She told me if I have any more wories or something happens or I want a cry and a chat, to call the clinic and leave a message for her, she has left a note with the reception staff that I am to be put through if she is there or a message passed on, so that's nice. I told her if I had my way I'd be in labour within the hour anyway!!

spottyshoes · 16/01/2009 17:54

Ok, another qu re baby equipment which has been done before. What tandem pushchairs have you gone for? I want one that fits a car seat too like the Graco stadium duo but I think it may be a little big for my car.

Pempe · 16/01/2009 17:56

This is me added on then.

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 18:00

spotty We have bought a tandem pushchair, but not one that holds the car seat because I don't like putting my baby in them other than when we in car. Obviously. We managed pewrfectly well with transporting ds in and out of car without waking him.
The phil and teds holds the car seat, they fold up pretty small I think.....

herbgarden · 16/01/2009 18:18

Welcome Pempe.....we're all quite friendly in here so come on in.

Spotting seems to have subside a bit but TMI alert - when I wipe I still seem to be getting a very faint colouring on the tissue. I've also had a bit more cramping this pm when I sit down but I'm going to just see how it goes. I'm generally uncomfortable really !

On the tandem buggies, I've "acquired" a Phil & Teds tonight from my brother and sil and a friend has a spare cocoon which her DS2 has now grown out of. My DS is 2.5 and I wasn't going to buy a double/tandem buggy but now I have one I'm sure I'll use it. DS is the sort who, if no 2 is sitting in "his" buggy, he'll want to get in and will be difficult about not doing. I'm going to take him out in his "new buggy" over the weekend so he can get used to it. As I'm having a CS too, I need something which I can get on the bus and I think the P&T tandem is easier than a side by side. DS walked a lot round town today but he wanted to get in the buggy at the end so he does get tired sometimes.

LBB glad you have finally found someone sympathetic who has listened to you.

Heartburn is dreadful tonight (blimey I have it all tonight don't I !?) so don't fancy a take away and have nothing out the freezer....what are we going to eat?????

swampster · 16/01/2009 18:19

Spotty, Edina said in Ab Fab, "You can never have too many shoes, gloves and hats." I say to you now, "You can never have too many nappies, wraps or slings." (I think you can have too many buggies but I still love my Phil and Ted's - that and a Maclaren Techno with a sling for bus journeys etc.)

I have:

A Baby Bjorn, great for out and about,

Two ring slings - enjoyed using them round the house when Velcro-boy AKA DS1 was little, and later out and about with two small boys coupled with the Maclaren,

Toddler Patapum for emergencies when they were bigger and I couldn't manage a ring-sling any more,

Had a Wilkinet but never got on with it so passed it on,

Will be getting a Moby wrap (as a pressie from my sister -YAY!) cause they look so comfy.

DS2 was NOT a sling baby though and was only ever in them under severe duress. DS1 LOVED slings.

Later on, I really fancy a Bushbaby Elite for all the hiking I am sure to be doing!

idontbelieveit · 16/01/2009 18:29

have a lovely moby wrap from my mum, it's comfy with dd's dolls. i have a pouch sling from last time which dh loved but i never felt entirely comfortable with and also a beco carrier which i loved but is no good for a newborn although still use it with dd.
Herb - sounds like things might be getting going for you? Spotting and heartburn are surely early signs? Hoep it calms down.
I am eating curry this evening from our lovely curry house. As spicy as i can bear, maybe that will get the blighter spinning!
LBB - glad you got someone understanding at last.

Pempe - welcome

herbgarden · 16/01/2009 18:33

I really hope no IDBI I am so not ready (mentally) - although am much more ready than before on the "stuff" front.....DS was 3 weeks early hence my nervousness...

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 18:37

What do you mean, you're not mentally ready? Nut-case
What can we say to get you in that place? You're having a baby herb, maybe soon. Did that work?

Pempe · 16/01/2009 18:37

'quite' friendly in here?!?! Should I be scared? I was just browsing MN and looking for people in a similar position to me i.e. hugely uncomfortable, suffering from BH, with labourdread (first child), heartburn, backache etc etc etc

To set the scene and introduce myself - I'm out here in Greece, no previous experience of the healthcare system here (I have my concerns), due 14th Feb, but visiting gyno on 26th Jan and fully expecting them to suggest induction/CS. Life in Greece is great, has its challenges, but Radio 4 via internet is my lifesaver - Friday night comedy anybody?

Currently trying to get in a position comfortable for me, and the baby and aiding digestion of dinner.

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 18:41

Hehe Pempe.
As you've been browsing looking for people in similar position to yourself, glad you found us! think we are all very uncomfortable, everyone has lots of aches and pains atm. I hate this part.
I've given up on trying to get in a comfortable position now, part of me wants to find a position that is so uncomfortable for the baby that it forces him out!

chilledmama · 16/01/2009 18:46

evening all. Its taken me the last hour to catch up and that was just skimming!!

MW unable to confirm presentation of bambino yesterday so scan it is to confirm one way or other.

Can't remember who was asking about breech...midirs have a new booklet out about breech...breech choices
It talks about ECV and moxibustion as the best ways of getting baby to move. You can buy moxibustion candles yourself and do it on your own (probably best with help from another). Can't see you have anything to lose from trying it!

OP posts:
KT1983 · 16/01/2009 18:51

Evenin Ladies!!
Im back in the land of Broardband....
Move went well, were all settled into our new house & its lovely. Decorated the nursery last few days - All done in Candy stripes...very girly, very pretty!! Were all set for the off now, just need the little lady to make an appearance.

Had another growth scan last week, she is approx 5 lbs now, so she is doing well, just need her to continue growing. Next scan is at 38 weeks, unless she appears before then
The sonographer said she is very low now - Not sure what that means...Just in launch position I guess.

The scan was very cute, the baby was licking my placenta

Anyway, enough from me, How are you all? No more new arivals?

I trust TBM and the little one are doing well?

Off to check all my emails now - Catch up soon xx

littleboyblue · 16/01/2009 18:53

Welcome back KT Glad move went well.

dinkystinky · 16/01/2009 19:22

Welcome Pempe (all that talk of Greece has now made me crave Kleftiko - will try to make it in slow cooker tomorrow if craving still there!) and welcome back KT - glad move went well and sounds like your little cutie is growing nicely. 5lbs at this stage is a perfectly respectable size! LBB - hurrah for a good midwife at long last!

Spotty - wow, hope you got on well with your all day guests - definitely a take away tonight for you and also for Pinktulips... Re carriers: I had a baby bjorn with DS which he loved being in (and DH loved wearing as v sporty looking). Got one with integrated back support. I liked wearing it and used it till just after DS was 1 but was anal about ensuring had it on right and DS positioned right (so never got bad back). The only downside - as I have a ridiculously short body - is that I couldnt comfortably sit down with DS in it - so this time round have also invested in a close baby carrier (which apparently is a good intro to soft carrier slings for sling version like me) where you have the option of lots of different positions for bubs (so in theory at least I will be able to go to the look with No2 in the sling without having to adopt undignified semi squat and pray position). However have only tried it out with a succession of teddy bears and stuffed toys to date (who all seemed to like it) so no idea if DS2 and I will get on well with it in practice....

idontbelieveit · 16/01/2009 19:22

hey KT welcome back. dd was estimated 6lb10 on thursday (37 weeks) so i'm dreading how big she'll get if things so overdue (that's very unlikely though).
Chilledmama - I might get some moxibustion candle things tomorrow, nothing to lose if they're cheapish!

dinkystinky · 16/01/2009 19:27

Herbgarden - meant to say, glad things seem to be slowing down; keep taking it as easy as possible (if you cant sit down, lie down and see if cramping stops or lightens up). Huge sympathies on the heartburn - would avoid greasy takeaways but something nice and non-greasy might help (chargrilled chicken or something like that?). Hope it dies down soon for you.

Chilled - sorry your little one is being so uncooperative! Hope the scan shows they're the right way up...

MarkStretch · 16/01/2009 19:28

Welcome pempe and welcome back KT!

Herb I read your message and screamed and started clapping at the screen so now my whole household knows what is happening in your fanjo.

Spotty, friend is having the same dilemma at the mo, have seen this one which can have a car seat for baby this one and this one

PinkTulips · 16/01/2009 19:33

lbb that made me laugh out loud

totally get where you're coming from though, if i could squeeze this baby out by sheer force of will i would.... i simply cannot stand the end stages of pregnancy.

i'm useless to the point of not being able to get my shoes on, the kids are living on juice boxes, dried fruit and nick jr, i spend more time groaning than speaking in english, i haven't been comfortable in any position be it sitting, standing or lying in months now, i'm constantly hungry but get acid reflux if i eat more than a few bites and on top of all that kung fu panda seems determined to break his way out through sheer force rather than waiting for things to happen naturally!

welcome back KT.... 5lbs is great considering your earlier worries about birthweight, and she'll keep gaining til birth! glad the move went smoothly for ye.

low down is good but doesn't mean much.... kung fu panda has had his whole head buried deep into my pelvis for weeks and it doesn't seem to have made him any more inclined to shift his bum and be born, just makes me walk like a cowboy

dinkystinky · 16/01/2009 20:31

Hey Pink -at least your kids are getting their daily portions of fruit

dinkystinky · 16/01/2009 20:36

Spotty, One of my mates has a twin maclaren which she's not a huge fan of (cant take it on buses, not great in shops but nice having the kids side by side so she can tend to them both at the same time)- others have gone for the Phil and Teds which they love (though they complain it is quite heavy compared to their singleton buggies - apparently that's an issue with all of them though). One other has gone for a Mountain buggy for 2 which she likes but she does lots of long walks/hikes etc with the 2 kids...

herbgarden · 16/01/2009 20:47

MS don't encourage this baby to come out PLLLLEEEEEEASE. I've been lying here on the sofa and am getting tightenings again at the base of my bump. What is going on ???!!! (do you detect faint hysteria here) At least it's the weekend so DH is around. It's all a bit weird for me as last time I never went into labour properly - I was eventually induced with epidural 2 days after waters broke but failed to dilate after 14 hours (hence the c-section) - so I'm in the dark a bit as to how it all starts pain wise. They told me to go in early if labour does start but how will I know ??? When it happens it feels like waves of uncomfortable period pain but there is no set pattern.....I'll keep you posted !

dinkystinky · 16/01/2009 20:54

Herbgarden - if you're worried, give your midwife/labour ward a call and explain the situation. Hopefully they'll be able to put your mind to rest or get you in for monitoring to see if anything is happening...

spottyshoes · 16/01/2009 20:54

Good slogan swampy - Good job as I am overflowing with wraps. Had enough newborn already but have just bought 12 more in different patterns Have a funny feeling I will collect slings in the same way.

The Moby wrap looks like it gets the thumbs up from most people so I think I'll go for that - Thanks everyone who shared and posted here and the other thread. Funnily Dinky I have a rather short body and couldn't sit down either, wonder if that's why I couldn't get on with it

Thanks for the links MS but at the £600 Argos one! I couldn't justify paying that for a buggy that may only be used for a few months. I like your friend's style though Herb and LBB - I wish I could 'acquire' a Phil and Teds!! Very lucky.

Pempe, I'm afraid you're not going to get sympathy from me being uncomfortable as I have a mental image of you being all serene in a gorgeous hot location somewhere on the set of Mama Mia My Aunt used to live in Corfu and had my cousin out there many years ago, even back then she had no complaints about the health system so hope it's still the same for you.

Welcome back to the world of the t'internet KT. Glad the move went well.
