Hello all!

Sorry I never seem to post any more - I am in the office rushing about all the time nowadays. My London trips seem like a piece of cake in comparison. At least I had time to read and post...

Have been ringing round all the nurseries today to get the bumf so we can choose one. I am insistent that baby shall be going to nursery from 6 weeks, for a couple of hours a week, just to get acclimatised (sp?).

DP is horrified at the thought, but I am simply horrified at the thought of leaving baby with his parents and I know I will have to give in on that score!! Luckily, there is one which backs on to the road where DP and I both work and we live a stone's throw from it too, so I think I shall be plumping for that one. Turns out that waiting lists aren't as bad down here as other parts of the country so we don't have to make any snap decisions which is good news.

We are going to Mallorca on Sat for a whole week . Can't wait!! I spent a few squids in Tesco's last night buying Value shorts, Value vest tops and even a Value sarong. Might have to put a little self-tan on my legs and shoulders before I go so I don't look too peaky!!

The doctor who gave me my note didn't even know that the E111 covers you for maternity, so I had to repeat myself about 6 times before she would write me the note. THEN she tried to cut off the circulation to my arm 3 times by trying to take my blood pressure!! On the way out, she mumbled sthg about me going to see the nurse to wee on a stick, but after that experience I think I'll give me lovely MW a call and ask her to pop in on me before I go. The GOOD news is that she didn't charge me for me doctor's note - RESULT!!

Right, best get back to the grind.

Speak soon, and take care of all those lovely bumps everyone. x

Oooh Lippy, who were you caught by?
How exciting Welshie. Glad your dd seems unfazed by it. DD ran into creche yesterday which was great as I was expecting a bit of a fuss.
The Red Arrows are out here at the moment doing their pre-season training. They will be here until the 6th May. They are very exciting to watch to begin with but when they have all flown low and loud over your house for the 10th day in a row the novelty goes a bit. DD is already sleeping through them though thankfully. She sticks her arms out and says plane brrmm if she hears them when she is awake. She sees more planes and helicopters here than anything else. Not many tractors and no trains at all though.

LipstickMum · 12/04/2005 14:01

Hi Scrags, great to see you!! A week somewhere warm Just you, dp, a fully catered hotel, beach/pool and loads of books I bet??? Grrrr, you lucky thing. Sounds like you're working hard, so a trip well deserved methinks.

Good news about the nursery. I used to work in a nursery, so if you have any questions... Don't forget there are also childminders for babies that young.

Cooperoo · 12/04/2005 14:03

Helloooooo Scraggy.
Have a fab holiday. You sound very organised over the nursery situation. DH's mum keeps hinting about looking after dd over night etc when we get back to the UK but the thought fills me with dread still at the mo. Luckily it does DH too . I think we will feel differently when she is older but at the mo I don't really feel happy. Clingy Mum alert.

LipstickMum · 12/04/2005 14:03

Oh, lol Coop, I wasn't actually caught Thank God, but I was petrified that we would be!!! Bloody teenage boys and their hormones And, ermm we weren't having sex but that's definitely a tmi alert!!!

Cooperoo · 12/04/2005 14:07

Ha ha, I am remembering my teenage years now with a big and think I know where you are coming from......My how things change. We had Dh's dad walk in on us once when we were staying at their house (before we were married shock horror - they are quite liberal). He was bringing us a cup of tea and luckily we were both under covers and it wasn't totally obvious IYSWIM. V though.

hi y'all

not been on for a bit as I've been feeling crappy. Dh was away on the weekend so I was also doing Dd alone which I found a bit much...

notice the sleeping not going too well - me neither. Have FINALLY got hold of a yoga tape (from Amazon incidentally) and it seems v good. Did it sat night and slept like a top. Maybe this is the answer???

did a stealth visit to IKEA yesterday and obtained illicit goods disapproved of by Dh (meidicine cabinet - totally mystifies me why). Fait accompli works every time Fortunately he just laughed when he saw it. All I have to do it get the thing up. I wish I could say I was an independent female and could do it myself, but have to resort to 50s style housewife manipulation of Dh

teabelly · 12/04/2005 14:26

Hi ya Red - sorry you were still feeling abit crap - hope you're feeling better now

He he - Lippy - no you can't just leave it there [wicked laugh emoticon] go on explain fully, he he he You saucy little minx

Welshie - awww love her...intrigued by the 'little bit see-through' tho...? I just love it when they get the wrong word but say it so earnestly bless

Scraggy hi - sounds like you definitely need that holiday - just enjoy it! It'll be along time before you get another lazy holiday believe me!

Oh Lynny what a little madame...my niece pulls similar stunts too, bless them ...and ds isn't yet 3 but can also manipulate when he wants - rather scared of the teenage years ...tell us we'll get through them

Ah, the joys of employing an au pair (or nanny). I loved that thread. DH called last night whilst I was reading it. He hates when he calls and do some chore or something whilst talking to him. He wants my undivided attention. But, I couldn't stop giggling. He got quite fed up with me. I don't blame him, I hate whenhe does the same thing. But, I just couldn't control it. Even if I turned it off and stopped reading, I was still laughing.

And I have to say that even with the moaning I have done about nannythug, she would NEVER do that. NEVER NEVER NEVER.

PinkArjuna · 12/04/2005 15:37

It sounded like such a nice new rug too. I think I would have been shocked to the core walking in on someone on my new rug. I won't let anyone stand on my sheepskin rug fullstop and would murder if anyone had the audacity to shag on it

Lynny - you must be worn out sweety, and with a baby on the way you don't want a big exhibition when you are really tired. I don't know how you second time mums are doing it all I would be too tired for anymore than one baby. Infact I am considering getting doctored so I'll never have to go through this again.

Oh Katz I hope I have a nice clean bummed baby like you did. fingers tightly crossed Oh and one that sleeps peacefully. I'll probably get jet propelled poo and a crying banshee knowing my luck. All my cute minki's arrived this morning I think I have bought so many because they are so cute

Went for my first session of councelling this morning and they didn't turn up I was absolutely exhausted getting out of bed and went half way across the city. You know I really do have bad luck I have started to notice that everthing I do has about a million hurdles before I get any sort of result. All I seem to do is sweat away at things and never get any resolution.

Oh I phoned the estate agent earlier about the machine they said I can have. They are still trying to stretch it out for a bargain basment machine apprently the guy who still hasn't come over to put up the mail box can deliver it himself and plumb it in and just how long do I have to wait?? Well fuck that I'm buying the one I want and having it delivered tomorrow and they can damn well pay me back for all the months I have been waiting around. My dad says he won't stand for it any more and just to go ahead and he'll sort out the rest.

Well I have choosen the painting colours its quite plain but I just want it to be fresh really.

Well I'm going back to bed and am going to sit there munching strawberries feeling sorry for myself.

Lua · 12/04/2005 15:41

Good news! I just couldn't stand it anymore and tried a small bar of 70% chocolate today! and..... my sugar was OK!!! Oh joy, joy!!! Is not the same as a 200 g Cadbury chocolate but will do for now and again.

The good news is you are all allowed to talk about choccies again full time now!!!

Red- Heelloooo. Wondering where you were. Hope you are a bit recovered. Which yoga video did you get. They do aqua natal here but I can't sort the childcare out and I volunteer for toddlers so I would love to do a yoga dvd.
Lynny - There is something in the air as my dd has been a little tinker today too pushing and pushing me, testing me all day!! Little madam summed her up today completely. Lol about your hosp experience. Poor you.
Pink - Oooh lovely minkis. Can't believe about your counsellers not turning up though. Outrageous! Enjoy your strawberries though.
Lua - Yay about the chocolate. My DSD is diabetic and is a bit naughty sometimes and eats magnums and mars bars when he has a hypo (low blood sugar). Do you get this with GD? I am not recommending it though as it is not good for you at all to go through the highs and lows like that.
DD just did a poo in her potty!! Well not really consciously but sort of. She had no nappy on (nappy free time before bath) and came and told me she was doing a poo so I grabbed her and held her over her potty. She was very excited and we had to go and flush it away etc. I maintain she is not ready for potty training but I am pleased she realised she was doing something at least. I am really putting it off until August when the baby is here and we have got the UK trip done and it will be so hot she can be nudy so no nappies to get in the way. Dreading it really. The potty had been around for months to get her used to it.

Cooperoo · 12/04/2005 16:53

Typos!!! Was in a rush. Toddlers clashes with aqua natal. Potty HAS been around. Yawn. Have to go wash up before toddlers meeting tonight. Last one as secretary hooray!!!

LipstickMum · 12/04/2005 17:07

Hey Pink, good for you, just go for the washer dryer you want, fuck 'em, it's been bloody ages. I know what you mean about even the simplest task involving a million and one hurdles to get it accomplished

I am exhausted today. After getting to sleep at midnight (about 2 hours later than normal) I walked to town and then biked for a bit and am now physically incapable of anything!!

Dp taken dd for a walk.

I am signed up for an aqua-natal course. Our local pool just re-opened and I saw the posters up when I went for a nosey, so I put my name down. It was great last time, I did 2 courses (6 weeks) this time I only have time for one. it's lovely being in the water though, you feel completely weightless and when you walk out you feel about 5 stone heavier again

JonahB · 12/04/2005 17:16

Afternoon All,

Lipstick/charley - thanks for all the birthplan advice

Trib - Blue Lagoon!! LOL. I remember that film so well,... well, actually the bit down the slide, when you got to see....... That bit got rewound and played a huge no. of times with my girlfriends .

Mrs Wed, glad we are on your mind last thing at night then

Scraggy, have a lovely holiday! A week in the sun sounds wonderful.

Lua, glad you got a small chocolate fix. It must have tasted like nectar (or like I imagine gulping down a pint tastes like)

I haven't got much news today. I did sleep well last night, but I'm presuming that's my body trying to catch up on the hours of sleep i've missed over the past few days. It is horrid, isn't it. I have full empathy with all of your non-sleepers. I've also just got a brand new mat swimsuit through ebay at a bargain price, so i'm going to brave my gym (not been to in months, I'm ashamed to say) and try to swim a little.

katzguk · 12/04/2005 17:47

afternoon all.

Cooperoo - i'm not having a home birth but i get home visits because thats the midwife scheme i'm on, she comes to the house for all my appointments before and after the baby and all things being equal she will deliver the baby too which would be great. its a fab scheme

Hello, I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread but was wondering if I could join the due in june club! I'm due on June 5th although according to the world and his wife I look more like i've only got a couple of weeks to go! I have 2 ds who are nearly 3 and 4 1/2, hence the reason I am so enormous I think I have no stomach muscles left!
According to the 2nd and 3rd scan I had (had to have a third as the baby was in an awkward position and they couldn't see everything that they needed to) this one is a girl.
Anyone else due in June thinking of having a home birth??
