LOL LuLu 'Mine appears to be faulty' so funny!!!

Boff that is great news - did she bring cake this time?
Keep those socks on young lady!!

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 13:36

Boffin that good Lucky you having an escort to antenatal clinic

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 13:38

BB actually we gave her cake as DD had just made an excellent batch of her signature chocolate brownies. I am off cake etc now anyway because of the core food plan thing. I am sure I will feel better for it. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix with hot milk, coffee, and 4 rye crispbead with Philadelphia lite and smoked salmon. Core food plan not exactly a hardship, as you can see!

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 13:39

I think of poor ol Nutty with her MIL escorting her and I thank my lucky stars, I can tell you!

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 13:42

So far I have eaten pitta bread as that is all I seem to be able to stomach! not even brown pitta - white starchy bad-for-you pitta bread!

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 13:44

Can you eat Salmon when pregnant? My ILs were appalled that I wanted some the other night and SIL said that it harbored some sort of uckiness for pregnant women so I didn't have any because I couldn't remember, but felt that I had read it was ok...I forgot until now that I was going to ask/look it up

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 13:45

Poor BB... maybe some oatmeal? or mashed potatoes?

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 13:45

Boffin - yay for your midwife. Sounds fantastic.

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 13:59

BB try miso soup. Pret a Manger does the best stuff. Or anything with ginger in.

Bleu, the panic is with mercury but Scottish farmed salmon apparently doesn't have this problem, so that is what I have been eating.

Oh yes, MW also told me about how to persuade a baby to come out around the due date when it is being reluctant.

  1. MW can do a sweep, which involves them poking their finger through the cervix and moving it around, trying to unpeel the mebranes from the cerevix a bit.
  2. Use evening primrose oil capsules as a pessary (suggested by anecdotal evidence)
  3. If you want to try the sex route, you have to do it three times a day with one of the three times being a blow job with swallowing. Apparently (and I was shocked to hear this) THERE HAS BEEN A PROPER RESEARCH STUDY ON WHETHER THIS WORKS! Now I would so like to have been a fly on the wall at the ethics committee for that one!!

You learn something every day ...

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 14:04

That study was commissioned and undertaken wholly by MEN!

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 14:05

And please remember Boffin that we are trying to help BB with her nausea.

gingersarah · 03/02/2009 14:05

I would volunteer to be in the study on whether curry will bring on childbirth.
I have just been through the gingersarah&gingersarahdp budget to see how we are doing and we are severely overspending on curry. I think the HIP in grant should be for CIP.

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:05

I can imagine the slight grin in the scientists eyes when they thought the should perhaps try out all the possibilities...

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 14:28

ha ha LOL I was actually doing the shocked face reading that Boffin!

Ok think I have just scared myself with my googling and need some reassurance - googled regular nausea in third trimester and have read numerous times, that this combined with contant or reaccuring headache (that I have had for about 10 days not severe pain just constant dullness) and swollen fingers (which again I have to the point where I cannot move my wedding ring) are all signs of pre-ecclampsia (sp?) - I am just worrying for nothing yes? Really google should be banned for emotional pregnant women! worth noting my bp is always normal at appointments etc.

I have just been informed my a colleague that I have been allocated her workload while she is on holiday in March (IN MARCH! - the last two weeks of March I might add, the 2 weeks before I am due to give birth to my first child!). Needless to say that is not going to happen and I am looking forward to telling them this when I am back in the office tomorrow!

grrr

BabyBolat · 03/02/2009 14:29

Needless to say I will not be going down the sex route to get this baby out - 3 times a day! He is lucky if it is three times a month!!!

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:30

BB are you sure they know you're pregnant at work?

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:32

yes, who knew 3 times a day... I think that would be a bit stressful actually... maybe it's the stress of having sex tht many times when you're so big that causes the contractions to start?

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:32

yes, who knew 3 times a day... I think that would be a bit stressful actually... maybe it's the stress of having sex tht many times when you're so big that causes the contractions to start?

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:33

oops... double tap, sorry

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:36

DH just informed me he was going to take me away this weekend to North Wales, but now he's not so certain we should go because I have sciatica and thus trouble walking and driving/sitting in the car for long distances... Any ideas how we could make the trip without too many problems?
...If i did 'airplane' excercises in the car perhaps? But they don't really help the bum...

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 14:46

BB if your wee tests are OK then it is unlikely you have pre-eclampsia, I think. Nausea can come about because of tiredness so is that a factor at all, do you think?

Not being able to get your wedding ring off at this stage is normal, and so is needing wider shoes. Also a nagging headache can be normal, particularly once again if you are tired or eating oddly.

If in doubt you could even acquire/buy your own personal tub of wee test sticks, so you can test your wee daily yourself. That might be reassuring perhaps? Just a thought.

Bleu, I don't know where people would get the energy from for 3 times a day on a continuing basis (possibly apart from Springy, of course, but she has youth on her side ...!)

BoffinMum · 03/02/2009 14:49

Bleu, about your trip, try sticking a cold pack on the affected area (20 mins on, 20 mins off), taking paracetemol religiously and possibly stopping the car every little while to get out and stretch?? Or is there a train you could get?

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:50

Boffin

BB- if you're truly worried about the pre-eclampsia you could call the mw/gp again and bring up some of your other symptoms too...

Bleuravin · 03/02/2009 14:50

hmmm train... perhaps..

LuLuBai · 03/02/2009 15:39

BB - I couldn't wear my wedding ring at all for the last few weeks of pregnancy with DD. I only just managed to take it off in time. And then I still couldn't put it on again for ages after I gave birth.
