Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

I think you should call in sick again mickeylou, we can slob out on the sofa together I need to get to bed but I know I will lie there and feel worse! Can't see me going into work at this rate, the thought of it makes me feel even worse. At least tomo DS is in nursery so I can lie about and feel sorry for myself. DH has the cold too and DS had the worst of his last week (still has a snotty nose) so we are a poorly house!

QueenFee · 07/04/2009 22:00

lydia I am also on facebook most nights.

Had lovely experience last night as baby stuck out a tiny part of its body I could feel it really clearly I think it was a heel. Played a little game with it for a while. Felt all mushy

Roll on schools reopening. Went upstairs to find DS and DD (by DDs admission) had drawn with wax crayon ALL OVER DSs bedroom wall For future reference WD40 and hard work gets it off. AHH!

27 weeks today still feeling quite good but getting more tired. Keep falling asleep in afternoons on sofa and am sound (perhaps why the kids managed to get up to sooo much mischief )

I have had different midwives with every pregnancy and almost every visit. But as they only see you a couple of times in your third preg this is perhaps to be expected. I do however know the MW quite well through the breastfeeding work I do which helps. They work for 3 diff hosps in this area and apparently every hosp has different rules about checking the heartbeat.

Phoenix · 08/04/2009 08:29

Ooo I'm always on Facebook too, will email you Lydia

I'm not sleping that good at the moment either so sympathies to everyone else who isn't. I'm getting up for the toilet every 2 hours and our bathroom is on the ground floor so i have to trek all the way downstairs.

Misspaella · 08/04/2009 08:45

Hey everyone, how are you all coping? The Easter break is so far ok but I am getting tired of trying to keep DS and DD occupied! All I want to do is loaf about.......gone are those days I guess.

DS also had a lovely tummy bug last Th to Fr. I spent literally hours cleaning sick off floors, sofa, beds etc and doing bundles of laundry of vomit soaked items. Being a mother is just full of glamour at times.

Jenny when I went back to work after having DS I put my name on the waiting list for 2 nurseries after my first scan (so only 12 weeks pg). Believe it or not, he only got a place at 1 of them when I had to go back to work. I do live in an area where there are lots of young families so that had an impact on available places.

My asthma is getting bad again which is a pain and feel large and out of breath. Doesn't make for an attractive woman.

Midwives - I have never seen the same one twice in my 3 pg's. I have heard having a homebirth is the best way to have consistent care as you usually have the same midwife throughout your pg. I guess that will be the way forward in future.

Just found out we are having to attend a big family do 9 Aug (a whole month after giving birth!) and I am put out by it. The drive will be over an hour each way and with a 4 yr old, 2 yr old and newborn I can't think of anything worse. I can't exactly feed baby and nip for a nap easily. And I will have the post partum jelly belly to contend with. Wonder if it would look really bad if DH just went with DS and DD?

Anyyway, I am just having a hormonal moan....

Gillyan · 08/04/2009 11:00

lydia I'm on FB - look me up [email protected]

I'm off for a bath now. I really need to start getting the house organised as decorating the big room for DD this weekend, just have NO motivation whatsover to do anything. Lets see if a nice hot bath does the trick!

Phoenix · 08/04/2009 11:42

Can i add you Gillyan? at warm bath, i'm just going to work

My email address is [email protected] if anyone wants to add me.

Gillyan · 08/04/2009 12:55

Of course Phoenix

Cheekycel · 08/04/2009 13:01

hey hey hey!

same here with trouble sleeping so knackered as each time i want to turn i have to wake up and actually turn myself over!

im on FB as well, [email protected], DH works nights so home alone most of the time.

xxhunnyxx · 08/04/2009 13:32

I'm on FB too, if anybody wants to add me my email is [email protected]

I'm majorly pissed off with work today, my manager is a cow and I just can't be arsed with all the office politics that go on, I feel like telling her to f* off! I would put it down to my hormones but my colleagues feel the same.

I'm also having trouble sleeping, well I'm sleeping fine but I keep waking up and need to re-position myself/ bump pillows.

BonzoDoodah · 08/04/2009 13:57

Hey all - back from a week in Tenerife. What a lovely chilled time we had - lots of sun and sand and ... warmth! DD (20 months) had a wonderful time playing on the sand and we're all super-chilled now.

Hope everyone is well.

patchyblob sorry you're feeling bad about the new baby and it emphasising the loss of your little one. I don't think people realise how hard it is to miscarry. My sister lost a baby at 17 weeks and I have to admit I didn't realise at the time how traumatic it was for her. Have a hug from me and have a cry all over again for your loss.

Mij · 08/04/2009 14:17

PatchyBob, that sounds rough. I don't think we have any protocols in our culture for dealing with the feelings of those who've lost babies - no-one knows how to deal with it and seems to think that it's just something medical to get over. When I thought I was having an early MC, the medical staff I talked to were incredibly brusque. I was quite shocked. I was lucky and it didn't happen, so I can't imagine how you're feeling.

Am mightily pissed off with an ebay seller. Bought a ready bed - supposedly toddler size - turns up and it's two sizes larger, different manufacturer, different colours, and different construction. To me that means it's 'significantly different' to the listing and the photograph (which was a pack shot) and therefore I can get a refund. She said she 'phoned ebay and they said the listing was fine'. How can you phone ebay? And how would they know it was fine without seeing what I've actually received? Grrrr. And we wanted it for our hols - going on Monday. Definitely not letting it drop - will go for a refund through paypal if I have to. DD very disappointed.

Feeling the need to talk to a MW - doing a lot of knicker checking today, have some strange brown things going on... sorry if TMI!

With last PG I was on a 1-2-1 scheme, so had one midwife, but also met the other two on the team just in case. Twas brill. This time, the practice has had to ditch the scheme cos their case load is massive, and have seen someone different each time. And I'm booked in for a home birth. Oh well - they've all been fine, anyway.

Patchybob · 08/04/2009 14:21

Thanks everyone for being so kind. Feel a bit better about it all today as had a good night sleep for a change. Think when you are tired it all just seems too much sometimes.

Great about facebook, I am on there quite a bit. Can I add you guys? My email is [email protected]. Weird that we will all find out each others real names etc!

Patchybob · 08/04/2009 14:38

Mij just saw your post...what do you mean strange brown things? Have you spoken to your midwife? Hope you ok.

Finally got my support belt today and have been wearing it for about an hour. Think its quite good, early days though. Have been in so much pain, walked my dc to the park today and every step hurt. Hope the belt works.

Gllyan just tried to look you up on facebook and couldn't find you under that email address? Feel free to add me, address above

Off to take DC to the hairdresser. DS looks like he needs to see a sheep shearer rather than a hairdresser! Must do a quick nit check before we go!!!

Mij · 08/04/2009 16:34

PatchyBob - looks a bit like the very end of a period, sorry if TMI. Has got me a bit rattled. Left a message with the midwife but her phone's still turned off, and all the other MWs numbers are at home, in my ante-natal folder. Must put them in my notebook! Not panicking yet, but still freaking me out a bit.

xxhunnyxx · 08/04/2009 16:38

mij it could be a bit of an infection maybe? probably nothing to worry about but defo speak to somebody. Do you not have a number for the MW unit at your local hospital?

Does anybody know of any good parenting books they can recommend? Looking at something like The Contended Baby Book or similar. Basically I want to be very close to my baby but without him being clingy or wingey...I know not all the answers can be found in a book but thought it might be a good start.

Patchybob · 08/04/2009 18:09

Mij I would phone the hospital, mine has a unit you can phone, day assessment unit they call it I think. Just to put your mind at rest. Am sure its nothing to worry about but worth checking out.

Hair cuts were good, she did mine at the same time so I feel very glamerous! (For a night in with chocolate and tv!)

EvieBear · 08/04/2009 18:13

Jenny79 i'm over the bridge from you in Putney - are you doing antenatal classes? I joined some NCT ones that start on 28th April in Fulham I'm sure... I have joined your group on facebook too and see that you planned a meeting for 25th April- unfortunately I will be away then, but make sure to post if you are planning any other meetings esp nearer the time once baby is born!!

lydiathetattooedlady · 08/04/2009 18:30
