KVG - yup still at work! Got today, tomorrow and wed this week then tues/wed next and then I'm off, hurrahhh! TBH can't wait now...bosses are avoiding me since my letter so I keep making excuses to go in and see them just to make them squirm abit, he he he - you see I'm very evil really

...actually had so many twinges on saturday I panicked abit and started packing a bag of sorts as I thought it could be the start of things, but it's abit of a sad offering, as I have to buy sooo much for me, and was only able to put in a couple of nighties and a spare toothbrush!! Think a trip to the shops is due this week

MrsWednesday · 25/04/2005 11:58

I like that KVG....a portable miracle. Lovely way to describe us.

Like Uwila and you Tea, am also starting to think about bag packing etc. Still haven't really accepted that there will be a baby at the end of this pregnancy!

teabelly · 25/04/2005 12:05

LOL, Mrs W - and you think us 2nd timers would be more prepared I know what you mean tho, with ds I was aware all the way through my pregnancy that at so many weeks he was this big doing this and that, etc...but this time around I forget sometimes I'm pg at all (hard I know with a massive bump like this!), and then get a well timed kicking reminder and feel guilty that I forgot ...still I'm sure that in a few weeks I'll wish I could still forget as I get up at some unearthly hour for the umpteenth time that night!

bubbaloo · 25/04/2005 12:24

tea-thanks for the info on the breast pads.im also off to the shops this week to get everything for my hospital bag so i'll put some of them on my list,ta
kvg-not much planned for today accept helping dh assemble the furniture once it finally decides to turn up!

LipstickMum · 25/04/2005 12:28

Hi everyone

It's raining,raining, raining here!!

Manic Monday morning; swimming and music, only just got in having left the house at 830, I need a cuppa!

Trib, I don't think it's usual to see a consultant, unless you have specific issues or problems with pregnancy or birth. I think it's one of those things that varies, county to county. Personally, if I were told I was seeing one, I would panic that something was wrong!!!

I wash all our clothes in non-bio anyway, to avoid the enzymes.

Katz Big congrats on your dh's job! Another vote for happiness, shorter commute and all that over other stuff. You just don't get the time back do you?!

KVG, does your midwife give you your pee sample back once it's been tested?? Interesting policy there As far as I know a + after your number of weeks is the days. I am 31 +3.

I had a chair in dd's room for bf-ing, but hardly used it for that. When she was sleeping in our room I'd feed her in bed and when she was in her own room I think she was already sleeping through... Either way, I remember not getting much use out of it. It's a bit of a gamble I think, one of those things you have no idea how useful it will be.

I came home today to see the builders have smashed a pane of glass in the bedroom window But they seem to be getting on with both houses today which is good. I told them we are decorating the front bedroom this bank holiday so please could it be finished (one part of it wasnt plastered for some reason) The guy I spoke to is lovely, a bit shy I think, but was very nice to me.

One day at a time!

teabelly · 25/04/2005 12:34

Lippy - bugger about your window...but good that they're getting on with the rest of it...we're also given back our 'samples' intact after a MW appointment...many's a time I've gone straight out shopping and forgotton only to show all and sundry at the till whilst rifling through my bag for my purse afterwards!

katzguk · 25/04/2005 12:45

another advantage for home visits, no embarassing pee!!!

Another one who gets the wee sample back after use. I am very ashamed to say that I forgot all about mine from my last visit...until today! So it's only been in my handbag for six weeks.

uwila · 25/04/2005 13:07

Welshie, don't get me started on the consultant date. I've been freaking out on the matter as it is. QC routinely does elective caesareans at week 39, and they offer the consultant visit to discuss this booking at week 36. So, I have to wait until next Thursday (05 May) whe I will be 36 weeks +7. However, rest assured that if I go into labour before then, I will most certainly show up in record speed demanding a caesarean immediately. I imagine they will think I'm a freak, but I will not hesitate to remind them who didn't want to schedule this procedure back in fricken December!

Well, chances are I won't be heading into labour any time soon (not if Hannah is anything to judge by). But, I tell ya, if Alex doesn't get his feet out of my chest cavity, I may just go get a nice sharp knife and remove him myself.

Lynny, I'm so glad you came to this thread because you always make me laugh. If I knew what you look like, I could visualise that katate chop much better, though.

Ah washing powder. Well, I think it's a bunch of hype to get people to go buy special (heh hem... overpriced) baby suitable powder. Marketing scam. I just used our usual Ariel and kept an eye out for a reaction. No reaction, so I've stuck with it.

Oh yes, cleaners. One of my favourite subjects. We have one. She's fat and grumpy and can hardly bend over to pick up anything without moaning about her back. She's a crap cleaner. I'd fire her if she wasn't so cheap. Her name is Uwila. (To be fair DH does housework too...)

tribpot · 25/04/2005 13:09

Wow, they give you the pee pot back with the pee still in? Do they think you might have some further use for it?! My midwife pours it down the sink and then gives me the pot back.

KVG, your +5 does suggest +5 days. Today I'm 31+3, you should be 31+2 I reckon.

Btw, I had a look at my car insurance policy, nothing in it about not being covered to drive after a caesarean, although I know my SIL was advised to avoid it for six weeks.

Katz - sounds like Mr Katz's new job will make a fantastic difference to his (all-important) work-life balance. Reduced commute + more time with the kids - it's all good.

uwila · 25/04/2005 13:10

Oh oh, returning the wee sample is positively disgusting. They used to do that to me in Epsom (where I had DD). Yuk! I couldn't believe it the first time she handed it back to me. It was one of my "I wanna go home" moments.

Ick. Fortunately my GP and QC don't do that. Perhaps I've moved up into posh NHS... yeah that's a joke, there's no such thing.

Pink, where are you? We miss you? Come back!!!!

katzguk · 25/04/2005 13:13

re washing powder - we have always used non-bio, it doesn't make me itch!! so no change for baby or DD.

meant to say i had a lovely time at the spa on saturday, although i scared the massage women!! after she'd done my bump i had a huge wave of nasusea (indegestion i'm sure) and just had to sit up, i went very white and she did flap very well!! 'oh my god are you alright ect ect' once i'd rolled onto my side and proped myself up a bit i felt fine!! just a 5 minute funny turn!! was very nice though, felt sooooo slepy after

Mrs W - 6 weeks!!!!! and I thought I was bad for leaving it in my bag for a fortnight once, ha ha ha!

LipstickMum · 25/04/2005 13:14

Well KVG, they broke it, I expect them to replace it, I'm sure they will, they are good like that.

My loft roon is white!!!! It is being painted (by a very nice chap) OMG!!! The end is in sight!!! I think I will cry when this is all over, I feel like crying now

It is nice to have dd sleeping in the same room as us for a little while. I wake up in the night and listen to her little snufflings

Welshie, sorry you're having a crap time and struggling with the tube. It's bad enough at the best of times

By by the way, thanks to tthose for sharing your very intimate 'drip' problems with me I'm much re-assured

katzguk · 25/04/2005 13:16

42 days to due-date!! but only 22 days until the time DD was born!! oh sh1t!!

LipstickMum · 25/04/2005 13:18

teabelly · 25/04/2005 13:18

Katz, he he he it seems far too close when we think in terms of days doesn't it! Can't wait...can wait!...can't wait...! Anyone else getting real excited now?

katzguk · 25/04/2005 13:21

LipstickMum · 25/04/2005 13:23

I refuse to countdown in days!!! It sounds so much worse

Poor Pink, she's having a rough time atm. Exams, depression, ongoing flat sorting out things Hope you're doing ok Pink.

That 'returning the pee' is grim lol And as for you Mrs W!!! Lmao How big is your bag??!! I have recently down-sized my handbag, there's no way I could miss a pee sample in there, thank God.

LipstickMum · 25/04/2005 13:24

Tea, I am mega excited to meet my new little baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

teabelly · 25/04/2005 13:28

I started to get excited like this last time too...the trouble is it's then a very long few weeks to have to wait! So do you have a short list of names Lippy, or are you gonna wait and see what name she look's like when she's born?

bubbaloo · 25/04/2005 13:28

im just plain petrified and only 45 days to go
