Bunnymother - crossed with you I first saw snow at 16 having lived in hot places all my life, I find it truly magical I love the silence when it lies and the crunch under your feet I was reading back in my diary to the day DS was born (24 Jan last year) it was snowing. I lived in Scotland then, now in Spain.

Oh ladies, meant to say, finally got my papers to allow me to see a state Dr here and amazingly the GP agreed to give me a prescription for my aspirin and heparin so instead of 135 euros a month for my meds, this month only cost me 3 euros! Result!!

Mhairi100 · 02/02/2009 10:32

Hi everyone, sorry I've not posted for so long. Wow, some of you have fab snowfall. Just an inch here in Wiltshire, but the train I get to work can't seem to get here due to more snow further off, so sadly I'm stuck at home

Have been emailed plenty of work but can't seem to get motivated...! Just had a lovely hot chocolate with flake AND marshmallows, baby doing major kicks now! Stay warm and dry everyone

bigcar · 02/02/2009 10:45

morning all

Dh didn't make it into work today, we had really heavy snow overnight, no buses, no trains and the road is still thick with snow. We live on a main road that is normally fairly solid with traffic in the rush hour but we've only seen a handful of cars all morning, most of the kids are out the front playing as all the schools are closed too. Dh and dd2 are still out but ds has given up and come in, I think his hands were starting to hurt from all the snowball throwing

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 02/02/2009 11:33

Just got in from making snowmen in the garden with DS. It's now a foot deep and DH had to clear a big area for DS to play because he kept disappearing! I don't even remember it being like this when I was little, though I grew up on the coast and you never get deep snow there. I do feel like a little kid again! Had to be careful with the SPD so I only went out for a bit. I think I'm more excited that DH is off work for two days than the snow!

Glad to see that all UK based June bods are enjoying the snow. Mind you, when it starts going all grey and slushy and horrid, I'll be desperate to be in Sydney or somewhere hot!

[totally jealous emoticon] That's right. Not one flake here in Belfast. Just friggin' freezing.

ermintrude come do the 'scan in just over 24 hours dance' with me!!!! ::dancing::

Can y'all send me some snow? Thanks!

June2009 · 02/02/2009 11:52

Loads of snow here too, listening to lbc radio and someone called in this morning to say that his wife was supposed to be induced today and didn't know what to do (just what you need isn't it).

I'm trying to get dh to take the day off and build a huge snowman in the garden but we can work from home so he's just ignored my plea and got on the phone.
I guess someone has to behave like a sensible adult ;).

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 02/02/2009 11:58

Poor you Tee - That sucks! I'm willing some snow over to you in Belfast xx

OP posts:
flynn1984 · 02/02/2009 12:41

I'm the same as Tee not one piece of snow on the ground, it has just started but it will not last West of Scotland (esp Greenock where I'm from) hardly ever get decent snowfall...I love the snow too just not fair

Tee & Ermintrude you guys must be excited tomorrow being your 'big scan days' I'll do the "scan in 48hours dance on my own" unless theres more wednesday scans out there!

Hope the rest of you with snowfall are enjoying it! and a big Hello to everyone!!

Mhairi100 · 02/02/2009 12:45

All the best with your scans this week Tee, Flynn and Ermintrude, not long to wait now!

daisy5 · 02/02/2009 12:51

tee - yes, it's hard to feel too concerned about turning 40 when you are pregnant or have a new baby. Age somehow doesn't seem so important at times like these. Anyway, having young children makes you feel young - well except during night wake-ups.

ermintrude13 · 02/02/2009 12:58

Thanks flynn, I'm just hoping that we won't be snowed in! I think I'd walk to the hospital rather than miss the scan appointment - ony 3-4 miles or so....

I think this baby likes a lunchtime snooze - I've always liked the idea of a siesta - most jumping about happens in mid-late morning and then again through evening/night-time - so I might have to do some jiggling about to get a wave out of him/her . Very excited though!

Tee2072 · 02/02/2009 16:11

ermintrude after looking at the Met Office weather warning, I had the same thought! But its only about 2 miles for me....

bigcar · 02/02/2009 17:41

Tee and ermintrude, ring the hospital before you set off tomorrow, our hospital has already cancelled all non urgent outpatient clinics for tomorrow. I'm sure you would already have heard if this was the case for you both, but might just be worth checking. Sending good scanning vibes your way Kepp us updated!

MrsMcJnr, good news about your med bills! I know what you mean about position, all my others have been ceph at the 20 week scan and have stayed that way until delivery, guess we'll just have to wait to see if our lo's decide to move before d day

Flynn, your nursery is LOVELY Hope your scan goes well on wednesday!

Schools are all closed again tomorrow, the snow has just got thicker and thicker all day. My kids will be disappointed at least having the tumble drier on to dry out all their stuff is helping to keep the house warm!

MrsMcJnr · 02/02/2009 18:22

My Mum got my 4 lovely coloured, long sleeved tops from the Benetton sale today, 6 euros each down from 20 have to say they are the first maternity items I have bought here in Spain. Last time round I bought my whole work wardrobe from Dunnes Stores over here (and the euro was much weaker against the pound then!) but they don't sell mat wear here anymore!

Tee and Ermintrude - hope you get your scans tomorrow ladies

Tee2072 · 02/02/2009 19:27

msmcJ's post reminded me that M&S is having their cotton fair trade T-shirts again. £5 for short sleeve and £7 for long. I got several in a 22 to use for maternity tops!

maz32 · 02/02/2009 20:18

hi everyone soz have not posted since last week, to think that last week i was worried about putting weight on, and by wed i was worried i was going to lose the abay so my moans re weight were put into perspective!!had big bleed on wed and so was admitted to hosp etc, but everything fine than god! got scan tomorrow so will see the little worry then!! hope u all ok?x

flynn1984 · 02/02/2009 20:40

maz dont worry about expressing any worrys/concerns on here we're all here to help each other in our time of need (if that makes sense) I'm glad that the bleed was nothing too major (apart from you going into hospital) and that your baby is well. I hope you have a good scan tomorrow and please let us know how you get on x

quick question to everyone...are you still experiencing very vivid dreams/nightmares?? two nights ago I dreamt my BIL forced me to kill 3 innocent people and then tried to get DH to kill me...it ended with me stabbing BIL in the leg
Last night I had the most vivid dream ever of walking into my bedroom to see DH cheating on me. it was that real I woke up crying and felt it really happened

These dreams are freaking me out!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/02/2009 20:41

Hi all,

Maz what a nightmare for you hope everything goes ok at your scan tomorrow.

I am also VVVVV jealous I'm in Devon and we V rarely have snow, had about 10 minutes today and nothing melted before the snowing had stopped Grrrrrr, I love it and can't remember the last time we had any proper white stuff!

All is generaly well down here has ms again yesterday but did too much fri and sat, rushing around cleaning the car and test drives of new(er) ones. Managed to pick up a phil and teds cocoon from ebay for £15 so I am very chuffed with myself and now looking at mat wear ( as a treat for being sooooo frugal!. This is the third time i've worn this stuff and some of it has holes in (probably because i didn't get out of it better dd2 and dc3 .

Well just you all enjoy your snow!!! ( on a serious note I hope those with scans booked don't miss out)

love DorisX

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/02/2009 20:44

Flynn haven't had one for a while but they come and go... hopefully they'll go soon for you!

Forgot to add have had to start wearing my bump belt ALREADY as having really bad underbump aches again ( had it with last preg too just don't remember it being this early)

Oh and I more one of my bf (from school) had her baby on sat with a labour of 1.5 hours!!!!!

MrsMcJnr · 02/02/2009 21:57

Maz - how horrible and worrying for you so pleased all is ok though, all the very best tomorrow x

Tee2072 · 03/02/2009 09:12

doris tell your friend we are all .

Maz good luck on your scan today! Mine and ermintrude's are today as well.

Personally I slept like crap last night. Really anxious about today. All the worst case scenarios are going through my brain, like what if the baby doesn't have a brain!?!? My DH told me not to be silly, obviously it has a brain because every time he tries to feel the baby move, and puts his hand on my bump, baby stops moving! He says this proves its intelligence!

ermintrude13 · 03/02/2009 09:30

maz hope the scan reassures you and that you don't get a fright like that again.

flynn, Tee's post answers your question about dreams! I've always had vivid and terrible dreams but they do go up a notch during pregnancy. I really think that all the changes our bodies are going through - hormones, difficulty finding comfy positions, getting up to wee etc. - change our sleep patterns so much and that, added to the natural mummy anxieties that are part of the package, get our unconscious minds working overtime. But there's no 'meaning' in them, except that we're knackered and they're a way of expressing apprehension and concerns that are natural if not logical. Eg: A friend is picking my DS up from school because I won't be back in time after my scan and I dreamt that he skidded on the snow into the middle of the road right in front of a lorry. Even in the dream I felt it was partly my friend's fault for not looking after him, and most unjust that none of her 3 DSs were harmed! . We're not always at our best in dreams...

Tee yippee the day is come and all will be well - if those pesky babies don't hide away or decide to snooze during the scan. Hope you get a great picture

daisy5 · 03/02/2009 12:05

Looking forward to hearing all about the scans today and tomorrow.

LittleSarah · 03/02/2009 12:18

Good luck with all the scans!

flynn and ermintrude - I too am a vivid dreamer. So far in pregnancy they have sometimes seemed worse than usual, other times just the same. It can all be rather horrible, especially when you have an early start and keep waking up.

Went to a fab home birth group at the weekend, with my cousin. A couple of the ladies there were 38/39 weeks, made me wish I was that far along too. (If I hadn't had the mmc I would have been due yesterday).
Anyway, was really good to chat and hear the stories and ask questions. I let dh miss out as he had his birthday party the night before so was a little hungover but he is SO coming next month. I mean I've done it before and I'm finding it useful, that boy has NO idea what to expect, I think he is getting a little blase!

June2009 · 03/02/2009 12:37

I've had vivid dreams too, some quite disturbing and upsetting.

littlesarah I kinda wish I was that far along too...
At least I'd have a good excuse for not being able to focus and do my work properly.
We've got all our files back from the accountants sitting in the hallway and the boxes are too heavy for me to lift.

As soon as the pavement is not so slippery I am going to the doctors to get a referral to the physio, if i sit for more than an hour at a time I have bad pelvic pains and can't go up or down the stairs, had me in tears this morning.

Good luck with the scans today, I'll check back later to see how it went :D
