Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

I can't stick Chris Moyles either I can listen to him on the radio occasionally but he was on The One Show the other week and he was so annoying i turned it off.

dannyg · 05/03/2009 18:01

Hia all had scan today all looks good, songrapher made me laugh baby had both hands behind head chilling out with head down in pelvis!!, took her ages to tap & get baby to move both hands out, she said this one keeps bouncing about so took ages to do all measurements lol. I was soo shocked we are having a Girl have two Boys soo am thrilled at the news. ps am gonna upload scan pickys on profile x x

xxhunnyxx · 05/03/2009 18:34

I don't think my friend actually expects me to stand, she really wants to stand at the very front like we were 2 yrs ago but we had to get there at about 3pm to get our spot - not a chance in hell I can do that this time! I think she just expects me to get another ticket for somebody else to come and sit with me .

I'm feeling very hormonal and frankly pissed off today! I HATE work and just wish I was at home looking after my baby . Think I'm in need of a cry and a hug

Gillyan · 05/03/2009 18:35

Gosh you chatty lot! Congrats on the scans everyone!

wind I have been getting stomach cramps so badly that i thought they were contractions at one point. Really really painful and then I've had to rush to the loo, not nice.

Changing bags - I don't think i.m going to bother too much this time as didn't really need one last time, I used to just put nappies, wipes, sacks, muslin cloth etc under the buggie if I was gping into town as never too far away to come home if an accident occurs and it was messy - although this might sound strange but DD's nappy never ever leaked once and she was never sick either, not even the posseting they can do?? Bet I'm not so lucky this time. I too used bis bags if going anywhere for the day.

Sling's mij help! I never even thought about using one with DD as I was worried that she would become clingy and I always wanted her to be able to settle to sleep on her own and not get used to falling asleep on me. However it would be nice to keep that close contact and free up the hands with having a toddler too, how did yours settle to sleep when not in the sling???

Chris Moyles - what a wa@*ker!

saw someone mention spots and I've just realised mine have gone and I didn't even notice or appreciate it!

I don't drive and always go the leisure centre with my friend and her little girl to go swimming but we work opposite days now so i'm dead proud of myself as got the bus today (too far for DD to walk and she doesn't go in buggy anymore ) It was like a little adventure and Dd loved it as we never go anywhere on a bus as have no need to. Then i took her for lunch to a lovely place in town when we got back and it was so nice - I keep feeling a tad emotional and wanting to have spend some nice quality days with her before new baby comes.

Take That! I am a closet fan now, I was totally in love with them when I was younger but I'm more into Rock/Punk etc now. However when I see them on TV it gives me that lovely nostalgic feeling and some of the new stuffs quite good. God they have all aged well! Here's my sad confession:

I got my Mum to drive me to gary Barlow's house when he lived in Plumley, Cheshire as it's not far from us, I was 13yrs, and I left an envelope through his electronic gates with a letter in for him and a picture of him that I asked him to sign and send back to me (in the SAE I had provided) Anyway a few days later it came back and I didn't even recognise my own handwriting so it was a total shock! I always loved Gary! So who is everyone's favourite???

Phoenix · 05/03/2009 18:40

Gary Barlow for me too. I think i love him more now than i did when i was younger

Congrats on your little girl dannyg

xxhunnyxx · 05/03/2009 18:48

gillyan I live in Manchester so we used to get the bus to Mark Owen's flat in Littleborough at weekends and even watched him playing football lol. Also went to Jason's apartment in Castlefield and Howard's house in Edenfield, didn't see either of them but Howard's gf once told us to f* off!! lol. Ohhh those were the days!
Mark used to be my fave but I now like real men so Gary and Howard are my faves now, they've defo aged VERY well!

lydiathetattooedlady · 05/03/2009 18:54

my ex is gary barlows cousin! i was more of a mark owen fan-tho like you gillyan try not to admit it! think he's horrible now tho wish he'd take that stupid hat off his head! i'm also a closet girls aloud fan, my friends would kill me for it ha ha!

EvieBear · 05/03/2009 19:27

hi all,
great to hear lots of good news coming through on the scan fron - congrats dannyg! hunny i am feeling emotional and hormonal and had a good cry the last two nights... feel bad as DP is like uh-oh! i gave him a hard time too as i sent his sister the best scan pic we got at the 20 wk scan and she never replied to it... i just think its so rude as its a big thing. the weird thing is she is also pregnant (4 weeks ahead of me)... anyway cest la vie. i don't expect mega attention but we live miles away and i think it's nice to make the effort. it really peed me off.

my skin is yuk at the moment, and generally i'm feeling really dull. i need to go out and buy a few nice tops i think to feel a bit more glam while preggers.

i think we're going to go to kiddiecare or babybarn at the weekend to try out a few prams etc... that should be something to cheer me up!

lydiathetattooedlady · 05/03/2009 19:35

eviebear i highly recommend kiddicare, we went there the other day and came home with a bargain pram! much better offers than on internet and they have a mini assault type course to try your prams out on!

EvieBear · 05/03/2009 19:41

oh nice one lydia thanks for that!! really looking fwd to it now...

xxhunnyxx · 05/03/2009 19:59

eviebear if ur SIL is also pg maybe she's just a bit wrapped up in it all. I know when my friend was pg just virtually ignored me for 9 months, some ppl are just funny like that!!

I'm so jealous that you're going to Kiddicare! It looks fab but I decided it was that little bit too far for me to go.
I was happy yesterday tho cos I popped in to Lesters where I bought my pram from and the price has gone up £30 so I feel like I've got a bit of a bargain now lol.

mickeylou · 05/03/2009 20:32

i was also going to marry mark owen or failing that have two kids and call them mark and owen. [she cringes with shame] i think there was something very non threatening and therefore appealing about him. today i'd pick robbie any day - minus the alcoholism and drug problem obviously! i find something really creepy about jason orange! he looks like skeletor from he man.

gillyan how cool was your mum takng you to gary barlow's house!!

congrats on your scan dannyg

wonder how belgrano got on today? got everything crossed for you. x

xxhunnyxx · 05/03/2009 20:37

mickeylou i had 2 fish called Mark and Owen

EvieBear · 05/03/2009 20:44

hunny thanks for that, glad to hear it may be normal... its just if someone sent me a scan pic i'd have to reply... and seeing as we're 'family'. ah well, everyone is different (i sent it a week ago and still nothing).
kiddicare should be good... still need to finalise what pram we're getting - nightmare!
is everyone getting a bouncer too - are they worth it?

mickeylou · 05/03/2009 20:58

hi eviebear - my DS hated the bouncer chair but loved a fisher price swing my sister gave me. it was the only way we could put him down to have some tea in the first few weeks. he always needed motion to goto sleep, pram, car etc but would have a duck fit if you just put him down for a nap.

unfortunately my sister loaned the swing to her friend, who very kindly gave it away! . i've looked and they are about £60 plus. ouch!

sounds like your sister in law has a touch of the green eyed monster that she's not the only one with a baby on the way. is she very competitive?

xxhunnyxx slightly less shameful with fish!!

xxhunnyxx · 05/03/2009 21:01

eviebear Don't worry too much about the pram, you've got months left yet (says the woman who ordered hers at 4 months )

My friend has lent me a bouncer, it is a good one but I've seen another one that I prefer. It would be stupid of me to buy a different one just cos i think it's cute tho wouldn't it?

lydiathetattooedlady · 05/03/2009 21:01

we had one for dd, luckily we still ahev it so will use that one. she wasnt keen as a newborn preferred to be put down on her gym mat, but once she got to about 10-12 weeks she loved it. it also enabled us to quickly inhale our food at mealtimes! also used it as a feeding chair when she got bigger as she was soooooo tiny she was lost in a highchair!

EvieBear · 05/03/2009 21:04

mickeylou could be a touch of that... i wouldn't mind if she wasn't pregnant tho, she will have hers first so didn't think she'd feel that way. i don't think she is competitive but she is pretty selfish so that may be what's going on! gee, some people

i thought a bouncer would be great, good to hear it's not always the case! all those gyms and bouncers are quite pricey. i think the gym thingys are a must though, they look fab!

LargeGlassofRed · 05/03/2009 21:59

Gosh just took me ages to catch up
but lovely to hear how everyone is getting on.
My belly is quite outstanding now and rock hard. I've put on 13 inches round my waist so far
Dd2 kissed her baby brothers goodbye at school this morning and one of them kicked her, it was the first time she has felt them move and she thought it was so funny .

I'm moving next month hopefully and also going through a divorce, finding work and added stress very tiring and I'm really looking forward to maternity leave.

I know have nearly all my babystuff apart from a new cot mattress.
Got alot from nct sale last weekend.
Also have to prams now so must not buy anymore!
The big one is lovely and dd has put her 2 dolls in it, which keeps making me jump, as it in the corner of my bedroom.

bozette · 05/03/2009 21:59

Evening all, have had a really hectic couple of weeks but have been avidly reading all of your news every evening before crashing!!

I had my scan today, everything growing well except a willy! It's a girl!! I thought from early on that it was as i felt so different to before. I also have to admit that i was a little disappointed at first as i quite wanted another DS but have very quickly come round to the idea!! Due date also 17th rather than 18th (but will have elective CS earlier anyhow)

I'm another one with excess jungle juice. Remember that from last time. And earlier i sneezed and weeed a little!! Niiiiiice! And the dreams....

Anyone else's DC throw a strop when you collect them from nursery/CM?? Mine hates being interrupted from what he's doing, and constructed one of his first sentences today when i rang CM's doorbell 'sit down' ie i don't want to leave fun activity. Also once had to stop him from banging nursery door screaming to be let back in! He's 18m now.

Misspaella · 06/03/2009 09:43

Congrats Bozette on the scan. When would you have your CS? A week before or so?

Ahhh, sounds like your DS is heading towards his terrible 2's. The tantrums tend to start from 18m. My DD is 21 months now and has been quite the tempermental little madame. She went crazy when DH droppped DS at nursery and she couldn't stay.

Lets hope they get their tantrums out of their system before the new arrivals is what I say. DS started his later (about a couple weeks before DD was born) and it was exhausting. It was constant tantrums and tears in our household; including from me!

Hunny hope you are not feeling too out of sorts. I reckon we must all get a bit snappy and hormonal. It is to be expected. One minute incredible happiness, anger or sadness. It can be a rollercoaster ride!

LGOR I am not even going to measure my waist. All I know is that it is BIGGER. Lots bigger...

hi to everyone else out there.

Patchybob · 06/03/2009 14:22

Hello all. Had my scan today and all is well. Didn't find out the flavour although I was very tempted. Asked the lady if she know what it was and she did which made it even harder to walk out the door without asking!!
She said the reason that I am not feeling much movement is that the placenta is anterior? and that makes it harder to feel. The baby was all over the place on the scan though, she couldn't get a profile as it wouldn't sit still!
Going shopping next week as am now desperate to shop shop shop!!!
Have a good weekend everyone xx

bozette · 06/03/2009 20:29

Thanks Misspaella CS will be about a week before depending on when they can fit me in! Hoping tantrums don't get worse, terrible 2s seem to have started rather early! He's adorable pfb most of the time.

Patchybob i had exactly the same with feeling movement, i've only just really started to feel it, compared to with DS when I felt it from about 15 weeks. I'd put it down to having no time to notice anything but my placenta is anterior too so it all made sense when i had my scan yesterday.

plot2 · 06/03/2009 20:40

Hello all
Great news with all the good scan results. Belgrano I really hope you're ok and the scan went well.
I had my 20 week scan this week and despite this anomoly the baby is looking and developing normally. I will have to have 2 scans a month from now on, one for heart and one for overall development. The two consultants I have at the two different hospitals are great and by sheer fluke used to work together. Neither have seen this problem before and I think it fascinates them so that should hopefully mean good care. Feeling positive and also feel physically good apart from wind and damp undergarments!

You've all really entertained me with your Take That stories, I laughed so much! Wasn't really into them the first time around but think they're great now - much to my dh's shame!

Mij you're info on slings is brilliant I definitely want one this time round, I was a bit of a woss the first time and didn't get into them much then stupidly bought a metal framed backpack which quickly got uncomfortable as dd got bigger so hardly got any use out of it.

I can recommend reusable nappies to anyone, dd never got nappy rash. I used cotton bottoms as got them very cheaply but have stopped using them as now dd holds more in her bladder they leak, we're potty training now so not really an issue but would have liked to go all the way instead of resorting to disposables for the last 6 months. Anyone recommend a reuseable brand for these later stages?

bye for now x

Belgrano · 06/03/2009 20:40

Thanks for your thoughts. My scan looked ok but they still want me to have a fetal heart echo to double-check the heart because of the thick nuchal thingy at 13 weeks (4.1 mm for thos who weren't here then). I was told it would be 4-6 wks for an appt but then the lady called up today and said can I come in on Tuesday! I asked the sonograhper about 6 times if she definitely didn't see anything dodgy and was only referring me as a precaution to put my mind at rest after the nuchal thing. She promised she didn't see anything at all abnormal.

I had forgotten how much scans HURT! They really hurt me. They seem to find the most tender part on my tummy and then press REALLY hard right there for hours. I actually felt quite bruised afterwards. Anyone else have that?

Going to look at Phil&Ted's tomorrow and then off to stay with friends for the wkend to distract me from the fetal echo worry. Will I ever stop worrying? This pg is SO much more worry than the last one. I hope that won't be reflected in the baby's temperament. I have an irrational fear that the reason DD is so good and calm and lovely is cos I was calm and happygolucky in that pg whereas this time my father is dying, and I've had nothing but worry about the baby with all the scares. Can someone please tell me I am being silly?

And finally - I am loving the idea of the kari-me sling and am probly going to splash out (I blame Mij!). I have decided that our summers are so tosh lately that we're unlikely to even get our jerseys off, let alone get sweaty under the sling...
