Calico - well the pre-op wasn't very exciting really; just cranked up my nerves! Everyone booked for CSs on Friday or Monday was there - about 7 women in total. A nurse took us all into a lounge area and went through the routine for the day and what to expect during and immediately after the op and answered any questions we had. She gave us a little packet of the drugs we have to take the night before and early in the morning of the op and most importantly a voucher for the car park Then we saw her individually so she could double check personal details (including name of next of kin and then sent me off to give a sample of my blood in case they need to a transfusion on Friday. It was interesting that she had my notes from my previous pg and CS - I had PPH then and I remember my GP being really that I hadn't had a transfusion. The nurse today looked quite surprised too - she expected to see transfusion details in my old notes. It was all fine - but to be honest apart from the drugs and bloods which obviously they need to do there wasn't really anything I didn't know from reading about CSs in books and on MN, apart from the confirmation that I need to shave the ladygarden! The whole thing feels much more real now and it has ratcheted up my nerves but I know Friday will be really exciting too.

Sorry Calico - also meant to say the whole thing took about one and a half hours - but they are notoriously slow at the hospital. I expect I'll actually end up having a Valentine's baby rather than a Friday 13th one.

KT, my SIL has rung everyday to ask if there is any progress since I was 37+3 (we haven't told her about Cx/trip to DAU etc so it's not like she's checking up on that!) What pisses me off is that last Aug she went 3 weeks overdue and was moaning about people asking all the time

She is also the one that rang recovery suite seconds after I was wheeled in there from theatre demanding to know why we hadn't rung yet

Grrrr

My laptop has given up the fight so there is no internet for me in the evenings anymore as DH hogs this computer. So I'll say goodnight (until 4am ish ). Hope there is some news from the labourers soon.
Have a good evening all x

Spotty - my parents were the same (calling up labour ward on unlisted number when I was induced); this time round we didnt tell them anything about shows/waters etc so just called them last night after DS2 arrived to let them know they were grandparents again - think they felt quite robbed of all the worrying

Good luck Chilled.

Dinky it sounds lovely (aprt from the tear of course) glad it went so well for you! I am very

This baby's not much of a mover and I know my anterior placenta doesn't help matters but the only movments I am feeling really hurt. Wth DS1 had a fair amount of feet under ribs discomfort but this feels like a knitting needle in my cervix and also in my bowel(nice). What is weird is that most of the time I can't actually feel him moving, just the pain which I am assuming he is responsible for. Is that normal?

Calico1 · 11/02/2009 19:50

pluto - thanks for info, I might try to book DS into nursery for the morning as it sounds like I might miss something if I am running around after him....

Congrats to GTDAHB and to Dinky ! Dinky - sounds like a great 2nd labour but hope the tear isn't causing you too much grief. After hearing yours and Nkweto's positive 2nd labour stories it really has given me hope about mine .

MOS - welcome home with little Harrison and nice to hear from DOS updating us. I can't imagine my DH getting onto Mumsnet to do that (actually I think I would prefer him to stay away !

Chilled - how are the contractions doing? Hope they are being productive!

KT - hope you are feeling a little better and that the headache is fading?

THOM - some of my LO's movements have been downright painful but it's so difficult to know what's normal and what's not!

That's why I popped along to the DAU today because I hadn't had much movement - of course once I got there and hooked up to the monitors LO kicked off and didn't stay still . I had some protein in my urine though and combined with the higher blood pressure I have to see my GP on Friday to double check everything. Am really hoping to go into labour on Friday 13th and give birth on the 14th, because that's what I did with Little O in July 1997!!! Silly really but just one of those little things.

Hope the other labouring mums are ok? MrsY, PT etc.

Congratulations MOS, GTDAHB and Dinky .

Daniel is a fave name of mine, but couldn't be used due to my surname

No news from PT, MrsY or QK?

Registered DS today

It is so difficult to keep up with this thread now....but also very exciting.

Will do birth story and post here and on FB when I've got a minute.....next week now I expect.

If I don't get on in the next couple of days, good luck Pluto .....you'll be fine.

Can't believe DS is a week and a half old already......

Thanks LMN. Have just shed a few little tears - DH has a late meeting at work so it was DS and me doing his bedtime stories alone tonight. I felt really emotional - DS is worried about me having the op and how things will be after the baby comes. Despite his very endearing behaviour last night I know he's anxious. I told him that it's perfectly normal to feel nervous and a bit worried and that it's ok to not feel very excited about the baby coming. I also pointed out all the friends he has who have siblings who are perfectly happy and still do all the things they like to do. I'm going to an emotional basket case tomorrow evening / Friday morning!

chilledmama · 11/02/2009 22:01

Quick update.

Still having contractions and feel really tight but not convinced this is it...either way I'm knackered from 2 nights of no sleep with DS so I'm going to bed. The end room is ready(ish) for examinations and the bath is ready to go if pain increases. If anything interesting happens I will let you know...night night for now.

Know what you mean Pluto....my DD is too young to have had thoughts like that, but I had them on her behalf...and was very emotional ....but she has been great. I did miss her while I was in hospital....but it wasn't as bad as I had imagined....

Will be thinking of you x

dinky Big congrats to you and family and welcome Daniel. Another fab name for a fab febber baby!

The latest instalement in my messed up life.....these 'after' pains got so bad I was left again in a state of screaming and not being able to move, only this time it was outside my front door as we were just going to get Luke registered, so I'm standing in the street doubled over and groaning in agony, so instead of doing what was planned, dp took me to doctors who had a look at stitches (even though I told her that was fine) and had a poke around my gut and sent me to A&E for possible appendicitis (sp?). Got to hospital and after more proding and poking casualty doc said he didn't think it was apx but as it's been happening since delivery it was clearly connected to pregnancy so sent me to the labour ward. They examined me and said uterus was far too high for 7 days after delivery which is a clear indicator that something is wrong and my uterus is probably infected. They then left me sitting there is unbearable pain for 3 hours without any pain relief. In the end I went to mw station to ask when I'd be seen and was told 10-15mins, half hour later still nothing so I left. Will go back to gp tomoz as they should be able to give me more AB's. Never ending here!
So Luke still doesn't officially exsist and he doesn't have a new activity mat......

Morning all, Im still here & still pregnant.
Feeling a little better today, although my lower back still has a bit of a dull ache, but, il live!

Lbb hope you get some antibiotics very soon to help ease everything up for you. It sounds awful. Make sure you get well looked after & rest up!!! That means NO cleaning!! xx

Congrats to MrsY Going to get on to FB & have a look
Very {envy} at all these babies - Mine just doesnt seem to want to meet me as much as I want to meet her.

Dinky Thats exactly what Im going to do when I go into Labour - Not telling any family or friends until she is here & safe. It will be a nice suprise for everyone & less stress for DP & I to deal with on the day.

spotty We have kept quiet about extra consultant appointments too - My mum is terrible for rining 'just to check' I find when people start to ask questions it makes me worry more & feel uneasy.

ChilledMama Hope this is it for you & everything is going well xx

Im off to the gym this morning, for a nice easy session - I was thinking maybe the stepper might encourage her to push down a little more? Will also take my mind of all this waiting.
Have a good day everyone - Will check back on later for any more news xx
