flyn- mama;s & papa's have a good sale on prams - check it out I hope it is still on!

MrsMcJnr · 11/02/2009 21:50

Thanks Choccie the meeting about the company?s fate is tomorrow morning so at least by this time tomorrow we won?t be in limbo any more.

Ermintrude ? I have a Baby Bjorn sling, it was my sister?s. DS didn?t like it at all though it was by far the easier of all my slings to use! Hopefully his sister might like it better. I have a ring sling thing too, it was a gift without instructions, and I haven?t got a clue how to use it. Maybe I should put a post somewhere on MN asking how. The other one I have is a Kari Me. It is complicated and takes so long to set up, I guess if you used it a lot you?d learn to do it quicker but I lost patience.

Ineedmore ? thanks hope you sleep well after your class

Flynn ? no worries my sister?s M&P pram was a disaster broke after 8 months. It was a Pilko I think.

Juicy ? thanks hon , I can?t exist without my morning cuppa either. Dr told me last time that I could double my aspirin dose (I am on it to thin my blood) but I tried that on Sat and was sick within seconds. Sorry to hear about the clash, you must have been gutted when you found out. Hope you manage to sell the TT tickets try selling them on MN! Enjoy the meet up

daisy5 · 12/02/2009 07:22

mrsmcjnr - am only on here for a fleeting moment, but just wanted to say that I am thinking of you and hoping the company finds a way forward today. All my positive thoughts going your way today and big hugs.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 12/02/2009 09:00

Good luck today MrsMcJnr. I hope you get the news you want xx

flynn1984 · 12/02/2009 09:48

Good luck today mrsmcjnr I hope everything works out alright, will be thinking of you and your DH today x

bunnymother · 12/02/2009 09:50

Juicygirlpink ? thank you so much for looking for the discount code! I will use it to buy my tickets in advance. I am hoping Friday will be less busy than the weekend and can bring lots of samples home to show DH. We are also going to get the Maxi Cosi, I think, as its the brand that fits to the Phil & Ted?s Sport, which is my Pram of the Week due to ?add on? extra chair. Hopefully the London show will have some specials.

I had a look at Blooming Marvellous and they have some great specials. Also, if you can bring yourself to go real life shopping, Zara has some amazing bargains on their babywear. So I bought lots!

I do live in North London, but only as far north as Islington. Bummer about the double booking and good luck selling the tickets.

Daisy5 ? thanks for tip on avoiding TWO LEFT FEET. I did see from MN that they are to be avoided at all cost, along with Bambino Direct. Kiddiecare looks to me like it will be a good option...

MrsMcJnr ? sorry to hear about all this uncertainty. V stressful, although sounds like you are very stoic about it. I hope you find out v soon, and that it all works out well. Re the babygros from Boots, can you order them online? I couldn?t see them. Zara do little body suits (as opposed to sleep suits) that fasten up the body (rather than pullover) and I am keen to look at what Boots do.

Flynn1984 ? am also v excited about playing w our little daughter in a few years time. DH has mentally signed her up for mountain bike riding and hockey! He is in for such a disappointment re her and sport if she turns out like me! Like you, I choose/order things, then wonder whether it was the best choice. Am a perennial ?returner? of items.

Ineedmore ? love the recipe for lemon cake ? thank you! I?ll just bet it went down a treat. Great to have easy, delish recipes like that handy.

Tee - hope you slept well and feel good today.

Am now off for a bikini wax, to try and restore myself back to who I was!

chocciedooby · 12/02/2009 10:43

Good Morning everyone.
Tee hope you got some rest and are feeling better today
Mrsmcjnr good luck with the company today.Really hope that things work out ok for you all.
Flynn I know what you mean about the whole pushchair thing. There is so much out there to choose from these days that it all becomes a bit confusing.Don't know anything about the Silvercross so can't help you there I'm afraid. I had a Pliko Mamas and paps the first time around and I loved it, it was nice and light etc but it did break twice and had to be sent back to the UK for repair. It was always a little difficult to fold and in the end it got damaged again and we threw it out. Saying all of that - things have moved on a lot in the last 5 years and some of their new equipment looks a lot stronger. Sorry if have confused you even more .

ineedmore have got the lemon cake ingredients and will be baking it for the school cake fair tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works out as good as your did

juicy hope you sell your tickets. Lucky you having such a great social life!

chocciedooby · 12/02/2009 10:48

I have crawled back into bed this morning. Had awful nights sleep (3 hours max) due to having an extremely dry mouth from my awful head cold. I just couldn't breath through my nose so the mouth suffered.
This is my 3rd cold since I fell pg. These little buds really do extract a lot of goodness from us don't they .

daisy5 · 12/02/2009 11:18

bunnymother - we bought all our things from Lullaby's and were very impressed with them. They were completely on the ball with the whole order. They usually offer discounts on larger purchases if you ask www.lullabys.co.uk. Thanks for Zara tip off - some of the nicest items of clothing I bought for DD were from there. I lovely white cotton hooded sweater, beautifully tailored pale pink jeans, lovely little tops - all bought on sale, all for low prices.

Our new Bugaboo covers arrived in electric blue - I suggested we hold on to the pink ones we have until it is born - just in case and DP gave me the - he has more faith in medicine than me.

Oh choccie - you sound in a grim way. Can you go back to bed and put your favourite movie on?

Which reminds me, I remember one friend, with three children told me that with the first one, she was determined to keep her life going, she was out to dinner with dh two weeks after the birth, met me for coffee with baby in tow week 3, and generally kept a very busy life. She said by the time she had number three, she had resigned herself to just enjoying having a new baby and being totally relaxed. She said she got all the movies she had always wanted to watch out before the birth, and spent the first two months mostly in her pj's chilling with baby in bed and around the house reading books, watching movies and playing with her newborn! It sounds quite appealing doesn't it. I am hoping for a gorgeous summer though and just want to spend as much time in the garden.

Still thinking of you mrsmcjnr

June2009 · 12/02/2009 12:48

daisy You just reminded me that summer is usually quite nice at work, not so busy.

Juicy I'm in North London (Enfield/Southgate) and iirc sweetbrody is in Barnet, where abouts are you?

Today I put on some over the bump maternity jeans which are comfy and look good if I stand still but end up falling as soon as I start walking, does that get better once your bump gets bigger or are they just too big?? (Just checked and they're a size 18, I was a 14 before pregnancy but I couldn't fit in the 14 maternity jeans when I tried them on, my under the bump are a 16).

Did you guys also go up a size in clothes or do you fit in your regular size (maternity clothes) iyswim?

My doppler came this morning and found the heartbeat really quick! Dh will be so pleased when he gets back.

Bunny I had a wax the other day and I felt really good after that, much more feminine!!

Juicygirlpink · 12/02/2009 12:58

Just a quicky before I rush out

June & Bunny- I am in Crouch end

maybe we could sort something mutually convienient?

I will write more later

Tee2072 · 12/02/2009 13:03

june mine have been fitting better and better every day! So it does get better! I bought one size up as I couldn't get into the 14s!

Thanks for the well wishes all. I had a lousy nights sleep and made it into work for a half day. I'm home now, about to have some food and then its off to bed for this fat lady!

mrsmcJnr good luck today!

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 13:15

june I'm still in 12s, my pre-preg size, for over or under bump jeans. Maybe some styles are tighter; all mine are just bootcut so not baggy at the top. I'd be surpised if you needed 2 sizes up. I think my thighs are def larger than usual, but assume the jean shape been built to take that into account - I keep thinking that as long as these fit me till the end I won't have too much weight to lose other than the - increasingly enormous! - bump.

I did find that the over-bump ones that are just a big tube of stretch material do fall down easily - although as Tee says, they fit better the bigger you get out front - but the ones which have a good fastening at the top of the bump are very comfy and stay up nicely.

btw, you North London girls, I gave birth to DD at Edgeware birth centre and it was absolutely brilliant. It was a great halfway house between a home birth - which I wasn't confident about first time around - and a hospital birth which I wanted to avoid. That was ten years ago but I think it's still going.

bigcar · 12/02/2009 13:21

Afternoon all!

Tee and choccie, hope you both feel better after a good rest!

MrsMcJnr, have everything crossed for you, hope it all works out.

June, i'm wearing my normal size in maternity clothes, but my over the bump jeans are still falling down!

Anyone else starting to get stretch marks yet? Doesn't seem to matter how much cream I use, I always get them

flynn1984 · 12/02/2009 13:54

June I bought jeans in my pre-pregnancy size of 16 over the bump ones as the one the bump/under the bump ones just fell down on me. I got a pair from next last week and they are baggy but very comfy!

bigcar I started getting stretch marks at 17 weeks I had stretch marks already as my weight yo-yo'd when I was younger (and still does) no atter how much cream and bio-oil I use the appearance doesn't seem to fade and they are now stretching up my belly, I am also showing more out the front that wide iykwim

Has anyone else started getting marks? I have been very self conscience about these marke

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 14:19

I only got stretch marks with DC2 - just two little ones, right at the bottom of my belly in the very last week - and he was 10 days late so I really thought I'd got away with it! I couldn't even see them - DH said, ooh, there are two red marks under the bump, what are they?

Creams and oils won't work because the stretching happens right underneath the skin and whether or not you get them is just sod's law. They do fade to silver over time. I've given up bikinis anyway

I'm hoping to avoid more - my pre-preg weight was one stone more this time so there's a bit more slack to take up

chocciedooby · 12/02/2009 14:30

Just my old stretch marks becoming more visible really. Only got them under the tummy button so felt quite lucky with that.

I have various different maternity jeans and they are all falling down and taking my pants with them!

Bigcar I got some rest. Didn't manage to fall asleep until 30 minutres before alarm went off for me to collect kids from school. Oh well. Better than nothing.

mica23 · 12/02/2009 15:30

hi all.over the bump jeans falling down here too.. by the way we found out last week that we are having another girl!!was firs a bit dissapointed but am over the moon now!!we are in north london too; stoke newington.
heard that stretch marks are genetic.im still using cream and my bump seems fine so far but got strech marks on my tighs!grrr!love to all bumps..x

LittleSarah · 12/02/2009 16:16

Hey

I didn't get stretch marks last time and none so far this time but I did get growth stretch marks on hips and thighs as a teenager so I was quite surprised to avoid them!

My maternity jeans are over the bump stretchy and they do kind of slip down to sit under the bump at the moment. I's prefer to wear skirts or leggings all the time at the mo!

What do people do about tights? I don't remember from last time but mine are getting a bit tight round the middle now and I tend to just push them down a little...

June2009 · 12/02/2009 16:23

On the subject of stretch marks, I got really bad ugly red ones a few years back when my weight shooted up really quick and they turned silver, almost not visible so this time round that my belly is getting bigger its just these ones sort of stretching back, not red or new ones (yet?) though which is nice.

I'm gonna attempt going to supermarket with my falling down pants and see how bad it really is...

June2009 · 12/02/2009 16:24

littlesarah mothercare do super comfy maternity tights. they have more room at the front for your bump and hip/length sizes at the back so you know which ones to choose.

daisy5 · 12/02/2009 16:38

me too flynn and june - got stretch marks when my weight fluctuated as a teenager (that I still have but faint) but didn't get any when heavily pregnant, and I didn't use cream or anything - I was really surprised.

I prefer under the bump trousers as though don't fall down on me. I've got a significant enough bottom to stop them I guess

Juicygirlpink · 12/02/2009 17:58

Hi all.

All you lucky ladies that can wear jean! My bottom was so huge before that I couldn't even wear them then- now no chance! I live in m&s leggings & top

Also had stretch marks before pg lots! My weight has yo-yo'd for years. I am however using clarins stretch mark cream which seems to be keeping them at bay....for now!

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 19:16

mica23 2 little girls will be adorable. People think it's odd that we want 3 DC when we already have a boy and a girl, but we think it will be lovely for one of them to have a sibling of the same sex - I treasure my sisters more and more every year. I'm also fascinated to see how different this one will be from its same-sex sibling - you don't get that with one of each. Not to mention being able to use all the clothes...

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 08:07

Good morning.

Home early from work yesterday. Of work today. So much fun having a cold while pregnant. sigh

Off to look at prams tomorrow. Wish me luck!
