HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUTTY

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 08:29

Poor DH, he went into the office fully suited and booted to find it was still dress down due to the weather. Must feel a kid in uniform on mufti day .

Right, quick catch up before I must get on with some work....

BoffinMum · 05/02/2009 08:44

Happy birthday Nutty!

DCs are gutted to find their school seems to be the only one open in the whole county. DS2 was very grumpy about this and locked himself in the bathroom as a protest. However eventually we got him down there!

Chiro has cancelled because the roads north of the city are bad and she doesn't want me driving in my condition!! This is a shame as SPD bad today - did some surreptitious housework yesterday and it has completely knackered my groin.

Off to ante-natal clinic this afternoon.

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 08:47

BB - Eight? Eight! DH would really like 4 but money will probably dictate that we stop at 3.
I don't like those shoes either.

Springy - That dress is wonderful and will really suit your colouring. I bet it feels lovely too.

Bleu - Poor friend, predatory women are awful.

Wow, I thnk some of you missed your calling as wedding planners.

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 08:50

Kitty - I always used to say that I would give birth wearing a teddy and maribou trim, kitten heel slippers. Sipping a martini and sporting a big up do. The reality was horrifyingly somewhat different.

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 09:10

Boffin - What was hypnobirthing like? I'm very interested as I really want a homebirth.

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 09:15

Oh I get it, you are all in on BB's plan to leave Puzzle to talk so we can finish the thread.

Must go and do some work now. Laters big bellies.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/02/2009 09:18

mornign all!

just a quick post - I have a MW appointment this afternoon and i'm trying to remember what i need to ask about...

i know i want to ask about the health in pregnancy grant... but what else???

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 05/02/2009 09:26

Hello everybody!

Springy - good luck with the hotel, some men just don't get it do they... My DH used to be like this - for the first year of knowing him I took charge of ALL holidays and hotels (after one disastrous Premier Inn-type mini-break) and once he got used to the kind of place I like, it was MUCH easier... Tis like training a puppy - takes time but worth it! Look what he managed ALL ON HIS OWN in Oxford!! Clever man...

There are some great suggestions on here, I reckon you'll get what you want in the end... it's a great idea to spend the night before with your "Main Girl" - sis / bridesmaid / mum whoever... you can have a glass of bubbles, some girly support, help with dressing and a quiet, secret wobble if you need to... If you can't find anyone, I'll volunteer to be your helping hand!! XXX

Puzzle (and frekkles), we are having 5 lessons in hypnobirthing, so four more to go. But basically so far it is very like the Buddhist meditation course I did a few years ago. Breathing and focusing on the third eye (but they don't call it that). I get the course free with my midwifery package!

My homework is to read Marie Monga's book "Hypnobirthing", which you could probably get from Amazon or somewhere, and to listen to a guided relaxation conditioning programme on CD, as well as the New Age music CD "Comfort Zone" by Steve Halpern (again this latter CD is probably comercially available).

You could probably find something free on the internet like this as a substitute meditation/relaxation tool.

BoffinMum · 05/02/2009 09:33

Sorry, should have types Marie Mongan. Trying not to be sick at the moment.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/02/2009 09:58

oh

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUTTY!

BabyBolat · 05/02/2009 10:07

Ah Springy, no no no no no no NO.

I am sorry but no. I will dedicate this post to NO and then move on..

His heart was in the right place but NO.

We didn't have a honeymoon - just two days in a cottage in the countryside and it cost us (for an entire cottage!!) £150 for 2 days, 2 nights and free breakfasts (which were adorable) in the nearby restaurant! So once again I say NO and I have to say it was absolutely perfect - you do need some time just the two of you!

Ok that's it, I am sure once you explain to him NO, he will realise that it was not quite what you were expecting and be happy to re-arrange when he realises what else you can get for the same money. Good Luck oh and are you off in to town for shoe shopping today?

BabyBolat · 05/02/2009 10:12

Glad to see Frekkles has worked out the links (although you are just showing off now with ALL those links!!! [grin} )

Puzzle tee hee see our plan is working....

Thanks for all your lovely messages, I did tell DH last night and it made him smile a lot!! he thought it was very nice!

Now Boff, I am glad you are getting all the help you need but it does seem to be taking you away from MN a lot! NOt sure that was part of the agreement , did we realise this girls when we were encouraging her to take on the NHS???!!

Nutty, how is your b-day going? When is the MW coming?

Bleuravin · 05/02/2009 10:22

morning all

happy birthday Nutty!

After I (and then DH apparently) posted last night I took paracetamol and went into a nice hot bath to try to help the ribs. I was sill having bad pain and trouble breathing because of it after an hour so DH called NHS direct. AFter another 45 min with no change they told us to go into the hospital. Waited until 11 to see someone and they said we should have asked for an appointment to the 24 hr gp rather than a&e... got an appointment for gp at midnight , but got seen a little earlier, by this time the pain which had been 10+ on the pain scale had dulled to 5...so they sent me home with co-codenmol (sp) and instructions to stay horizontal today if at all possible to see if the pressure on the ribs eases.
this morning the ribs feel like they're bruised, like I spent the last 2 days coughing (which i haven't) and are about 3 on the pain scale...don't know how i'll stay in bed all day, let alone horizontal... anyone know any good looking delivery men? [wink}

PuzzleRocks · 05/02/2009 10:29

Thanks Boff, I hope you feel better soon.

PurpleMonkey - Can't think of anything else you might need to dicuss at this appointment.

Bleuravin · 05/02/2009 10:48

Springy- I quite agree with everyone else in making sur eyou get what you want, from time away from your ILs, time to dress yourself and make yourself look gorgeous for the wedding, to time afterwards in a quietly romantic setting with your new DH.
Dh and I retired early from our reception to our hotel room, which while still in the same hotel as the reception, gave us some quiet and personal time to reflect about what had just happened in our lives. We mused over our feelings and the nervousness and excitement of the day and I think we solidified it in our heads that way...somehow the day seems to go very fast and it's easy to forget little things which touched you. We would hve never been able to do that if we would have continued 'hanging out' with his family or mine the rest of the evening.

Bleuravin · 05/02/2009 10:51

Boffin- oh dear (again) hopefully you can manage to rest and recuperate today even with your schedule. It's a pity for your boys having to go to school.

Bleuravin · 05/02/2009 10:59

Frekkles I like the houseboat idea for a romanitc get away... perhaps I'll suggest it to DH myself

Bleuravin · 05/02/2009 11:02

hmmm... i wonder if i could talk to myself all day on here... making random comments and rambling remarks...
