My DD was always being mistaken for a boy, even when she was in pink . This continued till she was maybe 18m when her hair started to grow a bit.

yumyum sounds good. I am finding my pg cravings of pizza and cake from when i had DD are coming back- thats probably why i gained 4 stone with her!

pulapula · 25/01/2009 08:30

Moonlit- congrats on another girl- how lovely (i'm jealous). I'm glad you convinced your DH to find out!

runningmonkey · 25/01/2009 19:28

runningmonkey · 25/01/2009 19:29

oh god, sorry about spellings there... am definitely too tired to type

pulapula · 25/01/2009 19:45

Thanks runningmonkey,

I am due to be an auntie twice this year- in July and Sept. My mum and dad will go from having 2 grandchildren (my DD and DS) to 5 in the space of 4 months!

I keep justifying buying more baby boys clothes on ebay by thinking i can always pass them over to my SIL or sister but they may well both end up with girls!

FiKelly · 25/01/2009 20:07

our ds has had a similar prob to girls being called boys.. dressed top to toe in blue or any boy style gear & people still say isn't she pretty!

Momino · 25/01/2009 20:16

hi all, hope you had a good weekend.

had a good weekend despite DH being away overnight at a wedding - I realise how dependent upon him I am for helping on the weekends with house, dog, children, cooking... ie everything! but have been having lovely time with DDs, lots of good playing and cuddles with fewer tantrums. though dd2 (age 16 mos) is really practicing for her terrible twos.

i've a question on pregnancy aches before I go to a health thread. I've found when i pick up one of my toddlers, my hip 'gives'; and when I've been sat for a small while, i can't stand/walk on it properly when i stand up. it feels 'creaky' if you know what i mean. until today it was just one hip and today, my other hip joint started to ache when I picked up dd2.

what could this be? just loose joints due to pregnancy? i'm just not sure i can pick up DDs anymore.

well off to bed anyway early tonight. so i'll be back on to say hi tomorrow.

detsy · 25/01/2009 21:05

Hallo everyone, Moonlit congrats on your pink scan!

Moaning time for me - god have i been rough this weekend. I think all illnesses are amplified when you are pregnant but I was so poorly and feeling so sorry for myself DP came home at 830 on sat and had just got DD to bed - late but I was struggling to pick her up etc without passing out and as soon as he walked in I just burst into tears! Very un me - spent rest of evening and today - till now - in bed with hot water bttles and fingers crossed am starting to mend.

SO Dp been looking after Lottie all day whilst I've been hibernating. Could hear them downstairs this afternoon and I was dozing on and off, when suddenly I got that awful 6th sense feeling and jumped out of bed to find Lottie balancing her little body at the very top of steep stairs - aaghhh OMG. I couldn't approach her as she got excited and started backing up and giggling so ended up screaming for DP (who has selective deafness at best of time) He came racing up and grabbed her (hadn't shut the bottom stair gate, ) So a few milestones this week from solo balancing to unsteady steps to mammoth stair climbs to see mummy.

I'm hoping I start to feel better tomo - going to tell my boss I want/need to work from home from now (office is 30 sloggy miles away) and have no reports anymore so don't see why not? After my scare this weekend I'm determined that family and pregnancy come first and foremost.

Sorry for long moaning post - I'm off to bed very soon so no more whinging from me (I promise) x

pulapula · 25/01/2009 21:07

Just wanted to grumble to someone about a really annoying ebay experience. I bid for a Monsoon shirt for DS to wear to my BILs wedding in April, which had some linen trousers to go with it, ending 2 mins later. I won the shirt then bid on the trousers which had had no bids so thought i'd be safe. Put in a good value for them as I would be saving on combined postage. 5 secs to go and someone outbid me and not enough time to bid again. grrrr. So now i have a shirt with no trousers and full P+P to pay. not happy

FiKelly · 25/01/2009 21:14

pulapula I hate it when that happens!

hope you feel better tomorrow detsy..

pulapula · 25/01/2009 21:15

Detsy, sorry to hear u have been suffering.

I'm glad Lottie was OK- we have had similar experience(s) with DS- we also have 16 very steep straight stairs which DS has scaled- we don't have a stairgate at the bottom as for some reason the bannister rail ends 4 stairs up so fixing it is a problem...

llareggub · 26/01/2009 08:03

detsy what a scare!

Please, I need some reassurance. I have had some sort of lurgy for weeks now. I feel awful in the morning and have not slept well either. I just can't face work this morning and have rung in sick. I feel really guilty though, with just 3 weeks to go before my maternity leave starts.

To be honest I'm not coping with being pregnant, work, DS and it is all getting too much. DS is going through a very difficult phase of not sleeping and I am exhausted. I don't know if it is related to the GD or just being pregnant, but I don't have my usual capacity to cope with it.

Someone tell me I am doing the right thing! DH is not being supportive at all. I just want someone to tell me its OK not to go in...

Am going to the doctor anyway.

LoobyLou36 · 26/01/2009 09:48

Morning ladies.
I am sat at work v.pissed off. My boss is now 7 weeks behind of my wages. He's walking round like a bear with a sore head. I am really worried about money now.. I go on maternity leave in 11 weeks and my DH keeps asking what the hell is going on. I am SSOOO stressed.

I am going to have to ask my boss when I can have some money - I bet he'll bite my head off tho and at the moment I just feel all pathetic and pg and tearful (prob cos I'm .

Wish me luck

SpangleMaker · 26/01/2009 10:14

llareggub of course you're right to stay at home - your health must come first. FWIW if I were your line manager I would say definitely stay at home, from an employer's point of view it's no good having someone in work who's not fit to be there. Hope you feel better after a good rest.

Looby good luck tackling your boss about your wages - you must do it as soon as poss. Try to assume a calm tone of voice but be firm, he owes you money so you don't need to be apologetic about it!

SpangleMaker · 26/01/2009 10:26

Detsy sorry you've been feeling rubbish. What a scare with Lottie! Hopefully your DP has learnt a lesson from the experience (though I guess we can all forget things....).

I think you're sensible to get them to let you work from home. Travelling really does take it out of you and what's the point? Your health is so much more important than showing your face in the office for the sake of it! Have to admit I'm partly saying this to myself too... I'm finding getting up at 5.40 - 6am every day a bit much now. I know I'll be no stranger to getting up at that time when I've a small baby to look after but at least I won't have to get dressed, made up, rush for a train and look alert and intelligent all day.

llareggub · 26/01/2009 10:42

I'm back...I've got antibiotics due to swollen glands and some sort of infection. I have strict instructions to rest for a couple of days to get over it. I saw the lovely specialist nurse, and could have kissed her when she told me to rest. I always need bullying into time off work, but I really can't cope with it at the moment. Thank god I'm starting maternity leave soon.

Thanks spangle, I needed that push!

LoobyLou36 · 26/01/2009 10:45

llareggub hope you feel better soon. Go and put your feet up and rest

llareggub · 26/01/2009 10:50

loobylou, I've just read your post about your wages. Do you work for a small company? Are they in trouble? Or is it a cock-up?

It might be time to formally put your request for wages in writing.

LoobyLou36 · 26/01/2009 12:04

Small company. This has been going on for ages. I was 9 weeks behind a few months ago then got paid for 7 weeks now its happening again.

Just went to talk to my boss but he's not here - he's gone out to look at some new machinery he's thinking of buying!

llareggub · 26/01/2009 12:27

Do you know why they are behind? Is it everyone or just you?

LoobyLou36 · 26/01/2009 13:19

no one has been paid up to date. I've just found out that a woman that left last may to go on maternity is not getting paid either and she's not even coming back to work. I am SSOO angry. This is really not helping my blood pressure

LoobyLou36 · 26/01/2009 13:21

i am so fed up

sorry for ranting

EmmalinaC · 26/01/2009 13:30

Detsy and Llare sorry to hear you're both poorly. I hope you're both resting and being well looked after.

Looby - really hope you manage to get your wages sorted out. You just don't need that sort of stress.

Thanks to everyone who gave tips on the best way to get toddler wee out of our new sofa. I have saved them for future reference as I'm sure it won't be the last time! Sofa seems fine. Am a bit [hmmm] about the vast amount of money we spent on Scotchguard though!

I had some bad news yesterday - my best friend, who is also pregnat and due mid-April, had some bleeding and went to hospital where they did a scan and told her they think her waters have broken. She is being pumped full of steroids for the baby's lungs in case it is born soon, and is also on antibiotics in case she gets an infection. They're keeping her in for at least a week. I've got everything crossed for her - she's terrified. Does anyone know what the prognosis is for babies born at 28/29 weeks?

Lazzer · 26/01/2009 13:44

EmmalinaC what scary news about your friend, I do hope she is okay. I read somewhere recently that once the baby is viable it wuld have something like a 1 in 4 chance of survival, maybe even 1 in 3/4 at that stage. I'm no expert though, all you can do is hope and remain positive. One of my best friends waters broke and she had undetected Vasia Previa, her baby was given a 1% chance of survival. Her little girl is now almost 2 years old and doing really well. So fingers crossed.

Lazzer · 26/01/2009 13:46

Sorry that was Vasa Previa, I meant...
