maz32 · 17/01/2009 20:12

hi everyone can join? ive been so reluctant after joining a previous thread and then had miscarriage but im hoping that as im now over 18weeks i havent tempted fate?!

Tee2072 · 17/01/2009 20:21

welcome maz!

I think at 18 weeks are are probably safe. Sorry to hear about the previous mc.

So, girls, I had a dream that Indiana Jones was my OB. What the hell does that mean?!?!

MrsMcJnr · 17/01/2009 21:51

Hello Maz, congratulations! I felt exactly the same with my DS, couldn't really get excited until 20 weeks due to losing a baby before him. Hope all goes very, very well for you this time round!

Tee - yes, I know what it means... it means you are pregnant! wacky dreams are part and parcel!

Very quiet on here, you all catching up on beauty sleep?!

MrsMcJnr · 17/01/2009 22:28

Littlesarah - have you seen "this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/685216-FREE-SECOND-SCAN-IN-EDINBURGH-FROM-JAN2009"?

chocciedooby · 18/01/2009 10:29

LOL at your dream Tee.

Welcome Maz and and congratulations. Good Luck with everything. Exciting times.

LittleSarah · 18/01/2009 11:08

MrsMcJnr - Yeah have seen it, it's great they're finally doing it, just hope I get my appointment!

llynnnn · 18/01/2009 15:32

hi all

Had my scan on Friday, all is great and the sonographer says she is 99% sure its a......GIRL!! Was so lovely to have the scan and the baby was posing and wriggling all over, took quite a while as eerytime they tried to do the measurements she wriggled away! Not that I was complaining, i could've stayed there all weekend!

Quite shocked its a girl, i really thought it was a boy, but i'm over the moon and really cant wait to meet her now!! We have 2 girls names that we cant decide between they are Freya and Lauren, what do you think?

maz - welcome and congrats!

littlesarah - i know what u mean about the tiredness, dd is usually a good sleeper now but while she has been poorly this week we've been up and down! me and dh are both shattered now, will take a lot of getting used to again once this new baby arrives!

tee & Flynn - strange dreams! another side effect of pregnancy i suppose! i keep having dreams about dh leaving me or having an affair. I know he wouldnt in a million years but still makes me mad with him in the mornings lol!

Hope everyone else is well

Tee2072 · 18/01/2009 15:57

great news about the scan lynn! A girl, neato!

I personally prefer Lauren, but that's just me, its your daughter!

flynn1984 · 18/01/2009 18:02

llynnnn Wonderful news on your scan!! I like the name Lauren to be honest but Freya is a good name too!

chocciedooby · 18/01/2009 19:43

Congratulations on your scan llynnnn. I am so looking forward to my 20 week one on the 30th. It seems so long ago that I had my 12 week one.

I like both of your names but do prefer Lauren.

I have a feeling I am carrying another boy. My shape is the same, I am growing quite rapidly now and have now got chocolate cravings which I had with both DS's. I didn't want chocolate at all for the first trimester. Couldn't face it!

MrsMcJnr · 18/01/2009 21:07

Llynnnn - lovely news glad all is well and how exciting, another pink bean for the thread! I like both of your names but pefer Lauren

Choccie - so far I am exactly the same shape with this baby girl as I was with my DS

June2009 · 18/01/2009 22:21

Hi everybody, I've not had time to catch up properly, the flu and morning sickness both seem to have come back!

llynn congrats on your scan, you must be over the moon :D
Did you tell your relatives and friends you're expecting a girl? We'd like to try and keep it a secret. I also think I am carrying a boy so if they tell me on wednesday that it's a girl I'll also be shocked, can't wait to find out, we'll be delighted either way.

I love the name Lauren, a friend of mine has already used it though.

I've had weird and vivid dreams too, fighting lions in a zoo amongst others..

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 19/01/2009 07:13

Hi there all! Congrats on the great scan llynnnn, and a girl!

All good here. Got back from a weekend at ma and pa's last night. It was lovely, but sleeping on a pull-out bed has completely aggravated my SPD and now hobbling everywhere. Will have to take it easy today. Oh well....

I've got to wait til I'm practically 22 weeks for my scan. It's so frustrating! Apparently that's the norm round here...

Woken up feeling achy with glands up and shivery. Yuck!

I'm also convinced I'm having another boy (though I was convinced that DS was a girl last time round so I obviously know nothing about these things..). DH's hoping for a girl as he says he'll book himself in for the 'snip' if it is!? If it's a boy then I get another go at trying for a girl. even if it's another boy I'll just resign myself to washing 10 loads of sports' kit a week and lots of Sky Sports......

Tee2072 · 19/01/2009 07:57

Morning mommies to be!

I am feeling totally gross today. Slept badly, and when I did sleep, horrible dreams. So I'm having a day off of work.

ineed yikes about the SPD and the bed. Maybe better to not go visit again until baby is born?

flynn1984 · 19/01/2009 08:37

Morning al

I'm like Tee feeling rotten this morning had a really bad sleep and now have a migraine and severe neck pain, everytime I move my head I feel like I'm going to be sick, wish I stayed in my bed

The nausia (excuse spelling) has came back here's hoping I wont be sick.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok!

dreamydowler · 19/01/2009 09:15

congratulations Llynn I cant wait for my scan next wednesday I normally can guess what Im carrying but have to admit Im flummexed this time. I have craved savoury things which is more like me when carrying boys but have been sicky which is more like me when carrying girls. It would be nice to have another little boy as I have 5 girls and only 2 boys but I really dont mind. Sorry to hear some of you have caught the dreaded flu Ive spent weeks and weeks recovering and finally feel human again Hope everyone else gets better soon

ermintrude13 · 19/01/2009 09:20

Hi everyone

llynnn I like both names. Practice saying them out loud to a child rather than a baby - "Lauren, what have I said about drawing on the walls?" "Finger out of nose, Freya!" and see which sounds best to you .

Tee, Flynn and Ineed hope you all get a good rest today and feel better soon.

choccie like MrsMcJr, I was the same shape with DD and DS and looks like I'm going the same way with this one (only with more fat over the top of the bump this time around ). So you never know...I guess you want to find out on 30th?

june I haven't thrown up for 4 days now so am really hoping that's an end to the all day ms. But still feeling nauseous quite a lot. Hope yours lifts imminently.

daisy5 · 19/01/2009 14:18

lynn & mrsmcjnr - so pleased your scans went well and lynn congrats on a girl - I adore my little girl and can't talk girls up enough . Love the picture mrsmac - she looks so cuddly in 3D. Now I am victim to the two day panic when after having no concerns for quite a while I think 'oh my god, it's he/she alright in there...hasn't moved so much'. Let the nail biting commence until 3.30 on Wednesday when we go for the scan. Thanks for the info on Zahara - I will definitely come back to you.

Not helped by the fact I am coming down with a cold and I do wonder if they get any of the symptoms, and whether he/she is thinking 'oh dear - where has this blinding headache come from - wish I could reach for the Nurofen'.

ermintrude - love your name choosing selection process, or is this just Part 1? In my Baby Names book - it suggests you choose a name that is good in adult life as well as childhood, 'in case your little one becomes a high flying lawyer', but they never say 'in case your little one becomes a beauty specialist'. It's all a bit aspirational isn't it? Anyway, I'd quite like to go to a lawyer called Mollie or Daisy - a bit more friendly don't you think?

Anyway, love Freya and Lauren - both soft and pretty names. Freya seems to be quite popular at the mo.

I'm sorry - I'm really not feeling well enough to cope with the reading anymore, so shall just say HELLO to tee, bigcar, choccie, Iwantmore, littlesarah, flynn & june and everyone-else. I too have been having very odd and unsettling dreams.

MrsMcJnr · 19/01/2009 14:51

Poor you June, hope you feel better soon. I am having another icky day here, hey ho! My sis found out her 2nd child was a boy and kept it a secret because she already had a boy and didn?t want people wrongly assuming that she was disappointed, I can see the logic in that. As it?s your 1st baby, it would be a lovely secret for you to keep but you?ll be a better woman than most of my friends if you don?t let the cat out of the bag, everyone I know who has known has let it slip All the best for Wednesday

Ineedmore ? poor you, off colour too! with DS (on the NHS in UK) I got my 20 week scan at 21+5 too! LOL about your predictions of life with all those males in your family

Tee ? I hope you are pampering yourself and taking it easy hope you feel after your duvet day

Flynn ? not another one I can really empathise with the migraine. Horrible. I was discussing them with my Dr last week and he told me to either take aspirin or codeine if I get another one. To date I?ve just being doing the hot/cold flannel over the eye in question trick!

Dreamy ? your brood really is fabulous I hope I can get to 4, I?ve always wanted a big family stay well!!

Ermintrude ? LOL at the practice, I hear DH practising our proposed name for our baby in the shower, most amusing! hope that?s the end of the sickness for you!

Daisy ? not you too!!! hope you feel better and that Weds goes really well. I think the only real worry for the baby when you are ill is if you have a really high temp, otherwise I think they are pretty much ok. I totally empathise on the worry, it?s horrid isn?t it? (Dr B thinks I am crazy when I tell him that I worry before every scan! ) Thanks for the complements on the pic, Dr B had me eating sugar cubes and virtually standing on my head trying to get a good pic but she wasn?t having it! LOL I wonder if my folks thought about their aspirations for me when they named me Amanda?! (I am a lawyer but pretty low flying and loving it right now ) In fact I know they didn?t. They thought they were having a boy and were going to call me Adam and then had to think very quickly when I wasn?t a boy. My Mum even had name tapes printed! What a nutter! Dare I say they heard a Barry Manilow song and ??though I have never been known by that abbreviated form!

June2009 · 19/01/2009 16:04

Thanks for your kind words, crawling under paperwork atm, not having much fun.

daisy I was going to ask you wether you were getting nervous about the scan on wednesday (mine's at 11:30) then thought better of it in case you weren't
I've started crying everytime dh tells me he's looking forward to it - what is wrong with me?!?
I haven't felt the baby much either and I think it's quite normal to feel worried. Just over 40 odd hours to go...

daisy5 · 19/01/2009 21:07

oh june - oh cry on my shoulder and share my tissues. I think, subconsciously I have been feeling stressful about this scan for some time, and will be relieved when it is over. My miscarriage last June, has made me a little wobbly this time around. I remember last time being so excited and never ever gave a thought to the possibility anything could be wrong. Just two more sleeps. To be honest, I am feeling so rotten today, I am struggling to think of anything except going to bed very soon. Maybe a blessing in disguise. Oh and june - don't forget how tiny the chances are that anything will be wrong - instead you will spend 20mins cooing at your playful, cute little baby. Mine appeared to be playing football with my womb last time.

mrsmcjnr - oh dear, your parents were a little overconfident when it came to guessing the sex of little 'Adam'. When I was a baby, I kept my mother awake nights for the first two years (apparently), and so she thought I should be an 'evening hostess' (I think that's a polite way of saying 'lady of the night'). So not hugely aspirational!! Actually, after hearing this story for many years (and getting somewhat bored with it), after having little dd, I asked her again how I could really stay awake all night, and she replied 'you would sleep during the day and stay awake all night', which naturally made me wonder how mad she was letting me sleep all day - but she said they were told then that you should 'never wake a sleeping baby'!!!!!! Hmmm.....

May all of us get better soon.

daisy5 · 19/01/2009 21:18

mrsmcjnr - your mentioned Barry Manilow but it went over my head a little, as I struggle to remember his songs. Was he charming enough to write a song about you?

daisy5 · 19/01/2009 21:20

Oh and one more thing, I was feeling sentimental and dug out the DVD that Dr B gave me and had a good look. DD came in while I was looking and so I sat her on my knee and told her - that it was her. Her head, her legs etc. She became a bit disturbed and decided to leave!!!!! Maybe a bit too far back in the photo album.

MrsMcJnr · 19/01/2009 21:42

June ? there?s nothing wrong with you hon, many of us get anxious before a scan. Be kind to yourself, sure all will be fine on Weds x

Daisy ? when I was pg with DS I was really envious of all the Mums-to-be who were so blaze about their babies, so sure that they were fine, would arrive etc. I never felt like that until DS arrived and it was all because of losing my first baby. I think you feel that when lightening has struck you once that it?ll get you again. Maybe it?s a psychological way of protecting yourself having been through a bad experience. LOL at your story, it?s only when you are a parent yourself that you realise that you get blamed for a lot when you are a kid and so many of those things are not really down to you!! The song was ?Mandy? apparently it came on the hospital radio when they were thinking about a name! I keep forgetting I have those DVDs of the scans; can understand why your DD was a little spooked!

ermintrude13 · 19/01/2009 22:38

MrsMc shame it wasn't 'Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl' . Actually, I bet there are lots of Lolas around now, to go with all the Charlies.
