Hi all,

daisy5 I wasn't aware of the 32wks scan but pleased I'm getting another one.I mentioned during my scan that I'll be 40 this Saturday,it was the matron sonographer & she wanted to re-scan me after I'd got off the bed to double check the size of the baby's stomach as it looked small(on 2nd look the baby had moved & she was completely happy with it) so don't know if any of this added to her suggesting another scan.

snowwombat very jealous of you being in the sun

llynnnn · 29/01/2009 14:31

just a quick one, sorry i havent been on for a while.

I'm sooooo tired at the mo, had a sudden burst of energy last week but have been shattered all week! Trying to eat better and sleep as much as possible but not really having an effect. I'm sure if I was able I could sleep all day!

June - great news on your scan and congrats on the little girl! hope your pains in your thighs go, u may just have overdone it these last few days

Tee2072 · 29/01/2009 14:48

Happy Birthday 2 days early leaky!! I'll be 40 next Thursday! You should come join our 40+ yummy mummies thread. The Yummy Mummies part is a joke, I promise!

I am incredibly uncomfortable today. And weeing every 5 minutes.

mica23 · 29/01/2009 15:25

Hi everyone!
Havent been on the thread for ages and is a quick one too..
I got a weird one.Im 19 weeks and was getting a bit stressed as its my second pregnancy and I cant feel baby move yet..but as its turned out I can see it!!!I was telling friend something about bump so I jokingly pushed pushed my stomack out and noticed that its gone cone shaped and then the cone moved, retracted and appeared on the other side!So now Im over the moon!!!

snowwombat · 30/01/2009 06:27

Hi everyone, another balmy evening here. Scan went brilliantly today, there is definately a baby in there!! Sonographers were lovely, all asking how we were doing- we have frequent flyer points at the ultrasound department! Here's to a better 20 weeks.
Promise less of a me post next time
Take care and happy friday

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 30/01/2009 07:35

Hello all! Congrats on the great scan snowwombat and hooray for your wiggly baby mica! Hope you feel a bit better Tee. I HATE the weeing every five minutes thing (especially at night). Can't wait for that to go!

Slept marginally better last night so I feel a lot better. Going to take DS to toddler gym this morning to avoid cabin fever.

I've managed to convince DH that a 3D gender scan will make an excellent early Mothers' Day present.... I've said I'll wait until next Wed to decide whether I want one, but I think I will.....

I held my friend's newborn yesterday and felt very 'clucky'. She had an elected C-Section and seems really well with it, so it made me feel better if that's the way this pregnancy goes if my placenta doesn't move up high enough. I think that was part of what upset me most after the scan yesterday (apart from the shite sonographer)..

Hope all is well with all you mummies and bumps.

Morning all!

I do feel better, thanks Ineed. Got a good nights sleep, which always helps!

Glad scans are going well for everyone! Mines next Tuesday! Counting down the days!

ermintrude13 · 30/01/2009 08:26

snowwombat - at your balmy evening - rather chilly here. Hurrah for your good scan and Mica for your moving cone! I think I won't see movement for a while because my baby will have to push quite hard to be visible through the layer of my winter fat that's keeping it warm .

After I've gone to bed I now have to get up THREE TIMES in quick succession to wee, having been sure I'd emptied my bladder each time. At least after that I can sleep, but I keep jumping back into bed all cold and taking DH's heat. He's very kind about it but I can tell it's getting to him..

Myneaux · 30/01/2009 09:11

Hello everyone

Congrats to all of you on your scans....isnt it weird to think that for most of us the next time we see our babies will be at the birth? For a long time it seemed as if this pregnancy was going to take ages...now time seems to be flying.

Just wanted to say I have great empathy with all of you ladies who have to get up for lots of wee's in the night (I managed a record 4 times last night !). Isnt is disappointing when you go and its the most pathetically small wee ....and you think 'I got up for THAT !!!'.

June - I do martial arts and did loads of research about the affect of different types of exercise on pregnant ladies. Apparently all our muscles, ligaments and joint are much more flexible than normal to allow for all the changes in our bodies. This means that its really really easy to pull or strain muscles even if you dont feel it at the time. After a months off at Christmas I started v light training again last week and could barely walk for 2 days !...so you pains might just be that....have a few days rest and see if they go away on their own.

3 people who I know at work, but vaguely well, saw me for the first time since Christmas yesterday and spotted instantly that I am pregnant !!...Its such a lovely feeling isnt it? (particularly since then you know that you dont just look fat !!!).

I also went to see our HR department to discuss my maternity leave and, because our annual leave has to be taken between 1st April and 31st march and I get 38 days a/l a year (I work in a university)....it means that in order to take my all my holiday and have my full allocation of 39 weeks paid maternity leave I actually have to finish work on 1st May !

When is everyone else finishing?....and what are your plans for filling the time?

Tee2072 · 30/01/2009 09:29

myneaux I am trying to get my boss to understand that very thing, about my holiday! Our leave year is the same as yours, so I will loose all 25 days if he won't let me take them in May! He's the head of HR, so there is no higher authority, but he's still not convinced! So 1st May if I'm lucky, otherwise 1st June!

Baby has been kicking up a storm today. I'm glad because it was really quiet all last night and this morning and being a worry wart, I was worry warting!

LittleSarah · 30/01/2009 09:51

Hey

llynnn - Know how you feel! I'm so tired too, dh woke up before alarm this morning (about 6.45am) all bouncy and awake and he's like 'are you awake?' Um yeah, barely!

Myneaux -Everything is moving faster now, which is fab. Bring on June I say.

Tee - Well I should be finishing up my temp work at the end of March and I can't wait. I've got to get all my uni work -including dissertation - done by around about the 8th of May and then I shall be relaxing for a few weeks! As much as you can with a 5 yr old... I'm actually going to see if I can finish up mid March as I really want to concentrate on uni work and getting a good degree for the last couple of months. God, four years is nearly over!!

Hello to all the wee-ers! My bladder seems to be holding up for the moment but I remember last time. Eight times in one night was my record. Urgh. I'm sure I'll be joining you all soon.

dreamydowler · 30/01/2009 11:21

good Morning everyone Very at the lovely weather you are having Snow We are having snow here apparently this weekend. So pleased your scan went well too. June pmsl about your wax on the NHS. I had really bad spd last pregnancy so bad I ended up on crutches I found going up and down stairs unbearable. Touch wood Im ok so far this time but have been really avoiding too much walking
Happy Birthday for 2 days time leaky Have you anything special planned?
Wow Mica thats fantastic that you can see your baby move already I will be looking out more now but rather feel like ermintrude that it will be a while yet due to the layer of flab it will have to fight its way through

June2009 · 30/01/2009 12:29

mica How wicked that you actually saw the baby move!
I feel it more and more now, it's really great.

lynn Hope you're getting better, my antibiotics have finally kicked in and for the first time this week I am functionning almost normally.

myneaux I did shotokan a few years back and really enjoyed it. (didn't go too far, just yellow belt).

Re: pain in thighs, it's better today.
I rested all evening yesterday and I'm doing minimum walking and going up the stairs, I've followed ineed's advice (thanks!) and been really aware of my movements. So far so good but now I'm wondering wether to cancel my gym membership until the baby's born.

The girl who did the wax was great, I told her I couldn't go on my belly and she managed everything without.

Tee I hope you're feeling all right after a tough week. Hopefuly our new accountant can work SMP for me. We run our own company though so I'm not really going to take any time off :S I can work from home so hopefully it'll work out.

chocciedooby · 30/01/2009 15:01

Hi Everyone.

Had my 20 week scan this morning .

I was so excited to see little bud again. I have not been feeling much movement apart from when I go to bed (2 or 3 movements only) and sometimes after eating so it was a relief to see lo going crackers inside.
The sonographer said that the baby is very lively, and looks very healthy. The heart was beating away very strongly.

I told her I didn't want to know the sex (even though I am so curious). Dh arrived a few minutes late and I had already told the sonographer that he wanted to know but that I didn't. I think she thought I was being mean so after the scan I felt so bad that I asked dh if he wanted to go back into the scanning room and ask the sex but not to tell me. He declined. Siad he can wait until the birth

Saw my OB afterwards and he scanned me again!!!I felt spoilt. he also pointed out that baby is lively and that I couldn't feel it as my placenta is at the front.

sorry for me post. I'm just so excited. 20 weeks to go

chocciedooby · 30/01/2009 15:08

June - glad you are starting to feel a bit better You are so brave getting waxed. Did it not hurt more because you are pregnant?

Snowwombat - Lucky you having lovely weather. Congrats on your scan. Isn't it great!

Tee - Glad you got a good nights sleep.

dreamydowler · 30/01/2009 15:23

Hi Choccy Im so glad your scan went well Its so lovely isnt it. You had a very good OB scanning you again. Its a shame your husband didnt get to see Are you going to have another oppertunity to get scanned so he can go with you?

Tee2072 · 30/01/2009 15:26

choccie that's great!

4 more days. 4 more days! (join me ermintrude!!) 4 more days!!

LittleSarah · 30/01/2009 15:47

Choccie - Great news about your scan! Yay! My placenta is posterior so that's why I feel so much, which I have a feeling will start hurting in a couple of months...

Oh, my brother-in-law's girlfriend has been waiting to get her first scan. They aren't sure how far along she is but I think at least 14 weeks now as they heard the heartbeat using my doppler a few weeks ago. Anyway, she got a call this morning asking why she had missed her scan appointment, it seems they sent the card to the wrong address so she had no idea. Poor girl. I just saw her on Wednesday night and she was saying how she kept checking the post. I have to say if I was her I'd be more pushy though, especially as she is probably in second trimester now. They are sending another appointment out apparently, I would be demanding for them just to give me it over the phone! I am a tad impatient though.

Work finished in 15! Whoop for the weekend!

What great news StrawberrySam! After all that worry early on. How lovely to know everything is okay x

chocciedooby · 30/01/2009 17:46

Hey StrawberrySam - Great news on your scan. Its funny how some of us want to know the sex and some of us don't. Completely a personal thing but hope they can give you the details on next scan.

Yes my OB is good to scan me but I am paying private so it's the norm here really. Costing us e4000 for this baba!
When he scanned me he confirmed that my dates were spot on - he is keeping date at 17th June even though I am working on 18th. His secretary told me that a girl was in yesterday for her 1st appt. She thought she was 14 weeks along but he confirmed she is only 9 . How disappointing that must be.

Dreamydowler - DH did get to the scan and saw it etc. He just missed the gel going on

ermintrude13 · 30/01/2009 17:54

Choccie and Strawb, hurrah for good scans. And ho yes, Tee, I'm humming it already, '4 more days to go tralalala'!

June2009 · 30/01/2009 18:36

hey strawberrysam nice to hear from you, good news about your placenta, I take it the bleeing has stopped now?

I saw this thread which I thought you might find useful about the essentials to get for the baby.

Dh bought 2 pink & cuddly musical toys today and I got really emotional :D
Are any of you going to sleep with a soft toy so it takes your smell for the baby to find it reassuring? My auntie was saying it's a good thing to do.

Thank God it's Friday, have a good weekend everyone!

ermintrude13 · 30/01/2009 18:54

Not heard that one about the cuddly toy, June. I'm expecting my LO to be in smelling distance of me all the time at first so hopefully won't need it, but maybe it will help settle babes who sleep in their own crib/cot from the start? I do remember that once my milk came in both my babies went into a complete feeding frenzy - like a shark catching a whiff of blood! - and DH had to take them AWAY from my smell until we'd all calmed down. But that's specifically milk rather than general mummy's skin smell.

flynn1984 · 30/01/2009 19:20

Evening all thank god it's friday!

Was at hospital again oday because of the cramps in my leg, they did another scan and there was still no clot which is a great relief!

choccie & strawberrysam great about your scans and very happy to hear everything went well.

5 more days till mine
