

I havent got my bag ready yet but I do have loads and loads of lists that I have been ticking of since about 16 weeks.. DH commented that the list doesn?t get shorter even if I tick things off! LOL
Now going to catch up the last lot of pages and hopefully comment!

llareggub · 13/03/2009 17:41

jael that sounds scary, are you OK now? Take it easy, won't you?

sweetBROODY I am having my c-section at 38 weeks. DS was born at 37 weeks and I could barely walk by then last time. I am feeling a lot better with this pregnancy so I won't be too bothered if they decide to operate at 39 weeks, but it would be nice if I only have to wait another 6 weeks! I had a scare with my sugars as my morning readings were getting higher, but I realised I'd been injecting incorrectly so not getting the full dose of insulin. I'm much better now.

belgian Gok must live around here then. I've seen him shopping in Solihull and Brum.

alapala · 13/03/2009 17:42

Hey all

Have completely failed to catch up - my you move fast. Just had an ace 5 days on the beach in canaries. For once a holiday worked out as we hoped, although it rather messed up the recent potty training.. DS even did a poo on the terrace and I didnt have my contacts in and thought it was a banana ..was wondering why DH looked so shocked..

llareggub · 13/03/2009 17:52

alapala ewwwww!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 13/03/2009 18:15

deckchair so sorry to hear your sad news, and best wishes if you do decide to ttc again

alapala glad to hear you had a nice holiday, and lol at the poo/banana incident!

re-meeting up i would love to meet some of you, would be great to know the faces behind the names but i live right down south in southampton and dont drive so would never be able to make any of the suggested meeting points as wouldnt trust muself on a train id almost definalty get lost!

jael so sorry to hear about your scare it must have been very worrying for you, glad to hear everythings ok now though, take care

sweetbroody wow your day at hospital yesterday does sound exhausting, hope your taking it easy today to make up for it.

think i may have to go shopping 2moro to start getting things sorted for my hospital bag ive still got 12wks to go but spose it wont hurt to be perpared after all you never know whats gonna happen with this pregnancy lark do you?!

i am too very at all these lovely spa days being had and planned id just love it, think its just what id need but dont drive so couldnt go alone and dont even know if there is any down here in this area.

sausagenmash i dont really get hot boobs but they do get rather itchy at times, and have started leaking loads but they did this with ds too.

divedaisy glad you had a lovely day

im looking 4ward to mothers day thinking i may get a lil treated but thats prob wishful thinking dp never does romantic on the spot things off his own accord, i literally have to spell it out to him or better still just arrange it myself!

im gonna enjoy my evening in alone very much tonight, ds is staying at nanny's (my mum) for the night shes so good to me really im very lucky and dp is off out with mates i could go along but dont really fancy it gonna stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet and watch some of my tv for a change should do my mountain ironing pile but dont know if i can face it, relaxing sounds very much more appealing but it would do it itself i spose and its been sitting there piling up for whats probley nearing a few weeks

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 13/03/2009 18:19

thats spose to be 'it wont do itself' wow now that a nice thought clothes that ironed themselves someone should really invent some sort of ironing machine id be first to sign up for one i just hate ironing, it get so hot and normally have to strip off and then normally end up burning my now very sticking out tummy ouch!!

Momino · 13/03/2009 18:27

jael, sorry - cross posted earlier. so glad you're ok after the scare.

Belgianchocolates · 13/03/2009 18:33

dime bar cakes are sold in Ikea for those of you who want to have one.

alapala Just as well that you didn't try and pick up that "banana"!

Our anniversary is in June, so we will have had a baby within a year of getting married too. I actually put off our ttc after dh proposed. He proposed 2 weeks after I had my coil removed . I wanted to be slim, not sicky, able to walk and drink on our wedding and wear my dream dress. When I was pg with our 1st my MIL was v. angry we weren't married and didn't acknowledge the pregnancy until I was very clearly pregnant. With no2 she'd accepted that we weren't going to do things properly and now with no3, well, she's happy that we're finally doing it properly!

SweetBROODY · 13/03/2009 18:34

I had a little leak at 27 weeks I was so embarrassed and a little scared! I couldn?t believe it had come out of my boob even though I had convinced myself I was going to breastfeed! Lol DH laughed because I?d only been having a rant about the Cravendale advert before then... he thought it was hilarious!

BelgianchocolatesI quite fancied a small wedding... but my dad wouldn?t let us! We ended up with 1500 people at the wedding and it was a 4 day event... Parents did pay for the whole thing though?.
Loved your story about DS... He sounds adorable... that?s why we do all this isn?t it... For moments like that, which make you smile!

ladyofmuswell I?m so glad you booked it! How was it??? WE really enjoyed ours and I know its not something everyone else wants to see... but when my mum saw it she got all emotional and teary!

llareggub I?m getting a lot of low sugars that I have to fix... which is really hard and annoying? but I?ve had my insulin changed so hopefully that won?t be the case for much longer!

Polony That would be great mine is [email protected].. I found bananas didn?t really help and bought on constipation! So I stopped?

Jael and others? I know what you mean about ppl not taking an interest and this one?s our first? my PIL have booked a holiday to celebrate their anniversary the very week they know I?m due? TBH I just think if they can?t be bothered... their loss!

Page 17 I'm almost there!!!

Belgianchocolates · 13/03/2009 18:37

SweetBROODY Can't remember what I said about my ds, but yes he is adorable and he loves vacuuming, which comes in very handy at the moment! My dd was funny this morning too. I just got out of the shower and she saw my bump was wet, so she said: Oh no, mama, you've made the baby all wet!

SweetBROODY · 13/03/2009 18:45

Page 19!! You guys must think I am crazy.. I hate to feel like i've missed soemthing though so I always read everything!

Divedaisy HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, what did you do celebrate?!

ladyofmuswell I?m so glad it went well... It?s a nice little set up isn?t it!

Andrina that would be fab!! It would be nice to meet people in the same boat... I don?t really know anyone else yet!

LoobyLou36 bananas are high carb? and therefore high sugar?

pulapula · 13/03/2009 18:50

We waited to TTC until the month before our wedding as I'd ordered the dress and was worried it might not fit if we started sooner. Good job we waited as we got pg straightaway so our DD was born in Dec after an April wedding. Not sure how many people did the maths but we found out we were pg on our honeymoon

SweetBROODY · 13/03/2009 18:58

Jael that does sound scary... are you alright now?

llareggub it sounds scary though to think it?s not that far in the future? My mum was giving me ideas on how to bring on labor before they decide to induce.. I think I read on these threads that inductions are more painful then normal labor?

MatthewAndBumpsMummy no taking it easy for me! Still at work ? admittedly have been catching up for the last hour!

Belgian it was the story of when he reads to himself! it made me smile!

Blottedcopybook · 13/03/2009 19:28

I've only had one spontaneous labour out of three - my first induction was my second baby and it was horrific, not because of the induction but because of the hospital's procedure. When I was induced last time I went to a different hospital and it was night and day, absolutely brilliant and I would happily be induced there again.

Being induced can mean a more painful labour but it doesn't always follow. With my first induction I had prostin on the Sat morning, prostin on the Sat night, another dose at 5am on the Sunday morning and they broke my waters at 11am when I was barely 2cm dilated. I was in so much pain so quickly that they gave me an epidural before putting me on the drip so I could cope. Unfortunately I had an extreme reaction to the drip and had to have it turned down, I was very close to an emergency c-section and I was really done in after the birth - he was delivered at 9.40pm.

Second induction was GREAT! They gave me prostin pessaries over two days (Wednesday and Thursday) then agreed to let me rest on the Friday before starting again with the prostin on the Saturday. If I hadn't gone into labour myself by the Saturday night then they were planning to get me on a drip and attempt to break my waters. As it happened, my waters went themselves just after midnight on the Thursday night/Friday morning, I was contracting regularly within the hour and went for a bath an hour after that to get comfortable. Hubby arrived at 4.30am, midwife asked me to move from the bath to the pool and examined me whilst the pool was running. I was 5cm at that point. Got in the pool, sent hubby to get the camera and he left the room with the midwife who was grabbing the birthing packs. Literally as they walked out the door I screamed at them to come back because I had a contraction and DDs head popped out! Two pushes later she was swimming around in the pool, official delivery time was 5.27am.

So - induction can be a difficult, painful experience but it depends on how your delivery unit approach it. I would seriously advise any pregnant woman to interrogate your midwife about your hospital's policy because the difference it makes is out of this world.

Blottedcopybook · 13/03/2009 19:32

Oh - I should mention that DS was FINALLY born 13 days after his due date. I had been eating pineapple, having clary sage in my bath, taking raspberry leaf tea capsules, had a stretch & sweep at every mw appointment from 38 weeks, practically mounted my hubby every night when he got in from work (and occasionally in the morning too before he left, poor soul) - I'd even tried popping evening primrose oil capsules up my vajayjay. He was not for coming out at all. The moral of that there story is that unless your body is ready for labour, none of these remedies will make a difference and if your body is ready then things will happen without your intervention!

FiKelly · 13/03/2009 20:36

dh is on laptop but just wanted to pop on to catch up.. so on my phone at mo. I've just read through the last few pages I'd missed since this morning and I now can't remember what i was going to say and to who.. and it's not easy to scroll back on my phone. so apologies for not being able to comment properly.

it's been another roller coaster day of emotions re our flat sale. we got a much better offer from the interested people from mon this morning. but still left a shortfall for the new persimmon house. dh had taken today off to try and get it sorted with persimmon.. he got an appointment today with a financial advisor too just to see if there was anyway we could finance the shortfall.. but we just can't do it. So we've accepted the good offer on our flat and are now going to look at the plentiful choice of pre-owned homes available and knock them down a bit. our buyers are cash buyers with no chain & we're ready to port our mortgage so this puts us in a good bargaining position. our buyers will give us time to find somewhere to buy.. so just got to find another house that ticks all our boxes and complete before baby arrives if pos! dh internet browsing at mo so off to look at houses have a great night all and catch up tomorrow!
