morning all,
congratulations to dinky and Daniel, MrsY and Meredith and PT and Aaron. Beautiful names (we expect nothing less on this thread) but so sorry PT that you've had to leave your little man behind. Sending you huge hugs from Saudi and hoping that you get to bring him home very soon.
Good luck to everyone else who is imminent.
Can't believe I'm finally settled back in at home with Harrison. He is such a gorgeous little boy (I know I'm biased) but so far compared to the last 3 he is really behaving and our 2 year old DD is doing really well with him at the moment.
Had to chuckle about the comment about DOS updating you all. I'd asked him to pop on just to update but was mortified when I came home to find that he'd 'outed' me on the birth announcements thread giving out full names of us all to complete strangers. Seems the excitement of him suddenly having a son at age 42 got to him . Might have to namechange now.
Haven't really got much of an exciting birth story. Went into hospital at 8am on Sunday and unlike last time they were pretty prompt. Was down to theatre by around 9.30am to see anaesthatist who initially said he would do a GA (due to spinal fusion) but I insisted on spinal so DH could be there. He then said DH couldn't be there and when I said we'd been told he could he said it was hospital policy that he couldn't. Needless to say, my BP shot up and I argued that he'd been there when DD born 2 years ago. He remained adamant he couldn't be there at which point I said fine, started to get off the bed and said I was going home! Luckily our consultant then arrived all happy and friendly as usual and asked how I was at which point I informed him that the nasty drugs man wouldn't let DH be there. There then followed a heated discussion in arabic between our lovely consultant and the drugs man which our man won and DH was there to see his son born.
The sad bit for me was that (again) they didn't let me see Harrison when he was born, no skin to skin and I just had a quick glimpse of him before they took him away to the nursery and had to make do with some piccies that my wonderful DH took until I finally got to cuddle him (Harrison, not DH) almost 2 hours later. I was gutted but at the end of the day, he is perfect so that is all that mattered. I was getting quite worried having turned down all the tests ie amnio/cvs but the gamble paid off.
Was shocked by the amount of pain I was in after the CS, much worse than the last two but apparently it gets worse each time and the older you get! I had a lot of bleeding afterwards and some nasty female doctor decided that my uterus needing massaging and proceeded to jump on my stomach and press as hard as she could on my stomach which was absolute agony. Thankfully the pain is easing a bit now but a bit bruised.
Had a bit of a wobbly moment when being discharged when the paediatrician phoned my room in the hospital and said DS was a little jaundiced but not enough to be kept in so going back tomorrow for tests and then as almost an afterthought said he had tongue tie. I had no idea what this was and got very emotional however having now researched it a little I'm not too concerned as it appears it is treatable if Harrison has problems when learning to speak etc. He is latching on well now (the first few days in hopsital were hard so he had a few bottles) so I'm practically force feeding him booby and bottles in the hope that all ok with jaundice tests tomorrow am.
Woke up this morning looking like Dolly Parton (but without the tiny waist) so milk well and truly in!
One last positive, our consultant didn't charge the extra SR5000! yay!
