June - I've also flown with a young baby (3 months), went to Greece for two weeks with dd. Not a problem at all and a great holiday! The passport was a bit of a pain, just getting the photo. First lot no good as not enough white space above her head, and she wasn't looking straight into camera! ARGH. Anyway, took loads with digital camera (lying on a white sheet) and took to photo shop where they printed it passport sized.

daisy - Go for it with the knitting, it is nice if you get into it. Indigo Yard is big on its cocktails so that's probably it.

Feb - Welcome and congrats!

Doris - Glad to hear you are off the anti emetic and feeling better.

Bigcar - Nice to be getting somewhere with the scan issue. Midwife called today, they are coming for home visit on Sunday so should hopefully be sorted soon.

Went to my first pub today for reviewing purposes, not great! Oh well, next one tomorrow will hopefully be better, especially as I'm taking my gran for her birthday.

June2009 · 14/01/2009 20:22

Thanks for all the travelling re-assurance, I love our fmaily pary and itll be a great opportunity to introduce baby to his french side.

tee Big hugs for you, I hope you feel better now. I've only just started to feel a bit more positive this week after the xmas break. Dr recommends TLC

daisy5 · 14/01/2009 20:37

june - oh yeh, that's right....they have to suck on something during take off and landing to ease the pressure on their ears as ermintrude says - bottle, boob or dummy. Do you think your family might take little one off your hands and give you some time to nap in the sun maybe?

doris - we are going to a place not far from Vejer. We would go to the beaches around El Palmar, and would stroll near Zahara de los Etunes, go to restaurants in Santa Lucia and Vejer and just do very little really. I quite like Cadiz but dh wasn't as keen. The area is just so laid back and unaffected. Where did you used to go?

feb welcome

snowwombat · 14/01/2009 20:37

hi girls, checking back in. Great to hear things coming along well with scans and MS.

17 weeks here, off to see the Prof today to check on wombatbaby. We have had a great few weeks on holidays, bleeding settled down and come back to a heatwave in Sydney. Off to the beach later!

The buggy and travel stuff is really helpful. We will be returning to the UK with a 5 week old baby who needs an Australian and British passports. So looking fwd to that bureaucracy!

Loving the idea of naming child after your car! Mine known as the beast! Doesn't fit as nicely as Peppermint pattty!

Lots of dry social gatherings for me at the moment! We get married next month so I am going to have a small amount of very nice champagne and jugs of non-alcoholic cocktails!

Welcome to the newbies!Off to catch up properly on the thread

My sister bought me some maternity PJ's from Mothercare and they are really comfy

MrsMcJnr · 14/01/2009 22:04

Hey ladies, one more sleep until my scan and now I keep worrying that I am not feeling her moving enough, I wish I could just relax over scans but I am always like this, especially important ones like this one!

Daisy ? CAT me your address and I?ll send you a copy I love the Costa de la Luz, we?ve been going there for years, so relaxing DH and I particularly like Zahara (there is such a fab roof top bar there now too, loads of big cushions to chill on) I did my tax return online last night, sooo boring! Shame your first trip with DD was so eventful!

Bigcar ? yay for a great scan sleep well tonight in that knowledge!

June ? we took my DS to the Caribbean at 12 weeks exactly. It was a family trip planned for my Dad?s 60th a few years beforehand and I was just lucky that DH and my family plan worked out! DS was a star on the flights, no trouble at all plus because I was BFing, it was really easy to feed him and I made a point of doing so at take off and landings to protect his ears. If I were you I?d get the passport form from the post office in advance so you have it ready, especially at that time of year. We used www.paspic.com for the photos (we took them and uploaded them to the site) and they were fabulous (well the service was, DS looked a bit blotchy as he was only a week old!) Lovely that DH felt your baby move!

Hey Ermintrude ? I quite like Che but DH wouldn?t. We already have some reserve boys names for future DC so we are sorted on the boy front, girls being a different story all together!

Welcome and congrats Feb hope you feel much better soon

Ineedmore ? poor you, hope the Aquanatal helped the SPD.

Hey Choccie ? defo think there is a link between being tired and the sickness. Hope you pelvis holds up!

Tee ? hope you are having a relaxing evening.

Doris ? I am off to that rock on Sat to buy DS some clothes; I?ll send your regards shall I? sorry to hear you are unwell, I hope you (and the rest of the family!) feel much better soon.

Littlesarah ? you need to use www.paspic.com this time too! Which pub? Go one, spill the beans!

Snowwombat ? lovely to hear from you glad all is going well. You must be getting so excited about your wedding now

Strawberrysam ? hey, good to hear from you, take it easy now xx

chocciedooby · 14/01/2009 22:23

Thanks Mrsmc.
My difficult DS1 is not helping matters at the moment and his bad behaviour is draining me. I cannot go to bed at a reasonable time in the evenings until he settles and that is a big problem here at the moment. Hey ho. Night all.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 15/01/2009 07:47

How old is DS1 choccie?

'Dunk your Bumps' was great last night (even though it was farking freezing - will be a lot easier when the weather improves). My thighs feel like I've done a real work out and the SPD is behaving itself this morning. All good.

Off to have three fillings now at the dentist. Not so good.....

LittleSarah · 15/01/2009 09:12

June - my dh felt baby move last night. Can't believe you can feel it so early but there it is! I was lying on the bed after having a bath and had my hand on my stomach and felt some quite firm movements so called dh. Luckily baby decided to keep moving!

Tee2072 · 15/01/2009 10:07

mrsmcJ this early in the pregnancy, I would be surprised if you could feel her a lot! Also, if your placenta is near the front, you may not feel her at all! Try not to fret (easier said than done, I know!!).

choccie must be so hard to have one already here and one in the interior. This may be my only one, so all I can do is offer sympathy.

littlesarah that is so cool!

Well, after bursting into tears, DH made dinner and I felt better after that! Was asleep by about 9:30 and slept right through until the baby on the interior decided to wriggle a lot and woke me up. Not a way I mind waking up at all!!

MrsMcJnr · 15/01/2009 10:23

Poor you Choccie it is very tiring looking after another child and being pg isn?t it? My DS is normally a star but meals are stressful at the mo as he is eating so little and getting fed up with me trying to make him eat, all he wants to do is play! He?s only little though, one year on 24/1.

LOL Ineed, glad to hear the SPD is in check today, what a nasty visit to the dentist

Ah Littlesarah, lovely

Tee ? I know I am probably worrying needlessly but I am 20+5 now and with DS I was feeling him quite a lot at this stage, that said (as you rightly say) the placenta is to the front this time and that does make a difference. Also, with DS I used to lie very still until I felt him but when I do that now, I just fall asleep! I?m sure I?ll come back a much happier lady tonight. I know what you mean about kicking in the night, late in my last pregnancy, DS would start kicking around 2.30am, I?d wake up and lie there and felt it was such a special time and I was so glad to have experienced it

LittleSarah · 15/01/2009 10:56

MsMcJnr - I'm sure everything will be fab today!

choccie - Kids can be a PITA sometimes! So dificult when you can't get them to bed, it's always easier when you can at least get the evening to yourself.

chocciedooby · 15/01/2009 11:37

Hi everyone.
That sounds so lovely littlesarah. I have felt some movements but not very strong ones and very rare at the moment.
MrsMcJnr - sure you will be fine.
It is very hard looking after my 2 ds's being pregnant but at least they are both in school/pre-school in the mornings which gives me time to get my sanity back!
I had a rough morning with DS1 again. He had a tantrum that 1.5 HOURS! I was exhausted by 9am.
Thanks tee for your kind words. I am going to talk to Ds's teacher and health visitor this week to see if I can get his behavioural problems looked into.
Ineed - DS1 is 5. His brother is 3.10 and he is a very good child. Even when he tantrums it is mild compared to ds1. Anyway thats a whole other thread.....
Hope you all have a great day.

daisy5 · 15/01/2009 12:19

oh choccie I am so sorry. I am so lucky that dd is generally easy going and entertains herself a lot. She was younger when I was pregnant with the child I miscarried and that wasn't so easy. My friends dd used to have terrible tantrums and even the noise after 5 minutes gave me a headache, let alone the distress if it is your own child and for much longer.

I wish I had some wonderful advice but I don't. I hope you are getting some help from friends and family. Nurseries and schools are wonderful things for time out when they are little. 5 minutes of absolute quiet is just heaven. BIG HUGS TO YOU.

mrsmcjnr will CAT you once I get that sorted out. Laughed to hear you like Zahara and nearer the time will ask you more about the roof top bar. We ate at quite a touristy restaurant with high prices and very average food (the hotel down by the water) so would definitely want to go somewhere different when we go back - and Thumper is sure to enjoy the big cushions. So you trained the staff at Indigo - you must have a few feathers to your bow (is that the right phrase!).

littlesarah happy restaurant reviewing. Hope your gran has a lovely time.

tee - big hugs to you too. I am so in love with my bump that I almost cry. First time round, I felt very different. I found the movements interesting, and reassuring but really struggled to associate it with being a real human being. When dd came out - I subconciously thought, 'oh my goodness - a baby'. It sounds like you don't have this problem

Myneaux · 15/01/2009 12:53

MrsMcJnr - just wanted to add that I am also 20 weeks plus and still havent felt a thing (and I had my scan on monday so everything is definately fine).

My placenta is anterior too so I am sure that must be the reason !!

good luck with your scan today !!!

insywinsyspider · 15/01/2009 13:09

hello all

mrsmcj - good luck for the scan, i hope its all very reassuring. Did you get the book btw?

there was some discussion about nursing chairs a while ago and I'm not sure if it came up but I wanted to recommend the ikea poang one for anyone on a tight budget. We got one for ds1's room and 2.5yrs on its still going strong, its very comfy with the foot stool too.

chooice - sorry to hear your ds's are being a handful, not what you need, ds1 is sick at the moment, high temp which I'm finding equally draining and dreading ds2 going down with same thing which is inevertable!

littlesarah - so cool about dh feeling baby move, dh hasn't felt this one move yet, I can feel it squirming and want to discuss names but he's saying its too early, I know when he feels it move he'll change his mind!

daisy5 · 15/01/2009 13:38

Oh and hiya snowwombat - happy wedding planning. I call my dp, dh although we are not really. We have a few family issues that have delayed our wedding, and I threatened a registry office wedding as was fed up with using the term partner. So we agreed to call each other wife and husband in the interim. So three years engaged but hoping to tie the knot in NZ this Christmas.

yes, no matter how liberal or alternative you feel, the 'beast' really doesn't translate into a child's name.

llynnnn · 15/01/2009 17:25

hi all

mrsmc - how did your scan go? hope it was a fab experience

snowwombat - how exciting about your wedding. i would love to have a wedding day again (i'll marry the same person!) it was such a fab day

daisy - it would be lovely gettingmarried at christmas with the new little one there, how exciting!

littlesarah - my dh also felt the baby move on tues, he was so excited and i think it has made it feel more real to him and he feels more involved now

choccie - sorry to hear your ds is testing you at the mo. i am definitely feeling much much more tired this time with looking after dd than last time when i was able to sleep whenever i fancied it! dd is still full of flu and has an ear infection. i feel for her but her constant need for me when i am so tired has really drained me this week. i have heard so many times that it is easier having a baby and a toddler than being pregnant with a toddler! I am clinging onto this at the mo and hoping it is true!!

i feel very lazy and a real scaredy-cat reading about all your trips with little babies, i have never dared to leave the country with dd and even get scared at the thought of long car rides etc!! , hoping i'll be much more relaxed with this one!!

i have my scan tomorrow. i was really looking forward to it, but now im getting nervous just incase there are any problems. i have been feeling lots of movement this week and think it must have so much to do with the position of everything as i cant remember feeling this much with dd

flynn1984 · 15/01/2009 18:50

Hiya all hope everyone is ok...will try and catch up on the posts later.

Well first day at my new job and I am so tired, for the first time in months I actually had work to do so couldn't check up on MN today for a change
Also there are times I think I feel the baby moving, but over the past few days these feelings have disappeared and I know sounds silly but it's causing some worry...think I'll use my doppler tonight make sure I can find the heartbeat.

Mrsmcjnr how did your scan go??

Tee Good that your feeling movements and you dont mind being woken up at night

Ineed glad you enjoyed 'dunk your bumps' last night my next class of aqua natal is Tuesday and can't wait

I promise to catch up with everyone else as soon as I feel more awake

katocat - Welcome! I see you are due the same day as me.

llynnn - That's lovely. I agree with you about movement and position too, dd definately must have been tucked away, I'm sure I would have felt her before 22 weeks if she'd been like this one.

insywinsyspider - My dh will happily discuss baby names, usually the most ridiculous ones he can think of. I normally have to end the conversation before he sees the steam coming out of my ears. "We'll discuss this when you can be serious" I say, like mother.

flynn - Good luck with the doppler, I'm sure it's all fine, paranoia is one of the least attractive pregnancy side effects isn't it? However at least I am better than the anxious wreck I was in trimester 1!

LittleSarah · 15/01/2009 20:11

flynn - I don't mean to say you are behaving unattractively! Just that paranoia is really horrible and impossible to avoid when pregnant!

flynn1984 · 15/01/2009 21:09

Littlesarah I know paranoia is terrible isn't it!! Pregnancy hormones driving me wild, watching first episode of this series of American Idol and was nearly crying at the start lol
