And meant to say YAY to Carameli for floor going down. My kitchen floorboards should arrive on Thursday which is very exciting. Slightly freaked out by the idea of builders being in Carameli's house from May to November (and work still ongoing now presumably). Really hope my builders are long gone by the time baby comes. They are very nice men and everything but I want some privacy to wap my baps at the baby etc etc.

Oh and Juwesm I used real nappies for DD and if I ever find them again hope to use them for this baby. Not really a total earth mother though. Had a very serious disposable breast pad habit and am a wet-wipe-oholic (use them to polish furniture and all sorts of things).

My MW explained it at length and said it is up and back most of the time, then magically manoeuvres itself down and open during menstruation and ovulation, and more so for birth, when it also starts to change in texture. So if you can't feel it, it might be in up and back mode. Wonder what MM thinks?

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:14

LuLu, you're giving away your geographical location again, with 'wap my baps'

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:17

TMI! Thing is, I can kind of feel something. But not a doughnut. & my finger just simply isn't long enough to probe any further - especially with the bump in the way! I can feel something soft & squidgy, but it's more like someone sticking a fat tongue out of their mouth a little bit than a doughnut sitting up there.

Boffinmum

Thanks...midwife offered at 28 week appointment but I said no, now I am thinking it might be nice to attend a couple just to get to know a few people...might be too late though....they might be full up...

Springy

You are right about the sort of questions you can't asked at those classes! They are VERY textbook!

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:18

Magic cervix dust, and magic cervix/xes/ces? Truly birth is a miracle!

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:20

at Springy - see what 6 weeks in the west country does to a girl!

I haven't been to antenatal this time. Still in touch with all my antenatal friends (and foes) from last time and that's enough. Luckily have a handful of friends due to pop around the same time. Caught up with a school friend last week and v. excited that we have finally coincided babies. She's due 1 month after me and lives reasonably close so hopefully we can hang out together a bit more when we have newborns.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:21

What does my constant need to update FB/ Twitter etc with things like "have just had a sandwich" say about me as a person? I don't even care that no-one reads it cos everyone else is at work!

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:21

I feel left out - I haven't gone searching for my cervix. I haven't even ventured as far as my perineum yet.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:23

Don't worry Lulu - my cervix also remains umolested.

I don't think I'll be eating any Krispy Kreme for a while though

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:23

LuLu, I'm ignoring my perineum entirely at the moment. I'm greatly curious as to what's going on with my cervix, is all. It's the black sheep of the April cervical family, it seems.

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:24

That post should not have made me wanted Krispy Kreme. I am obviously becoming immune to the obscene

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:25

Perineum is receiving some attention, but it is not enjoying it.

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:25

That was really poor grammar. Whoops. Must pay more attention to what I'm typing!

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:25

custard-filled chocolate covered?

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:26

Really, really don't think about that too much.

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:26

I did do a braille tidy-up job on my bikini line at the weekend. And that was strenous enough. And then when I looked in the mirror it looked awful anyway.

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:27

Oh my word. I don't think I will ever be able to eat Krispy Kreme again.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:27

Quite pleased by the idea of a cervical family though. Big ones and small ones, with smiley faces (but mouths closed).

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:29

I've been told that women used to be routinely shaved prior to child birth. In view of braille bikini line, perhaps this is not such a bad idea? Though perhaps wax, not shave. Hypnowax.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 14:30

Right, enough, computer embargo.
No MN/ FB/ Tweeting or Hotmail until...3.30pm.

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:32

I could definitely do with a hypnowax at the moment. I'm still trying to shave, but it's just getting ridiculous. I've not given up on my legs yet, either - on the occasions I decide to tackle it I'm in the shower for about 12 days trying to manoeuvre myself

SpringySunshine · 03/03/2009 14:33

I'm going to have to be off, too - have a MW appointment at 3 & it's going to take me probably longer than I have to wander up there in the rain because of my tummy. It should only be a 5-10 minute walk, but there's no way I can do it in that time at the moment. At least by the time I get there I'll be practically birthing again so she can see the problem accurately

Back later xx

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:35

Oh yes - my mother was appalled when she went into hospital and they popped her in stirrups and shaved her.

Used to be routine.

Hypnowax would be great. Or perhaps if you are having an epidural you could have a brazilian done at the same time.

I actually did do my own bikini line when I was in labour with DD. My DH rather unhelpfully said he would be mortified if I went into hospital sporting a great big hairy beastie. Charming eh!

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:36

Oh rats - I sense I have been abandoned.

Suppose I better go and do the housework then.
