I have just read about the woman in America who's given birth to Octuplets.

EmmalinaC · 27/01/2009 12:56

I know! I read over the list and thought 'ooooh, I'm glad I haven't got piles...' Felt more cheerful almost immediately.

Have just thought of another one...

  12. itchy skin
  13. Restless legs

Grumpy well done you for giving up smoking. That's brilliant. I gave up with DD but it was HARD - lapsed a bit after she was born so am glad of the excuse to stop again.

I would have to put ginormous norks on the negative side. Mine are so huge now they're going to be swinging round my knees when this little one has finished with them!

EmmalinaC · 27/01/2009 12:57

Sorry, crossed posts.

Octuplets weighing between 1 and 3lbs each. She must've been huge! And we think we're uncomfortable. I read she is planning to breastfeed all of them...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/01/2009 13:06

D'yknow, I've given up smoking with each pregnancy but always started again once I finish breastfeding. It just feels different this time, it was an absolute breeze to give up. i have promised both girls that I shan't start again.

Now we just have to nag DH to give up too.

Norkwise, I know exactly what you mean - imagine after breastfeeding 8.......you'd just feel like a dairy cow....

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/01/2009 13:16

Oh and at lovely shiny hair.

No - frizzy, crazy hair that makes you look like bag lady, combined with spotty skin. My hair is naturally very thick (and long), so thanks to the wonders of pregnancy, it's not falling out and I look like Crystal Tips.

No wonder DH can easily can't keep his hands off me.....

  14. Wonderfully attentive and helpful DH (most of the time)

I am also feeling very much better about carrying my twins after I heard about the octuplet woman on the radio this morning. If I think I'm huge, what must she have felt like?! Mind you, they said she went into hospital at 23 weeks - I suggested to DH that perhaps I will just take to my bed until they arrive...

Starting to feel slight panic this week - two twin mums I've met on MN and other sites had their twins this week at 30 weeks. That doesn't seem to be very far away and is certainly not long enough after I stop work for my liking...

CoteDAzur · 27/01/2009 15:35

I can't believe nobody has yet mentioned:

  1. Sciatica!
  2. Water retention
  3. Carpal tunnel syndrome (or, as DH lovingly calls it, "claw hands")
Jael · 27/01/2009 15:37

How bad is it that the only way my feet don't freeze is if my 3 year old daughter helps me to put my socks on in the morning
she does the main part, of getting my toes in for me, and then I have to somehow struggle and wiggle alot, again with her help, to actully pull them up. I'm so huge! I wasn't even showing with DD at this stage. Everyone I meet asks me how long I have left, and stare at me sympathetically. But no lie, I am huge!

Jael · 27/01/2009 15:46

Can you believe theres a due in October thread?! X

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/01/2009 16:00

I actually thought of 2 perks (I know, it's not like me):

  1. The secret feeling of LO kicking, especially whilst you're doing something tedious.

  2. No hangovers.......

But I did think of another negative :

  1. Finding that your hitherto straight hair has become strangely curly through the pregnancy AND WILL STAY THAT WAY FROM NOW ON

The voice of bitter experience here - my hair has been wavy/frizzy/curly since being pregnant with DD2. Weird.

llareggub · 27/01/2009 16:02

Grumpy one of my oldest friends from school had the opposite! Her very curly hair went straight. Very odd.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/01/2009 16:10

llare

It's the strangest thing, I always had reallly straight hair, now it curls - but only at the back (kind of from just behind my ears).

I'm guessing those pesky hormones are to blame again.

EmmalinaC · 27/01/2009 16:16

No hangovers is a great one! I spring from my bed every Sunday morning these days...
