Puzzle - if you really do manage to do a live birth thread I will have the easiest buddying job going won't I !

LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 21:00

Yes it makes me really grumpy that they try and induce you when you reach a certain date. They tortured me last time by making me schlep across town for appointments and various clinics every day that I was overdue (I was 'difficult' and refused to be induced). My midwife has already said she doesn't want me to go overdue this time - simply because according to that oh-so-accurate tape measure on belly technique my baby is measuring large. Makes me so angry!

frostyfrekkles · 02/03/2009 21:04

hello lasses, i'm back and i've moved house and am surrounded by boxes feeling extremely surreal and anxious.

bloody hell i can't believe springy has been having contractions and barbarelly is popping tommorow! it's all going far too fast for me. hope you're ok today springy, and my love to barberelly. amazing to think tommorow will be the best day of your life (so everyone says!)

hello too to everyone else, you smutty, swelling bunch of cyber minxigans , and a big hello to our new preggers pals xx

Lots of feelings abounding for me now. was hoping to feel happy and relaxed when i'd moved, but am now feeling so anxious, having panic attacks over the last few days . really scared that i've picked the wrong flat as it's a basement flat and i've been panicking about it being quite dark and me feeling like a prisoner when the baby comes. feeling overwhelmed with the amount of unpacking to do and the fact i can't move anything myself.

it's all a bit weird, moving with a boy again....

BoffinMum · 02/03/2009 21:07

Hello again,

Had quite a good day, SPD wise, so went out in wheelchair with DD. Had lunch out, saw Confessions of a Shopaholic at the cinema, then bought some posh make up and so on for a little pre-baby makeover.

Re: Home birth. There isn't much in the so-called 'pack' - umbilical cord ties, inco pads, IV set, that kind of thing. The mw brings the rest of the stuff on the day - drugs, gas and air, resus equipment. Honestly, you could decide on a HB on the day and it wouldn't be that difficult for them to organise the equipment IMO. If you're umming and ahhing it's best to book the HB and then change your mind later as then the mw can plan a bit more easily, but you can have a HB at any time.

BoffinMum · 02/03/2009 21:09

I have been betting on DS3 arriving on 12th April btw - just instinct - that corresponds nicely with French dates!

LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 21:09

Frekkles - can you try and view your basement flat more like a womb or sanctuary where you can curl up and feel cosy and safe with your baby and your boy.

You've had a lot on lately. It's natural to be anxious! Once you have unpacked a bit and had a chance to nest, I'm sure you will feel better about the flat and your new beginnings. And remember you can't abandon Bangers (or was it Mash) the fish?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 21:10

Please help... i have been feeling really sore under the ribs for ages now (months)and just ignored it, for the best part of tonight i have been being sick (in my mouth, not loads just a bit sorry TMI thought it may be acid so have been downing gaviscon but its not helping) the pain round the right side of my ribs all the way round to my back is really bad and at the front just under and between my ribs sort of top of tummy feels like i have been cut from the inside, really painful like slicey stbby type pain, the baby keeps rubbing its foot along the area and it really hurts.

do i just take my morphine and go to bed and hope its better in the morning or is itt worth me phoning NHS direct??

LuLuBai · 02/03/2009 21:12

Yay - Boffin! You're here. And hurrah for posh make up. I got myself lovely fragranced body creams and face pampering treats the other day and felt a million times better for it.

fwiw I think this baby will come on the 9th. Just one day after due date. Time will tell but it will be interesting to see whether our instincts are right.

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 21:17

Puzzle - I'd love to do a live birth thread. Watch this space...
But ohgodohgodohgod - H&S once over? Does that mean cleaning all the Aspergillus off the window frames? Or just a whizz around with the hoover and move all the dangling computer wires out of the way?

Nutty - how awful, morphine already? I imagine if you phone NHS Direct they will advise you to head on into hosp/ birthcentre for check up, may as well call MW straightaway or hospital. Best not to wait until morning.

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 21:19

Maybe is just some really nasty reflux in need of something a bit stronger than Gaviscon. Is bump still sitting quite high?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 21:21

its just round from below bikini line all the way up to boobs

minush · 02/03/2009 21:24

LuLuBai - how irritating, WHY are (some) healthcare workers so dictatorial and dogmatic?
Good for you for being 'difficult', I'm psyching myself up to be VERY difficult if they try and give me a cesarean for no good reason. This does seem to happen quite a bit where I am, my hospital has a 30 percent cesarean rate, as this is my first, not sure if that actually is very high, but it seems it!

Hi frostyfreckles, I've just moved house too and I know what you mean about the packing and unpacking; Luckily, my hubby is a lunatic. We'd planned to move over a few days, I arrived home on Friday to find ALL our things had been thrown into bin liners and were being humped down stairs and into an ancient Peugot G5. I was pretty appalled at the time, and unsuprisingly, stuff did get lost/broken, but it was short and sharp. Unpacking is still going on, I refused to hulk anything heavy (and pregnancy has made me seriously re calibrate heavy) and you must ABSOLUTLEY not lift, move or carry ANYTHING that is remotely heavy or bulky.
Basement flats can be lovely and cosy, you can nest with your baby, and the weather should be fab in April, so you can go for lots of Spring walks. I'm really sorry you're having panic attacks though .Hope they go away!

PuzzleRocks · 02/03/2009 21:25

I see you have been discussing The Princess Bride. I loved the book but the movie had Cary Elwes. Lush. DH reminds me of a cross between Wesley, James Bond and Bruce Wayne.

I prefer Emma to P&P. Colin Firth would not have been unwelcome in my pre marital bed though.

Wiillam Blake / Puzzle fact: I used to work on the street where he was born. In a building, not as a prostitute like that sounded.

Electra - That must have been very stressful for you. Glad baby is just sleepy and nothing to worry about. Good luck for Friday.

Lulu - I haven't bought a double buggy. DD hates going in it now and insists on walking everywhere. Am I mad?

mathsmummy27 · 02/03/2009 21:27

Nutty I can't help much but I know how you feel, I have had really awful rib pain with this one, I think it's connected to the heartburn though. Try standing straight up with hands on wall?! all I can offer

So glad to see my little tutorial went down well! Lots of lovely soft cervices

mathsmummy27 · 02/03/2009 21:28

ooh and big welcome to newbies i think you'll fit right in...

minush · 02/03/2009 21:28

Smutty, you poor thing. I think you should phone NHS Direct. Hope it gets better soon.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 02/03/2009 21:30

Just sooo much gone on don't know where to start.

Home Birth - def. go with the Boff and suggest anyone even thinking it book it and if neccesary change it later on. And that's from someone who has previously planned two and ended up going in both times part way through labour......the ambulance ride can be a bit uncomfortable but you get to take your gas and air with you. Small thing but let your DP/DH know they aren't allowed to ride with you in the ambulance as only spare space it taken by your midwife !

See there was a bit of litary chat last thread - have to own up to loving To Kill a Mockingbird most ever, so much so my DS is named after what is, IMHO, one of the best male characters ever penned.

Oh yes, and someone was asking about painkillers for afterpains - seemed to loose it and couldn't see what the response was, can anyone sumarise ?? I didn't get much after DS but they were pretty bad after DD and I'm told get worse with each subsequent baby Only found this out a week or so ago and really hoping it's not true. After DD I had paracetamol, morphine, voltarol and I think something else as well but it was all getting a bit fuzzy but I that was more because of my csection and complications than for the afterpains.....I only noticed them because poor care ment I was left forever between shifts one night and everything wore off !!

BabyBolat · 02/03/2009 21:32

Smutts, can't hurt to give them a call and see what they say!

That is what you would tell us to do...

Frekkles, completely natural - sure all the boxes aren't helping, just take your time unpacking and move in gently - it will be great when you are all settled in and all cosied up with JOhn and LO!!

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 21:32

Nutty - from bikini line does not sound like reflux!

Think nice thoughts about Mr Darcy and get on the phone to a healthcare professional of some sort.

Juwesm · 02/03/2009 21:35

Kazkiss has been struggling with under-rib pain where one of her twinnies keeps shoving itself up there.

Swaliswan · 02/03/2009 21:40

Evening Ladies.

I'm still trying to catch up on today's posts. I had a good day today despite coming down with a cold. At least the cold is probably the reason that I keep on getting nasty headaches, extreme nausea and dizzy spells at a moment's notice. I did manage to have cream tea this afternoon followed by a Clarins mother-to-be treatment. It was so wonderful to have almost every inch of me massaged.

Does anyone have any good ideas for turning an OP baby? I keep sitting on my birthing ball, kneeling on all fours, not slouching or sitting on the sofa, sleeping on my side and going for walks. What else am I supposed to be doing? Why won't this baby get comfortable in a nice OA position? I'm having loads of BHs today which I know are supposed to help turn the baby but I'm fed up of them!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 21:40

ok waiting for nhs direct to call me back, thanks guys

Swaliswan · 02/03/2009 21:45

Nutty, I think that pain under your ribs on your RHS can be 'just' indigestion (although very severe indigestion pain) or it can be an indication of a couple of pregnancy complications. Definitely worth getting checked out.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/03/2009 21:45

Juw -lol my bump is from bikini line to boobs like a big beach ball, pain goes from half way from about an inch beneath boobs to about 2 inches above belly button
