im 19 and due to have my first baby on the 24th march but im being induced on the 12th. i always get judged by people as i dont look my age. wheneva i go out people stare and make comments it realy makes me paranoid.i dont get why people judge without knowing our situation i mean im still living at home and plan on stayin here for a good few years. im going back to college and work after iv had baby as i hate being on benifits.i just dont get why we are judged we make good mums aswell just coz we are young it dont mean we not gna be as good as a older mum.

No, if you read the OP, she is on benefits. Delighted to hear the ex-now-current-again-for-just-now is working. Permanent contract, I hope?

Haribosmummy · 05/03/2009 21:50

Who needs to sustain a relationship, MOONDOG, when the Govt. is so happy to step in and help out?

LadyOfWaffle · 05/03/2009 21:51

Heya YMTB, I have skipped up the thread without reading much (have DS on my lap) but wanted to offer a few words of support I had DS1 at 19 and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Just focus on being the best mum you can be and you will be as good as any other mum, regardless of age. Stick around - MN is a wonderful place for advice/support. I see you are being induced - I was induced with my first, it was fine Good luck!

You're really not coming across as fluffy and cuddly and pink are you LEM? You might care to review some of the language you have been using about other posters and gauge whether or not this is suitable for the site.

youngmumtobe · 05/03/2009 21:55

ANd, supersalstrawberry - no one is saying you did. I've already said that to Scorpio...

THIS OP has already SAID she's on benefits (or benifits, if you prefer)

No one is having a go at you SSS (or indeed, YMTB - I just think she needs get off her high horse and understand why people MIGHT feel a bit about the whole thing)

catinthehat1 · 05/03/2009 21:56

Sally S -
"I was a teenage mum
I wasn't supported by the state
and I didn't spend your fucking taxes"

EXACTLY!!! But she is busy spending yours.

paolosgirl · 05/03/2009 21:57

Ah, well if you weren't spending our fucking taxes then you are not in the same league as the OP then, were you?

Not a bad day at work, thanks for asking, and a few more pounds put into the kitty for youngmumtobe.

Ah, a great deal of call for tap dancing these days.
Definitely someone taking the piss just to see how many people loom up screaming in Pavlovian choral response

'Us young mmz r gr8'

Funny though.

paolosgirl · 05/03/2009 22:07

No, please don't try and defend the nonsense.

Performing arts??? Oh, this just gets better! Is this in preparation for your appearance on Jeremy Kyle?

izzybiz · 05/03/2009 22:07

I had my Ds at 16, I was on benefits till he started school and I went to work, I have been paying my taxes ever since, he is 16 now.

I think I have made a fantastic job of raising him to the young man he is becoming, he is leaving school and going on to collage this year, my age had nothing to do with what sort of mother I am.

What you need to make sure, is you are the best mum you can be, grow a thick skin, as soon as you are able, you owe it to yourself and your child to support yourselves, man or no man.

Good luck.

youngmumtobe · 05/03/2009 22:08

izzybiz thank you. xox
