Hi all. Haven't been on here for ages, so a big hello

Daizy I had my diabetes test this week too, and all is well. However it turns out I am anaemic which is probably why I've felt permanent knackered recently. Got iron tablets so am now awaiting constipation!

Spangle v impressed with your Primark purchases. I totally recommend big Primark cotton pants as I used these last time. Much nicer than the paper ones.

This talk about birth is making me nervous. I had em cs under general with dd (undiagnosed breech - laboured normally to 10cms but then they broke my waters and out popped a foot), and really wanted to try for a natural birth without too much intervention. But every consultant (3 now) I've spoken to tells me I will be continuously monitored, and that to me = intervention at all levels. So do I opt straight for an elective. I am so confused. Anybody any advice for me?

EmmalinaC · 30/01/2009 20:46

Hello everyone

Jael does your hospital offer tours of the maternity unit? Most do and they would probably be able to answer your questions about bottle feeding. The hospital I was in provided various types of formula in ready-made bottles that you simply added a disposable teat to, if you needed it. I really sympathise about the panic attacks - I suffered from them badly myself in the past.

I'm amused by Spangles Primark shopping. I bought some nighties their last time, for after the birth and I still wear them. DH HATES them! I also bought some size 20 Sloggis to hold the dressing over my c-section scar. They were great and I ended up lending them two friends afterwards! Never got them back though

Reggiee I've decided to have a c-section for similar reasons to you. My consultant told me that the chance of a successful vbac is around 50-70% and I didn't really feel those odds (and the constant monitoring, no water birth etc)made it a risk worth taking. I'm not sure if anyone on this thread has had a vbac before?

Momino · 30/01/2009 20:59

Rubysmom, I think a homebirth would be great. If we didn't have 2 children already, I would defn go for one but now, I don't like the thought of them hearing/seeing me go through labour -DD1 is extremely sensitive and cries whenever anyone else is crying. She would need someone with her which would be in laws and I certainly don't want them around when i'm in labour(!).

having a small glass of wine right now... is that bad? i just feel like it would make me feel 'normal' as I've felt so rotten lately.

What is everyone doing tonight?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/01/2009 21:06

Momino!

I am just about to have a small glass of wine too whilst watching QI.

I have just used Hydrocortisone cream on a hideous rash, even though the medical advice is a bit 'meh' as to whether you can use it in pregnancy.

The discomfort on top of all the other discomforts is too much.

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 21:06

Hi JAEL Just wanted to say I knew from day one last time that I would be formula feeding and the hospital provided this for the 5 days I was in with no problems, they tend to stock most of the formula and are fully supportive of your decision.

This time for me it will be Elective CS after previous EM CS and again will be formula feeding, I have booked a look round maternity ward again so that I can confirm the formula I want to use is available and to look at posibilty of paying for side room this time.

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 21:15

also JAEL Im really struggling this time withpost traumatic stress after awful E CS last time, Im suffering xtreme anxiety and panic attacks with it, I am getting a lot of suport from my MW, consultant and the Anaethisist I spend hours with yesterday. You need a MW that supports your decision, mine was excellent and said she'd do same if was in my situation. You shouldnt (if you do) feel like your battling with the medical professional already (or anyone else) Im starting to feel a lot calmer now but obviously my past experiences are still very clear in my mind and I know that till my Baby is heere safely I wont settle. Sorry to rant x

divedaisy · 30/01/2009 21:15

Jael, I am so worried about you babe. You sound like you really need ot speak to someone about your worries. I agree with everyone regarding formula, and I thinkthe only way you are going to be satisfied is if you ask what the procedures are. Being prepared is the only way you are going to get some peace of mind. I don't know what suppport you are getting in RL, but here's my experience recently. A few months ago I spoke to my GP about my fears of PND returning. She referred me back to the consultant in charge of my psychotherapy 4 years ago. He discussed things with me, and although I feel great mentally at the moment he recognised my fears etc and discussed with the psychiatrist amd has informed me of a plan of action should I feel it returning. I saw him in Nov and thought that was good enough support, then a few days ago an appointment came through for me to see the community psychiatric nurse! Now I see her in Feb, but I think this level of support is fantastic - I really cannot fault it at all.

Mooooomino (sorry, couldn't resist!) Momino, DH is away to the pub and I've asked him to bring me home a bottle of Magners.

I am so tired today and very breathless. My bump seems to have exploded since Christmas. At Christmas if I held my stomach muscles in I nearly had a flat tummy - I still could get into my regular jeans zipped up too!!! Not a mission now. Think baby has moved a bit. But just feel so full up all of the time. Any time I eat or drink I feel like I'm drowning!! And I am really sure the SPD is returning - I've a constant pain in my pubic bone - I feel bruised! OK Moan Moan Moan!!

Away to put DS back to bed... again. And then I'm on ebay looking at change bags there!!!

EmmalinaC · 30/01/2009 21:27

Hmmm, I had my weekly glass of red last night so can't have really another one. Wish I'd waited til Friday now.

Daisy I know what you mean about feeling full up all the time. It's so unpleasant. I had quite a big lunch and was still uncomfortable at 6pm. And ooooooohh the heartburn is terrible!

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 21:31

Am I the only one still constantly hungry?

DH keeps saying they'll need a crane to get me of the operating table, cheeky bugger

EmmalinaC · 30/01/2009 21:36

I'm constantly peckish but not eating nearly as much as I was a few weeks ago. No room, I suppose.

Have completely given up the Haribo but seem to be eating a hell of a lot of chocolate instead

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 21:39

I had for tea, toad in the hole with loads of mash potato and gravy, ice cream for pudding, packet of snackajacks, and am now have a lovely cheese and tomato sandwich with S&v crisps, after i have a bar of dairy milk waiting.

im not going tell you what ive got through today!!

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 21:45

Reggiee i'm confused too about what to do as well

My back has been not great this week either. Is anyone else getting intermittent sciatic back pain... at the beginning of my pregnancy my back went into spasm taking some roast potatoes out of the oven. It took a week or 2 to feel more normal again and now over the past wk or 2 i'm getting the sharp twinges when i'm walking about sometimes. I'm wondering if i've done something to it or maybe it's just getting worse as the bump grows more heavy out at the front and I'm compensating for the weight? If it is a back problem I don't think I could cope with a natural delivery.

EmmalinaC · 30/01/2009 21:47

Blimey Bekkaboo but you've reminded me I better get back downstairs before DH scoffs all the ice cream...

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 21:47

Yay no hives with the cadbury's mini rolls just trying to resist having another... doesn't help that the pack is huge as it had 50% extra free!

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 21:50

Im starting to wonder of something is up with me, im not comfort eating im just constantly hungry and if i dont eat ill be sick, i never feel full well not un comfortable anyway,

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 21:58

bekkaboo maybe your LO is on another growth spurt? or you're just burning up the calories fast?

pulapula · 30/01/2009 21:59

bekkaboo,

i am eating more than ever lol! and i have the belly to prove it

i think i need to start wearing my belt thingy as when i have to walk for 10 mins or more i get a bit sore between my legs, as in where my inner leg meets my laalaa - is this some form of PSD? Its also the same after sitting still for a while too (which happens quite a lot )

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 22:01

Fikelly yeah I think isnt one of them! When I had DS I was always off food and never ate much so obviously making up for it this time.

Does anyone know how long after sending forms back you get the maternity grant?

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 22:02

I don't know about you but running around after DS during the day keeps me so busy It's lunchtime before I've realised the time. I don't find i'm hungry until all of a sudden I'm so ravenous I just have to eat ASAP to quell the hungry nausea. Evenings I find are ok... as long as I have a carb loaded dinner and i'm guzzling the odd hot chocolate too.

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 22:06

lol, the other thing is my anger of food, I get so angry with with DH if I dont ea, last weekend I could have hot door when I realised the oven had been on 40 mins with no dinner in it. He thinks im "not real"

bekkaboo · 30/01/2009 22:08

bloody keyboard, half letters dont work it not my grammar. DS likes pretending to type.

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 22:16

40 mins with no food in the oven! arrghh so you had to wait even more time to get your dinner that's really hard!

I'm meeting my 2 pregnant friends for lunch tomorrow at our local & new bottelinos. We've decided to meet at 12 as they are unfortunately v slow with food orders and we wanted to allow extra time for our food to arrive before we felt the need to gnaw at the table DH's are looking after our DC's so we'll get a chance to chat and compare bumps etc. without having to help/share our lunches with DC's and just eat and chat

frazzledoldbag · 30/01/2009 22:19

hi all. Have been asleep since 6pm as was feeling dreadful. DH put DD2 to bed and left DD1 playing Nintendo.....she woke me at 9.30! Still, it is Friday night. Was just so exhausted from v stressful busy wk. We've just had bowls of Rice Crispies and I've put her to bed. Haven't read all the posts but hope all is well. Will read properly later. This baby is very active and keeps kicking which is nice but not exactly relaxing when I'm trying to sleep. Was chatting to friend with an 8wk old baby today - she says she is only just starting to get back on her feet and feel 'normal' again (it's her 3rd baby too but she's had a 7 yr age gap so had quite a civilised existence for the past few years!) I was just going 'yikes, what AM I doing?'......Am still excited though.

FiKelly · 30/01/2009 22:22

frazzle mine kicks most when I go to bed too... It is nice but when I'm exhausted I kinda also just want LO to give it a rest at least until I fall asleep
