Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chilledmama · 09/01/2009 10:19

DS has fallen asleep on his sofa and is snoring away like there's no tomorrow. Wish I had camcorder!

mumoverseas · 09/01/2009 10:30

lardy, sorry DD is ill again and you are STILL waiting for your physio. Bloody stupid. Thats the problem with the NHS, the long delays. When I had my first appt this pregnancy a referral was made for me to the haematologist about my dvt history and I finally got it all sorted in December and was put on blood thining injections when I was 28 weeks. The midwife was shocked as apparently I should have been on it from 8 weeks. I guess I'm lucky to have been put on it at all as when I was pregnant with DD I received an appointment with the haematologist when she was 4 weeks old. A little late!

herby, hope you feel better soon. Hope it isn't that nasty bug that a lot of us had over Christmas. Don't worry if you can't keep water down. That was my main concern but the hospital said that at this time of year it isn't a big concern if you can't drink for a day or two and baby will be fine as he/she will live off your bodys reserves.

Hope everyone elses aches and pains soon go and remember, every sleepless night is one day closer to getting these little ones out (when the sleepless nights REALLY start!)

MarkStretch · 09/01/2009 12:50

My conclusion for this morning is that my pregnancy hormones cannot cope with too many back to back episodes of E.R.

herbgarden · 09/01/2009 13:10

fgpl - I welled up with the flower episode. How sweet!

DS (2.5) threw his arms round my neck yesterday standing in his room in his little vest and pants and said "I really love you mummy" ....arent' they just gorgeous sometimes - makes up for the times we're tearing our hair out.

On the CS/organising other dc's issue, I've now taken the decision to send ds off to his grandparents for the 3 days I'm in (CS on 02.02) and then my mum can then also take him to nursery for his usual 2 days (she only lives 15 mins away from me) so he stays in his weekly "routine" - it'll be hard not to see him but I think it'll be nice for him to come with dh on the Thursday to see that he has a new baby brother/sister and that Mummy is coming home....there isn't any easy way really is there but at least you have your mum nearby. Not sure what it's like in your area, but I have to be at the hospital by 7.30am - there are 3 planned cs's that morning and you don't know which order they come. DS nursery doesn't open til 8am so my mums going to have him the night before and drop him off ( I also think I'll be a mess that morning and don't want ds picking up on it).....

Have eaten 2 oatcakes so far today and sipped at water.....am starving so feeling a bit weak but I'm really hoping that the actual throwing up bit has passed now.

spottyshoes · 09/01/2009 13:33

Arrrgh I've only been gone a few hours and you lot have talked loads!

THOM I was always adamant I would have anothe cs before I was pg, then as soon as pg I was adamant I would have a VBAC. Now it's nearly Feb I'm slightly scared and dont know what to do. I hate being out of control too! But I have opted for the baby to decide. If s/he's breech - CS, If head down - VBAC. Bit like flipping a coin but I will stick to that decision I must read a few books too. Oh god I'm so unprepared to have another baby!!!!!!!

I would have to disagree MOS - I spent month 8 on 1.5 hrs sleep a night so by the time DS came and went 4 hrs between feeds - I was in heaven!!!

Herb you have my sympathies, it's horrible. Hope it doesn't last long. And with your DS Chilled - hope he's better soon too. All these poor poorly people

Neerly - go minimalist! baby needs sleepsuits, nappies/wipes and something warm to come home in. You need maternity pads, nighty, slippersocks, few toiletries and something to come home in. Anything else the hospital can provide and DH can replenish stocks daily as required and bring the car seat when youre going home. I haved culled my list (too lazy to get everything) and will be leaving 2 or 3 carrier bags with new stuff in for DH to bring in every time he visits.

Hi Dinkymum

Oh dear I have a hyperactive squirrel upstairs. It keeps squeaking "bounce bounce" and I can hear it jumping and laughing not napping!

spottyshoes · 09/01/2009 15:05

Harrumph - and now I'm here you all bugger off!

Going to lie down then!

dinkystinky · 09/01/2009 16:24

I'm here Spotty!

Feeling v happy as the birth centre have called to book me in for my 38 week check there, so if this pregnancy keeps going well and Squiglet is a little less tardy than his big brother, we will with any luck be giving birth in there rather than the labour ward and DH will be able to stay with the two of us until they discharge us. Now just have to give this baby a talking to about not turning up until it is between 37 and 42 weeks....

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? We were meant to have friends visiting from the north (they're due their first in June) but the poor girl is ill - she's been having a terrible time of it in her pregnancy with lurgy after lurgy - so we have an unexpected free weekend. Think we may take DS to the Natural History Museum tomorrow to go look at dinosaurs and then go out for a nice dinner tomorrow night (as nanny already lined up to babysit)..

dinkystinky · 09/01/2009 16:25

Did your hyperactive Squirrel finally settle down Spotty? DS (when he's refusing to nap) likes to take his socks off and do puppet shows in bed

MarkStretch · 09/01/2009 16:29

Hello all

Just back from my 36 week check with the midwife and the baby has turned and is now head down and engaged!

We are on for the VBAC! (Providing I don't have an increase in my BP or go more than 10 days overdue).

Feeling quite excited about it now. She has said to go in sooner rather than later if and when contractions start as they will need to monitor me a little more closely. DH was glad about that, he'd have me in at the first whiff of a contraction I think.

She also said this baby seems to be a little smaller than dd (I'm measuring 35 weeks) and she guessed at between 7 and 8lbs, that was a relief as dd was huge.

So all in all feling positive.................but still a little terrified......

MrsY · 09/01/2009 16:29

Hey everyone - I'm at a friend's, and have jumped on their computer!

Thanks for all the messages, it's been nice to read them/get messages from MS.

Things have calmed down, but they're still monitoring me to see what's what. Growth scan on Wednesday, so they may induce?

I've only skimmed (15 pages!) but hope all is well with everyone - babies stay put and mums stay happy!!!!! Laptop's gone to be fixed (will take two weeks) but I'll try and be on over the next few days - or just bombard MS with text messages!

Take care all xxx

thehouseofmirth · 09/01/2009 16:41

Hi MrsY if you're still around! Glad you're a free woman again!

MS are you/have you going/gone to any chidldbirth classes? I can't remember, did you go into labour wth DD or is labour going to be a new and exciting experience?!

MarkStretch · 09/01/2009 16:48

Welcome back MrsY! Bombard away, it's nice to have you back!

THOM I had an induction with dd due to high bp, 24 hrs of labour, pethidine and epidural, and then an EmerCS as she was back to back and brow presentation, GRRRRR!

Haven't done any classes this time round except a hypnobirthing session. Am going to try for a VBAC all being well, the only thing that scares me is the same thing happening again but I guess that's out of my control. I just know I am older and wiser this time and have more of an idea about what I want/don't want.

Midwife said today she thought baby was back to back so I need to get on all fours, and quick!

dinkystinky · 09/01/2009 16:57

Welcome back MrsY. Glad all ok - hope the scan goes well on Wednesday.

Markstretch - good that all is good to go at your end too. Remember - this is a totally different birth experience - so dont let fear of what happened with DD's birth overshadow it.

LittleSarah · 09/01/2009 17:07

Hello all

Been meaning to pop on for a while, just to let those who remember me know that I am pregnant again and am now 19 weeks (due in June) so we're very happy here.

Very exciting you guys are so close!

And congrats to Tink and family!

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 17:09

Congratualtions littleSarah....fab news

June is a lovely time to have a baby (my DD is a June baby)....

swampster · 09/01/2009 17:41

Congratulations, lovely news, LittleSarah!

herbgarden · 09/01/2009 17:49

Congratulations Littlesarah that's lovely news for you. With the cold winter we're having so far, I think I'd rather be getting up in the middle of the night in June than Feb !!!....take care of yourself.

Not much going on here this weekend. DH is off to play golf in the morning We have my sister and her fiance round for dinner tomorrow night. He's been drawing our renovation plans for us so it's supposed to be a chat about what we do with the house (nothing til we've got some money to do it !).....but quite exciting anyway and free ! even better. I'm also hoping for some daytime napping..

rosieposey · 09/01/2009 18:00

Thats wonderful news Littlesarah My dd3 was born in June too and its a lovely time of year to have a baby, congratulations!

PinkTulips · 09/01/2009 19:07

aaargghh! another post eaten by the pc!

congratulations littlesarah so glad you'll have your lo soon... hope all goes well for you

mrsy, glad you're back. hope it all goes smoothly from here on for you, you've had a rough ride this preg.

herb and lardy, sorry you've been dealing with bugs. lardy, there's a cough syrup called exputex, it can be given from 2 years and is miraculous stuff... give it a try with your dd. herby, hope you're getting some rest, vomiting bugs can be so draining.

has oogs had her baby? hope she's ok either way whether pregnat or not

fgpl · 09/01/2009 20:23

herbgarden. I am pretty sure I will have to go in really early on d-day as well but am still holding onto the plan that I will be able to drop ds at nursery in a kind of normal day for him I'm in denial type way.
Spottyshoes- it was nothing personal, had to go to the designer outlet to check out all the stuff i can't fit into but ended up just having a starbucks a then buying stuff for dh and ds in Gap.
No plans for the weekend although dh has promised ds a 'mans day' on Sunday which basically involves them building lego and eating snack food all day, with rubbish tv interspersed.
MS good news then. You must be feeling quite positive. Good luck on all you potential VBAC's. Just can't face it myself I'm afraid, buts that another story entirely.
Hope all you infected peeps start to feel better soon. Can smugly say we are germ free here so far.
Glad u r back Mrs Y and things looking good at the moment.

herbgarden · 09/01/2009 20:43

right I'm off to bed...have managed a couple of buttered crumpets and a weetabix tonight so hope I can keep them down.

Have had quite a lot of crampy feelings (period type) today and also feels like lo is doing somersaults in my belly - it's a weird feeling like I'm being pulled from all sides.....hope it's nothing . Anyone else getting very flushed in the face easily ??? just noticed this the last couple of days....

dinkymum · 09/01/2009 21:26

Ta for the welcome backs!
I just posted on the name thread not sure if risky move or not though, but need all the help we can get on the name front lol.
I started packing my bag today also just making a pile which keeps getting bigger and bigger!
Care for DD could be either my friend next door even if just until my mum or DH's mum can get. They live about an hour away and my mum would be coming on a train but DH's mum has a car but shes away on holiday until the 11th of Feb ( due date 14th) or one I have friends who arent too far away. But it still doesnt feel ideal but atleast theres plenty of options. She's in nursery Monday to thursday as well so that could come into play.
I remember when in labour with DD I was crying and worrying about having left the cat! So what i'll be like this time with DD I have no idea. If I have to stay in it'll be the first time i've been away from her!
(I've already been in tears over this fact at the height of hormonal irrational tierdness if that makes sense??)
I will try to be better this time at keeping on track with everyone! Start mat leave next thursday so 'should' have more time on my hands... we'll see lol

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 09/01/2009 23:29

Hi all, I'm back home (well at Mum's, I don't think I will be able to go home for awhile yet) and just trying to repopulate my "Threads I'm on" list!

I'm going to write my birth story soon as it was quite a ride, but thankfully not one that has left me feeling as bad as I did before - almost doesn't feel real! I'm not used to not feeling bad after a birth lol!

I'm not going to read back through 16 pages (you lot can talk!) so I'm sorry if I've missed any news, feel free to give me a lowdown on the week someone.

KazzaL · 10/01/2009 04:02

Morning - can't sleep as very thirsty (forgot to drink much during the evening).

Only got 4 weeks left till finish work and then No2 is due a month today - starting to panic about how soon that it and that we haven't really organised anything. (probably another reason I can't sleep)

we're going shopping tomorrow for the new ensuite which we're having done before No2 arrives and hopefully a new(ish) 2nd car - all i really want to do is paint the nursery and start getting things organised, so i can stop worrying. I keep trying to get DH to do things in the evenings, but he either wants to play on the computer or he's knackered. We had some friends over last/tonight with their 6 week old and he sat on the sofa like a zombie apart from when the 2 hubbies got onto their fav subject - lego - I really thnk this is DC3 I am having sometimes not DC2. very pleased to discover that DS didn't wake up despite friend's LO screaming lots all evenning as she has terrible painful wind/farts.

It's brilliant news that you're back home TBM and everyone else seems to be hanging in despite a few probs on the way - going to try going back to sleep now

catstar · 10/01/2009 07:00

Welcome back TBM and Fifi!! Great news to hear you are out of hospital and hope you are being looked after at your mums .

KazzaL - I'm with you on the worrying front. We are really not prepared for this LO and I just need to start my maternity leave and get stuff ready for new baby. I am convinced this one's going to be early and catch us out, although I'm pretty sure this is just because I don't feel organised.

Hope you managed to get back to sleep - 4am is too early to start the day!

Herbgarden - hope you are feeling a little better - the buttered crumptes sounded particularly tasty. Mmmmmm...

Dinky - enjoy your trip to the NAtural History Museum. I took my nephew when he was little but he got too scared by the T-rex and wouldn't continue round . Has since been back and spent hours there.

Spotty - I agree that I slept better when DD was born and feeding in the night than when I
was in the later stages of pregnancy - it just seemed a better quality sleep!

Right, off now to make a shopping list. We've got 4 friends and their children coming over for lunch today, but because it's been cancelled a couple of times because of various illnesses, I didn't get much in advance . Looks like we'll be eating a buffetstyle lunch!

Hope you all have lovely weekends and the aches, pains and lurgies give you a break - as do the DC's and DH's ...
