so much for a nice lie down/rest/relaxing bath/sleep when DD at nursery. Ended up spending nearly 3 hours sorting out piles of paperwork and completing forms for our bloody tax return in the USA (house out there) I think pregnancy has rotted my brain as I'm sure its not normally that difficult.

Very jealous of the cinema trips going on. Thats one thing I really miss here. Had hoped to squeeze in a trip across the border to Bahrain to go to the cinema (4 hour drive) before LO arrives but its not going to happen now. I couldn't cope with the drive without a toilet stop(really not advisable to use the poor excuse of the Saudi toilets on motorway)
Guess thats me waiting til June to see a film then, babysitters permitting.

Hope whoever is going for the meet up tomorrow has a great time. I'm looking forward to one in the summer if anyone still has time to meet up with all the babies! Hope you manage to go tomorrow LBB.

littlesez · 18/01/2009 13:05

Not been on for ages, no more babies? was kind of expecting another arrival.

Not much to say but so nice to read all the posts. Got a cold again, third one since november so i am currently sulking on the sofa

36 weeks today, she needs to hold on for another 10 days and ill be allowed my home birth

love to all mums and bumps xxx

Hi all - not had a chance to read in detail only a scroll down. Anyway, was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning. Called the DAU at 7am as had some more spotting and after 5 hours there the doctor said that due to past history he was admitting me. I had nothing with me....sent Dh home with a list. Spent all of yesterday afternoon reading the papers and then got about 5 hours sleep last night - screaming baby next door, snoring lady next to me and overdue lady across from me on the baby monitor til about midnight....aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggh and today they've let me home (I knew they would) So only saving grace is that I've lounged around doing nothing for 36 hours whilst my parents have entertained DS !...he's fine apparently. Must go and get a shower and hair wash now and go and get him so will check in later.

They've said they just think it's some old blood which is now working it's way out - and my crampings were just BH's so nothing to worry about. Baby fine and still surrounded by lots of fluid. I'm 36 +4 now so not quite term and baby better in than out still....

I so hope there's a room free for my 3 day stay when I go in -it's flippin torture in there and soooooo hot - I wasn't near the window (which only open a cm anyway) so it was hideous.
Moan over - must dash - check in later.

PinkTulips · 18/01/2009 14:15

herby, sorry you had to go through that. suppose better you know now that everythings ok though than you worrying about it. maternity wards are freakishly hot aren't they?! never understood the reason for that.

eejaykay · 18/01/2009 14:35

Hey, just checking in as been very hectic this last week; sorry for lack of personals but very glad to you're OK despite hospital stays, Mrsy and Herb.

Hello Pempe, glad you've found us! And welcome back KT, you sound phenomenally well organised. I need to work out how to get in touch with you on FB so I can be your 'partner' for letting MN know when we actually drop these sprogs..

I'm at work today trying to get myself sorted enough to leave in 3 weeks time; last thing I should have done was spent 40 mins checking MN, that's how I'm in this mess in the first place! I'm not the uncomfy yet but am a late-Feb due date. Lots and lots of sympathy to all of you who are really uncomfy and not sleeping.

Otherwise, all is well, keep being fabulous and i shall lurk away and post when I can!

littleboyblue · 18/01/2009 14:49

herb Sounds like you've had an awful weekend. Glad everythings ok though

MarkStretch · 18/01/2009 15:05

OH NO HERB WAS IT MY FAULT?!?! I'M SORRY!

rosieposey · 18/01/2009 15:34

Hi Pempe and welcome

Herb sorry to hear about your admittance yesterday It is rubbish on maternity wards isnt it? way too hot! I went to DAU yesterday afternoon too as hadnt felt lo move much all was well with the trace as per usual but did have a bit of protein in my urine but they dont think thats anything significant thank goodness. I just noticed though whilst i was out today that my ankles have dissapeared overnight ( literally ) where i had ankle bones yesterday they are now a smooth line of fluid that you can press in and it stays in! - my fingers are a little bit swollen today too, hmmpphhh i thought i had gotten away with no swelling for this pregnacy because its winter!

Really fancied a roast today but have ended up making a beef casserole because its less work, mmm three hours from now with some nice crusty bread yum!

I dont know about tomorrow either - really want to come as i know it will do me good to get out but feel so knacked after these bp tablets so its looking unlikely

spottyshoes · 18/01/2009 15:51

Sorry you had to go in herb, but good that you managed to chill out when you came home

MS and ladies that dont know what birth they will end up with (well that's all of us but ykwim) Would you do the RLT and Perineal massage if you didn't know yet whether you would go with the ELCS? They think this l.o is head down so I want to go the VB route but is it worth starting them if s/he flips up again?

MarkStretch · 18/01/2009 15:54

Spotty I am doing RLT and have been since 34 weeks. I quite like it though. I've also been hanging over the birthing ball for optimum postioning just in case he decides to surprise me with an early arrival.

Haven't bothered with the perineal massage, but didn't last time either.

spottyshoes · 18/01/2009 16:02

So you wont have thought it a waste of time/money if you hit C-day?

chilledmama · 18/01/2009 16:15

I think this LO curently breech and I have zero intention of having a section unless they drag me in in handcuffs!! definately do RLT but like MS didn't really bother with perineal massage last time...well I tried a couple of times but I couldn't reach well enough to put in enough pressure/effort...apparently you really need to knead! Haven't bothered at all this time round but then I haven't bothered with lots of things this time round so hey no real surprise

OP posts:
spottyshoes · 18/01/2009 16:20

Am hoping to spend alot of time in water/waterbirth so that should hopefully negate the massage - was only thinking of doing it to introduce DH back to that general area slowly! Dont want him fainting with excitment when I finally let him near me after l.o is here

Will get some RLTablets then I think.

MarkStretch · 18/01/2009 16:42

I wouldn't consider it a waste of time/money. It's no real hardship to haul my fat bum off the sofa and dangle over the birthing ball to watch eastenders and I could drink tea until the cows came home.

I am jealous of you being allowed to be in water, one thing my consultant/midwives have said is that they Will Not Allow VBAC ladies near the water, otherwise I would be doing it and probably wouldn't have booked a CS.

MarkStretch · 18/01/2009 16:43

And by the way spotty, if Pinkspotty is coming to Norwich you have NO EXCUSE not to come and we'll have a mini meet!

dinkystinky · 18/01/2009 17:12

Evening all. Swampy - I'll come and keep you and DS2 company tomorrow (evil work permitting) - perhaps you could wear your lovely stretchy bra over your clothes a la Laidback so I can easily identify you . Have contacted THOM via Facebook with my details - prob be there around 12.30ish.... Rosie, LBB - come on, you know you really want that cake/view across the Thames....

Markstretch, Pempe etc - I actually think you CAN get peephole type nursing bras would you believe it (apparently good for people who want to double expressing).. the mind boggles....

Herbgarden - so sorry you've been stuck in the purgatory that is the antenatal ward but glad they've confirmed all is well with you and the baby. And great that DS seems ok having spent all that time with your parents (sort a dry run for early Feb I guess)... Rosie - sorry to hear you ended up at DAU too but glad all ok with little man.

LittleSez - huge sympathies on your cold hon. Hope it passes soon. My pregnancy yoga teacher today confirmed I could take marshmallow leaf tea to help abate the pesky nocturnal cough I've now got and so am chugging it by the tea pot load in the hope I'll be able to sleep without 4 hours of coughing tonight...

Onward - big fan of Big Bang Theory (I too knew various scientists at uni who remind me of the lead characters!) too.

MoS - hope you get some sleep tonight, poor you.

KT - most impressed at your ubernesting but remember to factor in some down time too to chill out (and enjoy your new home in!).

Spotty - RLT is a uterine tonic, so taking it will help your uterus contract down post birth (even if you end up with a C-sec) so the way I see it, its a win-win situation. Have all the gubbins for perineal massage but REALLY cant bring myself to do it (couldnt last time with DS either) - agree that labouring (at least for a bit) in water will help with stretching that area and also wide leg birthing stance and "breathing out" baby will also help reduce risk of the dreaded tearing...

Pink - good luck with the cumin tea... will be expecting a birth announcement tomorrow morning

Right, off to make loving home made fish fingers and green beans for DS to refuse to eat... ho hum

littleboyblue · 18/01/2009 17:20

God knows how many threads in to our fab feb thing, but can I ask a really stupid question? What's a VBAC? Every time it's mentioned I just ignore it as don't actually know what it is
I do really want to come tomorrow, if there is definately 100% gonna be at least 1 other person there (apart from me, not swampy!) then I'll prob come along, but can I see what sort of nights sleep I get?

mslucyisbeached · 18/01/2009 17:30

hello there everyone
still here
have been quiet as have nothing really to say other than I am enormous and feel like a beached whale (see fb profile for evidence)
still living on rennies (and the superdrug equivalent) and counting down the days til 2nd Feb when the slicing is commencing.
have fun tomorrow - have meeting at ds's school and am currently limiting non essential journeys.

swampster · 18/01/2009 17:36

LBB - VBAC (pronounced Vee Back) = vaginal birth after a caesarean.

I spent ALL of last pregnancy fighting to have one in the midwife-led 'home-from-home' bit of Tommy's only to end up with ANother emergency CS that I am quite relieved to be having an elective this time .

swampster · 18/01/2009 17:37

To be honest, it should take me about half an hour by direct bus from my house to get to the RFH so I better bloody be there - it would be too shameful not to. But I have to admit I am petrified of turning imaginary friends into real people!

swampster · 18/01/2009 17:40

I would wear the bra dinky, but I don't think you will need it to figure out who I am - the enormous bumps should be a bit of a giveaway.

littleboyblue · 18/01/2009 17:41

Thanx Swamp, I thought it was vag birth but couldn't work out what the AC would be....thanx for clearing that up
Tomoz will be wierd, meeting people face to face after we've been talking poo, discharge, leakage and all the other really pleasant bits! Being safe that this isn't 'real' to then all of a sudden stand infront of a pure stranger you have been discussing bowel movements with very wierd

littleboyblue · 18/01/2009 17:43

Was also thinking about how we'd all recognise each other, and yes the big pregnant bellies will be kind of a give-away, but it is not unusual to see pregnant people out, and what if we all left sitting at different tables on our own trying to figure out if the pg 1 on the next table is another one of us?

swampster · 18/01/2009 17:54

Here is a picture of MS multitasking in her peephole

littleboyblue · 18/01/2009 17:58

Hahahahaha! very nice!
