I just watched MTV Cribs. I haven't got a clue what those youngsters are saying.

littleboyblue · 21/01/2009 12:15

Thanx dinky. We've been out to tescos and had a little run around the park and he was fine, but started again the minute we got in!
Just waiting for him to go to sleep now so I can crawl back into bed for an hour myself.
The letter from the bank said it's because I am not meeting the credit score or something now which isn't suprising, but £150 is a big drop isn't it? Maybe I can speak to them about doing it £50 a month which would still leave me with £60 for other bits.

MarkStretch · 21/01/2009 13:02

MOS just to warn you, we do odd things in Norfolk

mumoverseas · 21/01/2009 13:03

LBB, sorry you are so stressed today. Like dinky says, deep breaths. You don't need your blood pressure going up. What a pain about your bank, must be worth a chat with them about a gradual reduction. On the brightside, don't forget your CB will go up in a few weeks so that will help a little.

Pempe, hope all ok for you over there. I can understand how stressful it is in another country. You have got a lot of good advice from the girls on here who seem to know so much about waters going etc (I'd never heard of hind water before) Hope you get on ok at hospital.

Thanks for all the congrats for DS. He is just home from school and is a much happer/nicer/calmer person now so hopefully we will have a stress free weekend (its our Friday today)
Right DH home, we are going out shopping and for dinner to celebrate and have to beat salah (prayer)

Calico1 · 21/01/2009 13:24

MS - that is weird!

LBB - I know exactly how you feel. My DS does the same thing. The only way I can get him to stop and listen to me is to start singing...he goes silent and stares at me (out of total embarrassment I think)! It works a treat though.

Don't panic Pempe but do get yourself some advice, I'm sure local hospital won't mind!

MOS - well done your DS!

Neeerly3 · 21/01/2009 13:29

hi all - not really caught up, but must say, Pempe - hope you have spoken to someone regards your leaking!

I am midwifing today - meeting my new one as my original one has gone on maternity leave (how thoughtless!). I've not heard good things about this midwife from anyone so a bit apprehensive. I'm hoping we get to do a birth plan today, plus find out the local support groups for breast feeding as I am 100% I want to do it, but not 100% that I will stick at it, plus DH is very much of the "but i want to help, and can't if you BF" school, so the second I have issues he will be warming bottles! He wants me to have an "Epidermis" (Epidural) he said, cos he can't cope with screaming! I reassured him that last time I was more scared than in pain as it was 28 weeks with twins, so this time I would be far more READY and calm (ha!), plus we'd both like to experience a water birth and I don't think I can have an EP with a water birth, so I think I shut him up.

I think baby is engaged, but will be very disappoointed if it's not, because if I am this uncomfortable now what will I be like when it is engaged!

Off for my pamper day on friday and it can't come soon enough, proper ready for throwing in the towel and taking refuge in bed for the next 4 weeks!

I am having some issues with childcare for the boys when it all kicks off - family are all miles away, but do have a friend on standby who can come during the night or at a weekend - this was always on the proviso that family would be there when they could to take over from her - however since plans were in place MIL and FIL split up and my DH has stopped talking to his mother, so refuses to call her if I go into labour - so don't really have any other family who are in a position to drop everything no matter what time to relieve said friend! I may have to bribe said friend to stay for longer and take boys to school if necessary......

MarkStretch · 21/01/2009 13:37

I am cleaning.

Like manically cleaning.

And inhaling lemony fresh cleaning products.

I am feeling domestically aroused.

My oven is fucking sparkling.

I think there may be something wrong with me.

Neeerly3 · 21/01/2009 13:38

you are nesting MS, hope your bags are packed!

MarkStretch · 21/01/2009 13:40

CaNT TALK. CLEANING FLOORS.

AND TYPING IN RUBBER GLOVES.

Neeerly3 · 21/01/2009 13:44

ok, my money is on MS being the next to pop.....or sectioned, not sure which?!

Pempe · 21/01/2009 13:44

thanks for the best wishes everybody - my gyno did recommend that I go to the local hospital, and we've just got back. Nurse there performed an internal exam, and said my cervix is soft, and I'm about 1cm dilated. I've heard that internal exams late on in pregnancy can trigger labour....so am waddling about now trying to make sure I have everything ready.

The scary thing is, they still want to perform a CS if possible, so have recommended I travel to my maternity hospital tomorrow morning (5 hour drive!) Am a bit worried about what to do if something happens en route, but we pass through several major towns with hospitals, so should be ok.

If he wanted to arrive now or tonight with minimal intervention and miraculously untangled from cord, that would be great (are you listening in there???)

Neeerly3 · 21/01/2009 13:45

ok, i'm hedging my bets between MS and Pempe now!

catstar · 21/01/2009 13:49

Crikey - I can't keep up with you all even now I'm on maternity leave!!

Congrats Oooggs - great news and love the name . Who's next then?

Welcome Katieblird - hope your pg going well so far? Not long to go now though.

LBB - I'm not sure how I'm doing with the toddler stage. We have similar episodes with Little O now and I do find that leaving the house is the best thing. Like you say though, you have to come back at some point . Regarding waters breaking, mine went with a funny pop as I was bending over to put some pork chops under the grill! Definitely couldn't control the flow, but it was another 28 hours until O was born, and the waters did replenish, and leak again and again! I didn't get a show until well into established labour.

Dinky - must be good to have the blinds sorted at last. Now you can concentrate on getting other stuff ready .

Thanks everyone by the way for all the help on the blackout liners. I'm going to have a go at making my own, as the baa baa blinds are pretty expensive and I need two. Will hit John Lewis tomorrow, although I'll have to get DH to check my window measuring tonight as I always get measurements wrong!!!

Pempe - hope all ok with your waters? LEt us know how you are getting on.

MOS - well done to your DS! It seems weird to hear you talking about teenagers when I'm just entering into the toddler stage! Those of you with teenage DS's and DD's, is it true what everyone says- the boys are easier than the girls? Is it just hormones with the girls?

Anyway, have finished my sardines on toast, now it's time to unpack the shopping. I spent a fortune today in Mothercare and Tesco so need to hide it all before DH comes home .....

Stay well everyone - catch you later!

McDreamy · 21/01/2009 13:54

Ooh Pempe sounds like things are starting! I've got my money on you as I want MS to come round here and do my cleaning before she produces I just don't seem to get the nesting thing

herbgarden · 21/01/2009 13:59

Morning all....

Just adding my bit re the waters.....mine went last time with ds. I went to the loo and peed like a horse. Then got off (thought I was done) and, well, had no control and kept leaking. When I phoned the hospital I had to go in and I was just asked to put a pad in so they could take a look. I then leaked on and off for another 2 days before my induction (depends on the hospital policy I suspect but my hospital then like the baby out within 48 hours due to risk of infection if you don't start labour naturally before then).

When I went in at the weekend they kept me there as they thought my waters might have broken or might break (due to past history). I'm still getting the odd "escape" of water and have some very light brown spotting occasionally which they concluded at the weekend was "old blood" (from what though they didn't know)....So pempe second the putting the pad in - it makes it much easier for the hospital to have physical evidence rather than you trying to explain and that's what they were telling all the women on my ward (we were all still pregnant and waiting). I've been wearing pads since the weekend so I can keep an eye out.

MOS well done to your son. Those teaching staff are sometimes a bit quick to write us off - I often want to go and find my old french teacher who said "are you sure you need this A-level??" and tell her that I managed to qualify as a lawyer - she was so patronising.

dinky - sorry your ds is poorly again - hope you don't catch any more lurgies yourself.

Have had a very thrilling day - took DS to the softplay session at our local leisure centre - he got really upset when I said I couldn't bounce up and down with him on the bouncy castle - I almost cried with him I felt so guilty. I ended up sitting in it by the side getting a bit seasick !

e're off to buy a pump this afternoon to pump up the flat tyres on the [donated] P&T's buggy sitting in the garage. DS wants a spin in it so I might just take him up to the local park for half an hour - tyres are all completely flat. Thought it would be good to get him used to a different buggy now.

Will check in later. Keep us posted on the leakages you lot ! (oh and don't worry I'll share mine !!)

catstar · 21/01/2009 14:00

Oooh - lots of x posts while I was typing!

Pempe - good luck and hope it all goes well - that's a very long drive to have to make so take care.

MS - I'm about to get my marigolds on now to get down to a bit of nesting. Oven doesn't need touching tho as it's only a couple of weeks old and still spotless . We've been using the slow cooker, honestly!!!!

Neeerly3 - hope you get your childcare sorted - I'm #more worried about that than giving birth at the moment. Am sure that will change when it all kicks of tho.

Right, really am off now ...

herbgarden · 21/01/2009 14:04

Catstar

To give you an idea on the cost for making - the blackout lining is about £4/£5 per metre (and is 137cm wide). As for the velcro you'll have to get from haberdashery dept and is about £2/£2.40 a metre. If you have a John Lewis you should be able to get all you need from there (If you're in Kingston I think they have a haberdashery dept?) - otherwise you can, I think, buy velcro by the metre in B&Q - we have a huge B&Q near us and I know you can buy it in there. If you buy the small "pre-packs" they are much more expensive.

KT1983 · 21/01/2009 14:28

Just checking on again after my manic clean up in the house....Im with you MS my house is sparkling....ive been scrubbing floors, cleaning ovens, washing, ironing....hmmm....Nesting?? I think so!
just stopped for a Raspberry leaf tea & then ive the hoovering to finish.
MIL bought us a Dyson hoover as house warming present - Its great, but bloody heavy to haul about all over the place.

I have a baby kicking me in the ribs right now, it bloody hurts She cant be that small having such force.

Ive got my mum to get to work on the Blackout blinds for our house. The nursery is southfacing, so gets all the lovely sunshine, but will be crap for daytime sleeps.

Im not sure who mentioned it a while ago, I think it might have been lbb Going to try and get her to have all her daytime naps in the nursery and the nights in with us - Try and get her used to her room asap.

I keep the door to her room wide open now its all painted & the moses basket is all set up & numerous colourful things on the walls - It makes me all excited & I cant believe Im going to be a Mum in 3weeks (hopefully)

spottyshoes · 21/01/2009 14:33

Off for nap, will catch up later.xx

LittleMissNorty · 21/01/2009 15:02

Bloody hell MS....my oven is disgusting and I just can't find this nesting instinct....wanna come and do mine???

Actually, I did clean my walk-in shower this morning....in the house on my own, on hands and knees in the shower with my sponge and Cillit bang hoping I was going to be able to stand up again ...

Went to Asda for some screen wash and milk and come back with £80 worth and a car full....ooops....better go and put it away...

MrsY · 21/01/2009 15:28

oooh - we're gonna have more babies soon - hurrah! I'm so jealous. I still have 5 (7) weeks to go.

We're off to bluewater tonight for a mooch - we're going to a Christening in a weeks time, is it acceptable to wear jeans? I don't really want to buy a new outfit with only a few weeks to go, and the alternative is all black (yawn...)

PinkTulips · 21/01/2009 15:38

opened 'threads i'm on' an there were only 6/7 posts after mine and thought... thank god, i won't have to spend and hour reading through...... only to be directed to a new thread with 120+ posts on it

2 kittens just went to their new house so i'm relieved as 2 less cats makes it alot easier for me to get my head round having a baby! dd is a bit sad but they've gone to live with her best friend's grandparents so she'll still see them and said best friends mother bought her chocolate to cheer her up and the grandparents gave dd and ds a pile of toy trucks that their son had grown out of 'in exchange'

still having random mild cramps but have resigned myself to this baby being hugely overdue and being like this for the next 4 weeks

it snowed during the night and then froze so it was an interesting experiance sliding driving this morning, think i might just keep her off playschool tomorrow if it's as miserable!

c'mon girls..... get pushing, i need more good news to cheer me up

Calico1 · 21/01/2009 15:39

I just got a lovely little velour newborn sleepsuit through the post from a friend. I have been stroking it - can't wait to put baby in it.....oh not long now

Neeerly3 · 21/01/2009 16:03

baby is NOT engaged god dammit! But I am measuring 37.5cm, so 2 weeks ahead....sigh

PinkTulips · 21/01/2009 16:19

neerly, 2nd & 3rd babies often don't engage until labour so you may avoid the cowboy waddle altogether if you're lucky.

i wish someone had told kung fu panda he doesn't need to be fully engaged weeks before he's born..... ouch!
