McDreamy · 08/02/2009 16:24

Afternoon all, just got home from hospital with Abigail, pleased to be home as are her big brother and sister!!!!! Will check in for longer later

KT1983 · 08/02/2009 16:40

Congratulations MOS & fgpl Well done to you both xx

Ive been sat bouncing on my fitball for the last hour...Not sure its doing much good, but is working my leg muscles quite well

My mum just calls 'So, do you feel like its going to happen tomorrow?'

I mean - What a stupid question....After 3 of her own babies??
I put it down to being excited to meet her first grandchild.

herbgarden · 08/02/2009 16:54

MS you ok??? realise now you really do seem to be having a bad day....hope I didn't offend.....

mslucy · 08/02/2009 17:32

MS.
I did "the poo" on Friday.
It took about 4 flushes to make it go away.
I am now stuffing myself with fruit and veg at every opportunity and am giving the codyramol a VERY wide birth.

It is evil stuff and the memories of the havoc it wrought on my bowels after DS1's birth came flooding back.

Stanley is permanently ravenous and my nipples are ripped to shreds. I know this is only a temporary thing and am slathering on the lansinoh like it's going out of style.

I am so in love with this baby it's quite pathetic.

MarkStretch · 08/02/2009 17:49

I would just like to point out that FrankStretch IS NOT ME IT IS SWAMPSTER!!!

Herb- you didn't offend me, infact I retold your poo story to DH and imagined you clutching the bathroom door handle and laughed out loud! (clutching my stitches of course!)

PinkTulips · 08/02/2009 18:04

MS... the after birth poo is worse than vag birth ime, with a baby coming out your so sick of the pain you'd stick your hand into a meat mincer quite happily if someone told you it would get the baby out instantaneousy and put an end to the whole affair. with the post birth poo you're stone cold sober and unprepared for the pure horrow of the experiance.

sorry, forgot again we have first timers about the place

at you neglectful mothers not clutching your precious newborns to your bosoms 24/7 i was like that with ds.... dd never let me put her down but he just lsept endlessly and i was in a permanent state of feeling i should be doing something with/to him...... hope this one allows me the same luxry!

herbgarden · 08/02/2009 18:09

Phew Phew - I need to get with the Programme !....

MsLucy - I remember bfeeding with DS in the early days and for me it was not pleasant......you have my sympathy (and respect !).

I was prescribed Lactolose which frankly just gives you terrible wind and not much effect where you need it. It was just embarassing in the end and even DH was starting to look at me funny

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 08/02/2009 18:10

Hey all, sorry I've not been in for a few days, I never seem to come on for long and always intend on catching up.

Someone give me the run down! I see some congrats are in order?

littlesez · 08/02/2009 18:14

well not been on for ages and ages but i have been lurking rubbish, better on face book im afraid. amused by the poo talk, sure i wont be laughing when its me!

I am supposed to be pissed off at 39 weeks? everyone keeps asking me if im fed up, going mad, had enough, coping,

but could be another 3 weeks yet. The only thing is i dont mind going overdue really i have mentaaly prepared for it but i really dont want to be induced coz wont get my home birth then, got to keep an open mind

Oh all the lovely babies, cute pics and lovely fluffiness. Cant wait, my turn soon!

Love to all mums, bumps and babes xxx

ommmwardandupward · 08/02/2009 18:26

congrats on The Poo, MS First birth, it was indeed traumatic for me - perhaps because of the stitches or the general trauma to my nether regions from a s-l-o-w sunny-side-up delivery.

This time, I have to say, it was a walk in the park. Really NBD. [proud of her superior bowels]

May I suggest dried apricots to all first timers? Mainline enough of them and there's not even a hope of constipation trauma.

I also am loving the names everyone is choosing. Classy birds, us lot

dinkystinky · 08/02/2009 18:28

Evening all. MoS (and DoS) - huge congrats on the safe arrival of Harrison (another lovely name). Look forward to seeing photos and hope the hospital stay is short and uneventful - and you all manage to do a bunk before the consultant tries to make you pay more cash!

FGPL - congrats on the arrival of baby Phoebe too. So many lovely names already on this thread.

MrsY - you're absolutely right to say no to exercise and yes to rest. Hope you've had a good day and get some sleep in.

Spotty - sorry you're in pain but hurrah re you're being able to VBAC! Fantastic news hon.

McDreamy - glad you're home safe and sound. Look forward to hearing the birth tale (remember there is a best birth saga prize to contend for!)

Herb, Markstretch - I remember well the first poo post DS; I had torn badly and was terrified but god was it a relief to get it over and done with. Have ordered in job lot of prunes to help with first post Squiglet poo.

Nkweto - sorry your little lady is getting day and night confused; hope she gets them the right way round soon and you get your rest in.

Pink - sounds like you've had another lovely day. Hope the contractions come back to visit - and stay!

MsLucy - DS was a ravenous breastfeeder too and god I remember the pain of shredded nipples! I found breast shells (when not feeding and definitely when no one else could see me!) helped alot with healing as let the air in to them - and lanisoh is a god send. Hve also heard good things from friends about Silverettes (sp?) which help nipples heal though no personal experience. Glad the love in is continuing despite the pain!

Pink, MrsY - Thanks for sympathising about my cold (sadly nanny not back for another week so not going to get any reprieve from the snotmonster till then - though he is now well trained to come running up to me yelling "Bogey, bogey" when ever he feels a snot trail appearing - am so proud ). Its not great timing to have stinking cold as my plan is to use breathing to manage early labour and after my active day yesterday I had a show last night and have been feeling Squiglet burrowing down further today into my pelvis. Am deliberately not reading much into the show (though my pregnancy yoga teacher is very excited and claims from looking at me that I will give birth within the week - will believe it when I see it) and just keeping my fingers crossed I'm able to breathe again before anything kicks off....

I assume FS was mad that no one was holding him. Any that he was being referred for counselling already... but he is only little and can only express himself in emoticons...

PinkTulips · 08/02/2009 18:42

dinky... the cashier in the supermarket yesterday rather helpfully pronounced 'you're not going to go any time soon, i can tell from looking at you'

my dad dropped up the bed my aunt has handed down to us so poor ds will finally be sleeping in a bed tonight rather than his mattress on the floor (provided i manage to build the damn thing of course!)

forgot to say mslucy.... i found lots of fresh air a wonder for shredded nipples, spend your evenngs on the couch cluster feeding and leaving your boobs out in between feeds to get lots of air and you should get a little relief. that and copious amounts of lansinoh during the day when they have to be covered up.

spottyshoes · 08/02/2009 18:42

This is chuffing riddiculous. How am I supposed to deal with contractions every 10 mins and a toddler for possibly the next 2 weeks? I'll be knackered I'm fed up already and it's only been 17 hours

dinkystinky · 08/02/2009 18:46

Spotty - DVDs is the way to go! I have invested in my bodyweight of Charlie & Lola DVDs and Boogie Beebie DVDs for DS in case this happens to me...

Pink - I hope you brained that cashier with her till. Good luck with putting DS's bed together....

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 08/02/2009 18:49

By the way, due to my current weight that is ALOT of DVDs....

OP posts:
spottyshoes · 08/02/2009 18:52

TBH I am more concerned with the pain constantly for that long DS is usually good playing trains and DH is off for a few days now

ommmwardandupward · 08/02/2009 18:58

you need the poisson rouge website, spotsers

nkweto · 08/02/2009 19:06

Just a quick check in...

LOL at the poo talk.. 1st timers as onwardandupwards said.. dried apricots are your friend..

MsLucy .. have a hot lavender and salt bath.. lean forward and let the water support your weight.. the relief is lovely.. I have done that for the last two days and I feel vaguely human and my shredded nipples are returning to normal.. also cover in nipple cream every few hours...

nkweto · 08/02/2009 19:09

Dinky one last thing ..just in case LO makes an early appearance, I had a friend who claimed her cold disappeared for the duration of her labour (fingers crossed..) if not.. maybe get some vicks in and have it in bowls of hot water during early labour to help you breathe.(again ..just in case...)

dinkystinky · 08/02/2009 19:11

Thanks Nkweto - will make an investment in Vicks tomorrow (as heavy snow showers are currently forecast again for London for Tuesday, oh joy...)

Spotty - hopefully all those contractions you're going through will mean that when your little one does decide to come, it will be pretty quick!

Sorry not to have been on much this week, DS2 has had terrible chicken pox and DS1 has been off school due to snow - just what you need when you are learning to juggle 4 children !! The midwife has told me that BF should confer immunity to Mabel from the pox, but as DS2 has sneezed in her face several times already, I am expecting my perfect baby to look like she has done four rounds with bubonic plague by the end of the week.

Congratulations on those with their new babies and to those who have had their first post baby poos ! I didn't have any problems this time, but after DS2 (3rd degree tear) I was petrified and thought I would never poo again. I agtually found it helped if I held something like a damp muslin/cloth over my perineum for support in the early days (hold that thought) which worked well. Anyway, enough poo talk and back to babies.

Mabel is lovely, but was not my best friend when she was awake for two hours last night. I have her in bed with us and usually she helps herself to the 'all you can eat breast buffet' without disturbing me, but last night she was just really snuffly and kept me awake. I have uploaded some pictures onto my profile, so you can enjoy her before she gets all spotty.

dinkystinky · 08/02/2009 19:46

Oh Laidback - so sorry to hear that the dreaded pox has hit your house. Hope DS2 isnt too miserable with it - and that Mabel doesnt get it! Are you feeling all ok down below now? Hope so. And hope Mabel (who is beautiful by the way!) lets you sleep well tonight...

laidbackinengland · 08/02/2009 19:50

Not too bad thanks Dinky... I think I just need to rest a bit more - I am my own worst enemy. DS2 is going back to school tomorrow, and DS1 will be going back too , even if I have to drag him there on a sledge we have lots of snow overnight .
