Herb......how about a coule of paracetamol and a bath? Or start a live ?labour thread

Hope you're ok, and like Dinky said....can always ring labour ward to have your mind put at rest.

welcome back KT....you sound very organised for someone that's just moved.

Welcome Pempe...where in Greece are you

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 22:21

Herb That's what's happening here too. Feels like about to come on period (if I remember that correctly!) but it's only on the underside of bump, also sharp pains going through back at same time but there doesn't seem to be a pattern. Like you, I didn't experience what I imagine labour to be like as contractions stayed in my back throughout so not sure what the early signs are. Am wondering if I'd be worried about these if it wasn't for GBS, or if I'm being overly dramatic again.......

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 23:10

Must be paranoid. They seem to have stopped now. Maybe the wishful thinking is making me imagine it all

mumoverseas · 17/01/2009 05:40

morning all.
Welcome Pempe and welcome back KT. So glad your move went ok and you are all decorated and back online.

Herb, hope all ok with you now (not seen anything on birth announcements so assume you are hanging in there!)

I had lots of weird aches and pains last night too and wondered whether little fella was wanting to come early. Had a warm bath and when I got out and looked in the mirror (luckily we have a huge one in our bathroom and can fit all of me in it) I noticed that my bump had completely changed shape. Until yesterday I looked as if I still had a bit of a waist from the front and back and now I'm a really weird shape. Little man has obviously decided to relocate himself which probably explains all my aches and pains.

Calico, good luck with your doctors appointment on Monday. Hope you finally get taken seriously. Can't believe that SM hospital are mucking you around so much when they are 'supposed' to be one of the leading back hospitals.

Ref paternity pay, even though my DH works for a british company with a british contract and is paid in sterling they will not allow him paternity leave even though if he was based back at one of the UK offices he would be entitled to it. Wankers. As a result, he is taking one day off the day DS arrives and will have to work the rest of the time although when I'm in hospital he will have to finish work early so he can pick up DD from nursery at 1pm (his office hours are 7am to 4pm) and luckily one of his bosses has said that he can make up the time so he is currently going in at 6am to make up some hours. He is in debt with his leave as he had to return to the UK earlier than planned in December due to my health problems so a huge problem. I'm relying on lots of help the week after I get out of hospital from DC's 1 & 2. Number 2 is coming out on hols from UK during half term on the 14th and then DC1 out here is on half term from the following week.

Paternity leave is a joke. I remember at my last firm of solicitors when it first came in one of the guys there applied for it and the (dickhead) office manager kept saying that he needed to confirm the dates he would be off at least a month in advance. Yeah right, babies always come on their due date don't they?

Hope everyone has a good weekend (its our Monday here )

p.s. don't I get my very own line on the list?

spottyshoes · 17/01/2009 07:44

Gawd some people are sooo fussy .

So general concensus is that most employers suck re paternity leave! My DH has had to book his PL and AL in advance too MOS - Like you can plan these things.

I've had similar pains on and off over the past few days LLB but seem to remember a few people mentioning them a few weeks ago (when the rest of you were at 34 wks). Glad they eased up for you.

ANY NEWS HERB?????

spottyshoes · 17/01/2009 07:48

MS have you heard from Mrsy recently? Just posted on her wall.

lardybump · 17/01/2009 08:28

morning all. I have not been on for a few days as have been poorly..... I am away tonight as well so will catch up on Sunday. I have MW of Thursday and am going to ask if I can be induced early. She probably wont let me but i am going to try as i am really suffering.

Everyone has said that induction is nasty and hurts like hell but one day of intence pain is better than weeks of pain that I am going through at the moment. I know they wont do it this early as I still have 5 weeks to go but hopefully she will see how bad it is getting and send me for a AN appointment with a docter who will agree...

What do you ladies think will they do it if baby is not in any danger??

MarkStretch · 17/01/2009 09:50

Morning all

Herb- sending cervix vibes]]], hope you're ok this morning.

Spotty, yes heard from MrsY on I think it was Thursday, she's ok, midwife had visited and BP was ok. She's still fed up at having no laptop/internet and feeling nervous about impending labour! Will give her a text soon and check she's alright.

I've had a few crampy period type pains myself this morning but they seem to have eased off now. Turning over in bed is SUCH an effort [whale]

Right, help me out with my dilemma.

Am going to get measured for nursing bras today, do I go to M&S (where they have got my size sooo wrong before but the bras are cheaper) or go to Bravissimo and treat myself to 2 decent ones that won't give me sausage tits but may break the bank?

MarkStretch · 17/01/2009 09:51

Sorry herb that was meant to say CLOSED CERVIX VIBES!

idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 09:56

Lardy, my induction took 5 days and didn't work. It was worse than anything i suffered during pregnancy and I was 2 weeks overdue with hugely swollen body, SPD and high blood pressure and a UTI last time. I don't think they'll offer you an induction so early but would not advise anyone to have one unless their body was showing lots of signs of being ready (already dilated, baby engaged etc). Also 5 weeks early is really too early for baby they don't reccommend a c section until 38/39 weeks now as babies born before this have higher risk of breathing difficulties. Have you got people around who can give you some extra support for the last few weeks?
Sorry you're suffering.

Herb - what's happening???????

LBB - you starting too i wonder??????

The suspense is killing me!

MarkStretch · 17/01/2009 09:57

Actually scrap that idea, just checked my bank balance! [quake]

I think I will go and get measured and then come home and order some from the internet, anyone know any good sites?

idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 09:58

MS - i went to marks on monday and all the bras are awful but i have zero spare cash so i had to buy a 2pack of disusting bras. If you can afford it go to bravissimo, you deserve it!

idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 09:59

disgusting even!
X post, figleaves have a sale on i think?

MrsY · 17/01/2009 10:15

Celebrate: for MrsY is back!!!!

I've missed you all so much!

Apologies for no personals right now, but I can't concentrate enough to read 20-odd pages of posts!

I'm still doing okay - although I'm bricking myself as the growth scan guesstimated her weight at 6lb 4oz on Wednesday, when I was 34 + 3! Could be a biiiiig baby!

Also very upset as I don't think I'll be able to travel all over for Rob's and James' funerals, which I would like to go to (as much as anyone wants to go to a funeral...)

Anyway...hope people are having a nice weekend, and that all babies are behaving themselves...

MrsY · 17/01/2009 10:41

Just updated TBM's name on fb, so I thought I'd do it here, too!

Pempe · 17/01/2009 12:04

spottyshoes - believe me it's nothing like Mamma Mia (not that I've seen the film, but have the musical). We've had the rainiest winter for decades apparently. Plus - you know how there are those horror story programmes about people going on holiday to Greece and having building sites outside their hotel? Well we have that now - it'll be lovely and ready for the tourists, but we have to put up with the diggers and trucks now....

I have just bought two nursing bras from Mothercare, the cheaper option they had. They seem ok, not bravissimo standard but cheap

MrsY - I can relate about the big baby fears - I had a scan last week at 35+2 and the estimate was 7lb3oz. [Gulp emoticon]

PinkTulips · 17/01/2009 12:44

have had a frank discussion with fung fu panda this morning in the shower and we've decided 18th january is a nice date to be born on so will be trying every trick i can think of today to shift his bum outta there..... well, possibly not all the tricks... not sure i'm quite desperate enough to try the BJ thing tbh!

welcome back mrsy.... wow she's a big un how's everything else going, did they ever find the cause of the protein and high bp?

spottyshoes · 17/01/2009 14:02

Lardy - I dont think they would induce before 'term' at 37wks but may be wrong.

MS Dilemma - I would go somewhere where I trust their measuring but then not buy anything and go online and buy bravissimo/similar with online discount and vouchers when I got home

Bugger - was replying msg by msg so just seen that was your idea too!

((((((((MRSY)))))))))) Welcome back.

I am at all these high weights! DS was 6.12 so I was always thinking around 7.7 for this one but I'm going to ask them to check weight next week as am now a bit paranoid!

Pempe - yep, that description well and truely killed my image

PT - Stoooooooop! Step away from the penis! (not that you were near it) MW at our active birth class had just finished reading papers on how the sperm theory had been disproven and didn't work afterall. No point wasting a good BJ now is there, wait until after the birth when you want to max the card out on new clothes (aka herb's 'breastfeeding solutions')

and I think the 20th is a great day

Pempe · 17/01/2009 14:10

Oh my god I have never ever heard the BJ theory before....I am DEFINITELY not mentioning that to my DH.

spottyshoes · 17/01/2009 14:11
Grin
idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 14:16

dd was 8lb 15oz but they estimated 10lb at the term +10 scan so i am taking all scan readings with a pinch of salt.

No way is dh getting any bj before i can enjoy sex again myself that's for sure!

idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 14:17

hey mrsY, good to see you. Sorry about the funerals

idontbelieveit · 17/01/2009 14:19

MrsY - i facebooked you about the birth pool, really sorry not to have got back to0 you sooner.

PinkTulips · 17/01/2009 14:38

lol.... i made the mistake when i didn't think we'd be having any more kids of divulging the BJ thing to dp..... he can't remember how to spell my full name or the ATM codes but that snippet of information seems to have logged itself firmly into his brain.... funny that

will have to break his little heart and tell him it's a load of spunk shite now

bless him though, he's given me 3 massages of over an hour long this week in the hopes of getting me in the mood pmsl

funnily enough spotty, the 20th is the first date of aquarius and dd is aquarius so i have a hunch kung fu panda will share her sign so my tricks probably won't work. my dad has me terrified though, i had dd the day before his dad's birthday and ds the day after his birthday and my due date this time is a few days before his mothers birthday so he's convinced i'll go over and match up with that too...

are ye having the storm over there too? all our fense panals are flying around and we've been having horizontal rain for hours now.
