Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Morning all- i'm having a bad day on my SPD and i'm feeling just Soooooo tired- i honestly nearly rang DS's nursery to say i wouldn't be able to take him in today.... but decided the peace and quiet with him there for 3hrs would be worth it!!

DH is off tomorrow so has said he'll get up and get them sorted and do the nursery run!! He's so good!!

My SPD was just in the back of my pelives, but the last few days its coming round to the front and the 'underneath' bit between my legs, i'm in agony, MW said she'd reffer me to physio when i saw her last tuesday.... i see her again in 2 weeks, should i just cope till then? i mean i can cope if i have to, and hate sounding like a moaning minnie.... i have been usffering with it in my back since about 10wks this PG so its not like i haven't been coping so far...

tinkisdueanyday · 14/01/2009 10:26

poor u glas
i have had 7 contractions today all over the place quite painful 1 - 30 mins apart, 6 mins apart etc

Astarte · 14/01/2009 10:43

Has he latched on Kayz? I make Dh get up in the night for any of them, especially the LO, make it his job!
I do enough during the day without hauling my arse outta bed in the middle of the night as well.

Aw Glask, sorry you're feeling the pain. I can recommend a Chiropractor for SPD. Saved my sanity for sure. Bet Gyo and playing would agree too.

Back from m/w's. Still measuring small for dates, but as scan was okay I really couldn't care less.
Nice student m/w wants to attend my HWB, she seems okay, have said yes.
Interestingly the m/w asked if my previous births had been during the day, which they have. She seems to think people have a pattern of delivery (first kids excluded).
I asked a little while ago on the Larger families topic and it was by no means conclusive.
3/5 engaged and firmly down there, so happy days!

What do you reckon is better day/night births? I'm thinking daytime is better.

Tink any more stirrings. Right tons to do, will keep passing laptop and refreshing for Tink

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 10:59

i'd say nighttime Ast- both mine were night-time deliveries and i hope i have another night-time delivery... my problem with a day delivery would be that it'd be sooner till it was bedtime... DS was born at 9.04am so i had a full day awake with him then was able to sleep, with DD i delivered at 1.45am and i stayed awake all that first night just watching her sleep and feeding her, then family visited from about 9am in the morning, and again i had all that first day awake before bedtime... i liked it!!

Astarte · 14/01/2009 11:12

I can see definite advantages to night births. No childcare to sort (for me) being a major one and Dh is guaranteed to be at home.
However, parking for an ambulance or m/w would be a bloody nightmare during the evening. Night birth would mean I'd want to sleep during the day I think, which would be difficult.

Day birth brings the CMW to me whom I know, not the on-call team, whom I may never have met.
I get to put the washer on straightaway with the soiled towels
People visit that day and then I go to bed, same routine in place, we just start the next day with another family member
Only downside is the kids have to be picked up.

But then if I need to transfer to hospital how will I arrange childcare during the night? God I hadn't thought of that.

Still haven't done my bag....or for that matter my birth plan. I should get cracking really.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 11:17

Ast- i'm already compiling my list of what i'll still need for my bag... and have my birth plan sorted, just waiting till its a bit closer to the time so i dont look too 'organised'...

Astarte · 14/01/2009 11:19

Really?!?!?!?! F@ck, right don't let me back on here until I at least have some maternity pads shoved into a bag.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 11:26

I'm just super organised this pregnancy!! Its my nesting- its got me organised in every possible way!!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 11:28

right i'm off to get DS from nursery, then gonna have lunch and a nap i think!!

will probs be back this afternoon if i dont sleep through it!!

tata!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/01/2009 12:00

Hello

Tink - wondering how you are doing. Are you lurking between pains?

Anyone in touch with her via text?

Astarte · 14/01/2009 12:07

I have packed into a holdall:
pack of maternity pads
3 sleepsuits
5 pampers nappies
bedsocks
pyjamas
2 nursing bra's
2 pairs of knickers (need some new ones)
Molton Brown goodies I got for Christmas in a washbag (handy present that was)

What else will I need? Blimey, it's been so long since I had to do this...I didn't bother with ds2 at all.

I won't be in for more than 24 hours and if I am in for longer I'm going to have packed a second bag of stuff for Dh to bring into me.

I think i need to start a list of stuff I need to get and do.

NatalieJane · 14/01/2009 12:08

Bloomin' 'eck, you lot know how to gas don't you?! Am sure to have forgotten half of it...

Kay, did you speak to the HV/GP yesterday about how you're feeling? If you think it is more than tiredness and adjusting, get on to them.

LaTour, deffo go get a GOF woman! On a more serious note, I think everyone has said everything there is to say about your Nan, so just wanting to add that my love and thoughts are with you all.

Tink, I am so excited for you, sounds like things are getting off to a good start

Did someone ask how we're doing the formula? Well we were making up 4oz feeds one at a time, using 2.5oz boiling water, add the powder, then adding 1.5oz of (fridged) cooled boiled water, to cool it down, the boiling water sterilises the powder, the cold water just speeds up the cooling down bit, just needs sitting in a jug of cold water for a minute. But, greedy guzzle guts has decided 4oz is no longer enough, so I have started doing 5oz for him. Does anyone know about the formula for hungrier babies? How do you know whether to use that or just make a bigger feed? The guide thing on the box says a baby of 3.5 kilo's would take roughly 3oz, Mikey isn't even 3.5k and is taking 5oz, and still sometimes looking for more, so getting on for double the amount on the guide. Do I just keep making the feeds bigger or is it worth switching to the hungrier formula?

MW went well yesterday, he is 7lb 1oz now so well past his birth weight It is such a relief, I was fairly sure he would be because of the fatty legs thing, but I was quite worried the lack of BM for those few days would have had a lasting effect, not that I am paranoid about his weight in any way whatsoever... T'is like having a PFB again LOL

Ahhhh sugar, have forgotten I was in the middle of a catch up, and have now forgotten everything I was catching up on.... pregnancy brain is lingering on here!

Astarte · 14/01/2009 12:11

Tink how are you doing?

glad to hear it's going well. Nat if you get a mo tell me what you packed into your bag please, pretty please!

NatalieJane · 14/01/2009 12:15

Oh, Ast welcome back

Only things extra I took in was a blanket for the baby (hate scratchy hospital ones), some muslins, baby vests and hats, and then stuff for while we were waiting for the induction to get going (mags, food etc. didn't use any of it after I'd had him though, so pretty useless info for you really )

Oh, don't forget the carseat at the ready and a snow suit or whatever for the baby, and some going home clothes for you.

NatalieJane · 14/01/2009 12:17

Oh annnnnnddddd anti-bac wipes - it can be pretty disgusting in the post-natal ward bathrooms...

And slippers.

I keep remembering stuff....

NatalieJane · 14/01/2009 12:18

And a towel, I took two actually, one for the shower straight after the birth which DH took home with him, and one for the morning after shower.

I only had two bags, honestly!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 14/01/2009 12:20

Hello all! Working from home today

NJ - Great to hear how well Mikey is doing!

All this talk about nesting, could someone pass some on to me. I just feel lazy! Really need to get on top of washing and ironing, sweep laminate and tiled floors, clean bathroom....and the list goes on...

DH goes away to Scotland again tomorrow with work and isn't back until Saturday afternoon. We were talking about maybe going up to the Purley Way ( big huge edge of town shopping development towards Croydon) on Sunday to start having a look at buggies, cots, etc.

I've seen lots of conversations about buggies on here but really not sure where to start. DH doesn't think 3-wheelers look v stable (???!??) and I want something as light and easy as possible as I have a history of mild back problems. I'm thinking the best thing will be to go and have a look and try some without committing.

tink - hope things are going well

Astarte · 14/01/2009 12:20

Have washed the car seat just need to reassemble it.
Have a snowsuit, and a blanket. Need pink muslins, a hat and a new outfit for me

Ta Nat! I hope Tink's off to the Birth Centre

Starshinetiger · 14/01/2009 12:22

Hi All, Blimey, this thread has been busy in last day or so! Took me about 15 mins to catch up!

Kayz - really glad to see that you seem to be a bit happier today, hoping you're having a good day and well done you for making DH get up to DS1 - rightly so.

Astarte - can I ask you for details on the pool you have? We are pretty set on home water birth and I now need to investigate the pool. couldn't see anywhere what you had posted about. BTW - 6! you are definitely a better mummy than I, as I am nervous about coping with 2!

Saw MW this morning. All fine, measuring appropriately and she seems fine with us wanting a homebirth, which is good. Am not 100% convinced, but we're only 10 mins drive by car from hospital, so if something happens and we need to go in, should be fine. Just think that will be easier knowing that we can stay at home and not stress about any family member getting to us quick enough to look after DS. Also, think it will be quite nice just to relax at home and I can guarantee water birth, which is not guaranteed at hospital, as they only have 1 pool, but I felt it really helped last time.

Sorry, lots of waffle here. Should be working (as usual).
Tink - contractions sounding promising. Hope pain is manageable, will keep refreshing to check for updates!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 12:26

tink text me at 10.58am last, had said she'd phoned her MW who said it was sounding good, but it could be a slow one... I wont hound her too much but will taxt later to see how she is if she doesn't post before then. Her contractions have been on and off this morning, very strong but very irregular. Think she's waiting till something more happens yet.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 14/01/2009 12:27

Hi Glask! Thanks for the update!

Starshinetiger · 14/01/2009 12:27

LaTour, meant to say - bummer about all the teeth stuff. I would agree with others - as long as the teeth won't deteriorate with a delay (which it sounds like they won't, as otherwise they would get you in urgently), then as long as you are following good cleaning a pg won't disrupt things too much. Plus, you just can't tell when you'll fall. I had similar decision to make last year, but in my case was lump in breast (am sure I bored you all rigid with it at time). In that case, I decided to wait to see if serious before TTC, as consequences of being pg and something being too serious were too difficult to contemplate. But, in your case, you've already had the investigative work and if the outcome is that time delay won't impact it then I'd go for TTC and see what happens (both with TTC and with getting appointments through).

Astarte · 14/01/2009 12:28

Here it is Star

Mine is coming on Monday, can't wait!

I think I have missed LaT's post Off to check...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 14/01/2009 12:30

ses- i have to say i think the luna is very lightweight to be pushing, you can buy the carrycot bit, can get all matching accessories, it folds up pretty small and easily- I've had a LOT of pram experience and have to say i think its the best one i've chosen!! I've never heard a poor review about it either!! I just can't wait to give birth so i can use it!!

lastboxoftampons · 14/01/2009 12:32

Hi all:

tink hoping this is it for you! Fingers crossed!!

I never got a chance to comment on the how many kids convo. SIX !! DH and I agreed very very early on that 2 is our absolute limit and we wouldn't ever have more unless the second pregnancy was multiples! Because we have relatives in two different countries, we're ALWAYS going to be travelling back and forth. It would get more difficult - not to mention expensive! - to travel the more kids we had.

I don't think I really have a preference whether I gave birth during the day or at night. I think it's going to be a bit hectic and an upheaval either way!

Ses good luck in Croydon on Saturday! I keep teasing DH that I'm going to drag him to Mothercare World one of these days! Apparently when his brother had to go, he was totally overwhelmed!
