Springy on flowers, completely don't know your preference but if you wanted something simple, you could purchase some really nice calla lilles and go in to John Lewis for some matching ribbon to your dress and tie them beautifully with a bow (we had these for our bridesmaids) but will costs you about £15 and we were charged £50 each for them (daylight robbery!!!).

conkertree · 04/02/2009 15:50

may be being cynical, but i do wonder how many first time dads will still want 4 after the first actually arrives .

suppose it will depend on how well they sleep but I have always been adamant that i want more than 2, and have found myself questioning that from time to time after yet another broken sleep night (from our 17 month old) and pain every time i move in bed.

I have told DH we will see how 1 goes and then we will see how 2 goes and keep working our way up until from there!!!

Bleuravin · 04/02/2009 15:51

I have been honest with him, both tactfully and brutally... he thinks every time it's the real thing... convinces himself it is all going to happen like in the movies... It's his simplicity... Just can't get through to him...

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:52

My fanjo will not be getting 8 babies out of it, we will have 2 and probably adopt 2 and I think that will be us done!

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 15:52

I wasn't going to get shoes like that - but was going to ask what kind of shoes you reckon? I think I'll also need something to cover at least my shoulders with it being Feb & all - again, any suggestions?

I think I will have flowers - asides from anything else, a small bouquet would be something with which to hide the bump

I'm really not sure what to do about a receptiony thing, though. Obviously nothing big - I'm pretty much just thinking booking a big table in a restaurant, but I'm worried that it'll seem really strange being surrounded by people who are there just for a normal meal? Although part of me thinks that that'd be quite funny in itself.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:54

Springy a lot of places do private rooms that you can hire in the restaurant which would be nice!

What is your budget for shoes? (I ask because I have no concept of what is ok - have them ranging from £4-£450!!)

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 15:56

Ooh, good idea on the flowers BB. Especially the matching ribbon.

I'm beginning to actually be quite excited instead of just aghast at the concept of having to sort this out

Also, I want 3 or 4 children, but not 3 or 4 pregnancies & births. I think it'll depend on how easily I can forget I definitely want more than 1, though.

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 16:00

Hmm, shoes probably about £60 - 80.

I'm at a disadvantage because I don't know Sheffield, or anyone else who knows Sheffield, so I don't know where would be good to eat. Good point about the private room, though. Google is getting a right good thrashing from me today.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 16:00

Like this but perhaps with more of a bow?

BoffinMum · 04/02/2009 16:01

3 pg and births is not too bad, honestly. 4 was pushing it a bit for me. I actually wanted 6 originally, but I seem to have run out of steam.

Shoe selections

Debenhams - quite traditional but some nice ones in amongst these here

My wedding shoes were only £20 from Debenhams and I loved them - my friend got married in Jimmy Choos (while wearing a cathedral length wedding gown - complete waste of money as no one saw them!!

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 16:09

Ok ignore my link there is probably only one nice pair - how are you with heels springy? kitten / 4 inch / flat???

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 16:10

DP is currently outside, pelting the window with snowballs whilst I completely ignore him. I'm not sure if this makes me really boring or mature

Oh, those flowers look really nice. I'm rather sold!

Boffin, I can't see you making it to 6, somehow I hope that 3 isn't too bad - I think that 2 seems a bit too neat (despite being from a 2 child family), but 4 leads to requiring a bigger car, etc.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 16:12

I was a three and hated it growing up (although some people love it) so I would want 2 or 4 and with you springy, 2 seems too neat - although I will probably change my mind!!!

I'm back from waving Dad off at the airport! Yay! Hello ladies...

BB - so sorry to hear about your FIL - cancer is exactly what my aunt died of this weekend, hence Dad's emergency trip home for the funeral. Tis very sad but at least she's not in pain anymore... it feels better somehow? Strange but true!

Springy - LOVE that dress!! Excellent choice - and the swishy silk will make you feel really gorgeous. I like the DIY flowers too - we did the same for mine, and they looked kind of like this but all golds & creams with a gold ribbon. Twas super easy and MUCH cheaper than going the florist route!

Loving the pink bolero idea too - how about this in a paler colour?

This is sooooo much fun...

conkertree · 04/02/2009 16:14

which one in the three were you bb - i was the youngest and I quite liked it, but my brother in the middle would probably say he hated it.

SpringySunshine · 04/02/2009 16:15

Generally I'm completely fine with heels, but obviously not so good now...

I actually already have some strappy silver, glittery kitten heels that might look okay. Quite similar to Nutty's link, in fact.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 16:16

They are so easy to do - go for thicker stems as they are easier to tie and look more substantial on your day (go in over the next couple weeks tho and get some cheap ones to practice on!) but they are really lovely - and if you wanted to have flowers at the reception you could get long stemmed ones just in a simple tall vase on the table - looks really nice too x

Bleuravin · 04/02/2009 16:19

ooh those are cute nutty
