Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

Evenin all! Hope you are all having a good weekend. I have eaten so much rubbish all day, feeling guilty for babba, but I think he wants some All Gold now to round the day off

Queenfee I don't know what your shakes could be? Maybe get checked out by your dr / midwife?

Anyone else feeling ultra tired? I keep feeling exhausted like I've been up for 5 days solid or something. Today I feel a little better because DS didn't wake up til 920am (usually he is up about 7am but he has the cold just now) and I had a nap this afternoon when DS napped. I'm wondering if I might be aneamic though, I had this last pregnancy so I'll need to get that checked out- seeing the midwife this Thursday.

Lost money on the Grand National today, booooo. DH and I were convinced we were going to win!

ilikeyoursleeves · 04/04/2009 21:08

PS Forgot to say, I ended up selling my Quinny Buzz on Ebay for £230! Not bad, didn't think we'd get over £200 so can't complain.

Mij · 06/04/2009 13:09

ruby the kari-me can be used for a back-carry but I would suggest a woven wrap for that instead. And if you only want the one wrap, I'd go for a woven one from the beginning and get a bit of help with it at the beginning from someone at a slingmeet, or check out lots of videos on youtube.

In the instructions, the kari-me shows someone helping a toddler into a pre-tied back-carry, so if you followed those directions then yes, you'd need help. However, there's no reason why you couldn't use a different tie that can be done on your own (after a bit of practice at home, on your knees, on your bed, with a mirror to hand!) I only needed a couple of goes to perfect the 'rucksack' back carry, and could very happily do it anywhere - park, supermarket, even on a bus once. Freaked out several old ladies, convinced I was going to drop DD!

Alternatively - have you looked at the Ergo, or another structured mei tai type one? They all do front, side and back-carries with no assistance, and could mean you never need a larger backpack. Just a thought.

bumpmolesting can you tell I'm getting even more hacked off?! Yet another few days of unwanted invasion of my personal bloody space! Someone at my dance class, whose name I don't even know, gave the bump a pat. I'm seriously considering one of those t-shirts, although I feel a little elderly for slogans...

Feeling stupidly irritated at all the prep that's involved in going on holiday. If only they'd managed to find a way to teleport...

Hi all,

Totally stressed today, hardly sleeping at all and when I do drop off DD wakes with tooth pain as she is cutting her molars.
Was supposed to have gas man come today after I waited in for 6 hours last time and he didn't show...guess what....yup he didn't turn up again! Have waited in for a total of 10 1/2 hours for him now - mightily peed off with that.

Also am now committee secretary for DD's nursery, also contact point for OFSTED. They rang this afternoon asking if they could meet with me and the 2 managers on Weds - talk about short notice!! It's not an inspection but going over things to make sure the committee are capable of ensuring the correct managment of the setting. It all falls to me to sort this as the head of the committee is out on Weds (well it is the Easter hols and all!!).

So all in all running round like a mad woman, feeling v emotional for some reason and bump all uncomfortable think it's stretching.

Sorry for the long post, I just needed to get it all down and off my chest (ha! some hope of that!)

Hugs xxx

BrumOne · 06/04/2009 19:21

Hi all,

Ive been to see the midwife again today - once again was a disaster - as i have not seen the same one twice - and this one was from out of area so wasnt able to give me any info - so i'm a lil annoyed - just want some consistency!!

I did manage to get to hear the heart beat for the FIRST time today - but am now worried as the MW seemed to think it sounded a little abnormal, and was on the brink of sendin me to the hosp, but then after listenin for quite a while, decided she was happy and it could jus be movement or hiccups - i'm worried now though - considerin goin to GP for a second opinion

xxhunnyxx · 06/04/2009 19:50

Hi ladies, hope everybody had a nice weekend.

mij I think we're at the point where everything pisses us off! I'm pissed off that I'm gettin so big, my back is killing me, I have permanent indigestion and I've still got another 3 months of this . And worst of all I'm running out of things to buy so can't even relieve my frustration with retail therapy!

brumone that's terrible that you've not seen the same MW twice! There's 2 MW's that I see and they both know me reasonably well by now. Also I'm sure they're supposed to listen to baby's heartbeat on every visit.

Anybody started ante natal classes yet? We start ours next week but not really sure what to expect. My ex is coming to them too so hopefully it will make it all hit home a bit and it might make him buck his ideas up a bit!
Me n ex are going away this weekend, we had it booked before we split up but we said we'd still go as friends. Not really sure what to make of it all tho cos he's bein really nice to me at the mo so not sure if he's just tryin to show me some respect (as I asked) or if we're gonna end up gettin back together. I've really started to miss him over the last few days so don't know whether I'll be able to be strong enough to resist gettin back with him. These sodding hormones aren't really helping much either! I suppose it's part of pregnancy to make us want to keep hold of our baby's daddy. Also don't wanna go away this weekend with the expectation that something will happen only to be disappointed. He was very certain that he didn't want to be with me a week ago so I can't really see that he's going to have changed his mind in the space of a week! hmmm I suppose I'll just have to see what happens.

BrumOne · 06/04/2009 20:12

thanks xxhunnyxx - i thought you got to listen to the heart everytime too - but it seems not!!

hmm i would be careful with the ex - dont get ya hopes up too much - i keep goin through the same thing - spend some lovely time together and get the feelin that its goin somewhere - but then nothin changed in his head - just puts you back to the beginning again!!!

the midwife today seems to think they they jus do a one full day ante natal class so i gotta look into it - fancy the aqua natal though if i can find somewhere local!!!

JLo2 · 06/04/2009 20:54

Hi all

Just wanted to ask advice to see what others think..

I've got a growth scan on Wednesday (long story, won't bore you ) and it's the school holidays. Have tried to organise childcare for my 3DS's but everyone has gone away/busy. My DH won't be there as it's his last day at work (he's redundant as of Thursday). How do you think the hospital will react if I turn up with my DS's (who are very well behaved and will be under very strict instruction/bribery)? Or do you think I should cancel?

BrumOne · 06/04/2009 21:04

JLo2 I think you will be fine to take them along - i shouldnt imagine it will take long, so its not as if they will be in the way!! Maybe a while to get another appointment if you cancel!!!

EvieBear · 07/04/2009 10:35

hey all

i have only met my midwife once since i found out i was pregnant, have had two scans at 12 and 20 weeks and then everything else has been with gp (any scares or check-ups) and I am 27 weeks - expected I wuold see midwife more but apparently not! will see her now every 4 weeks from thursday...

i am starting to get really anxious about becoming a mum!! i can't believe there isn't that much time left!!! it is exciting, don't get me wrong but it's such a huge change to our lives! it's so hard to imagine how it will be when LO is here i'm also starting to think about labour and how scary that will be too...!

i only have 3 baby gros bought so far and my friend told me i really need to get out while i'm not uncomfortable and get the other bits bought as i will be so tired come 30+ weeks so will head out this weekend and get some more things together. still have to choose a pram too, i love one but dp says it's too heavy for me but i think it's fine. i just really want a carrycot at the beginning so I'm going to go with it, here it is my favourite!

anyway that's all my news... oh yeah banged my bump quite hard on sun night off an open cupboard door that's quite pointy, a shooting pain went up my left side so i went to gp yesterday to check heartbeat and blood pressure and all was fine, phew.

ok better get on!!!!!!

EvieBear · 07/04/2009 10:38

don't think my link above worked -

Cheekycel · 07/04/2009 11:00

Oh Eviebear i agree its just all gone so fast! I cant believe that at the end of this week I will have hit the third trimester Im really excited, but apprehensive bout the birth and whether i'll be able to cope etc.

I have also only seen the midwife once, and have next appointment booked in 2 weeks. Have had 2 scans and have seen GP about thrice I think.

Havent started ante-natal classes yet, checked last night and apparently ours start from 30 weeks, is that a bit late?

Anyway, have a fabulous day ladies xx

EvieBear · 07/04/2009 13:52

oh good cheekycel -i think we're the only ones feeling apprehensive - eek!!!

i start my antenatal classes on 28th april so i will be 30 weeks then too, i think that is fine as the teacher told me i was still within the limit to join that class.

Lillabet · 07/04/2009 14:09

Cheekycel and EvieBear - you are definitely NOT the only ones feeling apprehensive. Just trying to enjoy the pregnancy as much as possible at the moment as I have found it fairly stressful up until recently. Having everyone tell me I look blooming (and feeling it these days) definitely helps .

Had MW appointment yesterday - all good, growing well, head down, heart rate good and kicking like a mule!!
Got my MatB1 and HIP grant application yesterday - woohoo. No more grief from work and a bit of extra money.

BrumOne I haven't seen the same MW twice either! I would prefer some consistency but as they have all been lovely on the whole I am not too bothered - although the one who gave me all the foetal alcohol syndrome stuff after I admitted I had 3 sips of wine was bit OTT!

My antenatal classes (all 4 of 'em) don't start until 3rd June when I will be 34 weeks!! I thought they were a bit late to be honest and was somewhat to find there were only 4, but not too fussed. The DH is wondering who I am and where his wife is - I am usually worst case scenario girl and if something can go wrong I will think of the worst case scenario!! At the moment, I am so laid back I am horizontal (wishful thinking!! ).

Once again a long post - sorry!

Gillyan · 07/04/2009 16:52

Hi guys, hope you're all doing okay.

Looking forward to seeing the consultant this Thursday and hopefully will know for definate if I am going to have a planned section.

We're decorating the big spare room to move DD into this weekend and then her old room will be the nursery! So excited as her room is going to look so grown up, hope she likes it and doesn't protest too much at having to move rooms! We'll see.

I finally found some bras to fit EVANS ( amazing place ) I went into Manchester on Friday after having a total emotional breakdown over having no clothes that fit me. Spent £200 and got a few bits but the best was a dress for my friends wedding in May - I'm now not dreading going and managed to find a maxi dress that is high enought to cover my enormous norks and long enough to cover my water filled legs! perfect - it wasn't a maternity one but just one I found in EVANS. The staff were really helpful and found me a bra to go with it. It was the wrong cup size but they wrote down the product details and I ordered them offline and they came today. Really cheap too. I got a 2 x pack for £16 and another support one for £16.

The FIGLEAVES one's I ordered came and were gross and didn't fit and they only did nursing bras in my size??? Thank god for Evans!

Little one is so active now and she's started waking me up at night lots. I'm not sleeping well and don't expect it to get better. I keep waking up 3 or 4 times a night for a wee and just being uncomfortable...not long to go now though. I'm going to have to sleep with Dp again once DD is in her new room (where I've been sleeping) - he might get turfed out to the nursery room (there will be a single bed in there, I'm not too cruel )

I'm strating to get drained really quickly and everything seems such an effort, I really wish I had got round to loosing some weight before getting PG again as I'm sure it's not helping. Been thinking lots about loosing some after the baby is born...

Patchybob · 07/04/2009 17:33

Hello everyone, Well I had a great start to the morning when I dropped my mobile down the loo (it was in my pocket and fell out when I pulled my trousers up!) To make matters worse DS hadn't flushed so there were 2 wees in there! I rinsed it and left it for the day to dry out and wey hey it works again!! How fantastic!

Gillyan I am with you on the not sleeping front, havn't had a decent night in ages. last night DD woke me with a pretend bad dream ie just wanted to get into bed with me and I was awake from 2.25 - after 5.30.I am like a zombie. DH away until saturday pm so its a while before I can indulge in a lie in.

My DH cousin had a baby girl today (none of us were quite sure when it was due as she wouldn't tell anyone for her "emotional wellbeing" ..........WTF? Anyway, I feel so strange about it as I would have been due in 5 days with the baby I lost. She has asked us to be godparents (quite why because we never see her and aren't close at all) but I am finding it hard. Because I am pregant again everyone seems to have forgotten the little lost one who was also part of our futures. Am I mad and really selfish?

lucasnorth · 07/04/2009 18:06

bonzodoodah thanks for the info on bump bands (sorry, it was weeks ago, but I've not been a very frequent visitor to the thread!) Will try and get some ASAP.

Not much news from me - just tired and hormonal! Sorry to hear so many are having a hard time.

Jenny79 · 07/04/2009 18:27
  1. My ribs started hurting today, all morning - is this normal? Have my GTT on Thursday, wonder if I'm allowed to ask questions during it...
  1. Anyone on Facebook and based in West London welcome to join group 'Summer 09 - West London Babies' - we're planning a meeting at the end of April in Fulham.

Going to sleep now. I know it's only 18.26pm but am tired !!!

Jenny79 · 07/04/2009 18:40

Oh and before I forget - when should I start panicking about nurseries?

Should I be visiting them now, before I give birth and then register the baby for a place as soon as he's born?

If all goes well I'll be off work only until beginning of Jan 10, I then need to go back and baby needs to be handed over to the professionals since dear mother lives in Greece ...

thanks

ps. miss DH who's traveling until Thursday, home alone, me and the 6 mini Magnums from Algida... er... 5 mini Magnums.

Gillyan · 07/04/2009 19:15

patchy aww hope you're okay.

I dropped my brand new phone down the loo last year and had to pay £160 to get a new one, I was so peed off ( pardon the pun)

jenny I had DD's name down for the nursery when I was 7 months pregnant as some places do have a waiting list. Rib pain - from about 26 weeks your ribs start to seperate to make room for expanding uterus. I had my first bout of rib kicking the other night. From about 33wks last time I had so sit with my arm up over my head as DD was right under my ribs and it hurt, it eased when she dropped a bit though. Mmmmm mini magnums, now theres an idea....

Jenny79 · 07/04/2009 19:20

thanks Gillyan, sounds like I need to start looking at my local nurseries soon... and just get used to the rib pain (ouch!)

Mini Magnums are divine, 6 in the pack, 2x classic, 2x white, 2x almond..
Am I evil or what?? Bet everyone will scream for some ice cream now !!

Patchybob · 07/04/2009 19:53

Yes...I'm screaming here, just what I fancy!

lydiathetattooedlady · 07/04/2009 20:58

evening all! my morning sickness seems to be back with a vengeance although im now starving and in the process of making a cheesey chip butty yum yum!
patchybob sorry you're having a pooh time, i know its not the same but my friends seem to have forgotten my dear little brother died only 6 months ago and can be quite insensitive!
gillyan i was thinking the same thing today how i wish i could have lost more of my first pregnancy weight, especially when my size 8 blonde bombshell sister came to visit me, whilst i looked very green in the face, fat and greasey haired!
i have also succombed to an ice cream craving and managed to wolf down 3 strawberry cornettos on sunday and two mint ones yesterday. none today yet but i will need afters when ive finished my chip butty!
im not in the fulham area but was wondering if anyone else was on facebook as my dp works nights most of the time (like tonight!) and im usually on there chatting to someone-although i know we're supposed to have an air of mystery about us with this anonymity thing on here, but lemmie know!

ilikeyoursleeves · 07/04/2009 21:00

Hi all, I'm feeling like crap- woke up in the middle of the night last night totally loaded with the cold I was at work today but feel like bleurgh and ended up with a headache. I have a totally full diary tomorrow but think at this rate I will need to call in sick cos I can barely think straight tonight never mind do a professional job tomorrow! I'm also feeling quite breathless with size of bump, not being able to breathe through my nose isn't helping either. Would I be bad if I phoned in sick???? Oh and I've been feeling pelvic twinges all night too, like the baby keeps kicking a nerve?? Anyone else had that?

mickeylou · 07/04/2009 21:25

hi ilikeyoursleeves - ive had 2 days off work this week with rotten cold that has just knocked me on my backside. contemplating ringing in tomorrow too as i just have zero energy and feel really blocked up and breathless.
