Oh AA - luckily my scales are packed up with the rest of my belongings so I don't know the size of the damage but I did look at my legs in the bath the other day and realise that they are looking rather elephantine. I hadn't noticed because the bump in front of them is so big.

And all those people who say that breastfeeding gets rid of the weight lie! I gained 4 stone with DD and despite her feeding like a maniac for 10 months it was still really hard to shift the weight.

I refuse to think about how much weight I have put on - I know I have put on a fair bit on my legs and hips and obviously my tummy but I cannot think about it until after the baby is born - I am quite strict normally so know once the baby is here I will be working hard to get rid of it! I also refuse to weigh myself in real life or pregnancy life as I think it is horrible - if my clothes fit, I am happy!

Yay for the snow nutty! but poo for the feeling sore - rest rest and rest young lady! And call the dr and see if they can come for a home visit to give you some more drugs xx

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 09:22

Ooh that is exciting - I hope it it is as that makes me feel like we are getting to the edge!

Auld - Cannot believe she is off again - what has the school said? Why is she off so much?

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 09:23

end not edge!!

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 09:28

lol @ 'edge'! Like a bunch of pregnant lemmings hurling ourselves into parenthood.

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 09:30

LuLu, that is pretty much how I feel!!

If the baby is big does that mean you might be able to get it out a bit sooner???!

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 09:40

Yup Nutty - the little wriggler manages to kick, prod and paw at the furthest reaches of my tummy. Think it will be long. (DD was 56cm). My ribs hurt a lot too as they are being pushed out.

Grrrr - clouds rolling over again. 10 mins ago the sky was perfect crystal clear blue. Was dying to get out and enjoy it, but couldn't get any trousers to stay on DD (superglue?). Was thinking short walk in snow (not too much as I'm scared of slipping with bump and everything is really steep round here) followed by swimming as reckon no other mums will drag their toddlers out in the snow to go swimming so we could have the pool to ourselves.

DD seems to have other plans. As quickly as I put clothes on her, she has wriggled out of them.

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 09:42

good thinking BabyB - would think a 'good weight' baby would be able to be taken out a little earlier. Worth checking Nutty.

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 09:44

LOl at DD LuLu - she definitely has character - am really looking forward to the age when this LO is full of personality!

AuldAlliance · 03/02/2009 09:45

BB she's off for various reasons.

Mostly it's because she's the head of the school, so when she has meetings, (1 last wk, 1 yesterday) then she can't be in the classroom and there's no substitute to replace her for one day (I think).

But sometimes it's also because she's ill. That's happened once or twice.
I don't actually know what today's reason is.
The school doesn't say anything, because there's no deputy head or admin staff, really, so there's no spokesperson and it seems a bit mean to yell at the classroom assistant. Usually they stick a poster up on the front door, but today they hadn't, which is why I think they are getting embarrassed.

I'm going to talk to the teacher when she returns, but TBH I can predict her answers (juggling admin and classroom, understaffing, lack of replacement teachers because they're all doing long-term replacements to make up for the jobs that have been cut, etc.).

Hello all, I am pleased to announce I am having no contractions at all today and everything feels a lot more comfortable. So no babies born overnight. Anyway, do you not think I would do a smartphone labour thread if that happened???

I have gone up two dress sizes, and I don't fit into the maternity clothes I bought around 20 weeks, so I have hardly anything to wear. This is a bit depressing. Last night DH encouraged me to buy at least another set of pyjamas and some jeans, so I ordered those online. However I am rapidly getting to the point where I am unlikely to fit in the biggest size available in most shops, and I am not sure what to do about it. So I have put myself onto the Weight Watchers core food plan to get things under control - this lets you eat unlimited quantities of food on a list, but the stuff on the list tends to be fruit, veg, lean protein, low fat dairy and sensible carbs (brown rice, crispbread, etc). I am hoping this will be sensible enough to allow the baby to keep growing nicely yet stop my thighs getting so big I need two chairs to sit in. I don't see what else I can do.

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 09:52

Oh dear AA. Sounds like your DS's teacher is really taking on way too much. Just not feasible to be head and have a class full time I wouldn't have thought. Even at the tiny school I went to in Spain (at its biggest 80 pupils) where all the teachers juggled multiple roles the head didn't take on a class of her own. She taught the odd class and acted as a floating supply teacher and even stood in for the lunchlady if she didn't make it, but she never had her own class.

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 09:53

I am probably a couple of sizes up too I guess, have been living in one pair of maternity jeans and dresses and tights so hard to tell!! And if I don't go out then I stay in my PJ's!!!

Oh Boff, what is the core plan - is that like the points one?

Boff - phew on the no more contractions. Methinks is still a bit early. A few more weeks and then people can start popping if they need to.

Although I haven't been afflicted with the dreaded SPD I don't really fancy going to 42 weeks again with this one so will join in any activities that encourage baby to make its way out into the world.

And yes Nutty DD has recently developed strong naturist tendencies. there is a trail of clothes leading around the house and a toddler dancing in front of me in a vest (only a matter of time before that comes off, followed by the nappy too).

As we've been up since 5am (again) I am about ready for a nap and just can't be bothered to wrestle her to the ground and winkle her back into her clothes.

zzzzzzzz

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 10:02

There is nothing wrong with dressing gowns, I think they are making a comeback...

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 10:03

I would like to go to about 36 weeks that would be perfect - so would have 4 weeks left! Can cope with that!!

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 10:04

Bleu, I got the materials off Ebay for £8 and lost a load of weight very easily before getting pg, in conjunction with taking Reductil to speed up the metabolism a little (I have an underactive thyroid gland). It's the alternative to the WW points plan. There are lists of the foods you can eat in unlimited quantities, and these lists are surprisingly comprehensive. I eat out somewhere most days in RL when not pg, and unfailingly managed to find something suitable in every restaurant or cafe I visited. I also had a proper snack mid-morning and afternoon, which I would usually have ready in my handbag or the office fridge in case of emergency. That all combined with a bowl full of really nice fruit on my desk at work and a mere one hour a week at the gym with an ex-army personal trainer, and I lost shedloads of weight without feeling I was making any particular effort.

I should point out that Reductil on its own is fairly useless unless you reduce calories and take exercise, but I did think taking it was an important factor in rebooting my sluggish personal thermostat in some way which made the process very manageable compared to previous, more intensive but less enduring efforts. I think if I hadn't got pg the weight would have probably stayed off with a bit of vigilance on my part.

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 10:05

I wear a jalaba round the house (the arab dress thing normally worn over clothes). It's soft and very roomy and comfy.

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 10:07

LuLuBai, I went to 42+4 weeks last time and believe me, that was almost more than a woman could bear.

Nutty, I get little fists pummelling my cervix from the inside and heels kicking away just below my boobs. You can almost see them, and it is really wierd. There is a lot of lurching going on.
