perineum talk...uurrghh ....

must say didn't go anywhere near it with first DS and was absolutely fine, so am not planning to go tinkering with it this time!!!!

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 14:45

I'm back from the midwife. All is well with me and baby. I have strict instructions on when to go into hospital though and been told to not hesitate.

As for my cervix, I can feel it but I am sure that it will get lower and more accessible IYSWIM. It seems to be getting shorter and a lot softer but I think that it has a little way to go yet (not that I've checked it today after last nights performance ). It does appear to be quite 'open' though. I thought that it would feel considerably more closed like it used to when we were TTC. I'm sure that I could get two fingers quite comfortably into it if I really wanted to start poking around. I'm a bit scared that I'll break my waters if I do that though!

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 14:52

Has everyone gone for an afternoon nap or are you all off checking your cervix?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 14:54

Hi SS - I'm here! Alternating between gmail and kiddicare, shopping for more stuff... I do love the internet...

want a cup of virtual tea?

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 14:56

Oooooooooo, a cup of tea. Now you're talking! I have a packet of minstrels here that we could share as well.

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 14:57

I'm just going to go and grab a cheese sandwich. Back in a mo...

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 14:58

Oh yawn - nap. Could do with one of those. I am still here although mumsnet keeps crashing on me, so I've been busy scouring the internet for kitchen worksurfaces instead.

Kitty - Kiddicare sounds more fun than builder's merchants. What are you buying? I think I need another bouncy seat. Also a changing mat.

Schulte · 03/03/2009 14:59

Just making a cup of real tea I have been in the attic and got all the baby stuff down. Can't believe how much there is! First load is in the washing machine now - mainly muslins really hope this one is not a sicky baby.

I also found some of those horrible paper pants - never used them first time round so hopefully I can resist the urge this time too

Must be time to watch a DVD now! Oh isn't maternity leave lovely... [skips away singing and whistling]

Sorry for double post, I didn't click twice, I swear!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:07

Lulu - i got one of these and one of these and one of these

I love the internet!!!

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 15:08

I need to order DD a new carseat from Kiddicare. I was supposed to be sorting out all of the baby stuff today but instead have been resting. I really should wash up the breakfast things in a minute though

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:09

Can't believe how expensive some of those bouncy seats were... £100??? hectic!!

PuzzleRocks · 03/03/2009 15:11

Juwesm - That's interesting. Were your friends offered the c.sections on the NHS? I was 6stone 13lbs before getting pregnant with DD who was predicted to very large (was actually 8lb 8.5ozs) and no one suggested any such thing to me. Not that I would have wanted a section.

BB - I agree there is no point deciding now, you never know what is round the corner. I do feel a sense of urgency though because i'm 32 this year and wouldn't like to make assumptions about my fertility in years to come.

Surprise - Just 10lbs , i've put on 36lbs so far

Carameli - Good to hear from you. Will you be joining our buddy system?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:11

I'm also watching a BPIAB on ebay...

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 15:11

Ooooooooooh Kitty - your bouncy chair is perfect. And change out of a tenner too.

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 15:12

I have to say that IMHO it is worth paying about £20-£25 for a bouncy seat with vibrations. Sometimes it was the only place that DD would calm down and go to sleep. She was a very sicky, colicky baby though.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:14

Yeah Lulu it is cheap & cheerful and won't take up much space - I hope!!! I'm really looking forward to getting that rug too, it will be fab for lining the pram / playing on the floor, general snuggling... Yay!

Oh and I bought some more muslins as well - apparently you can never have too many of those...

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:16

Swaliswan - that sounds horrible, poor you!
can I have a bite of your cheese sandwich please?

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 15:22

Grrr - Kiddicare crashed on me. I blame the laptop.

Puzzle - that is teeny weeny. How tall are you?

re. number 3 I think it's worth waiting to see how you get on with 2. I quite like the idea of 3 too (like you I've always pictured girl, girl, boy for no particular reason). Several of my friends are in-production with number 3 at the moment which is making me extra broody. But I keep reminding myself I have lots of time (and I'm older - 34). Two may actually feel like plenty, but if I really , really want another then why shouldn't 3 kids share a room? You used to get huge families of 13 or whatever sharing tiny 2 bed terraces.

LuLuBai · 03/03/2009 15:23

Yup Kitty - muslins are invaluable for so many things.

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 15:27

Yes, KittyCat, you can have some cheese sandwich.

Anyone want some minstrels?

Baby has hiccups. I think that minstrels will help ease them

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:28

I can't imagine 13 people sharing a 2 bed terrace... it's bad enough being in a 1 bed FLAT with a newborn - never mind extended family as well!!!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 15:29

MMM Minstrels are a good idea too... i think I'd better go to the shops a bit later - we have NOTHING exciting in our house to eat at all!!

Swaliswan · 03/03/2009 15:31

Minstrels are on offer in Sainsburys atm
