Huge congratulations on your tiny bundles, MrsY and PT! So sorry Aaron's not home with you yet.

I am so bored.
If DH were home I'd be trying to coax him into some self induction!!!!
I suppose I'll have to wait for that option...can't go into labour on Saturday though as Pompey playing at home...terms of our agreement state that I will willingly go straight to hospital in case I need emergency transfer and ambulance can't get to us/hospital due to football traffic!

Congrats PinkTulips. But you poor thing re. SCBU. Hope Aaron is back home with you soon.

Hope it's happening for you KT!

Congrats MrsY - am so pleased for you!

Oooh dinkystinky tear sounds painful!

I escaped tear free but Indy was almost back to back so not only was it a long labour but let's not mention the haemorrhoids. O.M.G. Please tell me they go away one day!

Am adoring my girl on day 8. 2nd set of grandparents have now arrived for cuddles. Up roughly twice a night which is not so bad.

Good luck to all the ladies with on/off contractions. Been there! Hoping it happens for you soon!

PT I'm so sorry that Aaron is not home with you and what should be a lovely time is so full of worry for you. You must also feel really torn between him and your older chilren too. What a worry. Fingers crossed he is home with you all in the next day or two.

MrsY cngratulations! Bet you're glad that Madam is finally out and hopefuly causing you less grief than she was on the inside!

Still having the most pathetically tiny contractions. You'd think it would all kick off far more efficiently with number 2, wouldn't you? Apparently not. Would now actually prefer him not to be born tmorrow as DH taking DS to see Lazy Town Live (lucky them) on Saturday afternoon and would hate it to conflict with me coming out of hospital. Also don't want him to be born on Valentine's Day as he'll never be able to go out for dinner on his birthday without having to share a restaurant with love struck couples...

Congrats to you both Mrs Y and PT. PT...the time before Aaron comes home must feel like forever but I promise it will fly. I'm thinking of you - it must be such a mixture of elation and despondency that he isn't with you.

Well, my bags are packed and I'm ready to face the knife and the baby tomorrow. This virtual world ante-natal group has been such a support to me - so thank you ladies. I don't expect to be home until Monday, so this is me - over and out until then - gulp!

dinky mw told me that there wouldn't be any concern if bowels hadn't opened even by day 3 as your body will be in shut down and holding on to everything..Anything you needed to 'pass' would have come out during delivery.
PT Congratulations Again, another name that was on our list for a while.
Sorry he's had to stay in, but like you say hopefully he'll be home for the weekend. Try to rest up as much as you can, although I suppose that's easier said than done atm.
MrsY Big congrats. I saw the photos and she is lovely!
Astarte yeah, pack 'em off!! I'm wondering at what point would be a suitable time to hand ds and baby over to my mum for the night......
MamaG I had piles badly after ds1, they do go. I used to use vasaline, get a load as close as you can (I put some on toilet paper and wiped before I went) and it makes it a little easier on the way out. Also use some on tissue when wiping after, doesn't sting so much......
thom don't know what to say, I hope it's starting, I hope it's not starting?? I'll settle with sayng I hope you're not in too much discomfort and that baby comes when you want him to.......

I was at hospital for 7 hours (!) and do you know what the pain is?
Go on guess..........

A fucking urine infection !
What is it I'm doing?
We had blood tests, swabs, scans, the lot, talk of bits of placenta being left behind as uterus isn't contracting properly and all that but turns out to be a simple UTI. They said that the reason they think I'm in pain is the UTI on top of normal after pains would be quite uncomfortable and they also think maybe uterus isn't going down as it should because of muscle strain they said I may have been doing a bit too much since birth. But you've got to get on haven't you?

Huge congrats to MrsY & PT on the new arrivals, although I don't want No2 to arrive till at least wednesday, I am getting a teeny bit of all the gorgeous tiny newborns and want to be able to come to the party too.

Had an appt with the ob yesterday afternoon - him & the mw said I was the only lady they saw that didn't want any help encouraging the baby to arrive past the due date. I agreed to see my mw next week for the appropriate encouragement & to start doing all the things that are supposed to help once my bathroom is done, which should be next wednesday now.

LBB DS was the king of hiccuping - I remember when he was really tiny being in bed listening to Steve Wright in the afternoon (radio2 for those youngsters among us) and one of his factoids was that baby boys hiccup lots more than girls which seemed true at the time - he always looked so shocked everytime he hicced it was so funny. Hope you've got some ab now for the uti and they are starting to work

Congratulations to PT and MrsY.

So sorry that Aaron is not back home yet, I know what it's like when your baby's in SCBU. Try and at least make sure you're well rested at night, to try and bank some sleep for when's he's home - and here's hoping that's this weekend.

These are my last childfree few daytime hours (DD1 is at school, DD2 is out with the CM), as half-term's about to start and the baby's arriving next Friday. Feel like I should do something momentous to make the most of them. Definitely not housework. Watch a DVD? Maybe a bath first. Hmmmm.

morning all,
congratulations to dinky and Daniel, MrsY and Meredith and PT and Aaron. Beautiful names (we expect nothing less on this thread) but so sorry PT that you've had to leave your little man behind. Sending you huge hugs from Saudi and hoping that you get to bring him home very soon.

Good luck to everyone else who is imminent.

Can't believe I'm finally settled back in at home with Harrison. He is such a gorgeous little boy (I know I'm biased) but so far compared to the last 3 he is really behaving and our 2 year old DD is doing really well with him at the moment.

Had to chuckle about the comment about DOS updating you all. I'd asked him to pop on just to update but was mortified when I came home to find that he'd 'outed' me on the birth announcements thread giving out full names of us all to complete strangers. Seems the excitement of him suddenly having a son at age 42 got to him . Might have to namechange now.

Haven't really got much of an exciting birth story. Went into hospital at 8am on Sunday and unlike last time they were pretty prompt. Was down to theatre by around 9.30am to see anaesthatist who initially said he would do a GA (due to spinal fusion) but I insisted on spinal so DH could be there. He then said DH couldn't be there and when I said we'd been told he could he said it was hospital policy that he couldn't. Needless to say, my BP shot up and I argued that he'd been there when DD born 2 years ago. He remained adamant he couldn't be there at which point I said fine, started to get off the bed and said I was going home! Luckily our consultant then arrived all happy and friendly as usual and asked how I was at which point I informed him that the nasty drugs man wouldn't let DH be there. There then followed a heated discussion in arabic between our lovely consultant and the drugs man which our man won and DH was there to see his son born.
The sad bit for me was that (again) they didn't let me see Harrison when he was born, no skin to skin and I just had a quick glimpse of him before they took him away to the nursery and had to make do with some piccies that my wonderful DH took until I finally got to cuddle him (Harrison, not DH) almost 2 hours later. I was gutted but at the end of the day, he is perfect so that is all that mattered. I was getting quite worried having turned down all the tests ie amnio/cvs but the gamble paid off.

Was shocked by the amount of pain I was in after the CS, much worse than the last two but apparently it gets worse each time and the older you get! I had a lot of bleeding afterwards and some nasty female doctor decided that my uterus needing massaging and proceeded to jump on my stomach and press as hard as she could on my stomach which was absolute agony. Thankfully the pain is easing a bit now but a bit bruised.
Had a bit of a wobbly moment when being discharged when the paediatrician phoned my room in the hospital and said DS was a little jaundiced but not enough to be kept in so going back tomorrow for tests and then as almost an afterthought said he had tongue tie. I had no idea what this was and got very emotional however having now researched it a little I'm not too concerned as it appears it is treatable if Harrison has problems when learning to speak etc. He is latching on well now (the first few days in hopsital were hard so he had a few bottles) so I'm practically force feeding him booby and bottles in the hope that all ok with jaundice tests tomorrow am.
Woke up this morning looking like Dolly Parton (but without the tiny waist) so milk well and truly in!
One last positive, our consultant didn't charge the extra SR5000! yay!

MrsY - missed that you had popped and also that you have chosen my very favouritest girls name! Well done you, hope you don't mind two girls with same names on this thread if this bump turns out to be pink!

I have been having show stopping period type pains every few hours - they wake me in the night and I heave myself out of bed for a wee and shuffle back and then lie panting til it all subsides. I now have a large pressure in my bum (now that could be the need to poo, its been a few days since the last one!), and constant low down ache. I can't find a position thats comfy really and I'm very teary!

Can't wait to meet him/her now, getting proper fed up with not being able to do things and being stuck at home trying to do housework and having to stop about 5 mins in cos I am in so much pain....COME ON BABY!!!!!

Just a quick note to say that I'm still here too Am having on/off weak contractions but very irregular and a bit of a show but no definitive signs yet. My next MW appointment is 10 days after my EDD so I guess they are hoping that the baby will make his entry by then. I'm with you THOM, I thought that the second one would be early and easy. Another urban myth!

Congrats PT and MrsY! Hope that Aaron will get home soon (lovely name BTW!).

How exciting that so many of you already have your babies!! LOL to your DH MOS and hope that ha jaundice test comes out ok.

Sounds like you are nearly there too Neeerly, good luck! A St. Valentine's baby?

And hope that all is going well Pluto...

MOS Glad you and Harrison are settled in at home.

I got the bruising too - I got jumped on and pummelled just as the spinal was wearing off. Felt myself nearly go flying off the table! And agree x100 - the pain after a third CS beats the first and second hands down!

And to anyone having a baby today, I think Friday the 13th is a great date - very distinctive!

swampy, I feel so much better now (not that you were in pain too, but that it can be normal). I had absolutely no pain whatsoever after my first CS 12 years ago and only a bit of pain last time around the wound, which I'd expected. This time I was just shocked by the stomach pain higher up and like you say, they beat you after the spinal has worn off.

Have been meaning to ask, how is your little one? I remember a few months ago you were worried about him but sounds like all is ok?

Report
swampster · 13/02/2009 14:43

He's absolutely gorgeous, thanks. He does have a condition which could mean anything from him being able to have a perfectly 'normal' life to mild to severe learning and developmental delays. Early signs are great, he is alert and active, not at all floppy, his sight and hearing are fine and he is feeding like an expert (I'm even more drained than I was with his two greedy brothers) which is fantastic. I'll post more in FB at some point.

Report
swampster · 13/02/2009 14:45

And I'm glad we can share each other's pain - I've been living from one fix of painkillers to the next but today I have forgotten to take them!!! Need them now though but it is more than seven hours later than I would have had them!
