Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pinkfizzle · 22/03/2009 11:43

Hi Lemontop, I have just caught this thread. I am due with my first in Nov and like you I fall asleep really early.

It is truly impressive that you have actually done housework. So I think you should try put your feet up - for as long as you can manage. I am incapable of lifting a finger, luckily my DH has been very supportive. I have not made my bed for 4 weeks, pretty pathetic is my effort.

I lie like a vegetable and try save my energy for when I have to go to work in the week, and feel I am acquiring the skills of a hollywood oscar award wiinning actress when I go to work. Except ofcourse I am not looking anywhere near an A-lister, everything is going from the lips to the hips at an astounding rate.

I have been in nausea overload all weekend and like you I want to know when I am supposed to glow.

I am basically in bed every night by 8pm and have bouts of insomnia but it is good to know that it is not uncommon.

Ginger beer and peppermint tea seem to be my only saviours.

pavlovthecat · 22/03/2009 12:10

lol, i glowed for one month at around 32 weeks with DD, that is a long way off.

Munchies37 · 22/03/2009 12:30

Hey cupcake - sorry your news wasn't more positive for you, but a faint heartbeat is better than none and hopefully it will get stronger day by day. I'm going to keep absolutely everything crossed that when you go back on Thursday the heartbeat is much stronger. Sending hugs. X

katster37 · 22/03/2009 14:02

Happy Mother's Day all! I am desperately hoping to be a mother by next Mother's Day...
Just had a really long walk and felt awful towards the end. Had horrible cramping feeling, and really scared myself. It's gone off now we're back but think I will take it easy for the rest of the day. Is it normal to not be able to do much walking/exercise? We had walked for about 2 hours, but the cramps were really scary. I have had similar things since day 1 and have read they are normal, but still, I would rather they go away!

hobnob57 · 22/03/2009 15:07

LOL about the raunchy dreams. I had a rather nice one last night about Brian O'Driscoll

katster if you're anything like me then any kind of exertion requires much sofa-lying as payback. Since I finished work on Thursday afternoon, I've barely been awake. I fell asleep at 8pm, dragged myself to bed and dragged myself out again when DD could stand being ignored no longer on Friday morning. I've just felt like I can't manage more than 2 hours without being horizontal since!

The MS has really kicked in this weekend too. I couldn't look at my dinner last night, which is just what happened with DD for 3 months until 18 weeks. I lost loads of weight, but the constant starving nausea was horrendous. I'm wallowing in self-pity today. Need to go to Tescos and stock up on nibbles to last me the week ahead.

pootle I would try not to worry about not having ms. I know it varies loads between different women, and some (lucky ones) have none after suffering with #1. However, with my mmc, I didn't have ms as badly which confirmed with me that there was maybe something wrong (I'd just had a feeling about it from the bfp). Fingers crossed for you anyway.

hobnob57 · 22/03/2009 15:11

oh, and about sex before 12 weeks - I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think it's just a precaution with no real basis.

It can cause cervical erosion which results in bleeding which can cause unnecessary alarm and panic.

And semen are known to produce hormones which relax the cervix. But at

weston · 22/03/2009 16:19

last pregnancy i had no sickeness at all (had sore boobs and was tired) and had a perfectly healthy (high maintenance..)baby girl so don't worry at all if you don't feel sick! i feel rougher this time but more a general feeling of bleugh...must be a boy...

mrsdisorganised · 22/03/2009 16:25

Well I have 4 girls, was very very sick with dd1, not as much but was still every day with dd2 and dd3...very little with dd4 and was absolutely convinced she was a boy even though dh said otherwise this time I am constantly feeling sick and being sick every single morning and have no idea if it's a girl or boy!!! That was long winded!

We're extending the house atm and I'm also having to get used to living on a bombsite! The joys
Hope everyone else is feeling ok.....

katster37 · 22/03/2009 16:47

mrsdisorganised, your family sounds amazing - I am jealous!
Hmm, am getting Sunday evening dread - even though it has been a gorgeous day!
Please can you ladies come on and tell me you sometimes get crampy feelings in the bottom of your stomach?? I am stressing myself out. It's really mild but was worse after big walk this afternoon and am paranoid about going to the loo!

pavlovthecat · 22/03/2009 17:09

Katster - I get cramping. Sometimes vague dull pain, sometimes more intense, also have a little lower back pain. I do believe it is normal, I am pretty sure I had this with DD too. As long as it is not accompanied by heavy bleeding, pain on one side only/shoulder tip pain. But if you are worried, maybe you could pop along to your EPU for checkup? I am sure it is fine.

katster37 · 22/03/2009 17:12

Thanks Pav. I really hate it! It's so frustrating having all these things going on inside and not really knowing what they all mean / whether it's going right or not. I have booked an early scan which is 2 weeks on Tuesday so I think I will try to hold out 'til then, otherwise I might pop to St Thomas's EPU later this week if not. Has anyone been there BTW? I bet the queue is manic, although they are open 24 hours, so maybe not too bad.

BeckyBendyLegs · 22/03/2009 17:40

Pootle I didn't have any sickness with DS1 and he came out nearly 10lbs of healthy baby boy! So please try not to worry about not feeling sick. It sounds like you have other symptoms. I get quite annoyed by books and magazines that say 'morning sickness is a good sign' because people then assume the opposite: no morning sickness is a bad sign. I had an MC in May and I felt much more sick then with either of my healthy pregnancies. There is no rhyme or reason sometimes. I don't feel very sick yet with this pregnancy but feel really fluey a lot of the time.

Katster I have had cramps too, on and off. It is so stressful being pregnant and not knowing what all the twinges are. I hope your early scan is reassuring for you.

These first few weeks are so hard though, aren't they? Where was that crystal ball again? We told my PILs today and they got all excited, talking about pushchairs and cots and they were so happy and I just thought 'but it might all go wrong again!'

helips · 22/03/2009 18:47

Hi everyone, hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine!

Katster, I used to get those crampy feelings when pregnant with ds. It surprised me as I was really fit before getting pregnant but then found just walking round the shops was enough to bring on those crampy feelings. Am afraid it will only get worse as your pregnancy progresses At one point I rang the midwife in tears as I could hardly walk and she suggested a long soak in the bath and some paracetamol (and to take it easy!) This time round hasn't been too bad, although I went to the gym last week and think I over did it as I got those pains again. Anyway, take it easy, lie on the sofa and chill out!

I've had a lovely mothers day today, I got a lie-in then went downstairs and got a lovely card and bracelet then later on some flowers and chocolates were delivered! I have eaten for England this weekend, I seem to have a craving for fish and chips and have had them twice this weekend! God I am going to be the size of a house aren't I

Dh is cooking dinner again tonight, beef pie, yum! I am obsessed with food!!!!

pinkfizzle · 22/03/2009 19:09

Helips - I am totally obsessed with food - and think about it 24/7. Like Mrs disorganised I think I might have to extend my house, although the reason for the extension would be just to fit me in and my extra heavy cargo in it!

Katser I too get cramps off and on, I don't think that is unusual but if they are constant or unbearable then it is something that you could bring up next visit, but I would not worry. I figure it is due to the body changing. I think Pavlov's note was spot on.

pavlovthecat · 22/03/2009 19:14

Me too! I am obsessed with a) when I am next going to eat and b) when I am next going to sleep.

In particular, curry is on my mind, spicey (or spikey as DD calls it) and with potatoes in.

Joycey29 · 22/03/2009 19:53

I've eaten for my country today! I have been a work so had to take school children for lunch and tea - both of which i consumed in vast quantities. I also took them out for an ice cream and so had one of them and we entertained parents with nibbles and i scoffed loads of them. Now home and dh offered supper and I chastely said no! Just chocolates!
It's my only current sympton so I am milking it!

pavlovthecat · 22/03/2009 19:56

Joycey _ read that as you had a school child to eat!!!

Joycey29 · 22/03/2009 19:58

Today - that would have been a possibility!!!

helips · 22/03/2009 19:59

lol pinkfizzle! I am currently awaiting my beef pie but think it's going to be another 20 mins and I am flippin starving! Have opened my mothers day chocolates to keep me going until it is ready

Pavlov, sleep is my second favourite thing at the moment (after food of course) and today I had a lie-in, an afternoon nap and I plan to be in bed by 9.30pm the latest, bliss!

lemontop · 22/03/2009 20:00

I've had a really stressful day. I've also had the worst nausea and been feeling faint all day. We told my DP's mum we were expecting, which went down very well. Almost straight after telling them I had quite painful cramps and some brown discharge when I went to the loo (sorry tmi) and had to sit through mother's day lunch being all smiley and happy when I was panicking big time. I'm really worried that something could be wrong. I had a teeny tiny bit last Sunday but it stopped so I didn't think anything of it (even convinced myself I'd imagined it).

I'm not sure what next plan of action should be. I rang St Thomas' who told me this is quite common but should be checked out. They don't do scans on a Sunday. I don't know whether to go down there as early as possible tomorrow when it's likely to be very very busy or see if I can get an emergency appointment with my GP. I haven't met my midwife yet but am down to have my 12 week scan at the Mayday in Croydon. They have an EPU clinic but I don't know if you can self refer there. I'm 7+3 and keeping everything crossed.

helips · 22/03/2009 20:01

lol at eating school children

helips · 22/03/2009 20:05

Lemontop, can you give the EPU clinic a ring first thing tomorrow and hopefully they can advise you? Hope everything is ok, think brown discharge is ok its bright red that you have to worry about so fingers crossed for you.

pavlovthecat · 22/03/2009 20:06

Lemon - I had brown/red spotting at 6 weeks and also again at 7 weeks. They followed some quite heavy cramping.

I had scans both times at EPU who were great (first time I self refered as GP told me it was MC and nothing I could do and I did not beleive him). Both times I was amazed and pleased to find a strong healthy bean there. She is currently fighting going to sleep!

Joycey29 · 22/03/2009 20:06

Hi Lemontops - i had that with dd and went for two early scans which was reassuring but only once I was 7 weeks. They got my dates wrong to start and so my first scan was worrrying but they said unless it's blood and as long as you are feeling sick you should be fine!
