Me too insywinsy and littlesarah - I start discussing names and he just starts coming out with ridiculous ones and starts laughing. I'm armed with clipboard and lists and he is suggesting Zachariah Aardvark.

Tee2072 · 16/01/2009 06:50

Glad its not just my DH who does this name thing. It is so frustrating!

ermintrude13 · 16/01/2009 09:58

Why are men so funny about discussing baby names? My DH almost squirms with embarrassment about it, like I'm telling him to and get examined for testicular cancer or something. Maybe it's not yet real enough for them to think that coming up with a few names is quite a good idea: when we get to 8 months and big as a house they'll suddenly realise that, like it or not, decisions will have to be made!

LittleSarah · 16/01/2009 10:06

Exactly. Mine always seems interested and excited and gets the book out and then starts saying 'How about Baldric? Or Lucretia?'

We have a very short list for either sex mostly things I've suggested and he hasn't vetoed.

Flynn - I got very paranoid this morning after feeling the baby hadn't moved nearly as much in the last 24 hours. Pathetic. Of course the doppler found a very fast wee heartbeat no problem. And, breathe...

MrsMcJnr · 16/01/2009 10:09

Hey ladies, all went well at my scan B2 looks perfect, long arms and legs and a little face like her brother?s, round face and a button nose. I have put the 3D photo on my profile but it isn?t great due to the placenta being anterior and her covering her face with her hands almost constantly. Having an ughh day today, probably because I let myself get so worked up before the scan yesterday. I?d put on 2kgs this time

Tee2072 · 16/01/2009 10:12

Awww, look at the little face, mrsMcJ!

Just over 2 weeks 'til my 20 week scan...so impatient!

llynnnn · 16/01/2009 10:34

congrats on your scan mrsmc, really pleased everything went well. the photo is great you can really see the facial features, and your ds is adorable!

my dh is exactly the same with names, comes out with stupid suggestions then says NO to all my serious ones!! grrr!!

flynn - hope you are feeling more movements today, i too am very paranoid about everything!!

my scan is in a few hours!! eeek!

dreamydowler · 16/01/2009 10:46

good morning everyone. Im really excited about my 20 week scan in just under 2 weeks after hearing and seeing the results of some of yours. Thankfuly the sinusitus seems to have gone Really dont understand why the doctors hold out until you are begging for antibiotics. Feeling baby move more and more now. I have put about 4 pounds on so far I think It feels like a small baby this time but my last two were 9lb 1 and 8lb 12 so will probably explode nearer the time. Cant believe we are nearly half way there. I have asked dp to repaint the youngest two girls room and am going to get bunkbeds to make more space for the overflow of xmas toys that are still downstairs. would like to get the rest of the house painted too and some new flooring down but we shall see.

dreamydowler · 16/01/2009 10:50

we have stuck to the same names so far Evie rose for a girl and Joseph steven for a boy. Has anyone else been having really weird vivid dreams. I dreamt I was on the toilet last night and had to jump out of bed before I wet it good luck with your scan today llynn and mrsmc love your profile photos

June2009 · 16/01/2009 12:02

Same here with dh about names, I have a list in alphabetical order and one in order of my favorites, my dh says we should wait until we know the sex, only one set of names to think about then

My dad gave me a book of "names of the world". As we have two different nationalities the baby names have to work in both languages and in english! (ie be pronounceable in all and not mean anything rude in any!)
Some of the foreign "english sounding" ones include "Brighton" and "Goal" amongst others which is a bit of a laugh.

Someone on the thread suggested a website a little while ago where you enter names you like and it gives you other options, has anyone got that link still by any chance?

I suppose I should really get back to my tax returns.

ermintrude13 · 16/01/2009 12:14

dreamydowler those are lovely names.

mrsmcj glad the scan went so well. Like Tee, I'm kicking my heels until the 20 wk scan which is on the same day as hers

June is must be extra hard to come up with something that suits 2 languages and cultures. I know a (British) man who wanted to call his daughter Ellen or Eleanor but his wife was Japanese and couldn't pronounce it. So they went for Erin, and people assume she's half-Irish!

chocciedooby · 16/01/2009 12:20

Congrats on the scan MrsMc. dreamydowler - vivid dream? Yes!!!! My dreams have been rather sordid actually . I particularly enjoyed the one I had early this morning.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 16/01/2009 13:02

HI there all! dreamy - we're also going for Evie Rose for a girl and Harry David John for a boy (and spookily enough, my brother is Joseph Steven!) we must have known each other in a past life....

Yes to vivid dreams. I have to wake myself up properly afterwards and check I was really dreaming.... aaagh!

DS decided to wake up at 5am this morning for no reason...... bloody nightmare!

Hope all is well. We're off to my ma and pa's tomorrow for a catch up, then having dinner with my best friend, her husband and another lovely couple who I've known since playschool. (although everyone will be drinking and eating things I can't, no doubt!)

Can't wait for my 20 week on the 28th when I'll be nearly 22 weeks . Can't believe I have to wait so long. I'm bloody 20 weeks tomorrow.... aagh!

bigcar · 16/01/2009 13:12

MrsMcJnr, glad your scan went well, those pics on your profile are lovely

June, "Goal", now that would be one dh would go for Was this the site?

My dhs favourite trick is to wait until baby has literally just arrived and then tries to sneak a "new" name in with me being too tired to realise, so watch out

MrsMcJnr · 16/01/2009 15:03

Thanks for all your good wishes yesterday ladies

Choccie ? thanks it must be hard coping with DS1?s tantrums we have friends with 2 boys aged 5 and 3 and both of them are really violent towards each other and the parents. I know my friends find it really exhausting. She is a primary school teacher too, and scary in my opinion but her boys don?t seem to think so! Am I right in calculating 14 months between your boys? How did you find the early days?

Daisy ? we were really impressed with the new bars and restaurants in Zahara last year, massive improvement. In fact, there were a few restaurants we can recommend too. I think there is a big difference in my feelings this pregnancy, last time round, it was all about the pregnancy because I just couldn?t imagine what it would be like to have a baby of my own but now that I have one, I keep fast forwarding to when B2 is here and what it will be like seeing my DCs together can?t wait!! How exciting about a wedding for you in NZ this Christmas!

Myneaux ? glad your scan went well. Last time with DS the placenta was high and posterior this time it?s anterior and low, DS wasn?t a big kicker and I guess I won?t be getting that much action from this one either!

Hi Insy not got the book yet but I?ll check that my sister has received it, thanks so much great idea to look at Ikea for nursing chairs. The one you link too looks as if the arms would be a better height for breastfeeding too. Worth bearing in mind. Hope DS1 feels better soon and that DS2 manages to avoid it. You can talk names with us

Llynnnn ? thanks hon for the compliments thinking of you at your scan today hope DD feels better soon and that the adage about a baby and a toddler being easier than being pregnant with a toddler is true!

Flynn ? take it easy at the new job and don?t forget that the baby will have quiet and energetic days just like we do

Hello and welcome Katocat!

Hey Littlesarah

Ermintrude ? I think that that is exactly what it is for men, the baby is just not real to them until it arrives, which is a bit late to choose a name! DH got bored at the scan yesterday I know it was long as Dr was checking everything but I loved every moment of watching her

Thanks Tee it?s not the best photo but the best we could get, just after we saw that image she closed and opened her eyes and then stuck her tongue out

Dreamy ? thanks for your kind words with all that painting it sounds like the nesting instinct has hit you already! Glad you are feeling better. I?m having lots of weird dreams; they usually include sex with less than desirable TV actors, weird! Love your names what are the names of your DC already? My son is Xavier

Hey there Ineed more and Bigcar

MrsMcJnr · 16/01/2009 15:05

There is a moses basket and some tiny clothes in my front room my friend moved house today and her 3 month old son has outgrown it so I have inherited it! No room to store it here so I'll take it to my Mum's at the weekend. When I was pg with DS around this stage another friend lent me her Moses basket and I was freaking out having it in the house so soon!

Sorry I'd dropped off the list and was trying to get it just right, still not quite perfect at the bottom there but I think this is everybody.

bigcar Thanks yeah that site is good.
MrsMcJnr brilliant scan pic :D
A couple of people have bought us some baby clothes too, I've put them in the spare room.

Almost half way through, 20w on sunday adnd next scan on wednesday :D

flynn1984 · 16/01/2009 19:28

mrsmc Glad the scan went well! and the pic is wonderful!! 2 and a half weeks till mine (4th Feb) and cannot wait...like Tee and ermintrude I'm quite impatient

llynnn hope your scan went well!

To those having vivid dreams I too am also suffering this. Last night I dreamt I was running over al my friends in my car, it felt so real and I woke up in a cold sweat which wasn't good.
As for flutters I can't say for certain if I'm feeling anything, but picking up a strong HB on the doppler so worries are leaving me...for now

I'm so tired tonight thank god for the weekend hope to catch up with everyone else soon x

LittleSarah · 16/01/2009 19:47

MrsMcJnr - Glad thr scan went so well, great picture!

Of course I still don't know when mine is but hearing that yours is not until you're 22 weeks Ineed makes me feel a bit calmer about it. I was slightly worried about not getting it organised in the window of opportunity... whatever that is.

Dd woke up at 6am this morning after an 'accident' and came in with us. Of course she didn't get back to sleep and although she was fairly quiet her wriggling and occasional attempt at conversation were enough to stop us getting any rest either. Made dh realise how tired he'll be when baby arrives (although of course it'll be me doing the hard work!) and has made me slightly worried about his reaction to that tiredness. He's never too impressed at being woken in the night but I had never considered it in light of having a sleepless baby! Oh well, if the worst comes to the worst we'll just have to get him a sofabed for a few months!

I'm feeling pretty rough today, bad throat and general lethargy. Spent half the day in bed and have neglected my chores utterly. Oops.
