Morning . MOS.... a lie in is one of those things that you had over a decade ago. It felt quite nice at the time, but you didn't fully appreciate it lie in = distant memory/future dream .

Dinky - chuck us some of your Cherry Garcia - it's my favourite ( More of a frozen health food than an ice cream don't you know.)

LBB- you have had some sound advice here re the Strep B, as others have said you are probably now at less risk, because you know and they are going to treat it. Big hugs though...these things can be worrying.

Herb - I always think the manual BP machines are less reliable too. The electric one I've got at home is so variable. Hope DS helps lower your blood pressure today

It really does feel like we are entering the final furlong now. Lots of people going on Maternity leave and having pre-ops and doign their birth plans etc.

I went to a training day yesterday 2 hours from home and breathed a sign of relief when I got back still in one piece. Have now set myself a 10 minute radius from home for the next few weeks.

Who's going to be next ? Even though I'm next on the list I don't think it will be me.

dinkystinky · 15/01/2009 08:56

Big scoop of Cherry Garcia coming in your direction Laidback (after all, its yoghurt so surely must be ok to have for breakfast )....

laidbackinengland · 15/01/2009 08:59

Merci Dinky !

I have looked in my wardrobe this morning and realised that I have hardly any clothes suitable for breast feeding. This is mainly because I wear a lot of tunics/dresses over jeans and the thought of having to hoist up or down is not an attractive one . Am going to invest some time today looking for something !! (I will sell this to myself as not spending money on clothes, but creating breastfeeding solutions !!)

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 09:39

Morning all! Had another reasonable nights sleep last night and have the morning to myself so of for a lingering bath in a mo.

Justme DD was born on Valentines Day and she loves it! Valentines Day has never been the same for DH and me since though

Oooh Ben and Jerrys - I gorged on that when pg with DD. I have purposely not bought any this time as I swear I could probably eat a whole tub in one go

Right the bath beckons! Seeing the midwife today (after 7 weeks). Having lots of fast pulse episodes - anyone get this. Makes me feel weird, will see what she has to say!

Have a good day everyone!

rosieposey · 15/01/2009 09:44

Morning

Am a member of the crap sleeping club, keep having not only weird dreams but horrid ones too, also woke up at 3.30 for a wee and couldnt get back to sleep for an hour ( lo was giving me plenty of pokes ) then started stressing about the c section ect ect so think i might have to squeeze a nap in sometime today. Think that most of us are having trouble sleeping now, ive heard people say that they actually prefer when they have their baby as their quality of sleep improves even if it is in smaller chunks - im thinking that i subscribe to that!

Yummy, frozen yogurt! Really could go for that in a big way today, will pay S/burys a visit i think. Have been up watching discovery home and health and the baby shows - god they always make me cry! I love that moment when the babies are born and just will spend the morning sniffling. Would get up off my arse and do some housework but combined with feeling absolutely knackered i have to wait near the door for the UPS man who is bringing DH's birthday pressie ( its his birthday on Monday ) just in case i dont hear the bell i didnt yesterday and thats my excuse so im sticking to it so a morning on my arse will do just fine

Dinky dont work too hard!

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 09:46

Lol Rosie - I remember watching those programmes when pg with DD. Haven't got Sky now so I am sat here watching Come Dine with Me!!! What have you bought your DH, I also find buying for DH so difficult!

MarkStretch · 15/01/2009 09:57

McDreamy (at the risk of sounding like I have had everything wrong with me during this pregnancy) I had those too! My Dr was really good and did an ECG and checked me out and put it down to the extra pressure on your heart during pregnancy and the fact I had been stressing about it when it happened. Have they checked your iron levels recently? If your iron is a bit low that can also cause it, they gave me some pregaday to take which seemed to help.

DH got up and did the school run today and I laid in bed in fact I am still not showered or dressed! I am going to send him to Sainsbury's for supplies later and then spend the day cooking for the freezer I think, once I have changed all the beds.

Ooooh, it's breakfast time. I fancy scrambled eggs this morning....

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 10:02

MS I will chat to her about it today, maybe she'll check my blood again today. I had SVTs last time with DS (v fast irregular pulse) but this is def just a fast regular pulse so maybe more likely to be anaemia. It does my head though!!

Oooh scrambled eggs - mmmm!

rosieposey · 15/01/2009 10:05

Lol there is usually only two ways to go when it comes to pressies for DH hes quite easy really Either something really gadgety ( it doesnt matter if its useless ) or something skateboard related i.e. a new board or skate shoes ( bloody expensive though ) so i bought him some really unusual skate shoes from the States, two pairs no less I put a recent photo of DH on my profile skateboarding as im v proud of him, hes good! I love that he is such a fanatic, he has been since he was 13 and its alot more interesting to watch than footie! He judges lots of competitions and stuff so i think hes quite glad hes having a boy as i can imagine that he will be on a board by the time hes two Also bought him some Derren Brown tickets for Reading in May and will get the new Skate game for xbox when it comes out next week - lucky sod hes getting spoilt!
Its my birthday on the 31st and i dont know what i want why is it when you are pregnant that you dont spend much on yourself i honestly would rather buy something for the baby, might just ask for a delay on the pressie front and have a bit of a spree on some new clothes when lo is 2 or 3 months old as lovely new spring stuff in shops then

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 10:09

Oh Rosie I feel the same way. My birthday is the same day the baby is due and I would much rather have stuff for the baby than me. My brother asked me what I wanted and I have asked for this!!!! I just can't think of anything for me. Maybe delaying birthday presents is a good idea although DH has offered to buy me some Duo Boots but not until my legs are less swollen!

rosieposey · 15/01/2009 10:20

Aww how cute is that swaddle pod! I was planning on swaddling this one as i did my last two and im sure it helped with sleeping i just used a large cot sheet though. Have seen some swaddle wrappy type things but might stick with my old tried and tested method with the sheet - not sure yet. I have got some lovely stuff anyway and DH got me a gorgeous Chloe bag for Christmas that i wanted so tbh i really dont need anything and have everything i need for lo.

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 10:21

if one more person asks me 'how long to go now, you must be getting close?' i'm going to scream... i love village life i really do but fgs people are stopping their cars on the street to ask me whan i'm going to push this baby out

IF I HAD A CHOICE DO THEY THINK I'D STILL BE WADDLING AROUND LIKE THIS!!!!!

will somebody please give me a kick up the arse to go clean my house? it's filthy and i can't have this baby til it's clean and shiny... or at least clean enough that the PHN won't report me to social services!

lardy... 14 days is it just a normal support belt? because i have one here that i can't stand wearing (like spotty i tried it once and it's been dumped since) i could post it to you if you wanted?

nkweto · 15/01/2009 10:35

Hi all,

Been lurking but havent managed to post... literally crawling towards maternity leave now, finish tomorrow and I cannot wait !

I hope to come to the meet up on Monday, but will have to see how I feel, as I am exhausted. Been waking up at 3am and getting back to sleep somewhere around 5 and then alarm goes at 6.15 !

((((lbb)))) and ((((mamagoose)))), I hope you are both feeling better now and lbb, you will be fine, because the medical staff know and can look after you appropriately...

laidback, I am pretty high up the list, but suspect the ladies with the Elective CS's on the 2nd will beat me to it !

herbgarden, I have found myself being short with DS and he does play up at the moment as well.. don't worry it is just a stage (for both of us at least). I feel a bit guilty that I am not able to take him to the park as much as I used to...

Dinky, sounds like you have loads of energy at the moment, I am really impressed

My birthplan is very light at the moment, and a bit opposite to the ones I have seen here/ on fb..

basically it is:

  • try birthcentre with G&A (NO pethidine)
  • if failure to progress like last time, then try for a bit, but if no progress take me to delivery room, give me epidural and drip to move things along
  • do not let me go over 45 mins in stage 3 (was pushing for 1 1/2 hours last time and they didnt realise DS was in distress and had to resusitate)
  • if any sign baby is stuck feel free to use ventose/forcepts/epi to get baby out..

Am I being to intervention focused, should I try harder to stay at the birth centre ?

..I know I have missed out lots of other conversations.. sorry, can't keep up

america · 15/01/2009 10:56

Uh, I've been trying to clean my desk at work and seem to have completely lost the plot here. One more week to go and then I'm on maternity leave too. Commuting is killing me!

So sorry to hear about all the more serious health probs, LBB and others, I promise to stop moaning about ligament pain and other mild stuff from now on.

Did anybody else decide to try for a VBAC? I think I'm giving it a try although petrified... And your EDDs are getting so close now. I still have another five weeks to go.

Herbgarden, I swore never to encourage DS1 to watch tele but lately he has spent way to much time in front of the "in the night garden". He's absolutely hooked and that makes me feel guilty but at least I get to nap from time to time...

MarkStretch · 15/01/2009 10:57

McDreamy that is SO cute!

dinkystinky · 15/01/2009 11:09

Nkweto - the end is in sight for you now; hang on in there! Failure to progress (may want to define what that means to you as may be different to a medical definition) can be caused by lots of different things (e.g. change in atmosphere/scene putting hormones out of balance etc) so maybe before suggesting drip etc, you might suggest that the midwife gives you some suggestions (e.g. changing position, having walk around, lunges - if you're that way inclined etc - or just some rest in peace and quiet) to see if that helps start a stalled labour again. You could also suggest trying water in the birth centre to labour in if you wanted to (shower, bath or pool - the choice is yours) as may distract you abit too. Otherwise your birth plan looks fine and am sure will make you feel happiest that you know what to expect if certain things happen/dont happen.

Ooh Rosie - I have the perfect present in mind for you : a lovely pregnancy massage on your birthday! Will make you feel wonderful (especially as we're all at the stage where we feel hu(ge)mongous!) Honestly can not recommend them highly enough, especially when sleep deprived. Maybe research into where you can get them in your area and then drop not so subtle hints to DP (who should book you in for a particular time to ensure you get it on your birthday). I never buy them for myself but always ask for vouchers etc for them for presents if people are stuck when I'm pregnant as feels like such a total luxury...

Pink - sorry your village is currently full of idiots! Am sure the baby wont care if the house is clean or dirty (and all that tidying may kick off your back/pelvic pain) so I suggest you sit down and eat cake instead for a bit - maybe then you'll have energy to do a little light cleaning...

Markstretch - sounds like your DH is being an absolute star! Most impressed.

Justme - I work with about 5 people in my department alone who have their birthday on Valentine's day. Have always thought it must be a nice day to have a birthday on - you're always guaranteed to get lots of cards!!

Calico1 · 15/01/2009 11:12

Hi all

LLB - so sorry to hear you are stressed about the strep B - can't offer any advice but as the others have said it is good to know now and they will deal with it as part of your normal care during delivery.

McDreamy - I take it all back about Stoke Mandeville - just back from appointment and it was a shambles......supposed to be seeing consultant anaesthetist about whether or not an epidural or spinal are possible should I need them. The idea being that I can then make a decision about elective section or normal delivery. Basically I had just been booked into a normal antenatal appointment and they had no idea about all the things I needed to discuss regarding back problems. The registrar was patronising and told me to go away and not to worry about it and that second babies were easier anyway.......started telling me about how easy his wife's second delivery was. I had to interrupt and ask whether she had slipped a disc during labour first time around as otherwise it isn't really relevant! They then suggested that they could get an anaesthetist to see me when I came back in labour.....a bit late then I think. Eventually they made another appointment for me but when I asked when it would be I realised that I would be 43 weeks pregnant by then! Arrrrggggghhh

I hope you have better luck next week. Tbh this is the first time I have been messed around - they have been excellent there to date so I guess it is just one of those glitches.

Sorry for rant but I had hoped to come away today with an informed decision....

spottyshoes · 15/01/2009 11:18

LOL @ LB's 'breastfeeding solutions'!

I got my Dinky's mixed up too! Yay for DM not so yay for DS

MOS Lie in?? I would love one. I have been on Annual Leave since Xmas eve as my ML doesn't start until 15th Feb but have I had one yet? HELL NO. When DH is on AL he swans around doing whatever he wants - as long as it's after 10am

It's my birthday on Tuesday and I want things for me!!! Dh is getting me a TV for the bedroom. Sounds generous but ours is broken and we were going to get one anyway in the post Xmas sales

Birth plan is similar in length to mine nkweto - I think I have 6 bullet points!

Been to the MW this morning and she thinks l.o is head down but has booked me in for a scan at my consultant appt in 2 wks so looks like if s/he stays there a VBAC is on the cards - yay! So America I'm hoping to try for one now!

Bugger DH has just come home - He always happens to have 'a job' in the neighbourhood and always catches me on MN Honestly it looks like I never do a thing!

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 11:31

lol spottyshoes have just this minute sent DH a text to ask him if he will be home for lunch - dictates how much housework I need to get done!

for you calico that sounds like a right waste of time! Last time I went I was a bit peeved as I sat there for 2 hours expecting to make a date for my section only to be asked "why have you come to see us today?" - "er because you sent me an appointment, I thought we were booking section date", response was "Oh we don't do that until 35/36 weeks come back in 6 weeks!!!!" Great, what a waste of a morning!!!!!!!!

Hoping Monday will be more productive!

Calico1 · 15/01/2009 11:41

McDreamy - oh dear, let's hope they know what you're there for on Monday.

Spottyshoes - I know what you mean. I do a massive tidy up 5 mins before DH arrives home and then I sit down and try to look weary as if I have spent all day doing chores rather than being on MN!

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 11:47

Dh just walked in - luckily I was emptying the dishwasher!!!

herbgarden · 15/01/2009 12:14

DH always catches me on the computer when he gets in and seems to think there's a magic fairy who gets his clean clothes and cooks supper

Just taken DS to our local leisure centre for a soft play session and it was shut - he always looks so crestfallen when that happens. I chucked his scooter in the car and we went for a quick whizz round our park - it was freeezing but at least we all got some fresh air. He's now emptying sticker pages over everything in sight beside me as I'm on MN.....

My mum is coming to look after him this pm so I can go and get my highlights done (hark at me lady muck) and at least they're done then for another couple of months (I've got BIG roots at the moment) although I'm not looking forward to sitting in that chair for a couple of hours as I get a bit uncomfortable in thatan upright position- do you think they'd let me lie in a massage chair by the basins while they do it ?!.

DH away tonight so I get to watch what I want on the telly and then can have a nice early night. Bliss.

spottyshoes · 15/01/2009 12:23

Good he's gone again! I think I need to get a timetable from him daily so that I know exactly which are the 5 mins before he walks in!!! and can be emptying the dishwasher too

Enjoy the hairdo Herb. I've mine on Monday and hate it as i'm in there for about 4 hours. Might have it all cut off

McDreamy · 15/01/2009 13:47

Lol DH also gone back to work......Ds watching cbeebies. Now do I do the ironing or mumsnetting?

justme85 · 15/01/2009 13:52

I know i'm not due til the 14th but I am having my waxing done today as I can't cope with spending an hr plus trying to reach. Knowing me i'll have another 6 wks before baby shows but if I didn't have it for another few wks I could garuntee he'd come early. Hair do next week, time to start feeling like a human being again I think, I've been whinging so much about the pains and not being ready I need to destress. Not looking forward to the pain of the waxing tho, think I might chicken out of the brazilian and stick to a normal bikini and full leg (I have no idea how she's going to do the backs esp with my pelvis probs so perhaps i'll have half a leg too.) Enjoy your hair herbgarden. xx
