OMG, PT are you having a baby? Well obviously, but now?! How exciting. Hope you're ok.

London meet up girls Just wanted to apologise for my giant motor-mouth today, I talk lots when I get nervous . I got on the train home and realised that I had pretty much talked non-stop sorry. Also, have to apologise for just plonking myself and ds down at the table without introducing myself, I am really sooo rude! hehehe.
Was lovely seeing you all there though, everyone looks very different from the images I had in my mind. Strange isn't it.
I was also very impressed with the little people considering it was nap time for them....my ds did really well, but maybe I should have a few toys that are just for going out in the hope they will hold his interest! I should prob start tking more stuff out for him.
Boy am I tight and tender now! dinky as I said earlier, 37 weeks tomoz so I walked home from bus stop as quick as I could!! Just off to run up and down the stairs now! Hope everyone else has had a good day

idontbelieveit · 19/01/2009 17:04

Just seen that you're having cramps Pink how exciting.
Am already a mummy btw but will have 2 lovely dds rather than one!

chilledmama · 19/01/2009 17:04

KaZzaL- post details of your cars and I'll do some isofix/seat belt digging. All isofix seats are seatbelt compatible (by law they have to be) but suspect you mean its not one of the recommended seats for the model...we had a lot of these problems when we got DS infant seat...
Have to say...car seat safety is a real bugbear of mine...not so chilled when I see children unrestarined in cars or baby bouncers being used as car seats (I kid you not)!!

Glad you all had a good time at the cafe...hopefully I'll be able to make the next one.

Got my scan appointment for Thursday afternoon so get to see LO soon...cool

idontbelieveit-if you want to keep trying, apparently moxibustion is very good and has a high success rate and as external herbal can't actually do any harm...unless you get the candles too close

Now have to make DS some dinner as he's shouting at me now.

OP posts:
idontbelieveit · 19/01/2009 17:13

Did some moxibustion on sat night, it stank the house out and i'm sure breathing in the smoke is not good for me or baby. It was quite a good way to pass the time before today without worrying but i think smoking 10 bensons would have had the same effect - that is to make me nauseous and fill the house with acrid smoke

Pempe · 19/01/2009 17:18

Evening everyone, it's been nice reading about your London meet up today. I am despite not knowing you yet (i am new after all), but there are NO pregnant women seemingly in a 50 mile radius from where I live so I feel a bit secluded.

chilledmama - do you happen to know about car seats generally? Or can anyone help with this? We bought a SC Ventura and it won't go in our stoopid car on the back seat, the seat belt is too short. DH says he has heard that garages can 'unlock' more seatbelt from somewhere magic but this sounds a bit far-fetched to me. It's either that or disable all the airbags in the car so it can go on the front seat. I thought it was a good idea to leave trying the seat in the car until a few weeks before my due date, despite having it from week 18......

chilledmama · 19/01/2009 17:52

Pempe-I am a bit soapboxish about carseats but not familiar with Greek laws. What is the make/model/year of your car??

onwardandupward · 19/01/2009 17:58

What, everyone was nice??? Even Swampy??? Did she not throw dirty nappies at everyone????

Am beginning to have swollen ankles in the evenings. Soooooooo attractive.

Pempe · 19/01/2009 18:01

chilled - it's a 2000 Mercedes CLK200. 2-door so getting it in the back is a struggle anyway, but is do-able. Also we have a Volkswagen T5 Transporter van, the car seat goes absolutely fine in here, and we'll be using this a lot more than the car (I don't believe there are any problems with having baby seats in the front of vans, are there??? Lordy, all of a sudden I feel very under-prepared and unsure).

Just realised that this time in one week I should know the date of my CS. Scary.

lardybump · 19/01/2009 18:10

Right it is between [http://www.thebabasling.co.uk/ this]

or

this

both seem to be about £35 and both look good.

MarkStretch · 19/01/2009 18:34

Can I ask a question?

For those people having CS, as the time draws closer are you starting to feel scared about it?

Or is it just me absolutely shitting their pants?

Pempe · 19/01/2009 18:41

I think I'm ok about having a CS and actually would be more nervous at the thought of a natural birth. I do worry that the same thing will happen to me as my sister though - they found out she was 'immune' to epidurals so she had to have a general anaesthetic.

MS - which aspect are you worrying about?

littleboyblue · 19/01/2009 18:43

I'm having a natural birth and am completely shitting myself!! Much more than last time.....

MarkStretch · 19/01/2009 18:50

I'm worried about freaking out! My last CS I was off my head after 24 hours of labour and every drug under the sun, this time I will be stone cold sober.

Plus it's major surgery and I'm worried about something awful happening to me.

DH is trying to be reassuring and saying lovely things like 'I won't let anything happen to you' but it's not working at the moment.

McDreamy · 19/01/2009 18:50

Very of those of you meeting up today, glad you had a good time though !

Well I went to the hospital today. Consultant on AL but doctors running clinic were very nice. Bit concerned about my racing pulse, will need an anaesthetic review before the section.

Date booked for 10th Feb, so 3 weeks tomorrow ! All seems a bit more real now, feeling quite nervy about it.

littleboyblue · 19/01/2009 18:55

MS My friend had an emergency cs with her first, she'd had so many drugs and was completely off her face to the point where she didn't really know what was happening. She had an elective cs for number 2 so was 'normal' and said the second was a much better experience.
Yes it's major surgery but think of how many of these are performed every day, so although it's major, in their eyes it must be pretty standard iyswim.

Pempe · 19/01/2009 19:06

Grrr. Sodding SIL's just suggested that "perhaps I should be walking more every day" - having knife thrusts of pain in my no-no every time i open or close my legs doesn't seem to be a sufficient excuse. She believes I am having these pains because I am not walking enough (sneer). 2 hours running errands in town this morning doesn't count, obviously.

Sorry. Deep breaths. Man I'm uncomfortable and grumpy.

mslucyisbeached · 19/01/2009 19:16

MS I'm having similar fears about the elective, though rationally I know it will be fine.

Apparently you can choose your own music to be sliced into by.

I want - don't laugh - Pink Floyd.

Hope everyone enjoyed the London meet up today.
Would love to have met you all but had meeting at school - needed to turn up to ensure maximum brownie points for smooth transition from nursery to reception. Also felt a bit crap after ds's 5am start.

Lots of cramps - not sure I can really call them Braxton Hicks - and general aches and pains in the fanjo area. So basically keeping my legs and everything else crossed and hoping he won't make an early appearance.

So I'm keeping non essential journeys to a minimum and spending most of the days beached on the sofa.

Still no hospital bag packed but have got some "bumgenius" re-usable nappies to play with.

McDreamy · 19/01/2009 19:27

Yes I was looking at my unpacked hospital bag tonight and thinking I should really sort it out!

I am having much more aggressive movements in the fango region - anyone else getting this?

mslucyisbeached · 19/01/2009 19:32

my fanjo feels like someone has shoved an orange in it.
which is why I'm not quite sure how dh talked me into "it" yesterday morning - some kind of record at nearly 38 weeks.
I enjoyed it on one level but it also felt very, very wrong

MarkStretch · 19/01/2009 19:32

McDreamy- what did they say about your pulse? Do they know what's causing it? Did you have an ECG?

MarkStretch · 19/01/2009 19:33

Mslucy- I didn't laugh, I was considering the Dirty Dancing soundtrack!

idontbelieveit · 19/01/2009 19:35

i'm definitely shitting it MS, especially since i found out that a breech cs is slightly higher risk than a normal one.
Am trying to focus on all the positives such as knowing how to schedule childcare, no damage to the fanjo etc etc.

I don't want any music in case something goes wrong and i forever associate it with that music IYKWIM.

McDreamy · 19/01/2009 19:35

Not much just said he would wanted to refer me to the anaesthetist prior to the section. Didn't think it would be a problem just wanted him to know. No ecg yet.

idontbelieveit · 19/01/2009 19:37

McD sorry about your pulse worries.
