Yes I'm sure. Not sure that I want to go, but sure that that's what he decided to book whilst I was in the shower for 10 minutes. Wonderful, isn't it?

Is it this one, Springy?

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 22:43

Nutty, I wouldn't mind that. But the Premier Inn's really naff & right off a really busy traffic roundabout, we won't have many presents at all & those 2 nights are our entire honeymoon. I know that really it doesn't matter, but it's not at all what I had in mind. It's not even a Premier Inn in another city. It's (hang on, I'll work this out properly) yes, it's literally 2.2 miles from our flat, & even closer to my uni.

BoffinMum · 04/02/2009 22:45

Nutty, on many levels it was very relaxing actually, but I was freaked out by the two birth films I had to watch, because they were 20 years old with fat American women giving birth in highly medicalised settings, lying down, totally noiselessly. Creepy. I am told it doesn't have to be like that, however, and that the UK way is much better (i.e. moving around, yelling your head off if you want to and so on).

Film no 1 was 'Mindy's birthing day' and Mindy and her Minge were quite a sight. I do not find looking at bulging fanjos particularly encouraging, especially when I realise I too have to do this in 9 weeks.

No, Boffin. Hilariously, that's where our NCT meetings are going to be. Perfect, isn't it?

It's this one.

Would the follow up breastfeeding chapter be based on a 70s sitcom & thus called 'Nork & Mindy?'

The idea of a very still, noiseless birth freaks me out. Who could even do that?

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 22:50

& yeah, I'm sure we will Nutty. But this was also meant to be our last chance to have a bit of special US time before becoming parents. I know that I'm moaning & that really it doesn't matter at all, things could be a lot worse, etc. I'm blaming the hormones.

This place is 8 miles from Sheffield and a wedding venue in its own right

Springy, DH feels for your plight and has reminded me that Old English Inns do very good deals (we stay in their pubs quite often) and if you tell them it's your honeymoon they might throw in some free stuff.

I notice they were doing a Valentine's deal for £134 for two nights including champers. As the Premier Inn is around £60 a night it's a bit of a no-brainer ...

Nutty, the lady that did the lesson is a local mw and was very careful to explain this was old fashioned and not to take too much notice, but they simply didn't have any UK modern films yet. Someone has to 'donate' their fanjo, in effect. So they had thought about this. Suffice it to say I will not be getting DH to film me for the cause.

Springy, if they won't give you the £134 deal, you can get Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a four-poster room for £220 for two nights I think, if I have guessed the wedding date right. Really, you should do this. Then you can take your kids back there, go there for anniversaries and so on. You can't do that at a Premier Inn!

BB you don't have the PR account for the Old English Inn people do you, by any chance?? So we can get Springy extra stuff out of them??

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 23:09

Boffin, that is much more like it. I don't know what's wrong with him, I really don't. He honestly doesn't seem to see that there's a need to be anywhere but in our flat.

I shall phone them tomorrow & see what kind of deal I can get sorted out. Then he can cancel that ridiculous commuter hellhole.

Thank you to you & your DH xx

BoffinMum · 04/02/2009 23:14

S'alright Springy. DH will be very pleased if you find something you're happy with. It does look really cosy and lovely in the pictures.

For future reference some of the Old English Inns are great to take kids to for a bit of a break, not too overrun with other people's offspring, and the opportunity for a bit of couple time over a candlelit dinner with junior tucked up in bed nearby (the inns aren't very big).

Are you sure DP is not winding you up, btw??

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 23:18

Sounds lovely

& haha, sadly he's not winding me up. He just doesn't deem it necessary - we have a bed here, blah blah blah. He'll appreciate it when we're there, but he's just being such a man about it all. He's good at the general day-to-day stuff, in that I'm never short of kisses & cuddles, & he'll run around after me tirelessly, but when it comes to overblown romantic gestures he's useless. I'd rather it were this way around, but it does drive me a little mad at times like this.

He sounds strangely like my dad. He sent my mum flowers for the first time after they had been married about 35 years and she cried!!

Your DH (!) will love it when he gets there though, especially when he realises there is decent draught been on tap.

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 23:22

Night night Nutty, sweet dreams. & happy nearly birthday! xxx

BoffinMum · 04/02/2009 23:24

draught beer

I am off to bed too. Springy, just remember you have to make clear from the beginning what makes you happy, so he knows how to provide it. If he feels he is making you happy, then it will all work a lot better. It's all men really want.

Nutty, I am at chiro and then the hospital again, but I will try to say hello.

Night night all! xx

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 23:30

Yeah, I will. I'll make it very clear once my head's not about to explode with his stupidity

Thank you again for finding that.

I hope that chiro & the hospital go well. Night night xx

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 23:30

& wow. 825 posts now. Impressive...

frostyfrekkles · 04/02/2009 23:39

but springy you are so close to the peak district, book a wee b and b, or a room in a pub and get a lift, or a taxi or a local bus out there. be so romantic and not that expensive. cosy room for the night, beautiful walk in the day, traditional pub grub and roaring fires.....a wee bit of googling suggests....

" Chequers at Frogatt - 23 miles from sheffield- great for walks up in the hills - lots of places around for lunch and you can have dinner there - has a restaurant and bar ... nice rooms with four poster beds.

Don't know about walking there and back but you could get a bus to somewhere (Fox House?) alk there - check in and then go for a big walk.

The next day you could go to Grindleford caff for lunch or brekky and get the train home.
