Tee2072 · 30/01/2009 19:38

Yes, I have a stuffed dog that DH got me that I sleep with so it smells like me. I am going to put it in the baby's room eventually!

MrsMcJnr · 30/01/2009 23:02

Wow what?s going on here? A new look MN don?t like change I feel sorry for all you with very cold weather ? today was fabulous here, 19c and DS played on the beach albeit in jeans and a jumper!

June ? I get inner thigh pains, high up but I put them down to ligaments and stretching nothing more sinister. Hope that?s what yours are. Be careful with the waxing, I had my bikini line done when pg and my skin has never been the same I thought for a mo there that you thought the waxing may be covered on the NHS I had a toy for DS that I kept in our bed but he never took to it

Ineedmore ? SPD sounds so sore, poor you result on the go ahead for a private scan, go girl! hope the sleep gets better.

Snowwombat ? so glad all went well today you must be feeling on top of the world

Daisy ? LOL re June?s waxing - great minds hey!?

Hey Leaky happy birthday for tomorrow

Llynnnn ? hope you feel more energetic soon

Tee ? lots of peeing going on here too, infuriating!

Mica ? progress indeed! I have been having similar worries, my baby doesn?t seem to move much and I wish she did more, I shall see if I can see her

Ermintrude ? I guess with my winter fat plus the placenta its no wonder I don?t feel many kicks do you co-sleep with your babies then?

Flynn ? glad it is good news about your leg

Myneaux ? lovely long mat leave for you

Hey Littlesarah & Dreamy ?

Choccie ? so glad your scan went well you?ve also reassured me as I feel so little movement as the placenta is at the front for me too. I?m amazed by the strong pulse I can feel from the placenta, aren?t you?

Strawberry ? fabulous scan! and that is great news about the placenta moving up, you must be so relieved! hope it?s plain sailing for you from now on.

ermintrude13 · 31/01/2009 09:37

Hello All

flynn hope those cramps stop soon and that they're nothing more than lovely pregnancy symptoms.

mrsMac another impressive catch up! I didn't plan to co-sleep but at first I was just to lazy to move the baby anywhere else and it was easier to b/f lying down (like a big snoring sow) because she was feeding so much and I was so tired. DD loved to be all hot and squashed against the nipple all night - had to train her out of it at 8 months eventually because I went back to work when she was 4 months and was like a zombie with no sleep - but DS liked a cuddle while he fed and was then transferred to the crib beside the bed. He always preferred to have his own space, which worked out better on my back! But it was still close enough to smell me I think .

Busy weekend here - DS football, DD's friend coming for lunch, DD tap lesson, DH football, big roast dinner this evening, then Sunday DD football and DS football party. Is anyone else's life dominated by football even when they never actually play it?!

Have good weekends all!

helpivegottogivebirth · 31/01/2009 09:56

hi everyone,
had my 20 wek scan yesterday (at 22 weeks) - tehe baby is growing fine, though is quite quiet and i still haven't had much movement.

But i was also told my placenta is low - so I am having another scan (internal) at 34 weeks. if the placenta hasn't moved up by then, i'll have to have a c-section, which i am gutted about.

has anyone else had this and had a positive (ie natural birth) outcome?

I feel a bit in limbo over all my birth plans if i have to wait to 34 weeks to find out if i can have a natural birth or not.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 31/01/2009 11:51

I've got to have the same help. Another scan at 34 weeks and if no joy, planned C-section. My sonographer said it's really common though, and will most move up.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 31/01/2009 11:57

Mine isn't ermintrude but my greatest fear is that this will be a boy and he'll want to play! Or worse, want to play cricket! DH and I are not sporty at all. I don't wanna be a football mum!

Okay, not really my biggest fear, obviously!

help at my early pregnancy class MW said it was really common but it was also really common that the placenta would move up as the baby grew. I really would try not to fret too much about. Yeah, easy to say.

helpivegottogivebirth · 31/01/2009 12:06

thanks guys for the reassurance - it's good to know it's quite common.

loooouise · 31/01/2009 13:56

Hey girls, happy weekend.
Congratulations on the scan Choccie and all others who were scanned this week.
One quick question: I have caught my first cold since I got pregnant and have an agonising sore throat. Does anybody know if it's ok to suck Strepsils?

Ooh, very excited for you Tee and Ermitude with your special birthdays coming up! Everybody says that 40 is coolest age (though I hope I manage to find a bloody husband by then....) Looking forward to hearing about how you spend them!

ermintrude13 · 31/01/2009 14:54

loooouise, Tee will indeed be 40 next week but I hit 42 just after Christmas. Still, thank you for thinking I was only 39! Must be someone else - Leaky has a birthday coming up but not sure which one. Hope it's a good one anyway.

daisy5 · 31/01/2009 16:44

Oh dear, I just made a beautiful Chocolate Mousse for a lovely romantic dinner tonight and completely forgot that raw eggs are off the menu. How maddening is that. I'm so tempted to ignore it for once - they are organic and were beautifully clean. Oh dear!

Tee2072 · 31/01/2009 17:28

daisy I think you can probably risk it. The likelihood of that particular egg having salmonella is very very low!

loooouise · 31/01/2009 17:32

oooops, sorry Ermitude
But happy nearly birthday anyway!

ermintrude13 · 31/01/2009 19:34

no worries loooouise! I'll get a free bus pass soon

daisy, last week I made some mayo with organic eggs and couldn't not eat it. Also had a bit of dolcelatte today. Bad mummy! The only thing I'm really steering clear of is shellfish because you never can tell. Chocolate mousse - nope, I wouldn't be able to resist.

daisy5 · 01/02/2009 11:45

Thanks tee and ermintrude. I did have it in the end, but woke up this morning with a funny tummy and suddenly felt very very uneasy - until I realised it was just my rumbling tum, wanting some breakfast! So all well, and Thumper still busy doing rolly polly's.

daisy5 · 01/02/2009 11:49

...and....HAPPY BIRTHDAY this week to tee and leaky.

Anyone I've known with a low placenta - has always moved up by time of the birth, so hope it's the same for you guys.

bigcar · 01/02/2009 13:15

Afternoon all!

Can't get used to this new layout!

Have just spent ages trying to catch up lovely to hear everyones good news!

Dh has been off work for a week and a half with rotten flu, even managed a trip to the hospital for an ecg as the doctor wasn't happy listening to his heart. BUT turns out alls fine, flu always hits him hard, I don't think being an asthmatic helps. Thankfully he's going back tomorrow so things should return to normal.

It was dd2s birthday on thursday, the big 10! She had a sleepover on friday night with 4 friends, I still haven't figured out why it's called a sleepover, very little sleeping ever goes on . They were all really good, spent most of the time making up dances and playing with their mobiles so just really had to make the effort to feed them all

I can sympathise with being a football mum, in our house the girls are into their dancing which has sort of taken over, it's a good job we live almost opposite the school, at least there's not much travelling involved. They've got their show over easter, they do one every 3 years and they are so totally hyped about it, i'm just hoping there won't be too many costumes to make this time round, sewing isn't my thing!

Another one here having to wait to see what the consultant will advise about birth options, but with me it's down to previous complications and the fact this baby at the moment is lying transverse. Another section is looking likely, they've already said no to a homebirth I might suggest it again, just to see the look on their faces

MrsMcJnr, snowwombat, we've just had a bit of a snow flurry and it's forecast to snow heavily tonight, so please remind us that the sun is shining somewhere in the world

Tee2072 · 01/02/2009 19:52

Thanks daisy. I am very much looking forward to my birthday on Thursday. I always thought 40 would be hard, but I think feeling a baby move is making up for it!!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 02/02/2009 08:46

Hello all! We have 6-8 inches of snow here, up to a foot in places. It's mad! DH has two days off as his school has closed and DS is desperate to get outside, but it'll be up to his little 2 yr old waist! I couldn't sleep last night as every time I got up to go to the loo (!) I was looking out the window and watching the world disappear! Hope you are all well xx

OP posts:
dreamydowler · 02/02/2009 09:20

Hi All, Hope everyone had a good weekend. We have had some snow overnight and have a severe weather warning here in the Northwest for the rest of today and tomorrow. It is still snowing at the moment. dd age 2 full of cold and we cant find her favourite dummy so she isnt very happy. Ive just packed ds age 10 off to Wales for a week with the school They are supposed to be canoeing abseiling etc Hope they get there ok me thinks it will be more like snowman making and toboganning if this weather continues. Hope everyone else is enjoying the snowy weather Take very special care xx

ermintrude13 · 02/02/2009 09:27

Ineedmorechoc, you sound as excited as my 6 yr old DS who ran about the house whooping this morning! Really deep snow is such fun for little ones; it's about 3 inches in our garden and still snowing/settling so my DC are keeping their fingers crossed for school closure tomorrow but I don't think it's likely. Eeh, it's like what winters used to be like!

dreamydowler what a shame about the weather for the Welsh week - hope your DS isn't too limited in his activities. I bet they'll have a great time anyway even if the lakes are frozen and the mountains inaccessible!

Keep warm everyone and for those with DC already, good luck with the inevitable snowmen!

bunnymother · 02/02/2009 09:54

Hello everyone!

I'm in London and all this snow makes me think of what it must have loked like in Dickens' time. Its so magical! Last night we were walking around in our street, and a neighbourhood dog was racing around like a mad thing and skidding about. Then this morning DH and I got all dressed up in our snow kit and went for a walk (even had to help push a car that got stuck - high drama!) - so now I don't feel tooooo bad that DH missed out on his ski trips this year due to pregnant wife! I can hear all the neighbourhood children in our square running around in the garden, playing and yelling.

Despite all the hassles this snow causes, hope everyone can enjoy this weather - apparently very rare for London. Clearly I am thrilled (typical tourist)!

Have a lovely day, ladies!

PS thank you for sorting the list, help (I think it was? or perhaps i need more chocolate?)! New format throwing me - can only see the oldest posts as I am writing this.

MrsMcJnr · 02/02/2009 10:10

Hey ladies some very impressive electric storms here last night, we kept losing power it really is wet and nasty outside. If it weren?t for DS I?d be staying in all day but the walls start to close in on him if we don?t go out for a walk at least so I?ll have to brave it.

Ermintrude ? I fed DS in our bed at night too and sometimes when I was really tired and he was unsettled we kept him in with us but mostly transferred him back to his Moses basket or Nature?s Nest beside the bed. I was always paranoid he?d get lost in our bed, still am! Football takes up far too much time in this house too and I hate the game!

Help ? glad the scan went well . My placenta is low at the mo too so I did quite a bit of reading about it. Apparently it isn?t that common for it not to move up as the lower segment of the cervix changes shape, hope yours does move and you don?t have to worry about it

Loooouise ? LOL at your comment on a bloody husband by 40

Hello Tee ? movements are lovely aren?t they thankfully I am feeling more now. Happy birthday for Thurs same date as my Granny and a great friend

Ineedmore ? love snow like that until it becomes grubby have fun!!

Daisy ? yummy I can commiserate on missing out as I had to have Veggie haggis at our Burns supper on Sat that said someone told me that all eggs in the UK are tested and have marks on them to confirm they are salmonella free, not sure if that is the case and I didn?t put it to the test myself! I see you ate it anyway

Bigcar ? your poor DH, hope he feels better soon. Wow a DD of 10 congrats!! This baby is traverse too but the dr said not to even consider it at the mo as it?s too early to say (that said DS was always Ceph!) no sun here today, sorry!!

Dreamy ? enjoy the snow! Hope DD feels better soon and that DS has a ball!! How is your DP feeling now?
