Morning all

Good luck to daisy and june for your scans tomorrow x

MrsMcJnr, my bil, Daniel, was named after an Elton John song! Not that he likes to be reminded of that now

Lol ermintrude I have heard a few Lolas being called recently, dd2 had 3 Charlies in her year at school at one point (2 boys, 1 girl), it's one of those names that never really seems unpopular. I seem to remember a while back someone calling their baby lala (teletubbies) and I think there was a rush of Bellas, Milos and Jakes after the tweenies. Anyone up for naming their child Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy or maybe even Ninky Nonk

I was lying in bed last night and could actually see my baby moving, s/he must have been having a real wriggle Typically dh managed to miss it, he still hasn't felt this lo move yet.

The best way to get baby moving (it's working for me now at 21 weeks) is to have a good drink of cold water/juice, lay down and uncover your belly, apparently babies become sensitive to light/cold around now. It's not 100% reliable this early on, depends on position of the baby and placenta etc but certainly later on it will work.

Hope everyone not feeling well is on the mend soon

LittleSarah · 20/01/2009 12:24

bigcar - Great advice, will have to give that a go. Great to see baby move too [stares at belly intensely.................... gives up], can't wait for that!

MrsMcJnr - I know what you mean about the difference with worrying when you've lost a baby. With dd nothing really bothered me, having had a mmc this one has been so much more anxious!

june and daisy - I understand your fears about the scans, I'm sure I'll be the same when my appointment comes through! I'm sure everything will be wonderful though.

Welcome maz!

Congrats on having a wee girl llynnn, they are lovely. Re worrying about tiredness I now seem to be generally worried about what 'type' of baby I have this time. What if they won't feed? What they cry all the time? What if, what if, what if!

SweetBROODY · 20/01/2009 12:44

Hello ladies - its lovely to see all this progress.. and congratualtions to all those that know which flavour they are going to have!

I cant beleive how quickly time is going now... the first 3 months felt like they went on forever.. but I cant bleive that i'm 5 months pregnant.. I can feel lots of movements.. and its quite scary. I had a bit of a cry at my 20 week scan because I was saying to the doc that even though I KNOW i'm pregnant I dont feel it - especially after last MMC in May last year.. Its one of those things isnt it... Until the baby is here.. I dont think I will beleive it..

I had a well dodgy dram about hubby and woke up crying! WHy do we do this to ourselves!

Wink
SweetBROODY · 20/01/2009 15:49

We havent officially been banned but after ending up at A& E a few times DH has said he wont do the deed until we know for sure that everything fine..

Dont know when that may be!

I guess its lucky that he is that understanding..

Sorry about the sillyness ladies..

Its been some time since I had a giggle..

SweetBROODY · 20/01/2009 15:50

Oooh another bit of news from.. I just found out my aunty is 3 months pregnant and due exactly 2 months after me! I have a little cousin on the way thats gonna be an aunty or uncle to my LO but be 2 months younger! lol

Its amazing really...

ermintrude13 · 20/01/2009 16:34

Steady on now Sweetbroody and strawberrysam, you're getting out of hand with all this talk of sexual invention and sauciness!

V glad to hear the bleeds have stopped Strawb, no wonder you're being extra careful till the birth.

Sweetb I bet your DH is a bit about the A&E incidents, poor chap! Lovely news about your cousin who'll be younger than your LO!

bigcar, can't believe anyone called their DC Lala after a flippin' teletubby!! Isn't a lala what posh people say instead of fanny?

llynnnn · 20/01/2009 17:20

hi all

thanks for your comments on our names, although i've just found out theres a Lauren in eastenders whose sister has the same name as our dd1, so that is probably out now

strawberry - great news you havent had anymore bleeds, must be sooo reassuring for you listening in to the heartbeat. and, btw, i can totally understand you avoiding it, i'm wary enough, cant help thinking it could harm the baby , and i havent had any bleeds like yours

sweetbroody - congrats on the news of your new cousin, my sister is also pregnant (due 5 weeks after me) and dh's auntie is pregnant too (due 4 weeks before me) and a close friend is also expecting (due end ofJuly) its going to be a very busy baby summer!! i cant wait!! when i had dd i didnt know anyone else who had little ones, strange how these things happen all at once!

june & daisy - good luck for your scans tomorrow, sure everything will be fine

littlesararh - i too have 'what if' syndrome! dd has always been strong willed and unsettled from the word go and i worry how i'll cope with 2 'sprited' daughters!!

bigcar - thanks for the advice about getting baby moving, will def be giving that a try!

Tee2072 · 20/01/2009 17:57

Hi All.

strawberry glad to hear the bleeding has stopped! You must be so relieved!

Good luck for those having scans tomorrow. I still have 1.5 weeks!!

I'm off to an antenatal class tonight. I think its a bit silly because it is billed as 'early pregnancy class' and I think at this point, a bit past the early bit! But there will be a car seat expert there, so looking forward to that bit!

June2009 · 20/01/2009 18:43

Tee2072 hope you feel better today!
I took the antenatal classes print out today to have a look so I can bring it to the midwife centre tomorrow.
They told me I need to book the birth there tomorrow after the scan in order to be allowed to see the midwife there.
I hope my voice is back by then!

strawberrysam good news about the bleeding, your post about being inventive really made me laugh :D

lynn that's a shame about the name. For what it's worth if you really like it maybe you should still go for it? Loads of people don't watch eastenders (haven't watched any soaps in more than 10 years).

We had this conversation with dh the other day, there is no guarantee that the name we choose this year isn't going to be plastered all over the news for whatever reason next year or sometime in the future. This Lauren might not last on the show.

Thanks for the good luck messages for tomorrow, I'll think of you daisy ;)

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 20/01/2009 19:31

Hello all. Still full of bug and feeling rotten, but I've got a night of vegetation planned so that should make me feel a bit better....

How weird Llynnnn, my sister is also due 5 weeks after me.... she'll have a tiny gap as her DD isn't even a year old yet...

Lol at all your sex-talk. DH hasn't had a very 'exciting' pregnancy so far... I think he'd like some 'inventiveness'...

DS came back from nursery absolutely hyper today... it's been a tiring day all round!

Hope you are well.

chocciedooby · 20/01/2009 21:03

Hi ladies.
PMSL at your posts strawberry Sam and Sweetbroody..
So pleased you have stopped bleeding Strawberry.

Only a quick post as DS1 is playing up

SweetBROODY · 21/01/2009 10:49

I watched a crazy show last night as well.. Women who didnt know they were pregnant.. It made me cry! IT was sad but exciting.. can you imagine not knowing and turning up at A&E giving birth!

In some ways its easier right none of the worry for the 9/10 Months!

daisy5 · 21/01/2009 11:50

I really struggle to get my head around women not knowing they are pregnant. A girl I met once insisted it had happened to her friend, but I can't see where a baby can hide. This girl was a jockey so was tiny. Is it complete denial? I would have really liked to see it - it has always intrigued me.

Thanks for best wishes - I am cool about it now - Thumper has been moving around tonnes in the past day and my cold has meant I am in 'survival' mode, so now just super excited and struggling to do anything practical around the house today.

StrawSam & sweetbroody - had a good giggle at your messages - but oh dear, kids do get in the way a bit. My dh is totally turned off by my body at the moment so 'you know what' is thin on the ground!!! He is not horrible or anything, it's just when he looks at me, he sees the bump and thinks of all the stress and worry we had with number one and sleepless nights, and well, any 'hot' thoughts quickly go out the window. I think I am winning him over to feeling a little more chilled about it all, but he is a worrier by nature.

So pleased to hear your bleeding is better.

It is fun, having other people with due dates nearby isn't it. There are next to no babies on my Dad's side of the family (all career focused or big travellers or 'particular') and now my cousin is having her first baby in March, so am thrilled about that. Neither of my brothers have children, or are even married - my Dad made a gorgeous comment - 'You really are doing your bit for the family aren't you' - it sounded something you would say during the war.

mrsmcjnr - this could be an interesting way to choose a name - turn on the radio and go with the first name that is 'sung' about. Do you ever hear Barry Manilow's 'Mandy' on the radio? Will get around to setting up CAT very soon, as do want to read your Dad's book.

bigcar - DD would be very happy if we called the new one Ninky Nonk. She has said a definate 'no' to all suggestions to date. Either that or 'Rosie', 'Emily", "Mavis', or 'Daisy'.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 21/01/2009 11:50

I can't imagine not realising you're pregnant and then just going to A&E and giving birth. Were they overweight? I don't believe it much, if I'm honest. When I was heavily pregnant with DS, I could actually see his hands and feet coming out of me, even make out fingers and toes. My SIL didn't realise she was pregnant til 17 / 18 weeks with her first two DCs (she doesn't have regular periods at all). I couldn't believe it, especially second time around! I'd had such an awful first few months when pregnant with DS, there was no way I wouldn't have known. However, this one was so totally different that I could believe it. Not now I'm feeling the movements and have a huge gut though!

Got SPD physio this afternoon so she can check my hip alignment and things. She's barking mad, but bloody brilliant! She gave me a hug as I left last time!

One week til my scan! Hurrah!

OP posts:
SweetBROODY · 21/01/2009 12:15

I was shocked.. They werent slim but not fat either.. they were saying they had NO symptoms at all.. and the babys were quite small at birth.. It had me in tears though.. It was interesting that they were in the last stages of labour before they realised.. this meant they didnt use any pain killers.. made me wonder how long I will last before I asked them to knock me out!

I'm not really thinking of names as in our culture we have to wait til baby is born and then once the horoscope is made we will get told which letter the name should on.. it makes it more pressureable! :S lol (not that that is a word- cant think of the real one)!

Kinda worried wont like the letters and wont be able to decide a name.. even though I have a name per letter for both girl and boy! lol

Tee2072 · 21/01/2009 12:31

I personally know someone who had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth. She was/is massively overweight, never had a regular period in her life and was told she could never conceive.

She has a beautiful and perfect 6 year old boy now. And she thanks god every day for him, since she certainly didn't take care of herself while she was carrying him, as she didn't know about him.

SweetBROODY · 21/01/2009 12:39

Tee thats amazing... that would be so, so impractical for a Diabetic right... on this programme one of the ladies was Diabetic and the baby was fine.. I guess its the miracle of life!
