I've taken it upon myself to open this thread as there seem to be quite a few SW19 mums-to-be.
My ante-natal thread on here (March) is huge and I just can't keep up!

Anyone wanna join me?

Hi Bozette, think we should officially expand to New Malden, raynes Park and Colliers Wood.
Your DS will be about 2 years when new one arrives? Their concentration span increases a lot in that time.
Where are you having your baby?

Hi girls
Wheelybug I agree about the age gaps. You get what you're given. Makes me when people tell me they are going to wait for a baby so it's timed for a certain time of year or so they can have a certain age gap . Sorry about the m/c
I'm very fortunate enough not have have been through one but it must be truly devastating . I have PCOS which is a complete bugger - but great if trying not to conceive
Wobblypig Yes two boys will be lovely, I'm so excited! DS seems excited too but I'm not sure if he really understands that there will be an actual real life baby soon He's 3. now though so I'm sure he will understand soon enough - Hope the washing wasn't too awful, I hope you're not ironing any of it! I hate ironing, it's a complete waste of time - life's just too short
Turtle Lurk/post as much as you want - you're more than welcome
kmp did you mean to put 6 weeks or 6 months? Mind you, it takes me so long to reproduce that I'll probably be back ttc not long after this one comes along - could take a couple of years anyway.
Hi Bozette Don't worry, your Ds will only just be under 2 - you'll be fine

Shall we have a list?

Ante-natal
Fruity - EDD 22nd March(Boy), DS aged 3.5, Merton Abbey
Thehouseofmirth -
WobblyPig -
Hadeda -
Wheelybug -
Bozette - EDD ? July, DS aged 16 months, New Malden

TTC and post-natal

Hi everyone,

DD supposed to be napping but currently blowing raspberries at the baby monitor from her cot. Damn it, I was hoping for a sit-down.

We had an antenatal check at the doctor's today - so doc says "how can I help you" and I said "it's the 16 week check". So she looks at DD and says, a bit doubtfully, "did you miss the 6 week check?". "No" said I, "16 weeks pregnant check". "Oh God, already!" said the doctor (she knows I'm preg, think she just hadn't realised the time had gone so fast). So another vote of confidence there!!

Anyway, here are my details for the list:
Hadeda - EDD 29 June, DD aged 1, Raynes Park

Turtle - if you're still lurking, you helped me with info on the St Helier home birth team a few weeks back. I'm still thinking of having a HB, it is what I'd prefer. I'm going to wait until after 20 week scan to make the decision though as I had low lying placenta with DD (which moved before birth so wasn't a problem) but doc said that is an absolute red flag to a HB. So, if we have it again, I'll stick with Kingston hospital and if not, perhaps head into the unknown..... Good luck with your ttc too!

Nice to meet you all, hope everyone is having a good day. Must run upstairs as raspberries are beginning to become cries....

Hadeda- Good luck! If you cant have a homebirth, Kingston is a good place to be...they're even allowing breech births these days!
Looks like my ttc goes on for another month. !
BTW...wont bore you all with it again but thought I should mention that I am a doula should anybody need one.

Can an Earlsfield bod be included too?
I've got a 3 year old DD, expecting no. 2 on 24 Feb - don't know the sex.

My 3 year old is obsessed with the baby which is good in some ways but I suspect there will be times when she's over attentive when it arrives so I agree there are pros and cons to whatever the age gap and definitely lucky you if you can be so prescriptive with your conception timings!

TTC and post-natal
Turtle - DS 9 months,
kmp - DS 6 weeks,

Yikes ! Does that make me first ?!!

I am going to Kingston. Had dd there - and despite having a terrible time due to fact she had IUGR, early induction which failed etc etc I was really happy with it there. Generally quite happy so far this time round although met a doctor on fri who was spouting all sorts of nonsense about needing an epidural if I have a VBAC incase of a c-sec.

Which leads me on - Turtle (good luck with the ttc, sorry this wasn't your month), do I assume you are doula-ing for Fruity and therefore wouldn't be available in March ? I have been toying with the idea of a doula although not sure (like I have the luxury of time to decide ....).

Report
FruitynNutty · 19/01/2009 14:39

Or can you maybe cut down? I don't know how much BFing can effect conception so I've no idea really. Be a bit sad to stop altogether.

Wheely-Yes, I am doulaing for the lovely Fruity. The chances of both of you having your DC on the same day are pretty slim, though. I'm willing to risk it if you are!! (Obviously no charge for missing it!!!)

turtle23 · 19/01/2009 14:43

Fruity-TMI warning...It drastically reduces eostrogen and therefore mucous...so that is the only stumbling block. Have bought a caseload of Preseed to make up for it! I am too wimpy to give up BF properly...

turtle23 · 19/01/2009 14:44

Wheely-please excuse me for saying this, but PLEASE do not have an epidural unless you have to. As I'm sure you know, you will end up on your back and most likely have an EMCS. If you want an epi for yourself, have it early and let it wear off!

Wheelybug · 19/01/2009 14:46

Turtle - I really do hope not to have an epidural (although haven't had proper contractions so will reserve judgement on whether i can take the pain or not ).

I was quizzing the registrar I saw on friday about CFM (having already quizzed a senior MW and another reg) and he said 'it wouldln't be necessary until I was in established labour by which time I would have an epidural in and therefore would need to be monitored'. I replied 'er I'm not intending to have an epidural unless I really can't take it'. To which he replied 'you would have one because there is more chance of it ending in c-sec/assistance'. I was a bit shocked to say the least at the negativity. Since then have done lots of reading and had a longish thread on here and feel fairly confident that unless I@m unlucky and this guy is on when I labour it won't have to happen.

To be honest, if there was that much risk it would go to c-sec I would go for an elective c-sec.

Wheely-Noooooooo you are SOOOOO allowed to do what you want. I am assuming DC2 does not have IUGR, that is. You are allowed to have intermittent monitoring. You are allowed to say no to any procedure, whether it is epi, cannula, whatever. You had a medical reason for complications first time round, and really they dont recommend vaginal births wih IUGR. Assuming you want a VBAC and are prepared to work through the pain in other ways...you can do as you like. Honest. Especially at Kingston. Email me? We'll take up the whole thread with me ranting, otherwise...
